Food and service always good
Good food (local) and gave excellent portion when selecting the plate choice.
Great place to eat the food was great at a great price. The staff was very friendly. This place was recommended by a local and was dedinitely worth it. The poke is awesome too.
Food;waitresses and atmosphere Awesome!
Great staff and great food!
Excellent. Good food and waitress was very good.
One of the best Hawaiian food restaurant. Very delicious.
Very disappointed... The Food doesn't taste the same as before & the Pepekaula just like grilled steak!! Service how ever was excellent!
Great Hawaiian food
Have to say tonight was disappointing. Took over 5 minutes maybe even 10 to even get water and silverware. They wasn't that busy though and have enough workers. Everything was small Kine dry. Gotta think twice about going back now... maybe after they move go try'em again
Great customer service and always broke da mouth Hawaiian food! Always worth the drive!
I’ve eaten both here and the one in town, not sure if it was an off day but the service was terrible here and the pipikala was weird. However the one in town is awesome!
Friendly service, great food. The lau lau was delicious!!
It was a bit greasy
Great place to hang out. Karaoke was awesome
When I visited, we got our food quick and it tasted great
Ono food friendly service !!!
Best place to eat Hawaiian Food.
When in Waipahu and a familiar rumble in my opu, my body wants some Hawaiian Food..,so I head to Highway Inn. A go to place when Ono for Na’au Pua, pipikaula, their own poke “outlet” for da Raws and friendly workers that always greet me with a smile!
Hawaiian Food at it's finest... Everytime I go I need to order different items to make a new Winna meal...
Great local spot. Smack in the middle from HNL and Ko'olina.
Food was awesome as always
Bomb food and nice employees i highly recommend
Trying to order takeout is a hassle. I waited 45mins on the phone then hung up & called again and my call was ended when the tone was ringing. Besides this issue, the food and everything else is great.
Very good food. A good amount for the money. Got the pork and sweet potato quesadilla. Very flavorful. Place is not fancy but it's clean. Bathroom is out in hallway and not clean. People hanging around outside were a little sketchy but didn't feel unsafe. Would go back.
I really enjoyed visiting the original location. I have been to the one at Salt multiple times and gotta say, this original just felt more at home and food was excellent. I'm not a huge fan of Hawaiian food but the squid luau was excellent along with the other dishes tried
My go to for great Hawaiian food
Ridiculously expensive for what you get. Parking is also a disaster. I do not recommend.
our favorite spot on da island ono food
Delicious food! Such a hidden gem. A bit difficult to find but still worth the stress of finding it. Prices are affordable, food is amazing, and has very authentic Hawaiian food. Though Hawaiian food is what you should get, there is a big variety of entrées to choose from. Parking lot is shared with other shops and can tell it is aged. Interior is aged but that makes it feel very relaxing. Will go back often!
Ono Hawaiian foods, a must go! Local owned and run. Truly one of the last, old mom and pops run restaurants out and still going!
Awesome atmosphere! Waitress was absolutely amazing as well!
Good food at Highway Inn. We had ordered a take out for dinner. We got Lau Lau/Kalua Pig Combo and a Tripe Stew Combo with a Chicken Long Rice on the side. Very yummy. You don't mind paying a little more for good food. We we're so full it was worth it.
I didn't know this place closed so early, but it was alright we took our food home to save us the tip and drinks. The service was fast and it came at a good time. I guess I'm not a hawaiian plate person, I tried hawaiian food at least 6 places and they all taste the same or under season. It's in a small an shopping area that's very run down. You will see homeless people moving along the area at night. Update. Came in for lau lau and it was tasty. the kalua pork was a bit oily
The food was really good, especially the pork combo plate. Haupia shortbread was super good for desert too and our server was the nicest old lady. Would go again if I'm ever back in Oahu
Great place for Hawaiian style plates Yum You need to try everything
best Hawaiian food on the west side!
The best Hawaiian food on the island, I love all of the food.
Always satisfied best Hawaiian food
Had my suprise birthday party and staff was in on it thank you for making a memorable birthday for me and my family
Awesome food and service!!
we go to honolulu loulou YO
The Hawaiian style food here is second to NONE! The food CANNOT be beat! We Love Highway Inn
OMG! I was visiting my family and my sister took us out here for dinner. Authentic Hawaiian grinds. It was good! I had the squid luau with friend rice. So ono!!! Will def return.
We've eaten at a few good places in Oahu during our vacation, but this place by far has been the best. We've eaten here twice during this stay. The food is ridiculously good, the staff is amazing, and the food is inexpensive! If you want quality local food, Highway Inn is the place to go. Definitely hitting this place up again whenever we go back to Oahu.
Best Hawaiian Food.
Great local place
The waitresses was no where to be found. Never check on us. But the food is always goodm
In good company and ono food... I loved it...
Food good wait long time to be seated but the waitress was awesome...
Hawaiian food in Aiea is ono! Poi macadamia nut pancakes with haupia only served at Ward location.
We Love the Hawaiian Foods there but it's get crowed and packed during lunch time, lol
Good food
Wonderful, just wish the items would get served together, I ordered 5 items and wasn't able to combine anything, unless I wanted it cold
Kind of pricy didn't know had to pay extra for Kailua pig Lau Lau was good
Where do you go when you have visiting guests that want to experience traditional Hawaiian cuisine without the gimmicks of a commercial made-for-tourism luau? I selected the Highway Inn based on my previous experiences with their Kakaako location. We were not disappointed--in fact, we like this Leeward side location the best because of the abundance of free parking. (And quick access to H1).
No dollar menu here. Good place for Hawaiian food, about $18 a person. Very laid back, great service, usually a very short wait time.
Love this place
The food was okay. Kalua pig needed more seasoning. Lomi salmon was the best part. The employees seem nice but they dont come back for refills or check if your meal is okay.
Fresh laulau better than other Hawaiian food places
We came here with some friends who were vacationing in Hawaii. Hubby got the kalua pork sliders and I got the laulau plate with an extra side of smoked meat. The food was pretty great especially compared to your typical drive in. They have a nice blend of local and Polynesian food to choose from. Both my daughters loved it as well. The place started getting pretty busy after we got there, so I'm glad we came early (5:30ish). It's got a nice diner atmosphere, but you can get a la carte as well. Service was timely and the servers were polite and helpful. We would definitely come here again and recommend it to others without hesitation.
Hands down my favourite place for Hawaiian food. The laulau! The haupia! Everything is just so ono. And I like this place more than their location in town. Just feels homier.
It's the place for Hawaiian food. I have been coming here for 40 years.
Awesome place to go eat authentic hawaiian food, comfort food, etc. They also have a small poke (raw fish) bar a little on the pricier side but it's all fresh fish.
Highway inn waipahu has ono hawaiian food. Our waitress Celia always smiling and ask us how we doing or long time no see. Their food is always the same never changes
Always "ono".. "A" must go try place! I jus got off the plane from Las Vegas & had to get my fix on lomi ahi (hmm sooo ono!), laulau, chicken long rice, kalua pig & of course my tripe stew & poi! Never miss .. I stop here before I go on any travels & I come right back to get all this onolicious food. The staff - from the counter, fish deli, cooks & wonderful servers are great .. just like the food.. soo good, soo ono, soo Aloha. This let's me know I'm back safely on my "aina", our beautiful homeland, our islands.
My go to place for hawaiian food fix, or when I crave lau lau, and im not in town side which I would go to youbgs fish market
Hammahz. The food is always good. And the service is excellent.
Awesome Hawaiian food. Just go in, a little to the right is a sign in spot, add your place to the list if it's packed and wait for the good food.
A MUST-TRY while in Oahu! To be concise...the atmosphere is cozy, the food is amazing and the staff are among the friendliest you will find on the island! If you are in the mood for some authentic, Hawaiin food, slip on your flip-flops and head over to the Highway Inn! No need for dressy attire, simply bring an appetite!
Fast, courteous, and ohhh so ono!
Good food and friendly service
Was hammah!
Family restaurant. Welcome service. One's my favorite hi food place. Kalua pig, Lau Lau tasty. But night time many homeless around.
Awesome Hawaiian food.
Truly lived up to the reputation of being local Hawaiian food. The staff were amazing and welcomed us with open hearts. They guided us to eat what locals eat and it was phenomenal. Great place if you want to discover what Hawaiian food really is like.
Extremely friendly service. Don't let the outside scare you away, the food inside is worth it
Great local food & aloha service
Great Hawaiian food
All kinds of great local food. Just don't sit next to the far wall if you don't want to get cold. The air conditioner is very efficient and blows down the wall.
The Best Hawaiian Food on the West Side. Where locals eat!
Great food big portions too
Don't let the location fool you. Excellent food and service. Definitely recommend. Only wish they had a bathroom in the restaurant. Otherwise a great place for a meal!
Good traditional Hawaiian food. I was enjoyed to eat them.
Awesome
The only place you can get better Hawaiian food is at Grandma's house
Amazing local food served in a basic diner style space. Don't let the dinner trays fool you - they are delivering delicious food to you, just like the family has done at Highway Inn for 70 years! The pork Lau Lau and Kaulua Pig are great, and the service is fast and friendly. Many fresh poke options available too. Can't wait to go back!
My favorite place Hawaiian food
Wish they had more local selections. Mostly hawaiian food, which is great. Expected more local breakfast and lunch item.
I've been going to this place since it was on Depot Rd in Waipahu still ono!
Great food. Fresh lomi salmon. Kalua pig wasnt too salty. Fast service
Beef Stew Gravy ALL OVER!
Great food and excellent service.
Lau Lau was super ono!!!!
This place is one of the best local serving food restaurant on Oahu (Waipahus one). A lot of our local celebrities almost always pay a visit to this place when they come home. Servers are pretty curtious and the food is fast to your table. Only reason for the 4 star is because of the parking and the size of the place. Still worth going if you want good Hawaiian food.
Food is great! Very traditional hawaiian or asian dishes. The atmosphere is ok. It's really a local joint but if you're a foodie and like to hit spots featured on TV such as the food network, then you can check this one off your list while visiting Hawaii.
The BEST!
Coconut flan is delicious
This is a must-do for anyone looking for authentic hawaiian grinds (food, for the main landers). Everything is delicious! Our server, Yusuke, was very helpful in understanding what to order. We will definitely be back here!
Pricey but still great food.
Great food good service
Best hawaiian food reasonable prices Friendly staff
Great food great service
Onolicious! 1st Stop every time I come back to Hawaii!!!
Friendly staff & great Hawaiian food.
Compared to the new Kakaako Highway Inn, the old Waipahu location îs old and tired. Service is excellent, the food, not so much. The egg sandwich arrived on untoasted white bread, not the roll seen in the menu. My advice... stick to the new location and their fish tacos!
Food is amazing, staff is welcoming, so casual feels like home! My husband and I crave this place and GOTTA have the pickled onion! (which by the way, the town location...no more poke bar, boo!) Bottom line, love this place!
Broke da mouth! The best Hawaiian food available to the public.
Classic local Hawaiian food restaurant with fish market. If you are looking for some of the best Hawaiian food in an authentic setting, this is the place. You can go wrong with any of the Hawaiian plate combos or order ala cart your favorite dishes. All of this plus local favorites makes this a place for everyone. It's a little off the beaten path, but for tourists who make it out there, it's worth the trip.
Awesome service, great local food.
Best pork ever! Juicy, tender, we don't even eat pork. Everything at this place was good even the stuff that looked a little weird. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous.
Good food great service
Very disappointed with their poke bowls. They were oit of lomi salmon and pickled onion. How do you run out of lomi salmon? Miso ginger dressing was gritty. The Honolulu location is better.
Cannot beat their Hawaiian foof
FAVE PLACE EVERRRR
2/13/19: Always a stop when visiting home. No complaints. Always love their haupia.
Simply the Best hawaiian food ..( SOME-ONO) .
Even the other local favorites like their Hamburger Steaks and Pork Cutlet rocks old school kine yummerz...
Bought 3 hamburger steaks....Ono
Highway Inn been at this location for a number of years and this review is for this Waipahu location. Located in a small strip mall behind of the Waipahu Town.Center, there is ample parking, but the parking lot is horrible! The owner needs to repave it big time! Also, lots of riff raff handing around, it's that kind of area I guess, but came here for the food! The Hawaiian food here is awesome! I had a Laulau/pipikaula combo with Squid Luau, everything was awesome and the portions were pretty good sized! The pork laulau was. Packed full of pork, maybe even too much, if there's such a thing! The pipikaula was good, but in my opinion, Helenas pipikaula is way better. The squid luau was great too!
Pretty good hawaiian. Food since Ono hawaiian food is gone
Some of the best hawaiian food ever
My ohana and i enjoy this place. We eat here at least twice a week. Delicious hawaiian local food. My favorite is the fried butterfish collar. I recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Delicious food and GREAT service!! Thank you Highway inn restuarant
Great place for Hawaiian and local favorites.
Great authentic Hawaiian food on the west side of Oahu. All the meat is moist and everything taste fresh. It's a little hard to find if you aren't looking and the parking is not abundant but the food is worth it.
Food so plentiful, delicious and the service was really great today, fast and friendly! The 3 separate dishes are ala cart. 2 people meals...
The food is to die for...friendly service and they have Ono desserts
ono food and friendly service.
Best place to eat Hawaiian food and the portions are great and add so is the staff..
The food is good and tasty. Also this restaurant has great memories of the past. It is clean and relaxing. Especially the people are friendly. Thank you.
I enjoy certain foods they serve that I haven't quite gotten the hang of making which is the Naau luau. Everything else on their menu can be enjoyed throughout the islands!
Customer service is outstanding staff is always polite, courteous and normally hustling around to make sure their guest has everything they need ... food although a little pricey leaves you full and satisfied ... poke Counter is convenient to order from while you wait for a table ... atmosphere is clean and cozy menu offers a great selection of hawaiian, local, and american food so there's something for everybody. My family has been going there for at least 4 generation maybe 5 so i have a soft spot for this local owned restaurant but if you're visiting for the first time or have made many memories in this establishment the staff treats everyone the same as if you are a part of the highway inn family ... I highly recommend this restaurant to visitors or any local who has never been there before.
Ohana, surroundings , food tastey, alittle pricey, but food ONO, yummy poke, crab and squid, and more .Service done with warmth.
Love it.fresh fish and food is great hospitality is excellent.
Mmmmm one Hawaiian food
Old style service and atmosphere. Simple yet roomy dining
Always awesome, just remember to check their houses of service.
The kal bi steak was good rice had good texture. Not interested in the squid . Really not interested with the kitchens cooking conditions. Their was a peice of hair in my food
Delicious Hamburger Steak and Pork Cutlet plates were perfect local comfort food.
Best place for Hawaiian Food!!! I am a frequent diner and always will be!!!
The food is the real deal. So ono and authentic Hawaiian. Service is friendly and fast. Highly recommend.
Personally, my favorite Hawaiian food spot. Love the lau lau, smoked meat, & pipikaula.
Get there when they open, they fill up fast! Had a great meal of pork sliders and salad but the real deal is the traditional mixed plate. The poi was so fresh! And the desserts! Nom!
Great food, friendly people, and good prices. We devoured the Kalua Pork Sliders and Chicken Lau Lau. It isn't a fancy place. The parking lot and surrounding shops are in need of a facelift, but don't let that keep you away. Ono!
Yummy squid luau!
Usually is great. Very poor food today. The Kailua pig was on the money like always but the other dishes we order was very poor quality. I was disappointed
Great food. Always makes me happy eating their kalua pig, lomi salmon, poi, pipikaula, and haupia.
Variety of Hawaiin traditional food.
Best hawaiian food on the leeward side.
Food was good. Enjoyed
The best Hawaiian food ever! So delicious!!
Miso Ginger Ahi Poke Bowl!!!!
Hawaiian favorites and comfort food
Always fresh, always nostalgic
Friendly/fast service/position was reasonable/ono
Disappointing. Food was fair. Worn out location.
