This Fish Shop corresponds to the category of Hawaiian restaurant.
Great food, great atmosphere! The plantation paella was
Very creative Hawaiian-Asian fusion menu. Seafood, beef, pork, vegetarian... whatever your stomach desires, there's definitely something to fill it. Influences of Filipino, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean in the menu. You have to eat here!
Food was fantastic and the service was terrific. Can not go without trying the ButterFish. Was out of this world good.
My wife and I chose 1849 Eating House for the second evening meal of our honeymoon. After looking through their menu online and all of their reviews we decided they were one of our best options. We ordered their calamari for our appetizer and it was delicious. My wife ordered the Kamameshi with chicken, and was pretty satisfied with it. I ordered the “*Open Fire Grilled Black Angus Kalbi Ribeye Steak with Spicy Cherry Tomato Sambal, Sweet Peas & Bacon Fried Rice, Demi-Glace, Butter Sauce” Their most expensive dish. Valued at $50. I originally ordered it ‘medium well’ but caught the waitress before she submitted the order and changed it to ‘medium’ and I wish I wouldn’t have. The waitress politely addressed the order but it must not have made it back to the Executive or Sous chef. The ribeye looked delicious when it arrived, properly and evenly blackened with delicious sauce. The first few bites were properly cooked at medium, but it continued to get more medium rare with every bite. It got to a point where it was so unevenly cooked I stopped eating it. When the waitress came back to package our leftovers (which is very nice) I addressed that the steak was undercooked and she politely took it back to the kitchen. However, between the kitchen and management, there wasn’t much accommodation for a dissatisfied customer. They did take the calamari off of our ticket ($16) but still charged full price for the steak which is the highest priced item on the menu and what would most would assume to be a dish that they are proud of. The calamari wasn’t even a 1/3 of the price. Neither a chef nor manager addressed an undercooked $50 steak. Heavily disappointed with the way they handled our situation. There is bound to be plenty of restaurants here on Kauai that can match the calamari, and have better options for meals. Would be 2 stars if the waiters and waitresses weren’t so polite. No Mahalo from me.
Excellent service. The butterfish and short ribs are to die for!! And they have bacon fried rice. Enough said.
The placed was booked, but my wife and I found a place at the bar where we were able to order from the regular menu (note that you cannot order food from the bar tables). We shared the brussel sprouts, which were pretty crunchy and incredible. I had the butterfish Kamameshi (hot pot bowl) and it was very very very tasty. The bartenders were very nice and so chill. Just loved the vibe here and would definitely come back.
Wonderful dining experience so much better than Roy's in Wakiki! Better food service and not so noisy
The calamari was great, but if you a plain/pick eater like I am.... don’t waste your money. Just go to the food trucks. It will save you a lot of money on your trip.
Service was great. Food was delicious.
Food was good. Hostesses were extremely rude.
Mostly Very Good, do not order Pata.
Most of the meat (3/4 of our orders) was overcooked. The drinks all felt like half pours at full price. The bill was wrong after they charged us double for the 2 dishes that were sent back to be remade.
Exquisite food beautiful setting friendly service. Even after a snafu with our order, the staff ensured we still had an enjoyable experience and had no issue resending out a new dish cooked to the right temp. They even brought out an extra salad while we waited. Food was worth the wait.
Great restaurant, one of the best places we ate on the island during our stay there.
The ramen noodles are on point! So good that they serve it with a ladle oh, trust me you'll need it!
Don’t understand why anyone would rate this place more than a three star. The ramen had no taste. Waiter warned broth is spicy, it’s not even close. Hot n spicy microwave bowl is better tasting. Kitchen made up pallela for boyfriend as dish was online but not on menu. So kitchen was nice enough to create the dish for him. The dish came to look like a rice stew. Horrible but he ate it as didn’t want to be rude as kitchen made effort to make dish for him. He now has to take Alkaseltzer for the heartburn.
Ate there twice! Food & service great both times.
Small menu that hits all the creative notes that Roy is famous for
Good food but a bit pricey
Good, but nothing extra ordinary or memorable about it.
Good food and good service
Great tasting local food. The ahi was great, so was the poke although it was a bit different than what you’d expect from traditional poke.
Kinda disappointing, really. All the dishes we got were done well but there was nothing exciting about the flavors.
Really unique modern eats at Eating House 1849. Great service and excellent atmosphere - we really enjoyed both meals we had here while in the area. Creative menu options that were full of flavor - the food is fresh and is thoughtfully prepared. I would definitely recommend a dinner here when in the area.
Just did drinks at the bar, friendly bartender, explained the drinks and some of the local rums. Friendly service. Tasty cocktails and comes with edamame snack.
Food is so good! Our special date spot.
Always love the authentic Hawaiian food but this place brings Mainland and Island Style cuisine to another level much props to the boys in the kitchen and the service is da kine that represents the our polynesian heritage and foundation Mahalo and Ofa Atu
You have to eat here. Great food and sevice.
Excellent fresh food and service.
Excellent. Very neat spinoff of other Roy’s Restaurants. Atmosphere, service and food all phenomenal. We will be returning on our next trip to Hawaii!
The sizzle Kenpachi is the best I've ever had
High expectations and was not disappointed. Had the cauliflower and brussel sprouts, then the blackened ahi. Yum.
The eating house 1849 Koloa is a great restaurant. We arrived at about 8:00 with no reservations, and they were quick to seat us. We got free edamame almost immediately, and the drinks were soon to follow. The menu, while not having a ton of selection, did have enough to where everyone in my party of 4 ordered something to their liking. The food arrived warm and it was delicious to say the least. Overall the staff was very attentive and nice, and the atmosphere was great! I'll definitely head back next time I'm in town.
Food was really exceptional. Ate here two nights in a row, and will definitely return if we get the chance on another vacation. Reservations are definitely recommended.
Food and service were great. We tried 5 items from the menu and all were delicious. The dumplings, the Caesar salad, the braised short rib, the ramen and the peanut butter chocolate soufle.
What a fabulous meal and experience! The service (thank you Amanda!), cocktails (the lychee martini), appetizers (calamari and brussel sprouts), the food (paella and short ribs) and the dessert (chocolate souffle, oh my). The best meal we've had on Kauai.
Ribeye and seared ahi we're divine! Beautiful sunset view. Amazing winelist. Service started out great, and then it was as if our waiter forgot about us. For the price, I expected better service. Better service would have warranted 5 stars.
Very good food and cocktail for reasonable price.
Food was top-notch and offered good variety. Definitely a nice fancy dinner on the island. Highly recommend the chocolate soufflé. Service was a bit slow, but this seems both common for the island and they seemed slightly shorted staffed given the hurricane that was predicted to come through.
The food is amazing! Just a bit pricey
Great ambiance and service with interesting fusion menu. Good if you're in experimental mood. Not for comfort food experience. Great place to bring kids bc they have keiki menu that includes cheese quesadilla appetizer which they bring right away.
Well-conceived place but we aren't particularly adventurous eaters & was hard to find something appetizing on the eclectic menu. Wife liked her fried chicken (legs & thighs), which was probably the only thing either of us would order. Sent back the spicy ramen noodles with an unusual & earthy mushroom-y broth. Ordered an apple volcano dessert which was lukewarm, possibly to keep the ice cream solid but took away from the dish. Service was very good & helpful despite our issues. Wish we liked the food better.
Awesome food. Nice view and great staff
Can't go wrong if Roy has something to do with it. Have to try the crispy pata with pancit. Almost like moms
Amazing food, great service, one-of-a-kind view!
Delicious and creative food. We shared most of the dishes among four of us. Excellent and attentive service, very friendly staff.
This place is definitely worth the price and the food and service were excellent. The rice bowl with Butterfish rocked our world! Were recommended to go to Brennecke's by the concierge desk and regretted not going to the eating house twice instead! Thanks for excellent service!
One of our favorites. Great food and great service. Nice children's menu. Always make a reservation.
Went there for a pre-wedding dinner with 30 people and it was a great experience. Service was attentive and food was great.
Solid 3 stars. The dumplings and the sizling beef appetizer were good. The tomatoes in the mozzarella salad were mealy and to be honest I though the butterfish hot pot was not good at all. The fish was very, very fishy tasting and was in basically the same sauce as the appetizer. I would not visit again.
It was my wife and I 10th wedding anniversary and made our night very special!! Our waiter Adam went above and beyond!!! The chef's cooked us an amazing dinner!! It's a must place to go to eat!!!
I had the king salmon (chef recommendation of medium); hubby had the burger. Each dish had a striking balance between salt and acid. The flavors were vibrant, and the textures delightful. Spring for the soufflé; you will find yourself contemplating licking the plate! Overall fantastic food, great atmosphere, friendly and professional service. Time your reservation 30 minutes before sunset so you enjoy the ocean views.
The food was amazing. The atmosphere was welcoming. I can’t stop raving about how awesome the service here was...our glasses were never empty and the waitress was so warm and kind. Best dessert ever!
Best food near Poipu for special occasion. Their seated tune is incredible. Loved mushroom soups, kale salad as well. Chocolate soufflé cake is to die for.
The staff, service and food were superb. I’ve been here twice, and both times I have left convinced that was the best dinner I’ve ever had.
Excellent service, good food, and nice atmosphere. We shared 2 small plates of gyoza, and calamari Both we're as expected and delicious. Yummy sauce, nice presentation, and we'll cooked. We ordered fried chicken and ramen, some of the meals around $20 a plate, which is more affordable. Neither blew us away, but both were good. The desserts looked great but we were so full from dinner we didn't order any. Overall good, but the best meals were over priced and what we ordered was just ok for the cost.
Best meal and service I had in two weeks on Kauai. The staff was very professional and on top of your every need, often before you could even think you needed anything. The piella was incredible. In fact all the dishes served were a feast for both the eye and pallete. Top shelf above the competition. Great job to all!
The restaurant has a great atmosphere not on the beach but has views of the ocean very pleasant atmosphere casual dining with great food. If you like calamari they have an awesome dish food is very reasonable and service is spectacular I've never felt so well cared for at a restaurant. My wife and I were here and our drinks were never left empty and the servers were very friendly and knowledgeable about the dish on the menue. Highly recommend and would return. Reservations recommended at busy times.
They got us a table even though I mistakenly reserved a table at the Honolulu location. Great, friendly service, and food to match.
Unfortunately, the service was horrible. We had reservations but 3-4 walk ups were seated before us. The service at the table was so slow that the people that were sat after us were long gone before we got our dinner :( i have visited this location before and this was a disappointment. Hope they get better help in the future.
Nice place for a good meal. The prices are high compared to the quality, but this is Hawaii... At least the service was nice.
Eating house is great!!! my busser Collin was most helpful
Fantastic place. A must when in Poipu.
This is one of our favorite restaurants on Kauai! I love the Hot Pot with Butterfish (melt in your mouth delicious) and I understand the ramen is outstanding. Always one of our first choices in Kauai!
Amazing food, amazing service! I would recommend this place for sure! When we return we will definitely eat here again!
Great food and knowledge staff
Best short ribs ever had Melt in your mouth
The selection of food was very good and the food itself was superb! The wait staff was friendly and efficient. They even seated people at every other table to allow conversation when the restaurant wasn't crowded. The setting and decide were unusual and comfortable. It was a fantastic dining experience that we can't wait to repeat. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Best restaurant in Kukui'ula
Excellent food and excellent service. I had the ahi tuna and it was gigantic and delicious. My wife had the fried chicken, which was also delicious. Our waiter was very friendly and gave us good recommendations, and you could tell he enjoyed his job. Other staff was really friendly as well. Excellent place for a nice dinner with a nice breeze coming through.
Charged us 7 dollars for a simple lemonade. Food is okay, but not with it.
Great food great service try to go during sunset great views of the ocean clean bathrooms try the Rubin sandwich and fried chicken
It was a disappointing dinner. We arrived on time for our reservation and were asked to wait behind 5 other groups to be seated. But you could clearly see that the restaurant was only 1/3 full! Besides us, others showing up without reservations were being turned away being told there might be openings 90 minutes later. During all our time there the place never got more than 50% full (Sunday night). I think this was a case of not having enough wait staff. Once we got seated the service was slow. However the food was good. On that point our server never told us about the daily specials. We had to hear about it from the table next door and by then we had already ordered. Sorry for this price this place has to do better.
Our family loves going to Roy's restaurant whenever we are in Hawaii. This trip however, we were not close to any Roy's restaurant but lucky we found the Eating House which was created by Roy Yamaguchi. The menu is different but we found most of our favorite dishes such as the baby back ribs and the rainbow ahi as appetizers, the misoyaki butterfish (which is served a little differently) as an entree and the molten lava cake for dessert. They also have a great kids menu for the nine year old in our family. Our waiters were very helpful when we had questions on the menus and very attentive. Five stars!
Enjoyed this restaurant. We sat right be the kitchen and were able to see the food prepared. Our favorite part of the mean was the fried brussel sprouts and cauliflower appetizer. We could have eaten it as an entree.
Anyone who goes to Kauai should go here. There price is actually very reasonable for high end food especially when compared to other restaurants around it that don't offer the same quality or service. Their friend chicken is excellent and their seafood dishes are good as well. The staff was super accommodating helping us with our daughter as she was sleeping. Overall the best experience we had in Kauai
Made a reservation for 6.45p last Sunday. Arrived just before appointed time and was told there were people in front of us. OK- but you could see lots of open tables. We waited 15 minutes to be seated...what was point of having reservation? Great atmosphere here, however we were surprised no fresh fish but ahi tuna on menu. Waiter seemed to be going through motions but detached. Spicy Ramen was wonderful! We come to Poipu 2-3 times a year and Eating House 1849 will not be on our list of restaurants for future outings!
Fantastic food and the staff knows how to take care of the children at your table better than other restaurants.
Good food and a nice spot. Service was just a little over bearing which can be nice, but in this case was a bit much.
Dining at Eating House is the highlight of my vacation. The service is impecable and the food is amazing. I have never been disappointed by a meal at Eating House.
Best restaurant we've been to on the south shore
Best restaurant on the island. The food is outstanding from the appetizers to the main course as well as the desserts. The staff are also the best and the hostesses always have that nice warm inviting smile. If you want to sit and eat at the bar the bartenders also provide great service and know all there is to know about Kauai. Ask for Naturally when you arrive, she knows what great customer service is and will make sure your experience here is one to remember. I cant say enough great things about this restaurant. The portions are the perfect size and If you dont leave here stuffed and with a smile on your face then you ended up somewhere other than here. They dont know how to give bad service, it's not in their vocabulary.
Great food and drinks!
Slightly pricey when compared to the competition, but the quality of the food justifies the extra cost. My girlfriend had the mushroom soup and ribeye steak, I had the rainbow poke and the wild boar and beef burger. Given my lowcarb diet - they were happy to sub the french fries out for a kale salad - which was also excellent. My girlfriend completed her meal with the souffle (aka Volcano Cake) which she enjoyed. Our reservation was honored on time, but initally when they seated us, they placed us next to a large party that was quite noisy although they had several other tables for two available. The people managing the seating did not seem cognizant of this. They moved us to a quieter table with no problem upon request. Overall, the service was very good. The server was assisted by several staff who made sure we were well taken care of. The restaurant is located on the second floor, there is a elevator that is somewhat hidden on the side of the building. The second floorlocation allows for a view of the ocean. The noise levelis somewhat high - unless you are seated along the perimeter. I recommend this restaurant for a great foodie quality dinner. The dinner described above was $125 with unsweet tea, before tax and gratuity.
Nice! But I miss Roy's!
Very good food and service.
Delicious Hawaiin inspired food! I got a spicy shrimp and rice dish and it was very tasty. They give you edamames as a complimentary appetizer which I found pretty cool and authentic.
Great experience. Our server, Amanda B, was excellent. We ordered pot sticker appetizer, fried chicken, and ramen bowl. Delicious. Best meal we had on Kauai.
Great food, cocktails, atmosphere and services . The surrounding shopping area is nice. Price is reasonable for the quality. Highly recommended. Best restaurant I’ve been in Kauai.
Good food, service and atmosphere
Shocked how bad the noodle is. It's raw and all stick together. At least they let us return it. We changed to rice while it's still under cooked. When we walked out, we noticed all desk left the rice untouched.
Atmosphere and staff are great. The area 1849 is located in has the most to offer on the island. I would have said 5, but in my opinion Merriman right across the walk way edges it out slightly. Any of the deserts are amazing and the fresh catch was great. I went with the special pork dish. Definitely believe them when they say it's a lot of food. Also grab some Mai tais at the bar while you wait.
I loved it here the Ambiance is amazing the service is great the food is out of sight such a great experience
Wonderful experience, great food and nice sunset
Really good food and good service. Although it's a bit pricey, I'd recommend the Butterfish Hot Rice Pot. The ribeye in the appetizer section was really good too. The potstickers were some of the best I've had at a restaurant. The "Roy's original ribs" were just okay. If you want some veggies, the cauliflower & brussel sprouts were really good. Had the souffle and malasadas and they were fantastic. Also enjoyed a couple cocktails and they weren't bad either. All in all, I'd recommend this place to anyone.
Super impressed with this sugar plantation-inspired concept from Roy Yamaguchi. Small plates from different regions are the go-to move here. Not cheap, but all delicious, and a great way to share a meal with friends or family. Desserts were ridiculously good. Stuck with beer, because the cocktail descriptions looked pretty terrible, but that's par for the course on Kauai. Great service and and plenty of aloha.
Great food and service. First off, the edamame was prepared amazingly. The appetizers were amazing and the ramen bowl was great.
The Burger was the best one i've ever eaten
The reason I love this place is because they actually cook. I myself am a chef. And I really enjoy the fact that Someone in the kitchen knows what they're doing.
Fabulous food, amazing service. Waited two years to come back, and we weren't disappointed!
Loved seeing the kitchen at work through spotless windows. Great setting on the 2nd level. Our service was very good. Beet salad was incredible. Strong reputation is well deserved.
Great food!!
Food was fantastic. Great atmosphere and service. Lived up to our expectations.
Hands down, the best burger I've ever had. (I'm originally from Wisconsin. I know burgers.)
This was the best place we ate on the whole island! Good food and great people.
Pricier than other options, but excellent food and service. Easily one of our best meals on the island.
Love the open air concept and overall comfortable feel. It’s like a Roys(Hawaiian fusion) but with a fun plantation theme and casual environment. The dishes and sauces are incredible. The chocolate soufflé is a must!
The Hapa burger is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Service was also great.
We were only on the island for five days but we ended up eating there three times. We prefer the friendly banter at the bar with their full menu. Great food, service and memories.
Great view, amazing dinner. All capped by great service. Went back for a second time. The first time we ate just about the entire set of small plates and then just shared the butterfish. OMG, the fish was amazing. The server was spot on with her recommendations and they took great care of us for our anniversary.
Eating house 1849 has a beautiful setting, its open and you can feel the breeze running through while you eat. I had a “homegrown” drink and it was perfect. The food was amazing. I ordered the sashimi and the pork, and they were both delicious. Out of all the restaurants we ate at while in Kauai, this one was the one we enjoyed the most.
The food, service, and views were excellent. We found this place on Yelp and it did not disappoint. If you like fresh fish or Sushi, try the rare blackened Ahi, that paired with the cauliflower and Brussels sprouts apetizer makes a great meal! You definitely want to eat here if you are staying in Poipu for a few days or a week.
Absolutely fantastic!
My husband and I are celebrating our 30th anniversary and wanted somewhere nice, but most importantly, great food while in Kauai to help celebrate and remember our special day. Eating House 1849 did not disappoint! Excellent food and service! Our table had a festive ribbon to commemorate our celebration. I asked for a table with a view, and they obliged. Unfortunately, it was very cloudy, so missed a beautiful sunset, but still a nice view. They started us off with complimentary edemame with sesame oil...very nice. We ordered the short rib and butterfish...ono (delicious!). Our server came with the dessert menu early in case we wanted to order the chocolate souffle... we did! Very warm and delicious. And for our anniversary, they served us churros with an orange/chocolate sauce for dipping. All had a beautiful presentation and sooooo "ono"!
Excellent food and service
Excellent food, cocktails, and service in a lovely open-air setting.
Great food and excellent service, original and unique recipes with great presentation. Sit on the far inside of the restaurant for a gorgeous sunset or the the front edge of the restaurant for a beautiful view of the plaza and shops at night.
Wide menu variety for our group of seven picky eaters. Everything was fresh and delicious. Will definitely return to try something else on the menu.
Food was surprisingly good here. Service was great and they are very accommodating for kids. Saw a sunset off their balcony which was beautiful. Their whole fish is definitely shareable. Order the lava cake early as it took about 30min to arrive.
Hospitality, kindness, professionalism, and kickin food. Wow, not one item will disappoint you on this menu, and not to mention...the people serving! True Hawaiian hospitality. It's so good, we reserved a table for the next night RIGHT when we finished our first one. The food and drinks were so delicious, my family and I have never enjoyed such a fresh and savory meal like this before. It is higher in price, but WORTH the price. Highly recommend.
The husband and I absolutely loved it. We were looking for a place nicer but still layed back. We have fallen in love! It was romantic. Our server was extremely attentive and our food came out quickly. We had everything from appetizers to desert and everything was so very good. I cannot thank you enough. We will certainly be back❤
Solid eatery with good food and drinks in an upstairs open-air setting.
Fried chicken with mashed potatoes is to die for
Great Location, great service. However, the seafood was very disappointing, for a restaurant in Kauai. The dishes that came we’re not the ones explained, and the quality was poor. All of this with an extremely high-price left us with a very bitter taste. Would not recommend.
Service was great! Our bartender said she was new to working in the bar that she recently was promoted from food runner. I didnt catch her name but she was extremely nice and friendly. Also, had great knowledge about the menu and the local area. We stopped in to just have beer but she was so wonderful we made reservations to come back to eat when we are hungry. The menu looks delicious! Definately a place to stop for fun, friendly, service. Make reservations though. They looked busy! As for beers we tried the red rice ale from Japan. Delicious and unique! I had never seen this beer before!
This was our second time to 1849, the first time was very poor. We decided to give them a second try and had a very nice meal. The Ramen broth was great, noodles cooked perfect (Very firm, Pork tofu Lumpia was hot and crisp. The paella was good lots of flavor but was not in any way paella, more of a cooked rice and meat dish. Service was attentive without being in the way. We are locals and we go back.
Absolutely wonderful little gem. Amazing views of the sunset on the ocean and food so delicious. Our server Michael was very energetic and knowledgeable of the menu and made great recommendations. Food tasted fresh and you can see in the glass kitchen that everything was cooked to order.
Best place we ate on vacation hands down, but the waiter could have used another lesson on customer service. I still highly recommend eating here aside from the waiter. Make sure to get reservations early enough to be seated before sundown and get a seat near the window for a memorable sunset. What else can I say, our food was excellent, not overly expensive compared to what you get at other restaurants. I think the portions are fair, but to not be biased I think desert could use some improvement. Overall I have no complaints.
Very good food and excellent service.
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great night out.
Appetizers were great — calamari, potstickers and brussel sprouts. The iron pot rice with butterfish was also tasty. Desserts weren’t great — malasadas were dense and the lililkoi tart was overly sweet.
The place is a historic original Roy restaurant. The place does not look like one of those high end restaurants, rather it seems more casual and mixture of fusion Asian and American food restaurant. The slow braised beef short ribs was a very large portion, but it wasn't tastefully good same as the ribs from other Roy restaurant. It was too dry and wish it had some side vegetables. The "Kamameshi" chicken was ok, the chicken didn't blend well with other side vegetables and rice.
Simply incredible! The view is gorgeous. The staff was wonderful (kudos to Amanda!!!!). Food-- fresh and delicious. This was our second time to the island and the experience was unrivaled!
Came here because we love Roy's in California so thought we'd try it out. Only a few minute wait while they found us a table on a Tuesday evening around 7:30pm. The wait staff was very courteous and made recommendations for dinner. We decided to go with the cauliflower and brussel sprout appetizer which was excellent! Just the right amount of each flavor made it the perfect prep for our main course. My wife and I both got the "kamameshi" with the misoyaki butterfish. A hot pot iron skillet dish with white rice on the bottom with furikake, a medley of fresh vegetables including mushrooms, snap peas, and bok choy covered by the perfect, melt in your mouth piece of Alaskan miso marinated black cod that is so unbelievably good it left a very lasting impression on both my wife and I. So much so that we came back the next night and ordered exactly the same thing!! Quite possibly the best thing that I have ever eaten in my life! Only wish we didn't have to wait til the next time we came to Kauai to eat it again! Thank you so much for such a great meal and awesome service too! 5 stars across the board!
This is an amazing restaurant to celebrate. They put us at the table with the best view of the sunset and water and then gave us an order of churros. The waiters were the perfect amount of attentive. The food is inventive, high quality, and local. I'd highly recommend the taro bun burger and lilikoi tart.
service here is sweet and nice cocktail was great but super girly
Nice 2nd floor open air venue in shopping center. Dinners were $25-$50. Enjoyed the sashimi appetizer and chocolate souffle desert. Rib eye was a little overcooked.
Food was phenomenal. Service was even better. Definitely try the dumplings and ramen. And the malasadas. They are warm and the rum sauce with them is too good to pass up. Be prepared for a wait on the weekend though.
Good service, excellent food, good location.
One of our best meals of the trip! I had the blackened ahi and it was perfect. My wife is not a fish eater and had plenty of non-fish options. She got a chicken rice bowl that she loved. Really was difficult to decide because of the great menu options. Perfect for a nicer dinner. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Delicious food and great atmosphere.. Service is top notch Friendly employees enjoying there work there! A must stop when on Kauai
Amazing food, service and great atmosphere
Amazing! There are no words to describe this place. The ambiance is great - you can see into the kitchen and you can the sunset setting across the water as well, if you are lucky enough to eat during sunset. The food was great. The children's menu was great - the kids get a starter and a dessert along with their meal for just $15. Anyone who comes to Kauai should eat here. We wanted to go again. We would definitely be back!
Eating House 1849 is always a wonderful eating experience. Food and service is superb!
Amazing menu with many options for Celiac's or gluten sensitivity. The food was flavourful and deeply satisfying after a long day outside. Their cream of mushroom soup was especially delicious - with a touch of truffle oil. We will definitely return here if we are ever back on Kauai. Thank you, Eating House 1849 - for giving us a great dinner experience on our holiday to your island!
This place never disappoints! Everytime we visit Kauaì we have to stop at Eating House 1849! Anytime I have to think of the best meal I've ever had, there's never a second thought, it's this place!! From their burgers to their butter fish, they cook and season everything perfectly!! Please don't forget the dumplings, you won't find anything better! We've also been looking for a good chardonnay for awhile and decided to try Roy's signature brand chardonnay while we here and go figure it's exactly what we had been looking for! The perfect clean crisp taste with a nice bite on the back end, we may have had a bottle more than we should have!! Be sure to make reservations, this place can get pretty busy!!
Best restaurant we ate at on our week trip to Kauai
Excellent Calamari and the seasonal tuna was very good. Portion sizes are good as well. Service was excellent. We did find the cocktails to be unbalanced; one was very sweet and the other very bitters-forward.
Great food, good service, spacious seating. We added Serrano peppers to the Ramen for an added kick. Browned Butter Blond dessert had a nice controversy of sweet and savory because of the macadamia nuts and ginger ice cream with butterscotch syrup. Overall this is a excellent evening meal choice. Fair warning Nothing is inexpensive here...
