guy who works here said for us to use bio start on our tank and gave us instructions to use half a bottle then and half a bottle later. less than 2 hours later our fish was acting erratic, then lethargic. fast forward 2 days later and it's dead because of fin rot caused by the biostart. he kept saying that goldfish are hearty enough to deal with 80 degree water and that we dont have to do much. now i have to explain to my girlfriend her beloved fish is dead. seriously, screw you dude... he was healthy till your bad advice. i would never go here again. an amazing petsmart employee said they probably sold us an expired bottle that raised the ammonia and contained harmful bacteria. -.- I'm really disappointed and his poor care ended a fishes life.

They are knowledgeable which is great, but I am always treated rudley. If it was once that would be no big deal, but it happens every time. Best local fish store in town. Smells great, (No dirty tank smell) very clean tanks and extremely healthy fish. I came in with no intention of buying, just to look around and see the stores quality and ended leaving with some Angels and a few other items. The prices are marked up on a few stocked items but the fish are fairly priced for being pre-treated and healthy. The gentleman helping me was very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend this store to any and all aquarium enthusiast. I will be back to do all my shopping. SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES!

Best freshwater and saltwater pet store around. They really care . Ask a lot of questions,. They won't let you buy fish they know your going to kill. They make sure you get what you need for an awesome tank. Without overstocking , stocking prematurely, and making sure fish you buy are compatible. I've had a lot of fish tanks in my life I've never been to a pet store that took so much time to make sure that I got what I needed which isn't always what I want but always to make sure that they live. I highly recommended this store if you don't always know what you're doing, which many don't when starting fish tanks.

Very limited selection and the owner was rude. He refused to sell me small bala sharks. He arrogantly seemed to think he knew my fish would die. I took my money to den fish co. the next day and I got a bala shark 4 times the size of the ones at Neptune. My bala shark is completely healthy, and I wont be bringing my business back to Neptunes.

Weekends it can be a bit packed here. I have always had good service you just need to realize there are only a few workers helping a store full of people and they will get to you. They are pretty good about helping the next person waiting for something from one of their tanks and only help you while picking fish or coral then paying and onto the next person.

I've been here a couple of times for freshwater fish and incidentals. They have a good assortment of fish, crustaceans, and driftwood. They also seem to have a good selection of saltwater animals etc., but I don't know much about saltwater. I've seen a few reviews complaining about service, but my experience has been the exact opposite. In fact, the first time I came in, I had my two little girls with me, and one of the employees took time to explain some facts to them about the particular species they were looking at. I also purchased a crayfish for my aquarium there and, after it was clear the crayfish would not play nice with the aquatic plants (or other tankmates), they took her back and gave me a credit towards better crustaceans for my tank with no hassles. They are also very upfront about holding new fish before selling to ensure they're selling healthy fish.

Fish and tanks all look amazing and healthy, just need a more welcoming environment. I saw how staff treated "regulars," much different than those of us new to the hobby. this is my 2nd favorite place in town, but don't look down on us newcomers!

I usually never write reviews, but I feel like I need to. I first found out about Neptune’s in 7th grade. My middle school had an aquarium club, and we would visit this store often to stock the fish tanks and admire their selection of fish. I am now 18 years old, and have become quite an advanced fish keeper, and as I knew about Neptune’s I would frequently stop in to buy fish. But lately their service and quality of fish have just gone downhill. Let me start by saying I look very young for my age, and when I was trying to get helped they just ignored me and helped other people even though I had been waiting longer, not sure if it’s because I look a lot younger than I am or what, but i’ve read many other reviews that the customer service is awful and I’d have to agree. Also when I was in a few weeks ago I bought a beautiful betta fish, but he suddenly just passed away on me. I know it wasn’t my water as I check my water frequently. It was a sudden death and I can’t think of any other cause than Neptune’s. All in all, the people are completely disrespectful and rude, act like they are better than you, their fish can die on you and they will blame it on you, and not to mention the prices are very high to be paying for fish that don’t last.

The store it self is amazing. They have everything that you need. The staff are great on some days, and other days they are rude. No one seems to be k. The same page as to when fish are available once they come in( I know they have a process for making sure they are sellable but everyone should know when they will be available to sell) prices don’t really bother me but it does bother me when they have no price up for certain fish and make you pay a higher price for a different color fish but it’s ultimately the same as another fish they have a price for. They also have a hold policy unlike any I have ever heard of. They just keep holding for a week or until they get some in but when I tried to do that they told me I needed to wait until they were in. New resident from Florida just have to say the staff is great. The manager was the one helping me and he was awesome. Small town little shop has mostly everything you need. They have a rewards program which is cool. They have great selections on fish and 1000% knowledgeable on anything. They do free water testing aswell. Next time your out looking for some new fish or just getting started this is your new one stop shop. Also prices here are very good compared to some of the other stores around town.

Good location, they have a decent selection of fish. However, they are overpriced. The employees should be more informed with certain things. I paid way too much for a certain fish that was a regular color morph but they insisted I had to buy the "albino" price because there wasn't a price listed for the regular color morphs. The fish I bought had ich as well.

I was trying to buy a pair of fish which they were selling for 49.99 not bad but I guess she didn't realize they were put on hold for someone who was suppose to pick them up on the 1st, it's almost a week and she says she can't sell them so I then ask did they put a down payment down and she replied they don't do that at that store. So I asked to talk to the manager she kindly left to grab her. When she comes out the first thing she says is someone put money down the day before for $1500..

While I've seen more impressive shops in bigger cities, I highly recommend having this be your go-to establishment in Denver. I really hate to give Neptune's a one star review but my most recent experience was sadly my last. I debated writing a review for the last week but based on what happened recently, reading others reviews, and other stores information I decided to do so as well. My family and I have been coming to Neptune's for at least 6 years and the experiences here have gotten progressively negative over the last few. We have multiple freshwater tanks; this was the place for us to come get plants and fish. My wife stopped coming to shop here about a year ago after catching Patrick indiscreetly gawking at her bottom. She is a beautiful woman and men glancing at her is nothing new to her but this is a business there should be professional behavior expressed by the employees. We found a few other stores with respectful employees. Some of which had not so nice things to say about Neptune's. I continued to come by the store here and there; I liked this store and my work is nearby. I have noticed the past two years the care in freshwater has diminished at an extremely rapid pace. Always something dead in a good percentage of the tanks and the plants appear to be mostly in rough shape unless you come right when there's some new ones. We liked Patrick at first even though he is a pretty strange man. Patrick has gotten more unhelpful and condescending then before. It's frustrating as I would like to come in here and feel welcomed. The most recent experience was the worst. I was in here on a Friday with Patrick and two newer employees that I had not seen before. I came in went straight over to the plants as my wife was seeking some different sword species then what we currently possess. The new female employee Kayla I believe; was up toward the register with a customer while Patrick and the new male employee were over on the aisle with all the freshwater fish tanks right where I could see and hear their conversation. I don't know if Patrick realizes that fish tanks do not work as a wall and everything that's said can be heard through the spaces between the tanks. Patrick made an extremely inappropriate comment about the female employee that I perceived as sexual. The other male employee made an uncomfortable chuckle and walked away. I decided at that point I would find some plants elsewhere from now on. I am a grown man and I will always have admiration for beautiful women but there is a line of admiration that should not be crossed. That line certainly should not be crossed by a store manager with customers in the store. We found a new store to shop at that's actually really nice. We were telling the employee about our experiences here which he proceeded to tell us it wasn't the first time he had heard these types of things about Neptune's. He said many years ago Patrick had kicked him out of the store for not agreeing with something Patrick said. He also said that he had a friend that works at Neptune's that Patrick had attacked. Seeing the multiple reviews complaining about Patrick, the info I have gotten at other stores, my wife's negative experience, and now mine I don't believe we will be returning to this store until he is removed. I can't wrap my head around why Sharon the owner keeps this man on her staff. It appears he uses her store as a platform to act out his sexual predation. I am sure one day if he is not taken off her payroll it will cost her her store. We have told everyone we know about our experiences and directed them elsewhere to shop. Pet stores should be a place of comfort where the animals are treated with compassion and care. Employees should treat customers with respect and do not make them uncomfortable or treat them as they are stupid. As I said I hate to write a bad review about this store. I know negative reviews can really hurt a small family owned shop as such. If I don't care for something I experience with a business I just stay away from it but this time after physically hearing this man expressing his perversions I had to tell other people our story. Here lady since you seem to miss previous complaints

What a fish store should be. Not everyone will have a great review, but that's because every place has its pros and cons. The difference here is that there are more positives about this place than any other shop I've been to in the state. I'll start by saying that I'm a saltwater enthusiast. In the tropical fish industry, it is unheard of to quarantine fish for 2 weeks upon their arrival. This place does it. They will even hold a fish for sale from the quarantine for you. All of their other display tanks are single sump. Meaning non-shared filtration. This is another way they can stop the spread of disease and more importantly mean that one sick fish down the row won't kill your healthy fish. They have all sorts of equipment and suppliments and they are generally easy to talk to and ask questions of. What fish store does all that?

I visited Neptunes a few weeks ago for the first time and was not happy. I went two different days hoping the 2nd visit would be better. The first day I had brought my water snail in for them to look at as there was something wrong with his poor shell. I don't know the names of the employees but I brought him to an older woman whom I'm assuming is the owner. She began scraping aggressively at his shell with her fingernail which made me uncomfortable but I didn't say anything. She then dropped him from at least a foot in the air into his glass bowl which made a loud "clink" and I gasped in surprise. She asked in a sharp voice "is something wrong?" and I kindly said "Can you just please be more gentle with my snail?" and she replied with "He's fine. I do this all the time" in such a condescending tone and then she continued to scrape away at his shell. Then, as it was my first time in there, I wanted to check out the other fish so I walked around for a bit. I had tons of questions I wanted to ask but it was so busy in there and there were only 2 employees working, no one even noticed I was waiting around to ask questions. So after a half hour at the least, I finally left. I then came back with my boyfriend maybe a week later in the middle of a week day hoping for a better experience thinking it wouldn't be as busy. Wrong. It was filled with people and again, only 2 employees. So we walked around for quite some time looking at all the fish and came across an angel fish that was lying at the bottom of the tank, clearly it was sick and couldn't fend for itself and all these sucker fish were chewing on its fins. So we waited and waited for an opportunity to let one of the staff know (they both clearly saw us looking at them to be helped but continued to ignore us) and finally as a male employee walked by us pretending not to notice us, I stopped him and kindly pointed out the sick fish and told him we just wanted to let someone know and he rudely and shortly said "yeah that fish is dying" and abruptly walked away to help someone else. We couldn't believe it! It's safe to say, we will not be going back to Neptunes.

On a whim decided to stop in Neptune's on my way home from work. When I stopped in it was much busier than I expected it to be and every customer was actively being helped by a staff member! As soon as a member finished with their customer I was greeted and made to feel very welcome in the store. I think I ended up interacting with every staff member there asking noob question after question about how to set up a fresh water garden tank. Not a single time did any staff member treat me as if I was a burden or as if the questions I had were dumb. After much research I discovered that Neptune's had the most comprehensive and best priced 10 Gal start up kit! All the fish looked healthy, tanks were all clean, all the plants were bright and lively, store was clean and well stocked. Even all the Betta fish looked happy! I will be returning to purchase the start up kit, plants, snails and Betta. Bonus - the day I stopped in it was an all female staff, which I have not experienced in these types of shops before and was pleasantly surprised by.

I love coming to Neptune's. The fish change weekly, both salt water and fresh water. The staff really knows what they are doing and are very helpful. Fish are healthy and the tanks are well maintained.

THIS IS THE BEST FISH STORE IN COLORAOD! I have a 350 gal salt water tank. They have been there since day one helping me with fish selection and going threw cycling my tank. I have never owned a salt water tank ever and they have helped me and taught me everything needed to be successful. For the people on here complaining about price! You get what you pay for. You want diseased fish go to petsmart and buy cheap fish. They treat their fish for 2 weeks to make sure you are getting the best quality possible. This place is amazing and I will never shop any where else

over priced everything!! I get you have to make profit but why is a blue hippo tang the size of a quarter 90 dollars and 45 everywhere else? And $180 for a purple tang that was also extremely small? Everything in that store is a rip off and the quality is not there. These are fish, not hand crafted collectables. Anybody can sell fish, there is nothing they do to justify paying double for a fish. Screw this place.

This has been a fantastic location. I got in the hobby about a year ago and they have been extremely helpful. I've got just about all my fish, plants, and decor from here and I would highly suggest it. They do tend to be a little marked up compared to Amazon and other online retailers on their other non-live products but it being a specialty store that is kinda the standard. This staff knows what they are talking about. Extremely knowledgeable. Added bonus, they have a really cute parot that will check all bills for fakes.

We went here to pick out our sons first fish. We were disappointed with the service and the lack of interest they had in even giving us basic information. We ended up with two betas and a very small tank not even fish food. When I asked was told it was in the tank package but one packet obviously doesn't suffice. After setting up our tank we realized was too small. Sadly went to Petco and got what we needed. Wanted to support local but won't go back.

This place is amazing. Each tank is it's own habitat, they aren't connected. You can tell everyone is healthy and happy. The owner is very knowledgeable and has recommendations for your tank needs (fish that work together, how many for your own tank, foods, plants, even when to add fish). We are extremely excited to have someone that is very versed in tank health. Will continue to come here for our needs.

Great selection of fish I purchase a black ghost knife today into tiger fish. Tanks are very clean staff is very helpful they quarantine all their fish until they're ready to sell and they make sure that they're healthy. A little on the pricey side but worth it if your fish you're going to live

Decent selection of fish. They do have saltwater and freshwater available. I love that they have seahorses available. Only reason this isn't a 5 star review is that the service is hit or miss. Sometimes great and sometimes pretty pretentious and lousy.
