Killer tacos and burritos, and who doesn't love free horchata? (If you're a college student) this place is great, and the folks are always happy to help
Favorite place for tacos in CS!
La'au's is, and has always been, a gem. It's no wonder it's the most popular among the Blue Star Group's restaurants: they accommodate all kind of diets, from vegan to vegetarian to pescatarian, and the food always tastes remarkably fresh. I can vouch for all you vegans and vegetarians out there that they prepare tofu better than any other restaurant in the city – I think it would even be a nice alternative for meat eaters out there who are trying to cut down on their calories. I can definitely say I'm addicted to La'aus.
One of my favorite restaurants in Colorado Springs. It's hard to go wrong with any menu option, but the Mahi or tilapia tacos are my favorite.
Amazing food with great views. I loved sitting out on the patio eating my food with the mountains right there.
Excellent food,i will be back to La'au's asap!
My favorite taco eatery in this city... try going on a Thursday to take advantage of the pricing!
I am originally from Hawaii and went to this place for the first time the other day. I guess you can say I expected something....different. Latin staff yelling at each other in Spanish and Latin music blaring inside the establishment gave it less of an "Aloha" type feel. It felt more like a Mexican restaurant than a Hawaiian restaurant. I give them 3 stars though because at least the food was delicious. The mango salsa is really good on the grilled mahi mahi burrito I had.
The portion size is great! Wonderful food and great customer service.
I just did not like the vegetarian selection. Too sweet, add hotter sauces.
Always a great quick bite. Quite possibly the best taco in town. Exceptional fusion of cuisines!
Delicious!
Great place to stop on the way home . Healthy and tasty . Pretty quick as well .
Get the marg- you won’t regret it.
Love this place! The food is great and margaritas even better. Great bang for your buck
The best taco you will ever have.
Great food reasonably Priced.
It's been way too long since our last visit. Today's lunch: DEElish. Try the Huli Huli chicken bowl with the roasted pineapple salsa. Om. Nom. Also shared chips and salsa with their super fresh pico de gallo and aji de Peru salsa. The expanded patio was lively on a warm simmer day!
Watered down margs and mediocre food. Rumor has it, the employees aren't treated well.
This place was great the first time I went in. Every other time has not been. They don't spread the meat out in the burritos. Everything is clumped to one side it's not even Hawaiian. If Hawaiian is your thing hit up L&L bbq they are bomb. I won't be going back to this taco shop the. Mexican staff is rude and lazy.
The steak tacos as a salad were amazing! I love the extra goodies near the forks! My hubby doesn't like cilantro and I could have lots! Thanks for supporting IndyGive!
Love this spot! It's on campus and has it's own parking. Total Hawaiian theme with huli huli chicken tacos. You can get bowls, tacos or burritos. They have horchata drinks and a patio as well. Great stop for lunch or takeout. Fresh ingredients!
What a surprising little taco shop! We won a gift card, so we wanted to check out the food. Hubby ordered a steak burrito and I had the peanut butter chicken tacos! Definitely recommend this place, if you are on campus, you must check it out. I loved the charred jalapenos they offer at the lil' salsa bar. Just perfect!!
A secret hidden gem on CC’s campus. You can’t go wrong with any of the taco options. Even if you aren’t a vegetarian, highly recommend trying the veggie taco. Fantastic seasoning and I’d eat it all!
I will have to agree with other reviewers your experience will depend on who is working. I've had amazing burritos and tacos there and I've had a burrito I couldn't chew through there was so much gristle. Good experiences have outweighed the bad, but it is inconsistent.
My veggie bowl dish was very good. I like that they have vegan options although I wish they had more than just tofu as a substitute. Service was really friendly.
What is not to love when it comes to tacos (street) and beer!
Your search for great tacos should begin and end at Laau's.
Great fresh food. Great service! The guac is amazing. I highly recommend
Vegans of Colorado Springs, this is the hidden gem you've been missing all along! They fry their tofu in the air fryer and it's absolutely amazing! I get the vegetable bowl with tofu or the tofu burrito and both are the bomb. It's really an unusual genre of food (Hawaiian tacos & burritos – who would have thought?) but they are nailing the flavor and priced. La'au's is the most underrated fast, casual restaurant in Colorado Springs.
these guys did cool tacos before tacos were cool. great little neighborhood gem in Colorado Springs and always fun to take guests. plus, with the expanded patio outside, it's a perfect spot to hang out and have tacos and margs.
Love the food! Fast and friendly service. Free parking off the alley.
Delicious margaritas and u get a 10% discount if u travel by anything besides a car
Some of the best tofu I've had! I highly recommend their tofu bowls.
I love this place!
Super tasty. Exceptionally friendly staff. Love the patio. Careful with the pork - it's spicy!
I absolutely loved this place however my assistant went and snagged us some for the office and we just found someones painted fingernail in the Mahi Mahi tacos.. Talk about a great way to turn your stomach mid bite and kill your appetite!!
A tad pricy but worth it
Awesome awesome tacos! Their fish tacos with mango are stellar with great flavor. Ordered chicken quesadilla for my kids and the portions were enough for all 3 (ages 6-10). We live in Parker CO and make it a point to come here whenever we are in the Springs. Must go to when your in town.
Great food! Nice outdoor seating.
Tofu tacos on point. Will be back!!
Great Tacos! Great Service! Mahamahi Tacos were awesome!
The quality of the food served here is phenomenal! Plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas for enjoying the weather. My only complaint is that their menu can be hard to understand, so new comers spend a long time deciphering what to get. It really is the type of food you wouldn't mind having two days in a row!
If you haven't tried this place yet go try it today! I love the food. And enjoy a simple margarita while you're at it.
The food is great for what it is. However if you come in after 7PM (they close at 9) they start to break down and treat you like a nuisance. Packing up all the condiments and stacking chairs on the tables next to you as you eat. Slamming dishes and trash to push out as fast as possible.
Amazing hybrid cuisine. I love the Huli Huli Chicken Tacos. The Mango / Corn salsa is absolutely delightful adds great depth and freshness to the tacos. If you like chicken quesadilla this is the place for you. The marinade used on the chicken is flavorful and delicious.
Fresh is the word! Popping flavors! I tried a different salsa on my burrito, mango, not my favorite, but I could see how many would like it!
This place is in a really cool location. it is somewhat hard to find if you don't know the area. It is pretty small, so not a good place if you're going to sit down with more than a few people. I got the steak burrito and it was quite delicious. I also got the horchata which, to my disappointment, lacked luster. It was warm. I was given an empty cup about the size of a small from McDonald's halfway filled with ice. Then you have to walk over to the horchata dispenser to fill the cup yourself which wouldn't be so bad if the horchata was better. In my opinion this place was pretty pricey, All Things Considered. Ultimately, I'd say this is a place that's better for ordering and picking up food and then taking it home to enjoy with your own drinks and your own space
Great spot a little hidden. Fast friendly service. Delicious fish tacos.
Excellent food great atmosphere
They have cool sides you can load up on. The veggie bowl is dank
Love La'au's. Always consistent and amazing!
Good food, when we went it was pretty quiet, but service was really good
Food is good and fresh. They brought my food out pretty fast. The guac was fantastic. No complaints. If you haven't been here I recommend that you should go.
Amazing place to eat but tucked away so it's a little hard to find.
Great place to grab a burrito or taco! Love the salsa and the mix of island in the flavors. We will be back.
Completly delicious. A wonderful unexpected twist on the usual. The menu is surprisingly simple but builds extremely satisfying mix-n-match meal combos
Overpriced, but still quality and fresh food. Nice employees and good service.
OMG! So happy to have discovered this place. Great food, very fresh. You will feel welcome at this establishment. Has a cool vibe going on and is clean and fast.
We wanted to try something new tonight and decided on La'aus. The customer service was not very good at all. The cashier was stand offish and not very helpful. Definitely could use some help. We ordered to-go and the wait was short and no big deal. When we got home, we noticed they forgot to put our side of rice and beans in the bag but we did pay for it. A little disappointed with them for that. But! The food was absolutely amazing. The meat was perfect and everything was delicious. We will go back. (:
Tacos were awesome, margarita was cheap, great covered patio as well. Try the aji de peru!
07/23/2018-Review Update Thank you for the response. I honestly did not think I would receive any feedback, and want to again express that my typical experience with Laau's in the past has been excellent. For those reading the post the management did reach out to me to address the circumstances, which I appreciate. I do plan to go back to Laau's sometime and am hopeful the service will be the way it's typically been, friendly, attentive, and all around great food. Thank you! 07/26/2018 -I've come here several times and normally even when busy service is good. However today I went in when there were no customers waiting in line or for food and ordered tacos. 35 minutes later and 3 customers(who came in after me and received their food) in I go up to the counter to inquire about my order. The cashier was helpful , but came out with cold tacos and advised they made a mistake(left them someplace) and would cook fresh ones. No big deal ok. Another almost 30 minutes go by(multiple customers get food after me as well) nothing. I go back to the counter and finally advise I have to go back to work(I work close by). I left with in-edible tacos(the original ones from an hour ago were cold and wet through from sitting so long so they were trashed). I get these things happen people are human, but it would have been nice if someone just took a glance into the dining area , inquired why a customer had been sitting for an hour with no food, and taken a moment to just slow down ,say lets fix this, and got the customer on their way.
Love you
Expensive but good n fast n friendly
Tilapia tacos were awesome and the location is a nice hole in the wall.
Love the huli huli chicken bowl. You get to build your own bowls, tacos, etc. Always good. They have a huge outside deck which is great in summer. Margaritas are fresh & yummy & inexpensive. Very good guac too.
I eat here once the food was good. Next our office tried to call in a order for lunch but nobody answered the phone. When I went in they told they were busy and don't answer the phone when they are busy. I think they should come up with a better means to deal with this kind of situation.
Tacos and beer can't go wrong.
Great food when served right but the service is often terrible and they will skimp you on salsas and load up cheap rice and beans. If I'm paying nearly $15 for a burrito with guac, please don't give me a teaspoon of the nice ingredients. Also they will close without notice and be 100% unapologetic for it. A couple workers are really sweet, like Hispanic lady with crew cut. Almost everyone else has annoyed attitude at any request. Even just walking in to order. If they fix the customer service, will rate 5 stars.
Awesome tacos and that green sauce. Omgosh.
Great fish tacos but pricey for the thin single slice of fish you get and they charge for salsas. Nice toppings bar though and CBD water machine is funny, never seen that before
Excellent. The food was fresh and made to order. The tilapia bowl was outstanding and so was the guacamole and chips. I highly recommend.
Love this place! A delicious spin on the usual fast casual Mexican.
Great tacos nice people
Great tacos and margaritas. Outside seating.
Always fresh and tasty
Big tacos here, for a decent price. Bright distinct flavors, though I could stand for them to be a bit spicier. The quesadillas are huge!
You want something to eat, it doesn’t have to be authentic, just tasty. This is the place for you. Horchata is always great
This place is great. I was greeted with humor and a smile. It had several Baja style food like fish tacos, mango salsa and some great guacamole! It was small but the theme was a modern hangout, I liked it. The price isn't perfect but it's fair. The tacos are great, burritos are huge and amazing. If you are in downtown Colorado springs looking for a great meal go for it.
La'au's taco shop just made my day! Being that I'm from Texas, I've found that it's hard to find good tacos in Colorado Springs, but they served me with a great attitude and even tastier tacos. The food was so good that I just had to order a burrito to take home and enjoy later. AND they offer a ten percent discount when you walk or bike there! Needless to say, I will definitely be back for more
Can be hard to find but worth looking for it. Appears to be a taco place, but the flavors are different and good. Great guacamole and chips. I had the chicken quesadilla and it was GREAT and enough to bring home. 5 stars!
Best Taco/burrito spot in town! Food is made fresh and salsa made from scratch everyday that makes this place mouthwatering everytime you come.
My absolute favorite taco place. They are simply divine. Super fresh ingredient and pretty importantly here, the shells hold together very well despite all the salsa. The restaurant is always clean and service is prompt. I would lease my firstborn child for the chance to eat these every day.
The ginger lettuce wrap is amazing! And if you like a little bit of spice, I'd highly recommend the ahi sauce. Only downside is that it feels overpriced for what you actually get. With their walk/ride in discount though, it's worth it!
Burrito bowl was excellent. Nice lil gem.
Unique Hawaiian/Mexican food done really well.
Good food in a fun setting. We have enjoyed all the menu items we have tried and the patio seating is great. Also they offer a 10% discount for everyone how travels there using human power, but you need to make sure you ask for it even if you are dressed head to toe in bike gear. The little topping station is also a nice touch.
Very good tacos, lots of variety in ingredients. Definitely recommend this place.
Awesome tacos
like having a fish taco out on their patio, delish
Great place for tacos with a Hawaiian kick. Try a bowl with mahi mahi for something fresh and healthy.
Great food, great area, great experience.
Flies no air conditioning food was not tasty. Price was high.
First time try. Great food!
Amazing, fresh food and cheap drinks! Big fans!
La’au’s is such a charming local taco shop great for a quick snack or a big meal. The category “Hawaiian inspired Colorado taco shop” fits the food perfectly and is a delicious, irresistible description. Never skip out on an opportunity to grab some food at La’au’s. Quick note: The tofu is the best tofu you’ll ever have. No question.
The food is tasty. But the price is way more than ur should be.
Simply addicting. A little hard to spot from the road, but definitely worth the effort to track down! Tofu lettuce wraps.. yummmmmy
Delicious food with vegetarian and vegan options. The staff is usually nice, depends on who's working that day. Can get pretty crowded inside but has great outdoor seating. Def rec
My first time visiting. I ordered the huli huli chicken burrito and they mistook my order. A worker immediately offered to remake it or give me extra salsa to make it right. Unbelievable service and the place is very clean, too. As for the portions, they're huge. The burrito looked like a fat weiner dog. Almost couldn't finish it in one sitting. Would recommend to others.
Great Food and great price love the hideaway spot
AMAZING restaurant. Me and 4 of my friends (not even vegetarian) are all hooked on the tofu burrito. We live about 25 minutes away but still try to come weekly. I'm in love with this place.
La'au's can best be described as post plantation Hawaiian fused with Mexican style dishes. Their huli huli chicken doesn't shy away from ginger. Their ingredients are fresh and their service is awesome. Parking is challenging, but worth it.
Best tacos in the area. Chips and guac were great as well.
So good, the food was great, really quiet
Really different, unique, ans delicious!
Great place for fish or shrimp tacos on a Friday in Lent or otherwise. Service was quick and the tacos were well filled. I like how you can mix and match all the salsas and fillings and then add your own little toppings after as well (cheese, radishes, cilantro, lime...)
Great food
My family has eaten at this Taco Shop about 5 times since moving to Colorado Springs ... HANDS DOWN the best Tacos we've ever had. Lots of vegan and healthy choices. Only wish is that it was a bit closer to our house... But the drive is well worth it!!
A totally hidden gem! The food is fresh and delicious and the prices are reasonable. I like that there's an outdoor seating option too. And they have horchata!!
Good tacos very hip and nice atmosphere. Food was good and not great. I have found places I like more but this place is by no means bad.
Great local eatery. Best tofu ever!
Had the pork burrito and it was so filling. Way better than either of the big chain burrito places. You can tell these folks have fun and love what they do- feeding people great food.
Decent tacos, not a fan of corn tortillas but that's the way she goes
This is such a great little hidden place to eat. It has great fresh tasting food that is very resonantly priced. They have a great outdoor eating area and a small indoor eating area that fills up pretty fast during lunch. You can also get beer and margaritas. They place is kinda hard to find and can not easily be seen when driving by.
If you haven't been. Do it! Nuff said
it was a very delicious burrito I would recommend anybody to come try this place
This is a neat hidden taco shop. I had the Tilapia fish tacos and they were really good. The ingredients tasted fresh and the service was fast. The self serve (from powdered mix) horchata was a nice touch too.
Great food. Will be back.
We went here because people have raved about it. The food was pretty good but nothing phenomenal. I got the steak burrito. The first several bites I ate were just mouthfuls of rice. Once I got to the rest of the ingredients it was very tasty. The food is worth the extra cash. The water infused with CBD, I'm not sure. I didn't order it, but you can't miss the water machine when you visit. So, why not a couple more stars? The point of sale experience wasn't great. I don't know if they were super busy or just having a bad day, but I felt like I'd somehow offended our cashier by ordering food. They didn't offer a receipt so I had to annoy then some more for one. It just made the whole experience oddly uncomfortable. Maybe there's something in the water...
Facility great. Burritos good but expensive
The freshest food! One of my favorite places for tacos in the Springs
My favorite place
Tacos were good just hard to find.
Simple fresh food. A wonderful alternative to burgers or the usual sandwiches.
LOVE IT! YUMMY!
An excellent Mexican food spot. Everything was fresh and not greasy. The food tasted fantastic, and the service was very friendly. I recommend this place to any and everyone.
Nice atmosphere and good choices for a quick meal. Vegetarian and meat choices. The food was a little on the spicy side.
The staff was absolutely delightful! We had never been there before. After staring at the menu looking lost, they offered us samples of their products so we could get a taste for their dishes! Everything was delectable, from their meats to their salsas! We ended up having the chicken and pork tacos from the menu. Definitely a new and exciting place for my family to go and we will be returning! :)
Awesome tacos. Okay service.
Fast and healthy options the salad bowls are incredible with fresh salsa and tofu or chicken!
There really good and so friendly...will definitely be back.
I like this place even though I generally don't like the properties run by the guy who owns this place. The food is good, and the staff is friendly. They have a cool location and the decor is updated.
The best! We always look forward to coming here. Fresh ingredients. We love to get anything with huli huli chicken, I always get a margarita and my wife can't resist the Kahlua chocolate cake.
Good mahi mango tacos.
Awesome food, tons of selections. I really appreciate the diversity of flavors! If you like any place like chipotle, qdoba but want a new spin or different perspective on the same type of cuisine you definitely have to try La'aus! My one and only negative is that its a small location right by Colorado College so at peak times seating can be difficult.
The food here is really different but it’s really good
Expensive tacos here. Friendly staff.
Super nice staff, excellent food, a little pricey though
Bit pricey, but the service was good and the food was fresh.
Very tasty food tucked away. Good atmosphere inside or outside (when it's not freezing). Kahlua cake is amazing!!!
The Aji de Peru salsa is very flavorful
Amazing, I've had almost everything on the menu. The Baja steak burrito is my fave!!! The food is made to order so it is fresh. The rice is sticky and fluffy so it goes perfect with everything. La'aus is def on my top 5 list for fave spots to eat. Can't get enough of Laaus.
Awesome tacos!
Goid Tacos all AMERICAN FOOD
This place was an experience. We love Hawaiian food and Mexican food, bit we'd never thought to mix the two together. Let me say, this was an awesome surprise. The mix of sweet and salt all mixed together in a flour tortilla was great. I can't remember what salsa we had, but we tried everyone of them and each one was excellent. What a great surprise in downtown Colorado Springs.
Good twist combining Hawaiian and Mexican recipes.
Great tacos when you are in a hurry
Food is really good, although portion sizing seems a little small for the price.
Good tacos and flavors, a solid choice. Love the cotija cheese!
I thought the restaurant was nice and clean but the food did not impress. I went bc I saw online they had vegan options so I ordered a burrito w the tofu in it. The tofu was nasty. It was fried then coated in a Asian style sauce which is a weird combination in a rice and bean burrito. Also it was super heavy and tasted like leftover fried food. Something like tofu needs to be fried fresh especially if it's gonna be coated in sauce. I ended up picking all the tofu off. The frying was just too much they should offer another style of tofu. Also the rice and beans was very bland. I'm all for supporting small businesses but this one I will not be back too. Chipotle tofu taste much better and cost less. Meat eaters may have a different experience but I would not recommend it to a fellow vegan. The outdoor seating was nice though.
$3.75 for a teaspoon of guac?! GTFO
Best Fish Tacos in town. Great service
The food at La'Au's is simply the best I can recommend if you're looking for good Mexican food. Although it may seem counterproductive that La'Au's is a Hawaiian taco shop, don't let that discourage you. The quality of the food is extremely high, but I have a couple gripes. Inside the burritos that they have, the salsa seems to lose flavor and just make the whole thing wet, which is not a good experience. Also inside the burritos, both the lettuce and the cabbage seem to mix flavors with everything else, and they end up not tasting good at all. While the burritos have problems, everything else is amazing. The chips are homemade, the tacos have just the right level of moistness, and outside the burritos, the salsa is amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant even if you don't like Mexican food.
Seating is awful!! Food was not worth the price. Will not be going back.
Best Hawaiin style food anywhere
Decent burrito, nice staff, Fast service
The food is consistently delicious. I love the salsas and toppings as much as the tacos, bowls, etc. It's a casual place, improved by the remodel and expanded outdoor seating with a shade cover. Great destination to walk or drive to.
