This Fish Shop is classified in the category of Seafood restaurant.
Average seafood chain restaurant but with neat atmosphere. A lot of interesting decor and a beautiful ocean view, staff was good, food was good. This place is...well...good.
Our first time here and couldn’t wait to dine bere for the Fourth of July. But Service was Horrible, our food was messed up and when I brought it to there attention they acted like it was a issue taking it back. Also had to ask for water multiple times to get it and was missing items. When we finally got all our stuff we were ready to leave after being there for 2 hours! Mind you we have two small children and there where over by 2 hours. I paid and brought it to the attention of the manager and he didn’t seem to care. We will NOT BE BACK
Monterey's Bubba is the best Bubba Gump's in Nor Cal!
The Original Bubba Gump! Yum! Always good food.
You can't go wrong here. Great food. Great service.
Food quality really went down hill. Very disappointing. I use to love this place. I how it gets better one day.
Amazing food, pretty busy so it took a while to get seated and get our food, but good food as always!
Can't wait to go again the food was delicious and the staff was great
The food was pretty good. Super busy on the weekend. The wait was an hour and getting our food was another 45 minutes. Our food was warm and fries were cold. Welp.
The drinks are good. Ordered a couple cups of clam chowder and the across American sample platter. The chowder was lacking any real flavor. Our sample platter was 50/50. The hush puppies were awesome! The bacon wrapped shrimp is to be recommended along with the articoke dip, but the chicken was horrible. It was cold and dry. We went straight to the bar to order and eat to avoid the 2 hour wait time. Definitely a touristy restaurant, worth the trip once, but not a repeat place. The staff was really nice though! Definite plus!
Pricey but worth it, great food and amazing drinks awesome staff!
This place is very nice with ocean view. Unfortunately on my visit they not only forgot to bring my wife's order along with mine, we both ordered the same thing, but they also don't know how to make rice. According to my server their rice is always served in clumps and that's their special way of making rice. So I figure if you can't make rice then you probably can't make good food as well. My wife and I did not eat but my kids did. They said the rice was terrible.
It was ok. Not bad, not amazing. Very loud.
Food was good but not great.
Food is always good, Its pretty much always crowded cause its on cannery row but that's expected. Servers are always polite and helpful. I've never had a bad experience here.
My first time at one of these restaurants. Service was great. Food and prices were pretty sad. Almost everything is fried. Not to knock fried food but let’s have some variety here. And if fried food is your thing why do your French fries suck? Definitely was not impressed.
Brandon at the bar made our visit worthwhile. While not a fan of chains we enjoyed the food, piped in music, ultra light which is hard to find in Monterey. Brandon knows some Bubba Gump trivia so he was a lot of fun. Felt like we were in New Orleans! The beef sliders and grilled fish tacos were rather filling for bar bites.
It was our first time coming here and the food was great. The shrimp mac-n-cheese was absolutely delicious, I'd go back just for that. Our waitresses (Merna) was amazing, very friendly, professional, excellent service and made our time there enjoyable.
I have to say, for a chain and for being so touristy, this place is not bad! I have been to a few locations, here, San Francisco and even in Florida and is very consistent and pretty good. The drinks are also surprisingly good!
With all the great places to eat on fishermans warf I honestly don't know how this place stays open. Frozen food drowned in grease, understaffed and slow. Similar prices as the warf. Do yourself a favor and go get some fresh seafood on the warf and skip this place.
Being a Landry's Select Member you would think they would give best service. Our wait time was quoted 30-40 mins and we were seated after an hour. No manager coming over to our table. Our waitress couldn't recommend alcoholic beverages. Wait for food after ordering was long. We had a party of 8. It was still too long. No FORREST GUMP TRIVIA!
Service was quick and friendly. Food is always delicious. And we love the trivia questions.
Delicious, shrimp is my favorite kind of meat, great service, fun atmosphere. Average wait time estimate was incorrect so we were seated early too.
We had a great meal, quick seating great service.
Found a hair in my salad the waiter was understandable but when I got my bill they still charged me for the meal, while the waiter was talking to the manager she did not see me watching them and her facial expression was like if she was upset at ME! What the heck, a first and a last for me.
Waited an hour for our food, came out cold, left no tip and was charged an additional $12 on my debit card. Real classy Bubba Gump. Will NEVER eat there again. Mediocre food for a hefty price.
Had their steak and it was so tasty. Our server was so sweet and upbeat too. And the view of the ocean was spectacular. We had a great experience.
Great seafood snack and drink after walking around. Kids loved playing crayons color too
Great food, too busy and loud for my taste.
This place was excellent, excellent food, service and atmosphere, I give it 5 stars
Brought the family here after a day at the aquarium. Call ahead an hour before to reserve seating as this place is a busy tourist spot. Very family-friendly restaurant and great for large groups. Four stars for the service and the way our friendly, knowledgeable server assisted us with the menu (our kids have food intolerances and the kitchen staff and server were great at answering our questions/concerns.) The coconut shrimp was our favorite, the fish n chips a well-portioned size and the kids’ meals were good. However, the clam chowder was very bland and thin. The menu inaccurately priced the bucket of shrimp and we ended up paying $28 with what we thought was half that price (roughly 20 very small cajun and garlic shrimp.) But it was delicious nonetheless. The final tab for 4 adults and 4 kids: $159USD.
The food is really greasy so be prepared for that. Fish and chips and fried chicken had too much batter around it. The ambiance was casual but enjoyable.
Overpriced, poor service and lousy food quality. Lousy touristy place. Never again.
Good family atmosphere good comfort food
We were told wait time would be 45 minutes and we were seated right around that time. It was about 2 PM and was pretty busy. Our server was friendly and the food was great. Would have given 5 stars except my husbands food I think was forgotten and didn't arrive until the rest of us were almost done eating. The server knew his mistake and told us he would remove it from our ticket. The problem was quickly resolved and eventually my husbands food arrived hot and fresh! Near perfect experience!
The waitress that took my order, lets say that is all she did. She depended on everyone else to do her job. All of the waiters/waitress's looked like they just got out of bed. For the price of the meals you would expect more pride in thier employees. Not impressed with the food either. It would be better if made as described in the menu.
Menu is changed from last year I went so there are no spaghetti neither many dishes I like. I was disappointed with that and the food taste. Beside i waited for one hour until the food came although I know it was long holiday and had a lot customer. I will not go there again
Went to Bubba's for the Forrest Gump experience. The place was packed. Food was ok. But our overriding experience was that the place was too hot. We all felt uncomfortable and left as soon as we had finished our food.its TGI fridays rebranded, servers singing happy every few minutes!
If it wasnt for the great service this place would get 1 star. I felt like I just wasted my $75 dollars. My husband and I went with our boys my son spit out his cheese pizza..spit it out what kid doesn't love pizza my son loves pizza. My plate had the fried shrimp and fish and hush puppies. Look I get fried food has grease but when I can taste the grease in my food that's horrible I've been a cooked I've worked fryer so trust me I was disappointed. My fish had no flavor when I bit into it just grease. We all ended just packing the food up and going. I really feel like I wasted a lot of money for the naked that's it. Service was great though staff is friendly but when I told the waitress before we left if they shake the grease off or do they pull it out and just put in the plate. She said they just pulled it out and put it on the plate. That explained a lot too. Please shake of any extra grease!!!! I'll never go back big waste of money
Gotta have dinner there for sure. People who work there are super polite, food is right on point!
Chain store in line with Hard Rock Cafe and rainforest cafe brands. Higher than amber age prices by the food was great and the service was excellent:
I'm sure you can tell by the name that the shrimp here is great. Great service as well.
If I could give zero star. Sat for 1 hour 10 mins. Had to beg to get beverages. Wanted to relax and hang with the family. Then our waiter was sent home. Ok he sucked poor training. That is on the manager Conner Wilber who I had the misfortune of meeting. The food and second round came out after we asked for the check. Go figure Mr. Wilber did not apologize nor did any of the people we dealt with. On top of that I had some waiter who wanted to start a fight. As I was leaving, the waiter, not our waiter, says "please do not come back sir" . REALLY?!! THEN tells my wife to have a good night but "keep him on a leash". Are you kidding me??!! I have never been treated so badly in a restaurant and will be writing an email to the corporate office. AND we were charged $55 for 2 rounds of beers and a soda (my wife, 84 year old father, 14 year old daughter and myself) So not the place to ever go unless you want to go hungry and be upset. The local is awesome but Monterey Ca. has to remove them from Cannery row. Easy way remove the licensing from them customers being mistreated and easy enough to have a great family restuarant move in and boot the bad bubba so what the area does not need.
Very popular, but with an average menu and always packed.
Of the two entrees we ordered one came out cold. So we sent the crab legs back for hot ones. I had been finished with my meal for fifteen minutes before the new crab legs came out. And the manager Rui didn't fix the situation, he actually made it worse by dismissing us and avoiding the situation and interrupting our complaint with a " I'll let you enjoy your meal and abruptly walked away..not dealing with it at all. Enjoy my meal..really. That will definitely be the last time we dine there. We will definitely be calling corporate about this..there was no attempt in fixing anything.
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Is my hands down favorite place to go. We have always went to the one in San Francisco when we visit the Warf/Pier 39 but this time my husband surprised me and took me to Monterey. It is a child friendly, very clean, and nice relaxing outside seating to enjoy the view of the ocean while eating. The whole experience of our day outing was so therapeutic, relaxing, and fun with my Grandson and Husband. We had a great time and we were able to show our Grandson new things and a fun time. We plan on going back soon to do some different more fun stuff.
Good food, strong drinks, and this one, the original, has an excellent location with amazing views!
Good food but real pricey
Had a bad experience here with my family. Specifically, - The salmon was extremely bland and quite dry - Our waiter took about 20 minutes just to tell us that they had no more beer - The seasoning on the fries was very uneven; some fries were thickly coated in seasoning, while others had nothing - Our waiter proceeded to ask us about our orders not 2 minutes after we got our menus; this suggests a lack of communication among the staff - The meal that I ordered was so bland that I had to use my daughter's sauce that came on her plate - Our table did not have any silverware, leaving us to wait a few minutes while our food was sitting on the table for a waiter to give us our utensils Overall, a very poor experience here at Bubba Gump. Don't waste your time and money (it was also quite expensive, yet understandable for the location), there are other far better seafood restaurants in the area.
Food is not all that great anymore. I feel that the food is just ok,not worth the expensive bill. The Adult drinks are really sweet so if you don't like that I would just order a beer!
Very very busy. A beautiful place to eat and drink. The ambiance is great and the people all have smiles on there face. The food that is being put out is so fresh. The ladys working the bar really do an outstanding job. If your looking for a place to enjoy the sunset and watch it glistening over the Monterey bay, then this is the spot.
The food was amazing the staff were pleasant and helpful the atmosphere was excellent
They use your memory from the film but don’t be naive : Overpriced and some items don’t show the price in the menu, so ask before. Vegetarian burguer was good.
Great service and amazing food. So nostalgic!
Awesome staff, great food make reservations on line before going.
Much fun with my DUETCH MAN PHIL, TX YOU
Always love this place! If long waiting list for table go for a place at the bar. Same menu and even happy hour 3-6 pm on week days
A good place during off tourist hours for a quick bite. Long lines & wait times make in nearly impossible for locals to dine there on the spur of the moment so plan accordingly.
Great service and gave us a window. Celebrated our anniversary.
Great food, prices decent, great service
Food was awesome....couldn't finish my plate
Fabulous food. The Shrimp cooked to perfection had lunch there after sightseeing.
Great atmosphere and great views great food and great service staff
Good food and a nice view. But did get sick after :/
I have to say I could not be more dissapointed in corporate running this facility. No respect for employees working under the conditions they work in. Let me start by saying that the kitchen temperature is well over 90+ degrees and way over that over a stove. The eating areas we now us the consumer is attempting to enjoy a meal is well over 81+ degrees. How do I know, I was seating in from of a pillar with the thermostat. Absolutely unacceptable. I can add to this that the employee we got amazing serving our table but the rest there's defenetly area for coaching, growth and improvement. To protect the identity of the waiter helping us improve will not mention name but was absolutely fed up with the cost cutting tactics of the people running this and corporate going in and saying that customers don't need an AC on... that the cooks over the stove are just expecting to do their job that way. To add to that, from a source there I can tell you that sweat running down their faces is just not part of the hygiene you'd expect with a food inspector as a concern that is a big issue here. Will I go back here again. Absolutely not. Until they change this. Employees and customers deserve respect. Have an image of the temperature inside where all customers were eating at at 81 degrees. Yes not acceptable.
Little pricey. Didn't realise you have to flip the sign at your table to, 'Stop' if you wanted to be helped. Everyone was really nice and the service was fast. The choice of music varies greatly which isn't a problem, just off-putting at times, but it's easy to ignore. The food and drinks were delicious, and I definitely see myself coming again in the future.
Favorite place to eat clam chowder and really good margaritas
Food was excellent with fun and friendly staff. Excellent drinks also. Fun atmosphere
Great location with bay views. Friendly servers and great food.
I ordered a soup and salad.. I just don’t know how u can mess this order up. First my salad didn’t come out until after my family was already eating their food. I had no utensils plus no salad dressing. I asked for utensils and salad dressing and I was told they will bring it out.. I waited and waited nothing.. finally I got utensil and then the wrong salad dressing.. my family was almost done eating so I canceled my meal never got the soup. Everything else was nice but the waitress just enter the request in the computer then someone else brings it out from the back.
The setting and views are great, the food is good, and the prices aren't bad at all. However, and I don't know whether this is common or not, the kitchen/servers managed to lose multiple table's dishes. Our table didn't get the appetizer we ordered, and the table next to us didn't one they ordered either. The server was nice enough to take the item off the bill, but it was still rather disappointing. Aside from that I'd recommend it. 3/5
Subpar food. Service was good. Drinks were great if you just turned 21.. and love sugar! Cute concept...next time I'll watch Forest Gump and order Long John silver's
I love coming to this place food is good and staff always friendly.
We had a wonderful experience thanks to our waitress. She explained every dish I was interested in and my cold yummy margarita. We ordered apple, cheese cake/ strawberry for dessert (her favorite she recommended it) and now my favorite too. The views are beautiful!
They sing to you on your bday!also they bring u a cupcake! Its so cute
It was my first time in a Bubba Gump's. The service was absolutely amazing, and the food was pretty good. I got a kick out of the Forrest Gump theme all over the place. The Old-Fashioned cocktails could've been better, however the bartender wasn't skilled in Old-Fashioned making to start.
Always a great place to eat! Make sure to ask for a table by the water.
Pretty chill place with nice service. It's a bit gimmicky though, but that's always fun. It's a lot of food that you get, might not finish it all.
Was a 5 star place a few years ago. The food is the same now but it seems like the service has gone slightly downhill
Pretty good food. First time here and first impression was good. Shrimp mac and cheese was simple yet good tasting. I think I will return.
Service was insanely slow, but the food was decent.
Very tasty as always. We had the beer steamed peel & eat shrimp with garlic seasoning as well as the spinache, artichoke, pepperjack dip w/fresh corn chips. Perfect lunch for people on the go.
Loved loved loved the mahi tacos they were amazing and the view of the bay was wonderful!
It was good just because they take their time on that food but it was ok I guess...
We ordered an item that isn't on the menu any more---the Bucket of Boat Trash. I remember it as having steamed or boiled items. When it arrived, everything except the crab legs was breaded and fried. I don't care for Alaskan crab. I prefer Dunginess crab (like I get in the wharf in SF). And I prefer it cold. These legs were warm and there wasn't much meat. Strike one. My SO got all of mine. We moved in to the breaded shrimp and cod. Neither were very appetizing. Soggy French fries completed the meal. I'd been waiting for some time to come back here. Now I wish we have driven over an hour just to get here.
We waited 40 minutes for our food, people seated after they order got there food within 15 minutes and another table after that, we were still waiting. Your waitress excuses the kitchen was back up.and you had a banquet. I dont care, for excuses, my food was not hot, it was little on the cold side and we had to wait so Long for it. I give you 2 stars, for lack of services I give the waitress 1 star, for lying, she didnt put our order in. I give you 2 stars for cold food I give you 5 stars, the food was delicious, cold but good.
If you never been to Bubba Gumps, you should at least go once. Food is good, service was great and funny. Nice chill place to go.
Even though it was extremely busy they had us seated very quickly and right next to the window with an ocean view,it was truly a fun time with my wife and I. I will recommend this place to anyone for any kind of occasion the menu is so fun to choose from and the way they present it as well they bring it to you like a motion picture. Keep up the good work and I will definitely make sure to let all my friends and family know about this particular location
Always great food..despite being very busy, service was great!
Good food, friendly staff and great views across the bay
About as touristy a spot as you can find, but I dunno, I enjoy the food.
This place has truly yummy seafood, maybe not the healthiest lol but just amazing soul-satisfying comfort dishes. We were lucky enough to have a beautiful view of Monterey bay as well. Plus Cannery Row is steps away with their 24/7 happy hour gimmick....paaaartay!
Haven't been to a Bubba Gump in a while and was sad to see some of my favorite items were changed or omitted in the menu. Was looking forward the the mushroom burger and it's definitely not as good as it once was
Great view first off, food’s not that bad and service was pretty fast and nice staff. Also our little jack Russell seemed to have a great time viewing the ocean :) will definitely come back here
Great shrimp dishes! Centrally located with a splendid view and nice customer service. A popular place telling by the number of customers.
Absolutely below average - the fried fish is too oily and the grilled one too tough.
Little disappointed with this place! But if you like the movie, you may find this place intriguing!
Delicious food. Went here to celebrate with my wife for her birthday. They singed her happy birthday and gave her a lil cupcake. Plus the take home glasses are really cool.
Second Gumps I've been to and it didn't disappoint. I had jambalaya parents had coconut shrimp and fish & chips. Great service, speedy food on a busy Saturday night, and amazing atmosphere being right on the boardwalk
Best place I've ever been. Well known decor I've ever seen Delicious drinks, seafood Were pretty nice and pretty good. Every corner of this place Made wide smiles on my face I figured about it from the wikipedia I watched the film again on media I took a pictures there as well. That's what I want to tell. If you dont visit it in Monterrey You will regret a million and one day.
Great staff great food
I didn’t have especially high expectations, and was surprised when this place still fell far short. The positive was that the wait staff was nice. But, it took forever to get our food (we were there at 6pm on a Friday, lots of staff, not especially busy yet). My wife’s salad had a big in it. My daughter got a very dirty spoon. My food tasted a bit stale. It was also pretty expensive, given even on a good day it’s not supposed to be fine dining.
Lots of expectations and lots of problems. Steak wasn't medium. They replaced it but I ate when all others have already finished. Not fun. We were told that the drink for the kid is not sparkling but it was. Service without a smile (and that is free so why not).
The food was good, but it wasn't great. It was fun seeing all of the Forrest Gump movie things. Think of it as a Disney like event. Prices are reasonable, but the restaurant is very loud. Would I go back? No. Plenty of other places in the Monterey area that are better, both food and ambiance.
This is one of the best restaurants to visit while in Monterey. Great food. Lots of memorabilia from the movie. I love getting drinks that come with a free souvenir cup. Their coconut shrimp is very good. I don't normally like coconut but this dish is the exception.
Good food quality! Always nice spots!
The place has a great view. But it took too long for the food to come. The wait staff were very nice. It is a good casual place to take kids.
Awesome place. Great food. Tasty drinks. Beautiful view. Friendly staff. Fun deco and trivia. I love eating here
First time at a bubba Gump shrimp, I had a pleasant experience great food, crab legs were good, nice waitress and overall wait staff
Loved it! Great experience with Matt,Zack and Daniela. Service was superb and the food was delicious
Usually great Service, But with recent visit did not receive our usual family fun experience. We were ready for movie question trivia. It was never asked
Not a bad place. Decent prices and very theatrical with movie quotes and pictures all over. If you love Forest Gump then this place is for you. They celebrate birthdays too. Service was probably the best I've had along the coast. Lots of fried things on the menu. Try the pan seared flounder!
Had to give it a 3 because the server had no care for her guest. The manager did his best to accommodate, but service was too much of a disaster. Drinks were wrong. Meals were wrong. Missing items & it was a reservation for a birthday party & she didn't offer anything as we watched 4 different tables get cupcakes & sang to. No apology from the server. The manager was amazing but she had passed us to another server before he got the opportunity to salvage the experience.
My wife loves the food; I think mediocre. We both agree that the location and service is great. Outstanding view while you eat.
Great environment. Food was delicious.
Great chain restaurant! On the water, awesome views... The food was good, but a little spicy... Was not ready for the spicy...however overall the service was great and the shrimp was awesome
It was ok for the most part but took a long time to get are food and food was not what I ordered the fish was in pieces when I got it and the rice was really sticky and clumping up and when we were seated we noticed that people who arrived after us were getting there food before us we ordered bread but didn't get it and we waited a long time just to be told they didn't have any, I hope they work on there food better and work on quality.
If I could give zero stars that would be a more accurate review, but I guess one star will do. Today was my first time coming the restaurant and I will NEVER be coming back. It's like going to a Long John silvers and getting an ocean view. The decor is really cool, but ehh.
Not alot of selection but the food was good and my husband really enjoyed the. Spinach and artichoke dip appetizer.
Fun! We love the drinks that come with glasses.
Good food but terrible service. We had a stroller and didn’t want to risk it getting stolen. There were open booths without reservations so we asked for one. Instead they gave us a table in the middle of the whole crowd and had to store the stroller under the table. Uncomfortable. Not impressed.
Food was fine. Service was fine. Nothing to brag about. We were hoping for a wider variety of menu items (steamed seafood bucket maybe?), but did get two tables in the bar area quickly for lunch time. Liked seeing Forrest Gump playing on the TV, and staff was friendly.
This place was fun and the food was great. Price wasn't too bad either.
A little touristy, but great for large groups. We had a party of 12 and were able to get in with only an hours notice for reservation. The staff was really great and able to get everyone’s orders and deliver exactly what we wanted. Really a great option.
This Last Time Around Service Was Awful.. The Wait Time Was Normal But Our Waiter Was Just Terrible .. I Think It Was A Bad Day For Everyone Seen A Lot Of People Complaining To Managers..
Pretty slow service for our group of 11. The staff was very kind, it just took 20 or more minutes after being seated before taking our order. Great food and fun atmosphere!
Fun trivia! We got them all right! Good service good food good times great view
Great food and great atmosphere. It takes some time to get seated but simply get on the list early and walk around the bay while waiting.
Bubba Gumps definitely lived up to expectations. Food was great and my drinks we're good. The shrimp shack mac and cheese was amazing. Chowder and salad was good too. We really enjoyed the view of the water and the atmosphere overall. This place is definitely worth a try!
Always excellent food and service. Fun atmosphere.
Good food, nice place and great service! Special thanks to Scott. P. The best waiter we encountered in the US!
Food was great and the drinks were so good too ! I love the souvenir cups ideas although I did not get one. Thank you to Scott for your service ! The atmosphere is so cool with a few great photo places. I suggest getting a window seat because the view is nice and when you take a picture it looks like u are sitting on the ledge - not behind a window. The entree mash potato is to die for, please get it !!
Bubba Gump shrimp restaurant this is the best seafood place I have ever been to the staff there were great and they were extremely helpful the food was delicious and I am very satisfied with my vacation trip to Monterey Bay aquarium.
Went here for the first time and I wasn't impressed. I ordered crab and I guess maybe I had an anorexic crab
Overpriced, food (Shrimp) cold, beer was expensive and charged me for the touristy beer glass. Avoid this chain restaurant and go to a more authentic restaurant.
Food was good and love the location, Only reason I'm not giving five stars is because the inside of the restaurant was very hot.
Great environment, food and view. The waiter was awesome. He did some movie trivia with us. It would've been 5 stars but my food took over an hour to come out. I didnt mind too much because the margarita kicked in.
Great place, awesome people, fun atmosphere, and best of all... delicious food. Matt was awesome, his attitude and enthusiasm as he greeted my party and guided us to our table was outstanding. Fabrice was our waiter and he was awesome as well, he was willing to strike up a conversation and was really friendly.
Loved the food. Compatible prices to applebees for the nonseafood menu. Anything seafood was in the 15-20 range but you got a good amount. It was super busy but we never had an empty cup or dirty table. Fun place and we got a great view.
After being allowed into the restaurant by the outside gatekeeper we were met inside by a very confused hostess asking if we were wanting to bring out stroller to the table, or if we wanted to leave it outside. After explaining that there was no way we would be waking up a peacefully sleeping 3 month old she asked us to please wait while she went to make sure that "was ok". After a brief wait we were taken to a table. Our waitress arrived shortly after, physically removing the menus from my wife's hand to show her "favorites" that I am sure match the rest of the servers favorites this week. She took our drink order (2 long island ice teas and a Mt. Dew) and explained the mechanics of the "stop forest stop" sign and stressed that when we were ready to order, flip the sign and anyone could take our order. A few minutes later decisions were made and the sign was flipped. I lost track of how many wait staff, bussers, and hosteses walked by before a neighboring waitress going over Gump trivia finally instructed to see what we needed. When we told him we'd like to order he wandered off to find our waitress. We placed our order and eagerly awaited our meal. 10 minutes later our waitress returned with our calamari appetizer and said she would track the status of our drinks. 5 minutes later a busboy returned with our (seemingly alcohol-less) mixed drinks. After a reasonable 5 minute wait for someone to return with our sons fountain drink, we flagged down our waitress to enquire upon the status of the mountain dew to which she gave the empty table a puzzled look and stated she would get it. She quickly returned with the drink when my son asked if he could have a straw, to which she said she would have to return with. She quickly returned stating they were out of straws but she would try to find one. After passing by further times with food, checks, and drinks (with straws) my son asked again and was promptly given a straw. We are now at the 45 minute point into visit when the waitress returned stating our food should be out soon and started the Gump mandated trivia. At the 1 hour mark, we were finally given our food and the waitress explained that our check was "lost" and the food had to be made on the fly. We quickly ate our food and asked for our check. I was happy to see that there was no discount, comp, or even apology on our check for our hour wait and watching multiple tables arrive, eat, and leave before being served. The ineptitude of the serving staff was shocking, even for a themed novilty eatery. We were lied to at least once (out of straws? Seriously) left to wait, and not even offered any form of apology for the treatment. It's clear this chain depends entirely on first visit gimicks and could care less for return business.
Finally was able to visit this place. It is really themed after Forest Gump and has the movie playing in one the TVs in the background. The shrimp was smaller than the ones at Joe's or the Asian spots in SD, but had an awesome flavor.
Great servers and food. Lots of fun answering the trivia questions from the movie
Our meal and drink were great, but server was below our expectations. I would recommend this location to others.
Best place for fish and shrimps. Cocktails are pretty good too. But be prepared for wait time of 45 minutes +. So i highly advice advance booking. Some of the bubba gumps do not take reservations for the same day. My favorite is accidental fishand shrimp with lobster sauce. Keep up Bubba gump.
Good food wait was not bad for super busy wharf area.
I had lunch here after a visit to the aquarium. I like all the decor, food was good, server was very friendly. I also like the "run" and "stop" signs at the tables to get the servers attention of you need anything. I had a beautiful view of the water from my table. I would go back again.
Excellent food for a relatively fair price.
Portions are really good and I liked this place. Best not to go with toddlers as the food is spicy for them to play with :)
All the staff were nice, the coconut shrimp were on the sweeter side but the dips they offer were delicious. Mix drinks were great and didnt feel like they cheaped out on anything. The food was overall worth the price.
The people who worked there very pleasant
All kinds of shrimp and also a selection of other meals. Recommend reservation or the wait could be long. Good view from the restaurant.
Staff are super attentive and friendly. Food selection and quality are great. Music ambience was enjoyable and had great view of ocean while sitting on outdoor deck/patio.
the wait to get in was about 15 and was somewhat expected. We ordered out food, drinks and appetizers. Drinks and appetizers came out quickly. It took about 40-45 minutes to get our food. When I got my food my steak was over done and dry. I asked for a new one which they gave me, but my grilled shrimp was cold☹ very disappointed as this is our first time at this restaurant and we were looking forward to this
Always have loved Bubba Gumps. The area that it’s in is a great location. Very close to public parking lots and street parkings. The food is always amazing every time I visit! I love love the shrimp heaven: it has four types of shrimps (tempura, coconut, grilled and fried shrimp) on top of French fries. Which is Cajun French fries...so tasty!!! Our server Zach was very dedicated to serving us. He made sure we knew the specials in the menu and recommend some good and fun drinks (alcoholic beverages of course). I was disappointed when he left to take a break but Argenis took care of us. Awesome experience at this location!
Food was ok tasting, server changed personality when we finally ordered entrees
The food was wonderful. I had a Caesar salad, shrimp linguine, and the clam chowder. I got so full off the soup and salad I had to take my shrimp linguine home. Everything was delicious. Was there visiting from Sacramento and absolutely loved the environment and atmosphere. Looking over at the ocean as you eat was a wonderful treat. We waited about 25 minutes for a table. Which wasn't bad because we had no reservation and it was in the middle of spring break. Lovely place
What I would expect from Bubba Humps. Not awesome food, though not bad. Service was great and the view of the bay is second to none. Prices are a little high for what you get, granted it is right on the water in Monterey.
It is awfully crowded, but otherwise a fun place to eat
