Excellent food, waitress was amazing, prices alittle high but to be expected in a resort, reason for four stars was the hostess seating everyone was extremely rude, arrogant and seemed bothered by the fact people wanted to eat there. Restaurant was 75% empty and still had a 10 minute wait. We noticed the newer staff was happy, friendly and customer oriented while the older, longer term employees seemed snobby and irrated by the customers. It was myself, husband and 7yo niece. Time was 12 noon ish. So no excuse. Shame too it's a beautiful location and atmosphere

Gastons is definitely a first class fishing resort. The cabins are simply furnished but clean, roomy and we'll kept with river views. The restaurant is excellent and the bar is small but comfortable. There's a pool and game room for kids so the whole family has something to do. And of course fishing on the White River is most always good. I didn't fish this time, we just stopped in on a roadtrip because I new the facilities would be good.

Over the mountains and through the woods to get to this gem of a place! We went during a Friday afternoon after a holiday at lunch time and it wasn't packed or overly busy. After numerous trips back and forth, fighting with the servers and 2 calls the hostess finally decided that she would let someone else seat us. I really do hope this was a rare occasion. Still prevents me from putting 5 stars because our server did end up in the mess and it kind of left her a little frazzled as well. We ordered an appetizer, 3 kid's entrees, fried catfish dinner, a bowl of soup and ate from the"boat" salad bar. Pricing was bit more then we expected for lunch so look at it as your entrance fee to visit the animals. 3 out of 3 kids almost cleaned their plates which is a win in any parent's book. The other items were good and so 5 out of 5 left with full bellies. We were very thankful for the bird sanctuary to walk around to say the least. I really do think we were lucky with not a lot of people being present at the time. The peacocks and turkeys that were out walking came really close to us which the kids loved. We walked the small path they had which was well maintained along with the birds and their home.

I've only had the Sunday brunch but I can say it was absolutely fabulous. The price was very reasonable for the large selection of food that was offered. A very beautiful and well-stocked salad bar along with a variety of different fish. The dessert buffet was also well stocked and everything we tried was wonderful.

Why would a buffet offer poor drink service? What else do they have to do? We passed on the food because the buffet didn't look very appetizing for the price, but the drinks were good, just took a while to get each drink. Waitress looked tired. View was very nice. Sunday brunch may not be the best time to visit.

We went for Brunch, and this place is Awesome, from the Great Staff to the food and the view, you just can't go wrong here. They also have places to stay and you do a little fishing, site seeing or just sit back and enjoy being here. So plan a trip here or stop in, I'm glad we did and will be back many times.

First off, we were completely ignored when we walked in, took the hostess 5 minutes to even ask how many in our party. When we were seated, it took the waitress a while to get to us. When we finally got our order, they had substituted our vegetable without asking us if it was alright and it was not something either of us likes. The fish was good, but the hush puppies were doughy and tasteless. The waitress took so long in getting refills for our drinks and did not seem to be able to get it all together. All in all, was a very disappointing experience, especially for the price and supposedly great reputation it has. Will not be going back.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! The food was amazing from the salad bar to buttery green beans and fried rainbow trout! You can even peek downstairs where they bring in the fish. Inside is full of interesting pieces, including a ceiling full of bikes (with all their kickstands down), motors, and deer antler chandeliers! We also visited their peacocks, including their albino one who will follow you to the street!!

Probably one of the most beautiful restaurants we’ve ever been to. We were so excited to eat there for the first time and absolutely loved the view! But, we ordered two sandwiches and it took 40 minutes before we finally decided we had to leave. Our waitress said absolutely nothing to us and when she came up to take our order, she stood silent at our table and said nothing. We got water and never saw our waitress again for 40 minutes. When we got up to leave, I did let the manager know we couldn’t wait any longer and that we were going to leave. I was very polite and she was also. She ran to the back and got our food and put it in to go boxes and took care of our bill. Gorgeous restaurant and view, but the worst experience.

I think $27.00 is a lot for for a buffet that mostly serves breakfast and that you didn't even have the offer of order anything off the menu so if you want something small I still think $27 is a lot

I've have eaten here for years but last friday I just ate the salad bar and got the worst food poisoning ever. Think they should know and I hope no one else got sick. I retract this statement found out many people in town had a stomach bug going around. Sorry i jumped to conclusions.

Not impressed. Upon arrival I told the host we wanted the full experience and they failed to deliver. Me, my wife, daughter & 2 grandkids. Asked if we could be seated on river side and they declined rather than put 2 tables together and we were seated on the opposite side. I could understand if there weren't tables available but there were. I'd be hard pressed to spend another $200 there again, if any. If it wasn't for our server it'd be 1 star.

I used to fly in here with my Grandad when i was a kid, he was friends with Jim Gaston, but i hadn't been there in years. My wife and I decided we would give it a shot this weekend since we were heading over around Mountain Home. We got to the restaurant around noon and it wasn't too busy. We ordered the potato skins as an appetizer and i was surprised how many came in an order. A lot of restaurants seem to skimp on the appetizer, but this one was a large portion for the price. My wife just got the salad bar and i ordered the Shrimp burrito. I must say, i was surprised with how good it was. Typically when something around here says something like "cajun flare" or similar, it never lives up to that typical Louisiana flavor, but this did. It was a large burrito, stuffed with fried shrimp and coleslaw and came with a good portion of crusty breaded fries. Gastons is a little bit out of the way, but if you are in the neighborhood and want some good food and a neat atmosphere, you should give them a shot.

I took my family here for our Thanksgiving Day celebration. We were not disappointed! This was definitely my best ever meal at Gaston's and I have been eating there since 1978! Everything was over the top from the carving station to the pastry bar. And the service was excellent and attentive!!! My thanks to Gaston's for a wonderful holiday experience!

We had a party of 4.5(baby) and ordered Steak, lobster, grouper special, and pasta. All were great! Each entree came with a trip to the salad bar(which was also a great salad bar). Some in our party were disappointed b/c our salad plates were tiny (and there was alot of yummy food up there including pasta salads, cheese balls, and other yummy things) and they didnt know it was a "one trip only" so they didn't get everything they wanted. I, on the other hand, piled my tiny plate high and got everything I wanted. Ha. The lobster was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and steaks were tender and cooked perfectly. The pasta salad was very flavorful-I just wish you could change out the meat in it (shrimp instead of chicken if you want). The grouper was tasty too.

We have been to this place probably 4 or 5 times over the years and I must say that this is the best the food has ever been. It has always been a great destination place where the scenery and atmosphere made up for any disappointments in the food. Now the food seems to be getting close to the restaurant's other attributes. This last time we were with a large group and the wait staff seemed a little short handed, waiting an eternity for drinks, but other than that we were all happy. Probably a 4.5/5, but I would go to this place even if they served frozen burritos.

The menu was new and very well done, with the food being the best around. I had the Pecan Cajun Tuna, and it was possibly the best Tuna entree I have ever had. Please go to Gastons for a great meal, especially if you haven't been in the last couple of years. Chef Rick provides you with fresh food from a practical menu. It's worth every penny plus more.

After 5 visits over 2 years its our opinion that Gaston's is by far the best local "fancy" restaurant. The facility/grounds are unique and beautiful and so is the interior of the restaurant. Great little bar. We love the cool collections of various antiques, it's like a museum. The food is always excellent, especially events like their incredible Valentine's Day spread (the date opportunity of the year, fellas). Gaston's is a little pricey but you get more than you pay for so its always a fun and worthwhile adventure. Highly recommended!

I was extremely excited to visit Gastons with my family visiting from Colorado. I thought the food was average and not at all the quality I was expecting for the price. Frankly, my catfish is much better than what I was served that day. Coincidentally, I was at the reception desk at the same time as the chef, and he was "extremely" rude and inconsiderate. In the future, I will choose another location to take my family. Perhaps, Rockbridge.

The prices are absolutely ridiculous for the quality of food. For example, the majority of the sandwiches were around $13, for a basic sandwich that would be $8-$10 anywhere else. Service was poor, the hostesses looked surprised when we walked in and didn't know what to do. A manager had to come figure out a seat for us (it was about 1:30 and not busy at all) and reprimand them in front of us for not keeping up with the seating chart. But sadly, it's one of the few places to eat in the area.

Gaston's is a beautiful place ! I love just going there for a nice meal. A nature lover's must see. It's a top rated and very nice fishing resort on the Buffalo river surrounded by the beautiful Arkansas landscape. Plus a fantastic white table cloth restaurant right on the river. The food is always wonderful (the weekend breakfast buffet is great) the service is great, and the restaurant has very interesting decor of old timey pieces all over. Ohh, and they have peacocks ! I would highly recommend it!!!
