This place is an amazing LOCAL BUSINESS! They have the best local raised live and frozen rodents for feeding snakes. Call them for availabilty of frozen ones before heading over to the store to ensure they have frozen in the size and quantity needed. They have great selection of fish, lizards, turtles, frogs, snakes and more for family pets or the hobbiest. This place takes pride in keeping their customers happy and coming back with great service unlike the common corporate chains that are very robotic in customer service. They are very helpful and provide great knowledge or ideas on where to gain knowledge on caring for your new house member(s). The prices here are affortable too.

Crowded mess of a place.. if you are into aquascapes and fish then you might find certain items cheaper in price and reliable, but I went there as a reptile and amphibian admirer and it was awful. They are one of two places in the Central valley that sells isopods and springtails.. the lady was very helpful as the 7 tubs of springtails they offered were all dried up and dead and told me so.. I bought two tubs of isopods (15 each) and by the time I got home I only saw two alive.. Their snake and lizard tanks in the back room were sad and unmaintained. Again, I am reviewing from a reptile/amphibian admirer standpoint. Before I left the lady even told the owner that they had 12 baby chameleons coming in on Monday (two days from this post) and they didn't know where to put them. I would definitely go to Custom Creatures off of 19th and Peoria Ave for all your reptile/amphibian needs.. from soil/housing maintenance and enrichment to overall knowledge of the animals. The owners at custom creatures grow their own isopods and know about what they are selling. I am not trying to knock this place because I went in for reptile needs but I highly suggest to the owner of this place to stick with aquascapes and fish and don't house any reptiles.. I do appreciate the help they gave, but was overall disappointed with what I saw, which is why I still give them three stars and not one.. I am just trying to give a heads up to anyone looking for things in the similar situation as I am.

I've had enough of this place. The owner talks down on you no matter how much experience you might have. The co-workers can't answer any questions and have to refer to said owner. Filled to the bring with outdated merchandise so it's hard to get around the store. I had a question about one of the only healthy looking corals there and he said it's not for sale instantly and didn't bother to help me come up with another option. Mind you it was not in a display tank and had no sign saying NFS. Other store are so much more worth your time instead of risking bringing home diseased and pest filled fish.

If you are looking for a store that sells fish and not so much into servicing your fish tank for a monthly price, this is the place..mom and pop spot, with a Plethora of verity. Price wise..it's a customer who sells fish, and loves them as much as you do..great people, can get busy at times but keep in mind it's mom and pop well worth the patience. There is very few and I mean very few, places like this. Put this place on your to do list for sure.

Good shop with again good selections and will have the "Good stuff" lights, feed, hardware the works. Staff is good too know their stuff and will get you headed in the right direction. Also will agree the owner is 50/50 on his mood but will always help and he really knows his stuff! The place is packed in and really tight but worth the trip if you have not been!

@skullcandysass I recently got my Mojave ball python snake here and I love this store! They are pretty small but they have everything you need! The staff are all friendly, personable, and very knowledgeable. I went in at least once a week to visit my snake while I was saving to buy her and they never got sick of me coming and asking tons of questions, lol. The store is clean and fish/reptiles are well taken care of. They have a nice array of different species. I get my feeders here as well and will continue to go here because they have excellent customer service. :)

I bought some fish and plants, 2 of the fish died a bit after I got them, one had mouth rot and the other died of an unknown cause. store also has a stench to it and it's pretty crowded, but besides the fish that died they seem to be heathy, their prices can't really be beat and they were very nice

We also inquired about some guppies, his demeanor seemed angry and dismissive. I was recommend to go to this place by a friend. It was a horrible experience for the both of us. Absolutely disgusting store. Great products but all of them are dusty and I leave with my hands covered in dirt. I went to buy frozen food and it was expired, I told one of the employees who reported it to who I assume is the owner and I heard him say that it is just a “best by” but it clearly said expired. Large roaches on the walls and there were 5-6 roaches in one of the gerbil cages towards the back. Dissapointed. Older man was snarky with me, I will not be returning.

Don(the owner) is probably one of the most intelligent and knowledgeable people in the valley with animals of all types. Fish, lizards, mammals, etc. He knows proper care on literally everything I've ever asked about(I verified by researching before asking him and he'll either reaffirm or correct my information). He's caring and will even remember your name. I've frequented literally every lizard shop in town. He's the only place that gets my business now. You will not be dissatisfied.

Ive been going here for years now for my beard dragons heating lamps. Me thinking that the owner is probably knowledgeable of all these reptiles had been telling me to get the WRONG LIGHTS FOR MY REPTILES. Now I have a dying reptile on my hands that has a calcium deficiency and is shaking and lethargic and won't eat or drink. The lights I need to get for them HAS TO CONTAIN UVB LIGHTING. He has been recommending me these cheap 10 dollar lights that I go through all the time when i could have been getting the correct lights. Make sure your local pet store is knowledgeable on your pets otherwise you might have a dying animal on your hands like me.

Awesome selection of fish! I'm a Cichlid keeper so this definitely fits the bill (lol). You will find a large selection of African AND South American Cichlids here in MANY different sizes from fry to full grown adults. This is refreshing because most stores only have very small specimens priced like adults. He also has a great selection of community fish and salt water fish. Prices vary depending upon the size and rarity of the fish. Like most fish stores there is no 100% refund policy in place and as most aquarists know purchasing fish is a bit of a gamble because fish can die for a wide variety of reasons other than water conditions ( yours or theirs) and no one is perfect. I have purchased 2 fish from this shop. One survived, one died (behavioral issues in my estimation) the key to remember with cichlids and with most fish is that they are prone to behavioral issues and stress (both which can lead to sickness or death) most fish keepers acknowledge and understand this if they are honest. I would return to this shiop more often if it was closer to my home. A wonderful family owned shop with an amazing selection.

The first thing I noticed was the stench of the place. I got the impression the guy waiting on me didn't want to sell me anything. Everything I did was wrong and I should get "rid" of all my fish except one in a thirty gallon tank. But looking around I see severe overcrowding of large fish in the same size tanks. Been doing fine for years with the tank I have and a large fish pond. Asking about plants I see snails, good place to get a snail infestation. Don't bother to waste your time. Difficult to see a business watch money walk out the door!

Purchased 3 fish. Albino Oscar , blood parrot and a male convict cichlid. Three weeks and they are all thriving and super healthy. Both employees were super helpful and very nice. Last time we will be coming here. Purchased a pH adjustment kit along with other items. After using for the kit for several days per it's instructions the it was having no change on the pH of our tank. At this point I noticed the expiration date was a year old as of this month. No big deal I thought, it happens I'll just take it back and get an exchange. I was helped by who I believe is the owner as I have seen him in here several times. After giving him the receipt and the old product He retrieved an identical box from the shelf to what I had bought and told me he had to charge me $1 because the price had gone up since they put the expired one on the shelf. I thought he was joking.. but he was as serious as a heart attack. After telling him I didn't bring any money with me not was I expecting to pay anything for an exchange he just slid the box over and said "he wasn't going to argue with me over $1". What kind of customer service is that? My daughter and I lived coming here; but no way we are returning to be treated like that. He didn't even address the fact I had to come back to exchange the product or apologized for being sold a product that should have been taken off the shelf a year earlier. Not to mention this was being used with LIVE FISH. To any potential customers, avoid this place - check the expiration dates and good forbid you need to return or exchange something. We will go out of our way to visit a different store, I would recommend everyone else does too.

Got to tell you found this place by accident. We have aquarium with just a few fish we've had for year's. For adding water or outright changing out the tank I don't like to use anything but "DeClor" to immediately remove chlorine from the water and its getting harder to find. This place had plenty and in several sizes along with the normal products. Will be going back again
