What a fantastic store. Both Sheri and Dave - very personable people. Started going there when I was starting my 180 gallon refurb. Dave helped me alot and I had him do some custom work for me. I am pleased with the quality - have a minor issue, but Dave assured me he would fix my issue. Now that the rebuild is almost done. I can focus on the continued growth of my reef. Of course there is Heath - what a guy he is helpful, personable and he listens. Dave and Sheri did well when they brought him into the fold. Happy to recommend - Happy Reefing!

This is really the only clean Salt water go to in the west valley, the staff is very helpful, but prices are a little on the high side and fish selection you have to be careful, they tend to have a lot of sick fish

I much prefer Kona Surprise to any other saltwater store in Arizona. So much cleaner and so much more knowlege from the people who work here. Looking for a place I can call my fish store and I have found it at Kona Reef: Studio Blue. I am willing to drive the 15 miles to this store because of the clean and healthy fish, coral and tank systems. I even saw a nice tang that I wanted but they said it was in the process of being treated because of just recently coming in and that they would not feel right selling me the fish but directed to another healthy one just like it.

We just found this gem of a store! Extremely clean, tanks are immaculate and kept up. No dead fish, clear water, great prices and superb staff. They had a great selection and can order what you want. Fresh and saltwater species. Tons of snail, shrimp and plant varieties. I am extremely impressed with this store. I have seen many tropical fish stores and this one ranks #1. Go check them out!

I love going to Studio blue, I know sometimes I go in or I call too much but they're always very helpful Dave is very intelligent he's the type of guy that he will not sell you something that will not work for you like some of the other lfs stores a lot of the other lfs stores will say anything to get you to buy . Sherry and Dave are not like that at all there down to earth very helpful I love going in there all the time I bought my tank from them everything inside my tank is from them I will only go there I will never shop at any other saltwater store ever again and also Rick he knows a lot as well very nice and pleasant and you can't forget about the little doggie he so cute but I give Studio Blu 5 Stars across the board.

This place had decent variety of fish and corals. Couldn't say the fish looked healthy because 80 percent were tinier than what your see at other stores. Place was well organized and only thing were I got lost was trying to find the equipment room since it like a storage closet I didn't know if I was allowed there. Their expensive corals are nice but again extra expensive with only some being comparable to online retailers and they were no where near close to other mom and pop coral shops. They did have a cyano issue on the small frag tank and An employee tried to tell me it was from nopox overdose but it was beneficial, never has cyano been called beneficial before. Didn't like the deception just for a sale. If they were to lower prices just a little or use those prices for bigger fish they would get an extra star. Also sales are important but not at the cost of deception. All in all I would recommend this place but only if you have cash to burn and a massive knowledge of what you are in there for. After all I just came home with a hundred dollar coral from them.

Very clean shop! Family owned and operated by a friendly, awesome couple. Actually, all staff is friendly and knowledgeable. A little off the beaten path but a worthwhile trip. The selection is awesome and if they don't have it, Dave and/or Shari will order it for you. Great LFS for salt/reef and FW & plants! They carry some tissue culture plants as well! While it's a fairly new shop, they are continually making improvements (especially on the FW side). Check em out!

We purchased 5 fish from them on 03/09/19. Four Gold Honey Gouramis, and one Electric Blue Balloon Ram. 24 hours later the Ram was dead. I took him back to the store, but was told they do not warranty their fish. They tested my water and did not find anything wrong with it. He asked me if I had any other rams. I told him I do, 2 Orange Flame rams, several German Blue, and one Electric Blue. My tank is 75 gallon and has been established for almost a year. When purchasing the fish, the person catching them for us dropped one of them on the floor and chased it around a bit before catching it and putting it back in the tank. When bagging my fish he put the bags to his mouth and blew into them to put some air in the bag with the water??? Even though I told him I did not think that was a good idea, he told me this was a perfectly acceptable practice because there is still some oxygen in the air you exhale. Are you serious? He said as long as they weren't going to be in the bag too long, they'd be okay. The person who helped me today when I came back with the dead fish told my they take every precaution to insure they only sell perfectly healthy fish, which obviously includes blowing air from their lungs into the bag with your fish, and this is why they do not warranty them. Do they make exceptions for the ones that land on the floor? How about the dead ones I pointed out to him in their perfectly healthy tanks while I was there? I asked him, isn't it possible I just got an unhealthy fish? He shrugged his shoulders & said "sorry for your loss, Sir." They never told us that they do not warranty their fish, but I did not ask, either, as we made the assumption that they did, like every other place I've ever bought fish from. $20.00 for a nickel size fish is not cheap, and I feel they should have given me a replacement for it. I told him that I would not be purchasing any fish from there again.

Haven't gone into the store, just driven by and liked the sign. All jokes aside, the 2nd location of the Kona Reef Enterprise that is quite the GEM!!! Bit of a drive for me but we'll worth it to see the coral selection, the fresh and saltwater selection is equally as impressive. The Kona staff make sure they answer all my questions. The Manager Ben is as smart as he is handsome and makes up for his short frame with loads of knowledge on fresh and saltwater systems. LOVE LOVE LOVE this store, Thank you KONA REEF!!

When you get into the store it's obvious that a lot of care, planning and time has gone into the studio blue store design to make it pleasing to guests but as well to the animals lucky enough to arrive at this fish store. I went in yesterday to see the new IFALOS tanks and they are absolutely spectacular! A must see for an aquarium enthusiast. If you live in Arizona this is the place to get all of your marine life and supplies. By far this is one of the bust businesses in the Surprise area, bar none. I haven't even been to restaurants that care more for my experience than the owners and employees at Studio Blue. I brought my 13 yr old to Studio Blue to begin his first adventure in aquarium building and aquarium maintenance. The employees and owners at Studio blue took him under their wings and began his marvelous journey as an aquarist. Amazing! I am not sure why you would go anywhere else for any of your aquarium needs. Some how Google thinks only five stars is enough for this company but in reality Google is wrong. This is easily a ten star company! Thank you so much to everyone at Studio Blue for everything!

Bought a good amount of stock multiple times but the last time I went, I was misinformed regarding a sebae anemone. The guy told me it was healthy, but not knowing about sebae anemones fully, I had to rely on the employee. The anemone was bleached, and began to die soon after I got it. Right next to my thriving Haddon’s Carpet anemone and my long tentacle anemone. This was my favorite LFS before they sold me sick stock for a quick $50

Recently got into the saltwater hobby and I have been to all of the other local stores before finding this gem by recommendation. Wow what a difference. They are miles above any of the other stores I have been to. From the moment you walk in, this place just exudes quality and cleanliness. The staff is friendly and knowledgable and they have a lot of plumbing supplies that one might need in the hobby. They take the time to answer your questions instead of giving you a quick answer and moving on to sell something to the next person. The best thing for me though is that this place is MUCH closer than the less desirable store I was going to. Very happy!

From the name one might think it was a night club, but I assure you it is way, way better. Nice and cool, very clean and extremely well done this complete saltwater reef aquarium store, and full service, design and maintenance business is a sight for any island-minded, ocean-going individual eyes that just might miss sun, sand, and fishes. Tres spendy, but very professional with the latest, cutting-edge reef tank environments. A great selection of exquisite coral and some beauty pageant, reef fish. Dan and company are homey, knowledgeable, and easy to interact with. Jessie was very happy to have a playdate with Sprout, the store's Belgian Griffon, dog-face mascot! 6 Stars, highly recommended!

One of the best stores I’ve been to in the valley. Great coral selection, knowledgable staff and well kept fish. There’s coral/fish bans in the most common places to collect fish and coral yet kona maintains a good healthy selection of both. Can’t find trachs anywhere this place has a bunch. However that does mean prices go up as things get more rare, you get what you pay for here. If you want something nice it’s going to cost. They also have cheaper corals from 10-40$.

After visiting all of the tropical fish stores in the valley, nothing comes close to the quality of Kona. They have great stock and the staff is incredibly knowledgeable. Ben is definitely a stand out employee, and has proved to be a great resource in setting up and maintaining my first reef Aquarium!
