Mr. Peter Yunger, the owner of this company "help" me with the huge order of plants I made. He answered my questions and charged my credit card very fast, but after that it was a real nightmare to deal with him.. I ordered more than $400 in plants for my business and I specifically asked if he was going to send me the plants I wanted, unfortunately he did not. First of all he changed many plants, mainly the exotic plants like barclaya longifolia, Borneo ferns and some cryptocorynes; the sent very common plants instead of what I paid for. He never gave me an explanation and really lie to me. Then, I paid for many Aponogeton plants, I paid for full plants but he sent me a lot of bulbs, many of which were dead already. Bulbs without leaves when I paid more just to get the grown plants. Mr. Yunger did not accepted this, I have pictures of everything.... Lier. Finally the packing was so bad that the few plants he sent as requested were totally squeeze, very damaged and it took me a lot of time and work to make them look fine. I recommend you to look for someone else if you are looking for aquarium plants. Arizona Aquatic Gardens is the worst!

I cannot believe all of the negative comments on the Google reviews. I have been using this company for 4 years now and never had 1 complaint! All the information you need for ordering and shipping is located on the website. I order fish, snails, plants, lights, maintenance supplies and wood/rock pieces. Everything is EXCELLENT quality, arrives alive and in great condition. AAG items of all sorts surpass anything I have ever purchased anywhere else! Peter, the owner, is awesome to work with on design ideas, rebuilds, and even helps with the simplest of questions. I HIGHLY recommend Arizona Aquatic Gardens.

Worst place to buy fish. If youre looking to do business with them forget it. Worst customer service ypu can ever imagine never replied to an email or voicemail. Thats not even the worst part. Ordered over 200 dollars worth of fish recieved some dead which was expected but was missing $87 worth of fish how do you do that how do you steal from customers or not bother to send a simple email explaining why their order was imcomplete. How peter? How does it not bother you that you have an F rating according to the Better Business Bureau. Youre in the wrong business. Try harder or do not bother offering your product to people. Worst.

Buyer beware! I have since been refunded in full by PayPal so this is to help someone else that hasn't dealt with this business. Peter Yunger is not honest, he is rude and extremely arrogant. Worst of all he sells and ships fish that are nothing to what he claims and advertises on his website. I purchased Discus that were stunted, sickly and in very poor health. I ordered 9, 5 were DOA. I ended up with 2 that survived but we're very tiny and eventually rehomed. He hasn't the slightest clue how to ship fish even within the same state of AZ. Please take this message seriously. If you have had a similar thing happen to you regarding As Gardens please report it so we can shut this business down.

This place is the worst. I work for a public aquarium. We ordered some fish and they sent it 2 day mail for 66 dollars. The box weighed about 1lb. The fish were almost dead. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PLACE AT ALL!! There is no one to answer calls and they have absolutely the worst customer service ever.

From actual customer. Check yelp and bbb for more accurate reviews. I'm not wasting anymore time on a company that lies, ignores complaints, repeatedly ships wrong fish and treats customers they way they do. And why do they not allow anyone to post a review on their Facebook page? And why if in business for so long do you not have pages of glowing reviews? Guess.

While I have no real issue with the overall quality of fish I received, their customer service is terrible. Read all of the shipping rules, BEFORE STARTING your order. I had two fish arrive DOA. The rules are specific that you must contact them within 24 hours of delivery and add a clear picture. I followed these rules. Never got a response. A few days later I realized that I had not received one type of fish that I ordered. I admit that I had not looked at the packing slip, but had checked the online order and it listed that the order was complete, 2 days before I received the original order. I contacted them by chat on their website. Says that it will be a couple of minutes, but it was hours, until I got a response that the fish were backordered. I again contacted them using the contact page on their website, asking what is the status of this order and could I order 2 more of the fish that arrived DOA. Again never got a response. I found out the fish were coming only because I got an automated email from the shipping company. The fish showed up, and what I received is not what I ordered. Ordered Dwarf Thicklipped Gourami and received Blue Gourami. Slightly cheaper fish, but more concerning to me is that these fish tend to get larger than what I ordered. I sent an email complaint to the business, and for the first time got a reply. A very arrogant reply telling me that you must let them know if you do not want any substitutions. (Conveniently hid in the long worded shipping agreement, and not mentioned on the website's order form page).. I have never purchased anything online, and received a cheaper substitute. No info on being refunded the difference in price. In fact the packing slip stated that what was shipped, was what I originally ordered. The rest of the reply was threatening the possibility of a defamation lawsuit if I followed thru and posted negative reviews. Absolutely the most arrogant, terrible customer service I have ever dealt with. Buyer Beware.

So I cant get ahold of anyone. No email response or phone contact. They own me hundreds of dollars in Doa, wrong fish, shrimp, and uncomplicated orders. It's been over a month and still no respons . I'd give them negative stars if I could. At this point I'm build a case against them.. bad bad business people here!

I recently ordered 2 galaxy rasboras, 10 otos, 10 Amano shrimps, 2 patches of baby tears, and 1 patch of fern. The package was delivered on time, when the package was opened there was 2 dead fish: 1 galaxy ras, 1 oto. The dead fish is expected regardless of what the seller states. The remaining live Galaxy rasbora was alive but very stress and exhibited a wavy deformed spine. Right away a text msg pic was send to a staff at the distributor, the only reply that same day was " ok, I am sorry". I wanted to call the next day and ask them about the deformed spine and my credit back to my account/credit card but was not able to do so due to work, until today. Was able to reach someone right away when called, when told about the 2 dead fish, and asked about why the deformed fish was even sent, this was the only reply I got " WHO KNOWS, YOU KNOW THE NATURE OF THE BUSINESS, WE HAVE GIVEN YOU STORE CREDIT FOR YOUR ORDER NEXT TIME WITH US". You can judge for yourself what that reply means. As for the plants, they were nice and green and healthy, the shrimps were also active but a few died the following day (again is expected) Due to the possibility of deformed/ill/dead fish that may be shipped, I will not order any live fish from them again, I may however order plants from them if I can not find it else where. I ordered 6 Celestial Pearl Danios aka Celestial Rasboras and 3 Cory cats. The danios were very small and frankly looked and acted sick. I lost all 6 within a week. Is this facility not feeding their livestock properly? Cory cats were all OK. Poor communication, did not respond to emails. Do not use this supplier. I recommend Aquatic Arts in (I think) Indianapolis. Healthy stock, wonderful communtication..........sorry AZ Gardens; you need to get your act together.

We purchased some fish from this place and paid for overnight shipping. When we received the fish, we noticed some fin and tail rot and 2 of the fish looked sick. When we notified them we were unhappy with the fish, they said "things can happen during shipping". A day later, 2 of the fish died and Arizona Aquatic Gardens refused to do anything about it. Very unsatisfied with their service and will never order from again.

Scam. They have no problem accepting the payment, but still has not shipped my order after placing my order over a month ago. Never reply to the emails i sent. And they wonder why they are getting bad feedback. If you are looking to purchase fish/plants online, look elsewhere.

This guy is a hot mess. My order was all kinds of messed up, they sent me the wrong plants, dead fish, you name it. I tried to work with the guy but he would only give me store credit. Then he deleted all of my negative (but truthful) reviews from his website. Then he refused to answer any more communications from me. I ended up doing a charge back with my bank on my credit card. The only one I've ever done in twenty years. I'd compare the positive reviews in her to the reviews on the site to see if they read the same. All of the reviews on the site sound like theyare written by the same person.

Horrible quality animals. I received 12 dead dwarf shrimp out of 58 ordered. After less than 14hrs I had another 23 dead. Called and left message....sent emails....NO return on either. On top of that I ordered a huge variety but apparently they were replaced with what was in stock. I was forced to give them one star because I could not give the none and submit this review.

Ordered cichlids the only fish I cared about what’s DOA the only way to get another one is to attempt to get credit from this company and then re-purchase and then spend another $60 on shipping which they can guarantee your fish are alive on arrival you’re going to guarantee fish are alive on arrival they should probably be alive on arrival or you should guarantee to replace said fish or at least give them their money back there guaranteed on arrival is a scam

Wrong fish sent. Listen to reviews, I didn't see them until after I ordered... To give them credit most of my order was correct. I ordered 5 kuhli loach amongst other things, 3 are a different species, probably java loach. After digging thru the site I found a most ridiculous disclaimer saying... "Sometimes, when needed, we may make subs, but only sometimes, and only with ‘similar or like’ items. If you don’t want any subs made, please tell us on your order’s shopping cart checkout notes: “NO SUBS” and we will honor your request. We do not call or email customers during our busy time of packing orders that something is out of stock." etc. Thought about contacting seller, but since they don't accept returns on fish and after reading all the reviews, plus just how their website is worded alone I figure it's not worth the hassle. Two stars for the kuhli's I did get, Javas are alright just not what I wanted, buyer beware. At least they didn't send Dojos.

Always Helpful on the phone which is rare to get these days, they offer top notch help, these are people that have so much knowledge, and between me and others members in our fish club azgardens.com has always had excellent business ethics and offers so much of their time to help with fish questions, and algae help when we need it. Sure fish can die in transit, but this company always offers me an in house credit, and I use it! Shocked to see the negatives, but I dont normally write reviews when Im happy, only when I am angry. lol The people I have dealt with at this farm deserve a better rating, thus why I took the time today to post a 5 star review. Im a lifetime customer, ordered since the early 1990's and will continue to order here. Thanks guys, keep up the good work.

I've had the worst experience with them. They do not own a nursery or hatchery. They wait for orders to come in & then bulk order everything, & throw the fish in disgusting tanks that are unkept. It is practically an aquatic puppy mill. The CEO called me screaming at me, because I posted a review telling the truth. He fired my friend, & didn't pay him. I'm telling the truth when I say that they do not do or say what they advertise. They substitute cheaper fish for more expensive ones, & do not respond to customer complaints & steal pictures off the web & post them of "their" fish to pass as their own.

Horrible service. Took them THREE WEEKS to ship a handful of plants. When I attempted to find out the status of my order and/or to cancel the order since (after two weeks) I still had no product or update, they ignored my emails and phone message. After my last email they sent out my package anyway, even though I had said I wanted it cancelled, then proceeded to send me a notice I owed them for shipping, even though I had stated I no longer wanted the order. They charged me $16.20 for a USPS FLAT RATE small box, which is not $16.20. They sent me reminders to pay slmost daily, yet couldnt reply to a PAYING customers requests for contact? Bottom line: HORRIBLE customer service! Probably the worst Ive ever experienced. If this is their standards of conducting business, I have no idea how they are still operating.

I worked here for years, with a friend who got fired. They do not have a nursery, they order from somewhere else & say it's their own. They do not have a hatchery. It's an aquatic puppy mill, they order from other company's & say it's their own. They substitute lower value items for fish, crustaceons, plants, dry goods. They never paid my friend when he left, because the boss screamed at him because he told the boss he was dishonest. The boss called me, & screamed at me with profanity every day, & contacted me a few weeks away & swore at me, because I left a review telling the truth. It's up to you if you want to order from them. Go ahead. Just read the other reviews.

Never an issue, just great personal service, products, fish and plants always! 5 stars without hesitation. They have given countless hours of help on the phone to help get my pond in perfect working order over the years. We've been a customer since 1991 when we first built our pond. I can call Peter after 20 some yrs later and he still remembers me and even little details about my projects. I had recently gotten into raising Discus in our new fishroom with my granddaughter. The Discus we have gotten on 3 different orders this year alone were all perfect. After seeing so many negative reviews, I thought I better let people know that I cannot imagine ever having a bad experience with azgardens. They're far too kind, generous and have such a great company niche business, it is likely that those of us that have had such good experiences just dont have time to do a positive review because there's nothing to complain about or are too busy. I am a real customer with a valid opinion. thx

Just don't do it. Believe the reviews and order at your own risk. I ordered plants that were never shipped and they wouldn't return my calls. Finally had to get my money back by disputing the charge on my credit card. I really don't know how they are still in business.

Always Good! A customer since 1995 or 96. I refer all my friends to this farm and no one has ever complained to me, and trust me, I would've heard if there was a problem, us fish people have the bar raised. Our fish club buys bulk from azgardens.com and has always turned out excellent not to mention a generous company. They have donated items to our club event auctions and gone above & beyond to help us when we needed it. I would recommend them to anyone looking for quality aquatic plants as well as some pretty rare fish and shrimp species.My fish tanks have always looked great because of the personal help I get from this outfit. So I give them a 5 star rating for the delivery and the live fish.. although I overpaid for the fish as I got 2 of the same for 14 dollars each from pet store down the street(twice as big), they had said it was a medium size fish(at least 3 and a half inches) which I paid the extra 30 for and I got a 2 and a half inch fish(which I paid 14 dollars at local fish store for a 4 and a half inch fish(twice the size), prior to getting the fish they had taken money that day and it did not ship for 6 business days(not including weekend) which I paid like 65 dollars or something for 1-2 day shipping, I had called them 5 times(no answer) I had texted them which voice mail says to do if they are not answering and no answer, I had left them 2 emails and they did not respond back. They had just shipped fish without response.. all in all I paid about 90 dollars for a smaller fish than I wanted, that is now with 4 and a half inch fish(fish food) and I bought 2 of the same nature for less than 30 bucks and they were twice the size.. overpriced and bad costumer service but if u pay the money u will get a live fish..

I only gave one star because you can't give 0 stars. These guys are horrible. We live in Tucson and tried to purchase a fish, they said they could only ship us a fish. I told him I was a bit worried about the shipping because of the bad reviews I seen on Google about people receiving dead fish after ordering from them and he said that the reviews are all wrong and there is no monitor for Google, then proceeded to tell me I don't sound like the kind of customer they want to deal with anyway. Good luck to anyone doing business with this company. I can understand they are not pet store and need to deliver but when I voice my concern about getting my fish healthy and alive you should have a better comeback than I'm not the kind of customer you want to deal with.

I'm really surprised to see some of the negative reviews on here as our company has had excellent experiences with azgardens. I was able to call and speak with Pete directly and he helped me stock my 55, 10, and 100 gal tanks. He assisted me in choosing shrimp and some mosses and seemed knowledgeable and willing to help. I've also purchased some swords in packs and matted plants. I did find the shipping charges a bit high but when you spend $200-$300 on the purchase of animals and plants you can't find local a $60 shipping charge distributed out isn't too bad. Add to the fact that everything was well packed (insulated, cool packed, and secured with paper fill) and it was worth it. Everything I've purchased arrived alive and well and even now months later is flurishing my 50shrimp are 100+ :) Later on I noticed charges on our account that seemed odd (from China) around the same time as our last azgardens purchase for a very similar amount. Before denying the charges I texted Pete to see if they had an off shore account (I didn't want to call since it would have been after hrs in AZ) Pete immediately called me back and confirmed that the charges had nothing to do with his company. Over all our corperation (Sekula Environmental Services inc.) in Pennsylvania has had great experiences with azgardens and I feel Pete has really gone above expectation to assist us.

I have no Idea why people say mean things,I have had nothing but good experience from this compony, I am deep into the hobby and I deal with breeders and componys all the time, this is the first time I have a transaction go through so smoothly, from the beginning to end, I was notified on what to expect, and when the order came, I was amazed at how clean and safe the live package was. The plants were very fresh, no smell, intact, and OH MY ! THE FISHES WERE BEAUTIFUL~ body shape is excellent, scales , and finnage are all top notch. Peter Yunger , was very helpful and gave me a good feeling over the phone, did not once rush me off, even though I know he is bussy. Horrible experience with this place. They shipped the wrong fish but labeled them as what I ordered. Not one of the plants I ordered looked healthy and the all died within the week. I tried several times to get in touch either by phone or email with no success. Eventually they did call me but that was after a week or so of me posting a negative review on their site daily. I did it daily because they would just remove it every morning. When they did call it was to threaten me about the bad reviews and told me I should be happy with the fish they sent because they're cooler than the ones I ordered.

This place is ridiculous. We live in Tucson AZ and they refused to let us come pick up a fish at their location. They are obviously a home breeder selling out of their house. I am a pretty well known guy here in Tucson and I will be preaching the way this guy treated my Wife over the phone from the roof tops. they are obviously a home based business and that is why they dont have an address on google maps. Waited nearly 6 weeks for a $100 order and when the order finally came in it was completely wrong. Ordered desert gobies and several kinds of nerite snails, and instead got knight gobies and nerites that didn't even look similar to what I ordered. Been calling and emailing about this for the past three weeks and haven't gotten a response. Do not buy from this company! They claim they are knowledgeable and care about their customers, although based on my experience and many others they clearly don't.

Ordered 2 lotus tubers. While the plants were well packed and still warm when they arrived (cold weather), the tubers themselves were extremely poor quality. No growth tips on either one. There is no way to contact AZ Aquatic Gardens. They do not reply via email and the phone number never rings to a live person. The voicemail box is always full and you cannot leave a message. What kind of business is this? Taking my money elsewhere.

I’m never going to buy from them again...Never! My first order can very quickly but it was missing 9 fishes. I called them and they rudely tell me that it was split into two orders. Two weeks and no communication about my 2nd order. I go online and chat live with them. No response on “live” chat but did get a response the next day. Told me to write them an email through “contact us”. I write them an email, no response...none. I call and spoke with someone and was told they were going to harvest the fishe this week. After getting no communication, I got my order about 7 weeks after I paid. The fishes came in horrible condition. The water was dirty and they had “ick” all over them. I don’t think they’re going to survive.

Do not buy a fish or plants here they usually send u not what u want. Pics are a good quality but non of them match to what they sale. I order from them ruby barb they send me similar but not what supposed to be, with plants story even worth they saying red but send you green pics taken from internet the best one.

I've ordered fish 3 separate times over 3 years. First experience 3 yrs ago went good, while the other 2 got worse each time. Don't waste your money on their "larger" size of fish they sell for a higher price. When I spoke to their customer service, they were extremely rude, disrespectful and not willing to fix what they could have fixed. If I am taking the time to write this review, I guarantee I will not do business with Arizona Aquatic Gardens again, and I would advise you to buy with caution if you must buy from them.

I had been a customer since 2000. In the beginning they were always great with their product and customer service. A year ago i had ordered some fish and had marked the order no substitutions...they sent me a different species instead. I called them and they said they would send out the right fish no charge. They did but unfortunately they had switched their shipping from fed ex overnight to usps. The order was in the mail for 3 days and the fish arrived dead. They repeated this 1-2 more times and the fish were in the mail for days and arrived dead. I finally asked if they could ship them overnight or just give me a refund. All they would offer was store credit. I explained that the credit was worthless bc they would just arrive dead. I told him if they wouldnt offer a refund i would have to report them to my credit card as not selling what they claimed. He then became very rude and nasty and threatened to refuse service to me. Needless to say they lost a long time customer.

I should have read reviews first. They overcharge you and never answer phone or text. Shipped wrong fish, I paid extra for insulated box and I got Styrofoam sheets, paid extra for heat packs and got one cold one not even warm. I ALSO PAID $36 FOR OVERNIGHT SHIPPING AND THEY SENT IT IN MAIL 3 DAYS! Got an email from Pete saying he is not going to help me unless i change my negative feedback or attitude. I had to contact the BBB for a refund. THES GUYS ARE TERRIBLE. I RECOMMEND ANYBODY IN THE AQUATICS HOBBY OR BUSINESS TO STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS.

I am giving them no stars.....I would give them negative if I could. I ORDERED a group of 6 fish, 4 arrived and they were dead. I ORDERED 20 of another type and got about 15 and 2 died the first night. I have emailed several times, called both listed numbers daily all week long, and even used their live chat feature. I have not heard back from them. I filed a dispute with my cardholder. They don't deserve to be in business!

I have been ordering fish and plants from AZ gardens for more than 8 years. Quite frankly I am in shock at the bad reviews. I have gotten to know Pete and Jamie over the years and they have been nothing but kind, and upstanding! When my baby came early last year and I was in the hospital, Pete delivered the order himself and offered to help acclimate all the fish for me (mind you we have four fish tanks two of which are 80 gallon tanks). Normal deliveries come with an e-mail confirmation and usually every thing is as described and alive. When something goes wrong, I can text or e-mail and get credit for my next order. What I like most is Pete's willingness to answer questions. When I inherited an 80 gallon ciclid tank, I wasn't even able to identify all of the fish in the tank and had no idea how to care for them or what other fish could join them. Pete was very helpful in making sure I took good care of my new tank. He really knows fish and shrimp!

STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!! You’ve been warned. Wish I could give negative stars. Probably one of the worst companies I have ever done business with. I placed in order in beginning of July, and they kept making excuses to push the ship date back further and further into mid August. Eventually I asked them to cancel my order and they told me there’s an “inconvenience fee” and charged me $75 just to cancel my order. i have never heard of such a thing. They are very rude people running this company and also do not answer the office phone, emails or live chat and you will wait days for a response in text if at all( they always have excuses for that as well) I’m not sure how this company is even still in business. They are robbing people but then will repeatedly tell you they do business with “good faith”. What a joke!

This was probably the worst online experience I have ever had. 80% of the fish died within a day of putting them in my tank and they looked pretty malnourished when they arrived. Not to mention, half of the order wasn't included in the shipment. When I inquired about this, i received a reply days later saying that the other half of my order was back-ordered. I only learned about this when I actually was able to get a hold of them. When I finally talked to Peter and told him that I was dissatisfied with my experience and would be leaving a negative online review if he wasn't willing to help rectify the situation, he completely freaked out and accused me of "threatening him and his family." Buyer beware; really wish I would've read all of the negative online reviews before purchasing. But in all realty, with Peter at the helm, I'm pretty sure this company won't be around in a year from now...

I ordered some months ago and thought I was the only one. Horrible service! I was charged TWICE for shipping, and my shrimp were the wrong species, the fish were severely under the size listed, and I had to call multiple times to even ask about a refund! I suspect anyone who gives this place a wonderful review is paid off, because everyone in AZ knows it's cheaper to burn your money than order from here!

Shipped fish in 10 degree (daytime high) weather 3 weeks late and with 1/2 inch this insulation foam. All dead borderline frozen when they arrived (heat pack was ice cold, possibly never even activated), called and left voicemail to resolve issue and no response whatsoever. I do not reccomend this place to anyone who doesn't like throwing their money away.

The receipt, invoice, and website specified that my order had free shipping but the owner of the business is refusing to send my order unless I pay for shipping, saying “shipping isn’t free for us.” He has stolen over $200 from me and will not give it back.

Dude won't email me back, this place is a scam and most likely a dump judging by the condition of thier fish. I get fish in better condition from Tilapia farms.

I received my shipment of 50 Green Fire Tetras and 6 Electric Blue Ram last a week ago. 100% arrived alive and only 2 Green Fire Tetras have died since then. Probably the two that leaped out of the net onto the floor as I was transferring them to the tank :-(. I have ordered hundreds of fish from multiple vendors through the years and I think this breaks the record for percent alive at the end of a week. I liked the way they were shipped in multiple small bags. It is more work on your AGGs to pack this way, but think it probably makes for a higher percent survival in transit. I've ordered a lot of plants from AAG through the years, but this is the first time in a long time since I ordered any livestock. I'll be back!

PLEASE SEE VIDEO POSTED ON YOUTUBE "ARIZONA AQUATIC GARDENS" Missing fish that were paid for just not sent! All male guppy tales eaten one that I DID NOT ORDER is in the shape of a L and only has 1/4 of a tale. Lied to about their shipping policy, no tracking number sent. Ignored emails and phone calls, many dead shrimp and snails arrived. I posted the same video to their Facebook page numerous times all continue to be deleted! If they are so proud of the way they "lovingly hand pick" your order then why delete the video? Stand tall ... let the video show your "future" customers exactly what they can expect when they order from your company! Of course if you have something to hide ... then .... Still no email, still no phone call just complete silence! $190.14 spent on this company ... NEVER AGAIN! BE WARNED .... DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!

The customer service is horrible. I wouldn't even say it exists. I ordered over $200 of plants. About $30 of plants were sent as the wrong ones, and $60 of plants haven't even arrived even after I received the order complete email. I've waited about 3 weeks for a response with no success. I've tried to contact by email, phone, and text with no luck. I'm never buying from AZ gardens again.

Wow, my order arrived alive and well! I placed my order and almost canceled after reading the horrible reviews. But I emailed Pete with my concerns and he responded quickly and professionally. He left it up to me, so I trusted him and I'm so happy I did. I received exactly what I ordered. I live in Maine where temps are sub zero frequently, so I planned to be home when my order arrived. The heating packet was at the end of it's useful life and the animals were in cold water; perhaps 70 degrees ish. They were quite happy to plunge (after a quick acclimation of course!) into their new home at 80 degrees and plenty of food. Only one tiny red cherry shrimp out of five and one kuhli loach out of three did not survive. I asked to pay for upgraded overnight shipping instead of 2-day, but for whatever reason it didn't happen. I believe shipping is much of the issue people are experiencing, so I will provide my feedback to Pete before he quits selling retail. USPS is not as user friendly as UPS where I receive texts when the driver is nearby. I also believe if the animals had not been opened and into a new home as quickly as they had been, they would have perished, all 13. Editing my review after re-reading some of the reviews. No, I am not paid for my review. I have never been paid to review anything, ever. I shop almost exclusively online for everything including groceries. AAG has a very informative and well laid out site. I consider myself a good customer and expect good service and will even pay a higher price for it. My experience was excellent and I hope reasonable people will realize there is always another side to a story.

Will be contacting my credit card company to reverse payment if no resolution is provided. I have ordered Licorice Gourami from this place before as they are one of the few providers. My 1st order which costs a couple hundred, had 2 dead fish. That's near 20 bucks a pop. I contacted them 4 times with no follow-up. However, the other fish are beautiful and I love them. So 6 months later, I decide to order 8 more, thinking well at least the others survived and are beautiful. Order came in today, 1 fish short and sent me sparkling gourami. The price for sparkling gourami are a buck. They replaced a 20 dollar fish with a dollar one, as if I wouldn't know the difference.

This place is awful, their customer service is non existent and when a place tells you to not email or bother them about when your order will be shipped that should be a red flag. I ordered two fish and one has always had problems, the fish should have been culled. It was terribly bread and is almost deformed and came with parasites which I had to treat for a few months. The fish were terribly atrsses and came late as well and didn't require a signature so the mail man put my fish in a mail locker. I also purchased several nirite snails and they were all one variety not the different colors that i paid good money for. They gave me 10 of the cheapest snails. I will never buy from them again and I'm posting all over my fish Facebook groups to tell people to pass on them and go to dandy orandas.

Horrible, TWO THUMBS DOWN!!! Small Plants, and they charged me $48 shipping for the smallest USPS Priority box! Website said UPS, they WAY overcharged for USPS Priority! Website stated (and I requested at checkout), a tracking number when shipped, NEVER HAPPENED. I will never recommend them to ANYONE.

I worked for them, & also know exactly what goes on behind the scenes. His pictures that he posts online are not of his actual fish (which he states they are) instead, they are pictures he finds on google & steals from other people stating they're his own!!! He states in certain pictures that the photos are from his personal hatchery, when they really are not. He just gets the pics from any other google photo & doesn't site it. I never got paid my last pay check, & he threw out all of my items that I left there at his garage (which he runs his business out of). They do not have their own hatchery, I worked for them. They do not have their own nursery (all of their plants are imported from Florida Nursery & they charge their customers double) & instead, they tells all of their customers that all of their plants are their own. Whenever orders are placed, they just bulk order everything & then ship it for more, & charge double on whatever they made. It's up to you if you'd like to order from them, I just thought it'd be best you know the truth.

Horrible customer service! Horrible wait times! I am awaiting a full refund on my order that was never shipped after three weeks of waiting. I will not accept store credit as I have no desire to do business with this company anymore. BBB will be my next step. Update: This man (Pete) is quite a case, threatens legal action (LOL) over canceling an order because he failed to ship it out within the time frame stated on the website at the time of my purchase, and for writing a negative review. He then proceeded to tell me that the reason it was taking so long was because some of the fish I ordered died and they had to catch more, which makes me uncomfortable about their product to begin with. His attempts to belittle a person are laughable, as he will tell you that you are just "impatient," "diluted," and "not someone he wants to do business with anyway," when it is his horrible customer service and attitude that is the issue. Much like most of the other reviews state. Don't state one thing on your website, and directly to me on the phone, not follow up when there is a change, then get upset when I complain, Pete! Save yourself the drama and shop elsewhere. Heaven forbid you have an issue with the way he does business, or get your email blocked! *Gasp* And yes, PayPal will be getting my money back.

These people are extremely hard to get a hold of. I had ordered a Peacock Mantis Shrimp from them and after reading some of the forums to gain more knowledge to prepare for my new animal I kept reading on forums about them sending out the wrong species of mantis shrimp. I did not want to risk getting sent the wrong mantis shrimp as it would be cruel to the animal if they sent out the wrong one as I would have no where to put it. I tried getting in contact with the company but didn't hear back from them until a day or so later. They told me that they would charge a 30% restocking fee so instead I just decided to just proceed with my order because surely by now they've corrected this mistake of sending the wrong mantis shrimp. The package was sent out on Wednesday and I had chosen overnight delivery but the package was a day late. Not a big deal until I open the package to find the wrong mantis shrimp was sent out with my package. Instead of getting a Peacock Mantis Shrimp I got sent what I think to be a Zebra Mantis Shrimp. The difference between the two species of mantis shrimp is remarkable and near impossible to mistake. For one the Peacock Mantis Shrimp is vibrant and full of color hence the name peacock. The Zebra Mantis Shrimp is a really dull whitish tan beach sand color. The Peacock Mantis Shrimp has the hammer/smashing arms while the Zebra Mantis Shrimp has the arms more like a praying mantis for spearing things. They are so easy to tell apart a 3 year old could do so. I have contacted them about their mistake and have yet to hear back from them. The main thing that is unfortunate is I do not know what to do with the current mantis shrimp in the meantime. Until this is resolved this experience is definitely unacceptable and I do not recommend buying from them if they cannot get something like this fixed.

This place is the worst. Their customer service is by far the worst. I ordered 232 dollars worth of fish from this place without checking the reviews prior. Not only was the shipment delayed almost 3 weeks, which I had to reach out to them to find out, and in response got a pretty snarky message saying that this isn't clothing it's fish I have to be patient, which would have been nice to know before I had to message them. They didn't return calls (with voicemails left) they didn't respond to multiple emails, and only after 3 days responded on facebook. When we got the shipment finally, one of the fish was only half in water I was surprised it was even still alive. Then one of the more expensive fish we had purchased which was advertised on their site as being 4+inches was barely even an inch. We have a large tank with large fish and this fish unfortunately got ate almost immediately which wouldn't have happened if it had been the correct size and we ended up paying 57 dollars for a fish we could have gotten for 4 dollars at petsmart, which had we known we would have done it that way but the whole point was that we thought we were getting mature fish. Another fish was also very small and met the same fate shortly after, there was nothing that could be done, the third fish had a very unhealthy look its fins were completely torn apart and it looked to have an infection of some sort and 3 days in it passed away. The other 2 fish that we got weren't even the right kind and were again juvi fish despite being advertised on the site as being mature. I contacted them immediately upon opening the box and asked to know why were were shipped the wrong fish, baby fish etc, and got no response despite multiple inquires. Finally contacted the BBB and filed a complaint with paypal to which we were met with threats from the company stating that we wouldn't get our money back unless we shipped the fish back but we would have to pay out of pocket to ship the fish back and we weren't even sure they would be collected at the post office once they got there which was quite sad to think of, we got a partial refund which didn't even cover the mistakes they made with the excuse that they had to pay their employees to catch and bag the fish etc etc, when I think they should be paying to train their employees on what fish are what and honor their advertisements in regards to the size of what you're purchasing. My final issue with this company is a threat to which I was told to improve my tone and they would be happy to help, and proceeded to block me on facebook. My only purpose at this point is to try and stop other people from going through the same ordeal with these people and their fish. We had one good fish in the entire bunch that we THINK is the right fish and it was the one that was only in half water, that I was shocked was alive. It's really quite pretty and if all the fish they sent were like that (but in water) I wouldn't have had any issues and would have been giving more stars. I took multiple pictures of the fish, and the bags and the condition they were in and unfortunately some of the pictures were the last time they were seen :( RIP

Stay away from this online aquatic plants. I got scam and he would not admit to his incorrect posting of the plants. He shipped plant are vastly different than what was posted. After several email exchange he then proceed to correct his posting but refuse to refund the plants I purchased.

Every order we've had has been great! Seriously GREAT! Had some losses over the years here and there, but that's expected shipping an animal in the mail. They always give me store credit when I report them. Im a customer since the latter 90s. These are hard working american farmers that give their time to help me each time I call. I cant get my own insurance agent to call me back, but my fish people always help me! no helps anymore, but they do. They provide a mobile number on their site and basically give up their personal life to help hobbyists like me figure out m problems and they're always knowledgeable, kind and generous with their time. I've had numerous pond and aquarium issues over the years and always relied on their help and its consistently impressive. I have called late on a sunday and the owners have helped me resolve algae issues and fish health questions and even lighting questions. I see negative reviews for this place but between me, my other family members and friends that use Arizona Aquatic, we've all been very satisfied. I see bad reviews for Kohls, but I love Kohls! and people that are happy like me don't usually write "good" reviews because we're too busy with life being happy! Fish Farms like these are getting more scarce these days and that's why I took the time to express my sincere honesty about my experience. Good work guys! keep it up, keep on improving and thank you for always helping thru the years. Ill definitely be back!

I placed an order with this company based on the recommendations of a co-worker, and I won't make that mistake again. I did not receive my full order, and nothing was noted on my receipt that the item was backordered. I tried to contact them by phone for 4 days with no success. Finally got an email response when I threatened to dispute the charge with my credit card company, tho Pete never said when the item would be back in stock. After waiting a month and a half, I finally disputed the charge and am posting this review as a warning to others. Save yourself the hassle and shop elsewhere.

Ordered 8 tetras, received 5, no response after mult calls, no answer, emails, and texts, I paid for them, not received, received 3 DOA fish, again, no response, nothing, filled out the loss form immediately, included pictures in my text message because their loss form would not accept the pictures after mult tries. I even took a video opening the box to prove how they arrived just in case. I know how to attach pics so suspect something wrong with the form. I'm reporting to BBB, if they cannot warranty their product, provide the service they say they can, then why be in business? Very disappointing. Ordered tadpoles last year for my son's class with no issues. We purchased 2 angelfish in July. Upon arrival, we noticed both fish weren't what I had ordered and one was dead. Been sending messages, emails, and even facebook comments with no response. Was actually blocked from posting anything to their page sometime within the last 4 days. Don't do it. Granted the angel that did survive has been in my tank and doing well - nothing was right and their customer service is horrible. Find a different source.

I ordered fish 2 types frontosa and swordtails piad in full ahead of delivery.Frontosa were suppose to be large there ad said 2-3 inch when they came they were inch and 1/4 insize now mind you I paid premium price for larger fish and second the sword tails didn't arrive at all no call no explanation no time when they may be shipped nothing .After several emails and several phone calls over a weeks time .The owener finally calls back and because I was already upset and being sturn he took issue with my attitude .Makine excuses on how I got what I paid for and those fish were worth 32.99 each for 1 inch fish.ITHINK NOT!! So after calming down he advised me he would think on what to do and call me.I kept my mouth shut cause he had my money and I just wanted my fish.Now in his defense he offered to ship entire order over tome.I thought about it called him with counter offer since he already shipped 1 inch frontosa I thought not fair he ship entire oreder again.so my counter offer was send me 10 sword tails instead of 6 and send me 10 platy instead of the frontosa wich are much more expensive .This was in nov .first week of dec I get a box with ten platy but no sword tails.Again 3 -4 days maybe more to ahold of him .He says oh (by email mind you) I ate up your swordtails by shipping platy express service .Oh so 90$ to ship 10 platy .So disgusted with this company .and its now end of jan wont answer calls wont answer emils 2 weeks trying.THIS IS HORRIBLE COMPANY DONT DO BUSSINESS WITH THEM !!!!!Oh and the owner is a rude man that knows nothing about customer service.He never herd the words ,customer always write!!!Worst experience in ten years of dealing with online shipping of fish!!!

I have dealt with this place twice now both being negative and then since I am all about giving second chances, second time around extremely negative. First time fish did not look healthy. It took a good month or so to get them where they needed to be. Second time around my son young son grabbed my card while I was sleeping because he wanted to fill up his new fish tank like his father. I noticed the charge immediately the next day. I continued to call over and over, left multiple reply’s and even filled out the forms multiple times to get help. ABSOLUTELY zero response. So they finally pick up the phone a week later and he wants to charge a restocking fee, then proceeds to call me a bad father lol. Why am I paying this when I made over 6 attempts to stop payment? Here’s my problem. He said the fish have been pulled. How does that work? Are they sitting in bags until Weds and today is Monday? Are they just sitting in some random bucket? So I am paying a restocking fee for what? I speculate the ordered fish are still in the tanks and we are paying for nothing. The business needs to be shut down and the owners property confiscated by the local state government. It looks like after being chewed out by someone who works there I am finally getting a full refund. I will remove this once it hits my bank.

I ordered four red pigeon blood discus fish from AZ Gardens. I paid $124 (that includes shipping), thought I was getting a great deal. When they arrived three were dead and one was on its way. I contacted the company and sent photos of the dead fish still in the bags. I was very upset about the dead fish. The response was horrible! Very mean spirited and crooked. I demanded a refund from them ASAP. They told me that they only give store credit. I went on a trip and came back through Tucson AZ. I wanted to get my refund in person. Their address is a P.O. Box, no physical address. He refused to meet with me. I went 150 miles out of my way to go back through Tucson. I learned my lesson. Had I read the reviews on this company I would never had ordered from them.

I ordered a CO2 regulator from Peter and when it arrived it was defective. I e-mailed him to tell him and within an hour got a reply that he was sending a new one out to me. He didn't even ask me questions about what was wrong with it!! I got the new one within a couple of days, along with a return label for the defective one. I'm mystified by the negative reviews for Arizona Aquatic Gardens. I had a wonderful experience and would not hesitate to do business with him again. He made several suggestions for my planted tank that I will probably follow up on in the future. Thanks, Peter, for a good on-line shopping experience!!

I ordered over $100 worth of snails. I ordered a wide variety of them. While only 3 died on the way here I was in shock when I seen what they looked like. They were so ugly I couldn't even recognize what species they were. On their website they have pictures of beautiful snails. I have common sense to know that nothing looks like the picture but come on this is ridiculous. I contacted them explaining the situation. Pete's response was basically God made them that way. I told Pete that I will send him pic of the snails they sent and tell me if he would use them to advertise on his website. I told him he wouldn't and that I want a partial refund. I never heard back. So angry and disappointed (Update: I even sent the owner pictures and he won't even respond to my email at all) This is one of the snails I received. I don't even know what it is :(

I filled out their "Contact Us" in May with a question about setting up a new pond and never heard back. Contacted them again, same method, over 2 weeks ago with questions and wanting to purchase plants for the new 700 gallon pond that I set up in May, and then fish to stock it. Never heard back. I am not supposed to make calls during the work day from work so most of my "shopping" is done via e-mail. Obviously they don't want the business very bad. Will look elsewhere.

Do NOT purchase from Arizona Aquatic Gardens!!! I have placed 4 large orders at various times, each one costing around $150-$200 and each and everytime there was a mistake. They would either 'accidently' send me the wrong species of plant or what I believe was done with great intention; because they don't keep accurate listings of what they have in stock and would substitute my pick for something else. This would result in me trying to contact them to see if they would remedy the situation. You'll be lucky if Pete replies to a question you may have, prior to your purchase. But, if and when you try to contact them regarding a screwed up order you won't get any response. In my experience they never answer the phone and they have never replied or called me back regardless of the numerous messages and emails I left. The only reason I kept returning was for there large variety of plants and low prices, however, I should have known better. Not only have they cheated me out of my orders but on my third order I never recieved all of my order and didn't recieve any kind of credit for about $30 worth of plants. On my 4th order they did the same thing once again, however, with about $50 worth. They stated on my invoive that the remainder would be shipped at a later date, but it never came and for plants to be shipped safety due to me being located several states away it would need to be express delevery ensuring their survival; something I can assure you they wouldn't pay for. However, on my 4th order I contacted my credit card company and I was only charged for what I recieved. They are pure criminals. Do NOT buy from them. Look else where and pay more if you have to, it'll be worth it. Best, Grant

The quality of the ideals I received, they did a great job packing & I reacived my iteams with a week of my order so I defiantly recommend buying from Az Aquatic Gardens & I will definitely be Buying more stuff from them !
