Working with Al Davis cost me a lot of money and a lot of frustration. My wife and I worked with him for 3-4 years and we trusted him fully and heeded his advice. Without any warning, at 4:55pm on the Friday before Christmas (no joke) while my wife and I were in the midst of buying a house, Al sent an email stating that he would no longer be working with us. I asked for an explanation the following week and did not receive one. My mother had died less than one year prior and he had suggested that I indiscriminately sell all of my inherited stocks and bonds, and then he generically placed them all in money markets, saying that it was all basically the same thing. He encouraged me to sell my 2 rental properties, insisting that real estate is not a good bet. I very much regret those sales--not good financial moves. He was also in the process of setting up a monthly stipend that would direct deposited into my checking account. Now that I am working with a more reputable financial planner, I realize that my entire savings would've been depleted in some years since Al Davis did not take inflation into account nor market volatility. Ultimately, it is lucky for me that Al dropped me as a client. It felt horrible and stressful at the time.
