I have had positive experiences in dealing with Specialized IRA Services. When it came time to deploy my money in a real estate deal, I found the staff to be helpful in assisting me do things the right way. I appreciate the follow-up that occurs when I call to ensure I have all of my questions answered - even the ones I forgot to ask initially.

Absolute WORST experience !! Do NOT put your money in this companies hands. I have been trying to get my money transfered out for over 3 weeks talked to Ned he assured me the funds would be sent out NO later than 9/8 , it is 9/22 and my money is still sitting there !!!

I Love this company! I have used Specialized IRA for over 2 years mainly for Real Estate and Promissory Note Transactions. They have very, very good knowledge and outstanding customer service. If there is ever an issue, they follow up usually same-day and then have continued to make sure I'm happy. They have a great bedside manner and I truly feel as if they are looking out for me. All these companies have some fees to keep the lights on, don't trip over pennies. A+ Rating...

If I could give a 0 Star review, I would. After months of back and forth trying to get a refund, due to being laid off and not having $1752 to build an account that I dont have income to add to, am I left with over a $700 charge. Customer service would answer the phone eating food and never had an answer beside "your refund is in review". A month later was I only refunded roughly $1100 out of the total amount. Getting laid off was not in my business plan. Nor was I EVER informed I would be charged such an ungodly amount of money for the account in the first place. That's probably what bothers me the most.

Love this company - Danielle set us up and was so patient answering all our questions almost three years ago - she walked us through the process to roll over and convert our traditional IRA's set up both our Roth Accounts and our Granddaughters education fund. We purposely took a hit for taxes so we would have tax free income in retirement. They helped us seamlessly purchase four houses in our account. Fees are pretty reasonable and they pay our bills promptly and always verify everything by phone. BEST PART - no need to report any earnings on your tax returns !!!

Absolutely the worst company I have used thus far. They take no responsibilities for errors when they make them. Offer no apologies when they make errors but are happy to charge you fees for "servicing" your account. They don't seem to have the organizational skills required to handle large sums of investment funds.

A series of horrible experiences. The worst is that one of my goals was to set up a self-directed Roth IRA. The law requires having it for 5 years before withdrawals. So I transferred my money in to Specialized and set up a self-directed Roth IRA. I'd periodically ask a few questions and was told everything was OK. Finally, I got suspicious and pushed hard. Specialized acknowledged that while the IRA was set up, it had never been funded, so the clock hadn't started yet. Huh? Plus, its fees are much, much higher than any of its competitors--around $1,500 or more a year versus less than half that with other companies out there. They'd been taking the fees for years for an account that wasn't fully set up. Plus, I'd been thinking of setting up a brokerage account to invest some money in stocks or mutual funds. Well, THIS self-directed IRA doesn't have that capability. Plus, if you ask for any advice (within the limits of what such services can offer), there's only one guy there--let's call him Ed--who can provide it...if you sign up for a $14,000 program. Bottom line: Stay far away from Specialized IRA Services.
