We went to Hantz Group because we want help getting our financial affairs in order and under control. Hantz assigned a team to review all our finances and more. They handle our banking, our taxes, our investments, our retirement income, our estate planning and our insurance (home, auto, long-term care and umbrella). Our team had experts in each area who reviewed our status and made recommendations with numerous options which they took the time to explain thoroughly. After initial analysis and organizing, we now meet 3 or 4 times a year to review and revise if necessary. All this for a single annual price of $1200 is a real bargain. It really helped us to get all our ducks in a neat row. We are very pleased with the service. We are now confident of our finances and our lives are organized better than they have ever been. And we have much more time to enjoy the fun in life.

Awful organization. We paid $100 per month to get sold insurance. That was their main focus even after we told them that was low on or financial priority list. Their financial advice was underwhelming at best. They made many mistakes throughout the process. They were slow. They had to be reminded multiple times to complete tasks they promised to complete. Worst of all they botched up our taxes. After paying what they said were all of our taxes, we got a bill from the IRS for $1800 and one from the State of Michigan for $850. The letter said that the error was cause from a filing error. And we did not have a complicated return.

I agree with other low ratings, their main goal is to sell you life insurance. We went in there explicitly stating that we wanted to save for future goals and left with all these options for life insurance. It’s a complete rip-off. My in-laws went there also and they messed up some of their retirement investments, costing them thousands of dollars. We kept meeting with different people every time we went, it was a disaster. After a year of costing us money, not taking into consideration any of our goals, and poor service, we finally found a professional and competent financial advisor who listened to what we wanted.

Commercial agents are incredibly ruse to talk to, and have no interest in assisting anyone except themselves. Very clear they are working for a paycheck, and not actually making a difference for their clients. Highly recommend seeking options from a different agency.

If you'd like to be steered into a high-fee annuity that will grow at a fraction of the market, this is your place. My wife and I got hooked up with Hantz Group while we were purchasing auto insurance, and--young and dumb--we began investing in financial products recommended by Hantz. This was in 2009-10: the absolute bottom of the stock market. Had we just dropped our money into an index fund, we would have made a substantial return; instead, they guided us into hyper-conservative, high-fee annuity products that, during the annuity's five year term, barely grew at all. They told us the products were "best in class." What a joke. Skip Hantz. Just invest in index funds and leave the money alone.
