Watch out for their policy gotchas. I've gotten burned twice by them. One time a piece of mail from them was mistakenly returned from the post office and they froze my account. I was 1,000 miles from home at the time with no access to my credit card or checks from the account. They did it near the close of business on Friday so I couldn't correct the mistake until Monday. A simple phone call to me before the froze the account would have avoided the whole mess. Also, if you deposit more than $5,000, they won't give you access to it for almost a week. I learned that one the hard way.

This bank is A nightmare, it's the bank from hell & I got tricked into this bank. I signed up for a prepaid card w/PLS checking & now I'm a victim. This bank froze my money 3 months ago & haven't relinquished the funds. JUST IMAGINE WAKING UP TO PAY BILLS & YOUR MONEY IS FROZEN. YOU CAN'T PAY RENT, BILLS OR BUY FOOD & NOW YOUR ON THE VERGE OF BEING HOMELESS. REMOVE ALL FUNDS FROM THIS BANK. I've provided everything plus more for proof of income & they are still withholding my funds of 1k. I did not intentionally sign up with bancorp, they hide behind card companies such as PLS, chime & rush card. Do a simple Google search of "the bancorp bank scam" and u will see thousands of complaints of this bank stealing money from the working poor and making it almost impossible to get ur money. I've filled a complaint with both the FDIC & BBB. I hope a full investigation is opened into this bank on how they are misleading and hiding behind other brands. This is the worst experience I've ever had with any bank. If anyone sees "THE BANCORP BANK" RUN RUN RUN THESE PPL ARE EVIL & THIEVES. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, IT TOOK ME TWO MONTHS TO EVEN GET A RESPONSE FROM ONE OF THESE PPL ONLY AFTER I CONTACTED THE BBB & FDIC. On line scam without a doubt. They are taking our info and selling it to the highest bidder. They learn all of your info SS,mothers maiden name, answers to multiple choice questions, you name it. They pry into other actvities and pretend to be who you were trying to speak to. They call from numbers that when you call it back, it is verizon wireless and automatically, after you have just hung up, the number is said to be "disconnected, no longer in service, or changed". Has anyone ever known a wireless company to handle anything in five seconds or less????? Stay away from any of these cards, any of the payday loans and anything where noone will answer you questions and unfortunately, sound as if from overseas.

Still had to deal with them after Perkstreet skipped town. They seem to have a crummy system. Trying to close my account, their customer service rep. said she was going to do it. Several days later I get a call saying they can't close my account. More hoops to jump through.

Can't get worse than this. I called in for an account balance only to have the rep answer the phone with "you can check your balance online or through our automated system." Well, I already tried your website and the automated system- your website just gave me error messages and the automated system forwarded me to you when I said "account balance." And then, of course they couldn't give me an account balance, I needed to call another number, but they wouldn't tell me why. DON'T USE THIS BANK!!!

I ONLY use this bank because it is automatically linked to my compensation card. After my last experience I will be having my money direct deposited into my other bank account and will be no longer using the compensation card. This company does not care to help their clients, will give you the run around about how to fix a mistake, and STILL not get results. I ordered an item online on 5/9 from an online website, I was double charged with a "ghost charge". The company worked with me to get my refund but since it was a ghost charge it did not show on their end and they could not drop the double charge, the bank needed to. I called the bank everyday trying to get the charge dropped. They told me they needed the company to send over a fax to show proof this charge was by mistake. The company faxed the proof to them THREE times and the charge was still not dropped by the bank. It was a nightmare as I needed that money to feed my family and even when I followed all the steps for an early release on the ghost charge I STILL ended up having to wait the normal time amount. I JUST got my money back in my account today, 5/18. This bank has TERRIBLE customer service and I am very disappointed in them.

This is a scam company, beware, they dispute transactions on your pre-paid card on your behalf, yet never make you aware of it. the dispute comes through as no remedy, so i can't even fight it. So, for example a customer spends $20, they toss their pre-paid card, this scam bank disputes and gets the $20 back...

Had an HSA account here until we had need to try and close the account and open another account number (our checkbook was stolen). By far and without exaggeration, THE WORST customer service ever. I could go on with a littany of examples (not the least of which is that they have a "bank policy" that it takes 14-20 business days to do so!) but just trust the reviews here. Avoid this "bank" at all costs.

I am writing this review because I spoke with a Rapid representative and they were very unhelpful and when I explained my situation regarding my card all they could say was there is nothing they could do not caring to the situation for the reason I need there help. I accidently deactivated my card from my employer before I received my new card and now I do not have access to my funds on my card due to having to wait 10 business days for the new card. I just simply asked them to please re-activate my old card until my new one arrive and they refuse to do so. I was told to go to my employer for a new card, what was so difficult about reactivating my card knowing I do not have access to my new card or my money I worked hard for I think there service is bad.

Then about 2 years ago they started charging $2.50 for not having something like a $10k balance and $1.25 for paper statements every month. I have had to call numerous times about various issues and their staff never gets things right the first time. THE WORST BANKING EXPERIENCE I HAVE ENCOUNTERED. Not Poor - Fair, it should be Poor - Poor.

I am very surprised to see all of the negative reviews! I did not actually sign up with Bancorp but rather it was the company which was used for a different private label bank. When that bank went bust I was automatically transferred over to Bancorp. I can't say that I have had any trouble with them. I have called their customer service and they have been great! No issues here.

Terrible. This is the same report as so many other reviewers. I assumed that since The Approved Card had Suze Orman's name on it, it would be reputable. Nope. It has frozen my account with *my* money in it and has given a set of hoops through which I jumped and still nothing. I have made complaints with my state's AG, DE AG, and FDIC.

If I could erase the Fair in the rating I would because I rate them as POOR I purchased a prepaid Visa for my little girl so she could purchase some things online with her birthday money and just tried to load her allowance and Guess What? Way on the back of the card at the top, above the magnetic strip (WHICH YOU CAN NOT SEE UNTIL YOU PURCHASE THE CARD AND REMOVE THE CARDBOARD IT IS ATTACHED TO!!!!!!!!), it says non-reloadable in font smaller than what I am typing right now. Myself and countless of others are sick and tired of being tricked, "pennied and dimed," and scammed by companies like this. So they really expect me to go purchase another one of their visa cards so they can make more money off of me, (some gift!) ugh.....I don't think so. I will Never buy another "Vanilla gift" visa debit card or do business with this company EVER!

This has been the WORST customer service experience EVER. I received notice of an open IRA and sent in all the paper work to have my funds transferred and after 25 business days, the account is still open and the customer service team is giving me the run around. I have yet to receive my funds or a proper explanation as to why the task has not been completed. This is the worst company I have EVER dealt with.

Worst customer service bar none. Painful to do business with this company. You can never talk to anyone that knows anything. We still have funds on deposit that we can not access. What is even worse, they continue to process the automatic deposits so the unaccessible balance with them continues to grow. Stay away from this as well as the associated Approved Card. Same on Suze Orman for selecting this group.

this bank is guilty of deceptive trade practices- cancelled all debit card accounts without prior written notice to the customers so they can keep the customers remaining balance of twenty five dollars or less. When they tell you they sent notice by regular mail, know regular mail does not hold water in court, nor is regular mail proof of mailing, not how the postal system or the courts roll. I expect a collective lawsuit on this one, in addition to my personal lawsuit

Update - I found an email address for somebody in the Delaware headquarters. I sent him a very lengthy complaint letter outlining the entire disaster I had been going through to get my money back from them. I received a reply back saying that he would look into the situation. That didn't sound very promising, but I did receive the check within 5 days of getting his reply. I'm glad the situation is over, but I'm leaving this 1 star review. I hope this helps others in the same situation! RUN AWAY from this place! A previous employer (without letting me know) rolled over my IRA to this company. I quickly faxed over the form to get my funds back from this company. I called them after waiting for 24 business days (processing/mailing time) to find out about the status of my account. I was informed that they had my paperwork, but nobody had started on it yet. Calling their toll free number is a PITA! It is definitely overseas. It is hard to understand what they are saying. And the phone line has constant static and continually cuts out. This company has the WORSE service ever!

Worst customer service ever. Went on a cruise on 3/3/19 used card on file for on-board account. Paid bill at end of cruise , now three weeks later they still show pending charge of over $1400 on my account that will not go away. I have called merchant and the merchant offered to fax info on charge but Bancorp said they did not need it. It has now been a month since the cruise and after 6 calls to customer service they still can not release my $1400 dollars that I need for my bills. This is not a credit card this is a debit card that has my money on it. Every time I call they say I will have an update in 3-5 days. I never get any updates I just get told to wait another 3-5 days for another update. Why wont the give me MY MONEY?

Because I can’t rate CHIME online banking directly my review is going directly to the bank they bank with. I DO NOT recommend banking with these people CHIME or the bank itself. They screw up and then don’t have a legit answer for you and make you look like the crazy one they were very rude about the situation never mind the supervisor very UNPROFESSIONAL customer service the reason why I am closing my account as well as a few others. I purchased a myvanilla debit card to keep my fiances in check and using it is just a nightmare. The company could care less about it's customers. I spoke to a rep (Pat) and she told me to purchase a new card when I informed them I couldn't put money on my temporary card account. She said it was due to having the permanent card sent in the mail, which I still haven't received yet. I asked is that policy to freeze the temp card until the new one arrives, she said "no there is no reason for it and it's not regular practice". I ask her to unfreeze it and let me use the card since I still have funds on the card now. She told me to purchase another card because the computer won't let her unfreeze it. That was the 3rd incident in 3 months since I purchased the card. I never received the permanent one that was suppose to be sent in 7-10 days after initial purchase. They always have an excuse.
