My experiences with Trust Company failed to meet even minimal expectations. When it was discovered the company had been sending incorrect (IRS) reporting (multiple years) it not only precipitated a tax consequence, but also re-filing fees. The aforementioned mistakes certainly must have Impacted many participants...All attempts to communicate with the company - inclusive of legal representation - (to find possible resolution) were met with disrespect and even non-response from the C level. A very tough experience that lacked any semblance of “customer service” or accountability.

Easier to work with than Charles Schwab as a custodian, very responsive

THEIR INVESTMENT STRATEGY GAVE ME A NEGATIVE VALUE AFTER 10 YEARS

During the 40 years of practicing dentistry and using several different Self Directed 401k custodians, I have never had to pay 1% of my assets when moving to a different custodian. Luckily, Charles Schwab has stepped in to defray this gouge.

If you live in the Denver area, please do yourself a favor and do not ever apply to Trust Company of America. They will try to ruin your life. Management there except for a couple of female managers are horrible. DC is the manager that does nothing all day and god forbid that you ask him to help you, he won't. The manager will promise you training but choose to hang out with his friends instead of help you learn your jobb, like he is supposed to. He will just walk around and talk to his friends and joke around with them. Many people in the company know this and see this but why does someone like this have a job when someone like me worked so hard to teach themselves a job that the employer was supposed to teach me? I received no help but I lasted 5 and 1/2 months, a miracle. Now they say that I sent empty e-mails to our clients? How would I have lasted 1 day if I did that? Yet, without 1 verbal or written warning, the manager tells me that he doesn't like me and walks me to HR and HR tells me that I am being fired? Hmm, no training, was told that I would receive training, received the bare minimum and was told to leave. Fired without any reason or warning. Please beware of this company and of this manager (DC) who does nothing but joke around with his friends all day, or joke around with the people that will talk sports with him all day. I would give no stars but it will not allow me to post this comment. Do yourself a favor, look elsewhere for employment, unless you are one of the lucky ones to get into the "good guys" club and befriend a manager.

I was surprised to get a letter from Trust Company this week about my account with them. I do not have an account with them. My previous employer yanked all 401k accounts asap after I discovered they were sending us incorrect reports for five years which in turn impacted five years worth of tax returns for some of our employees. After this was pointed out, they admitted they forgot to incorporate a change in IRS requirements at a company-wide level impacting many customers, including their own internal employees. Their resolution to this discovery was to offer to pay for tax returns to be redone although they did not uphold that promise. The cost to some was over $10,000 in back taxes. TRUST is the last word I would use to describe this company. I would caution anyone with a fiduciary duty to stay away.

We used Trust Company of America as our Custodian for 3 of our Third Party Money managers

Very responsive, easy to work with. I've had an excellent experience with TCA for the last few years.
