I was the groom of a wedding were Emily helped plan the day of. This review is really easy to type, as she was amazing. Emily was very responsive always setup the proper amount of meetings with us as well as our vendors to make sure we were on the same page. Emily was very efficient and very thorough. On our wedding day we had nothing to worry about. She made sure the timing was excellent and if we had any problems during the wedding I had no idea as everything was executed flawlessly. My only problem is that I wished I had paid to have her plan the entire wedding and not just the day of. Emily took a nerve racking day and made it a walk in the park with my best friend.

Emily is a total pro! Hiring her was one of the best (the best?) decisions we made in our wedding planning process. She asked the right questions, assured us that we had thought of what we needed for the day, and is very easygoing while also detail-oriented. She was also very nonjudgmental about some of our off-beat choices and I never felt like she was pushing us to spend time or money on aspects that weren't important to us. We were so appreciative of her calm expertise and support throughout the planning process and especially on the day of the wedding. We both fully enjoyed the day and knew any hiccups or confusions were being expertly handled. My husband's mom was particularly impressed by her demeanor and kindness, as she said she had encountered some pushy wedding planners at other weddings. We are so grateful for Emily, her team, and the work they did to make our wedding day a breeze for us.

Emily is an incredible professional, and was indispensable for our weird little backyard wedding last June. We hired Emily for our day-of coordinator. We knew we wanted a nontraditional wedding, and Emily was always game for our ideas, and came through with excellent recommendations of vendors for the reception (even an awesome karaoke deejay!). Emily Katherine Events wasn't the first planner I contacted but she and her team certainly turned out to be beyond amazing. We had a completely nerd wedding/reception (Star Wars, video games, pizza), and she accommodated all of our wants and added her own personal ideas to make everything more awesome than we could have dreamed. Things just got done--we only had to ask, and sometimes we didn't even have to. The wedding day was stress free and smooth and allowed us to relax and enjoy each other and our guests and family. Having known her for years before I asked her to help with my wedding, I knew about her work ethic, level of organization, and attention to detail when I decided to hire her. Early on in the process, she gave great insight on what to look for in wedding vendors and helped my vision come to life. When I told her what we wanted for our ceremony and how we needed to schedule our day in order to get the most out of our vendors and their time constraints, she helped come up with a timeline that was instrumental in everything going as smoothly as it did. She reached out to all of my other vendors so that everyone was on the same page, and made sure that our ceremony and reception spaces were decorated more beautifully than I could've imagined. She really tailors every detail to what her clients want and will go above and beyond to make sure your wedding goes smoothly and on time. If I could give Emily 6 stars I would! We hired her as a day-of-coordinator for our wedding. From the first time I contacted her, she was super responsive and always quick to answer any questions I had. She was calm, professional, and so easy to work with. And she does so much more than just coordinate the day-of. She made the month leading up to the wedding stress free and took so much of the burden away helping develop the day-of timeline, coordinating with the vendors. And her connections, especially to the fantastic waitstaff team, were awesome! Our wedding was so wonderful, and we definitely could not have pulled it off without her. I can't recommend her enough!

We were married in fall 2017 with a ceremony at Duke Chapel and reception at the Nasher Museum of Art. We hired Emily as our wedding planner about 4 weeks prior to our wedding, after a bad experience with our first wedding planner (who fought us over every little detail, spoke down to us when we pushed back on her ideas, and generally impeded the process). Firing our first wedding planner and hiring Emily was the BEST decision we made during the planning process. From the first moment, we felt completely comfortable and confident that Emily was listening to our vision and would do everything within her power to execute it. She took notes while we talked, asked clarifying questions, and dispensed helpful advice and suggestions. She used her extensive network of contacts to fill out remaining spots on our vendor list with amazing vendors in our price range. She did not push us to spend more than we had budgeted nor did she hesitate in helping us execute unconventional ideas (though, if you ask, she will be glad to advise on what is customary). She went above and beyond for us – running errands while we were at work, creating signs for around the reception, making phone calls and doing research, managing vendors, tracking down last minute vendors, buying all of the little things we didn’t think of (like a garter and guest book!), and even attending my last wedding dress fitting to learn how to bustle my dress. She is extremely organized, practical, hardworking, and, above all else, excellent at problem-solving. Trusting Emily with our wedding greatly reduced our stress and increased our enjoyment of the month leading up to the event. Also, as a bride, she was my rock on my wedding day—she was always within reach to calm my nerves and help me with whatever I needed. We recommend Emily without hesitation. She is worth every penny. Our only regret is that we did not hire her 6 months sooner!

The best decision I made in the wedding planning process was working with Emily Thomas and the Emily Katherine Events team! I was not super into details when it came to my wedding, and basically just wanted to show up on the big day and have a good time, and Emily made it happen. She recommended and helped choose every single vendor we used, made my high-level vision of decor come to life, and was SO helpful in ensuring we stuck to the wedding budget. I barely had to speak to a vendor or attend a meeting because she pretty much took care of all of it, but was also so communicative with me throughout the entire process--she is the most responsive person I've ever worked with in a professional setting. Most importantly, Emily is exceedingly calm and so, so nice. Anytime I started to panic about wedding day details, she instantly put me (and my mom) at ease. When last-minute, unexpected construction at our church threatened to ruin the big day, she calmly worked with all vendors to make sure they could conveniently access the site, and also very sweetly reminded me what was most important--that I got to marry the love of my life on a gorgeous day supported by family and friends. I HIGHLY recommend Emily Katherine Events! Emily and her team made my wedding day absolutely perfect.

From the first time we met with Emily, it was just such a comfortable fit. She was so down to earth and fully attentive to us every time we spoke. We chose the full service package due to our busy schedules which ended up being a great value for how much Emily and her team helped us. Emily was hands off when we had things covered and completely on top of everything when we didn't. She rolled easily with any change we made and helped guide the vision we had but didn't know how to execute. Emily has made so many positive relationships with other vendors and did an amazing job presenting us with multiple great options to choose from for every service we needed. When I saw everything finalized, it was better then I could have ever imagined. Hiring Emily was absolutely one of the best decisions we made for the wedding. Emily helped my daughter and me plan and carry out her wedding in our backyard in Apex. We had already scouted a few vendors before we met Emily, but she made wonderful suggestions for the rest. Her help with the rehearsal and the day-of coordination was invaluable. I was able to enjoy the morning preparation with my daughter and her friends, while Emily worked with the florist, caterer, DJ, photographer, and more! She got the bride, groom, attendants, my husband, and me to the ceremony on time and whisked everyone to the reception. Little details got handled without a thought from me. While I would describe myself as organized, a planner, and someone who had helped with wedding planning in the past, I would not have been nearly as happy with my own wedding with out the help of Emily at Emily Katherine Events. Emily helped my husband and I every step of the way. She showed us a variety of wedding venues, connected us with amazing vendors, and helped me plan details such as rental delivery, cleanup after the wedding reception, and flower re-purposing that I would never have even considered. Emily is also a delight to work with. She has a calm and easy-going presence but is meticulously organized and will not miss a single detail. I would also describe myself as a worrier, but I did not have any concerns the day of our wedding. We had 210 guests, mostly from out of town, and she flawlessly executed transportation, all vendor deliveries, every detail of the ceremony, and even was able to modify the reception timeline as needed during the reception to best accommodate my husband and me. I could not have been happier with how our wedding went, and best of all, I and my family were able to feel as if we were guests at our own wedding.

My wife and I were recently married on the North Carolina Coast. Being new to the whole getting married thing, we were excited but also had tons of questions. Emily had all the answers to those questions and even brought up things we had not yet thought about in her planning sessions with us. Going in with a plan helped us to put a lot of trust in her and we were able to relax more on our special day. We enjoyed working with her as did our family, friends and other vendors who she also helped to direct over the course of the evening.
