Revised Review. Original review below for completeness, but I will say that a manager called me about my review and was beyond lovely in trying to explain the issues I encountered and to make up for it. And the food was beautiful and everyone talked about how good it was. So I'm very happy to report that after an initial major disappointment, I was very pleased with the overall outcome. I really hope they hire some new people to assist with order taking during busy seasons, as I'd hate for others to be turned off like I originally was.
Uh. Wow. I'm hosting a party and was enticed by their catering website and figured I'd give them a try over my usual catering place. I'm not an overly needy person, and while my budget was only $1200, I still expect a basic amount of service. I called a week ago to place the order, and asked if it was possible to deliver to Brooklyn (not deep into Brooklyn, just over the Manhattan bridge). The woman acted like I had asked her to travel to Iowa. "Uh! No! We wouldn't even CONSIDER going there for less than $6,000". Okay... fine. I'll pick up. Not a big deal, but her TONE of disgust... The rest of the call involved her sighing heavily and acting like I was causing her a major inconvenience by simply ordering some trays of catering items. She never gave me the total, and I was so shocked at how I was being treated that I was just in a hurry to get off the phone.
Fast forward to this morning, when I called up to ask if I could make a slight modification to my order (I wanted to add a tray of desserts). The woman who answered said "you have to call back. I'm too busy to talk to you". Really? Okay. Thanks but no thanks. I won't be giving you any more money.
Of all the business events I've hosted, I've never been treated so badly by a catering department and if it wasn't so close to the event and during a busy holiday time, I would cancel the order all together. It's a shame, I can't even remark on the quality of food because the taste in my mouth is so bad.
