Not a day goes by that we don't remark how absolutely wonderful, fun, perfect, and smooth our special day was! None of it would have been possible without Jyl. Jyl made our day and our overall wedding experience incredibly blissful. Planning a 140+ person wedding at a private residence in the midst of the location (Nantucket) being 32 miles out to sea, could not have been an easy task. Jyl served as equal parts visionary, designer, project manager, and friend. Her ability to translate our ideas and wishes into a vision was endlessly impressive and her continual excitement regarding all things important to us reaffirmed our decision to hire her as a planner time and time again. Her ability to break down the daunting task of planning a wedding into bite-sized pieces made the whole process that much more fun, enjoyable, and meaningful. Jyl was nothing but understanding and patient with our busy schedules, as well as providing gentle reminders when we fell radio silent, she kept us on track and always moving forward. Jyl became so much a part of our lives and cared so much for us that we knew she would do everything to make our day special and meaningful - which she absolutely did! Before hiring Jyl, stereotypically, I feared the wedding day would be filled with phone calls, texts and inevitable interruptions - not a phone call or text the entire wedding! I would recommend Jyl and Deering Events to anyone who wants a professional and personally designed wedding. The wedding felt like it was custom made for us in the most wonderful and expertly executed way possible - which was the greatest gift Jyl could have given us. Thank you for everything, Jyl.

You won't go wrong with hiring Jyl for your wedding! I nearly did not hire a day-of coordinator but I am so glad we hired Jyl and her team! She was definitely the most valuable vendor of the day and is the reason that my family remarked several times how impressed they were at how smoothly the day unfolded. Having Jyl around allowed both of us (bride and groom) to relax and happily enjoy the day. I am also grateful that our immediate family members who traveled from afar could also relax and enjoy the day. From my first interview with Jyl, I was impressed with her professional yet warm personality. I interviewed a range of coordinators in terms of price and found Jyl to be the most impressive in terms of her experience and her demeanor. I chose Jyl because she seemed to be the most capable and organized person who would be detail oriented and reliable and she totally delivered! She is friendly yet keeps all discussions on point and efficient, which I really appreciated when I was short on time between wedding planning and work. I really appreciate that she helped with a thorough timeline even prior to the wedding. On the actual day, she remained very organized and was a calming presence. She managed a complicated day-of schedule that included a chapel, reception venue which required decorations, shuttle, over 100 guests, a wedding party of 10 adults, and all in 99F weather with a smile on her face! We would recommend Jyl to anyone getting married in a heartbeat!

Jyl is absolutely amazing; five stars isn’t enough. When I decided I was going to hire a wedding planner for our special day, I wasn’t exactly sure what I was looking for. I had never been married and this was all new to me! I spoke to a few planners, and from the moment Jyl and I started talking I knew that she was the one! She is easy to talk to, listens to your ideas and also offers the BEST advice. She was there every step of the way; from my 7am frantic text messages, to the food tasting, to the the three encores at the end of our wedding. When I decided to get married in the Cape, a place I had never visited before I knew I would need some help. I found Jyl and loved the fact that she was from North Carolina so I reached out. From our first conversation I knew she would be the perfect person to assist with our big day; she was easy going, organized and had all the connections in the Cape. Throughout the process she made sure I was on track with planning, reached out and communicated details to vendors for me, and even accepted packages for my wedding so I wouldn't have to worry about traveling with items or shipping from Florida last minute. I tend to be quite rambling so if you don't make it through this entire review- the punch line is that Jyl is absolutely incredible and I couldn't recommend her more highly. She was SO incredibly responsive, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her work. Early in my engagement I realized that it truly takes a village to organize and orchestrate a Cape Cod wedding weekend- however, I felt very strongly that on the day of the wedding, I wanted both my own and my now husband's families to feel like guests themselves rather than on duty to execute details and manage every logistical issue. Jyl and her team's day of assistance made this possible, and we are so so thrilled that we had them there at every turn throughout the wedding weekend. Every time Jyl and I spoke before the wedding (which was quite a bit back and forth over a year for her only being our "day of" coordinator) I felt like I was the only bride she was working with! Her knowledge of the industry and logistics of how to make things happen is so outstanding and she often brought up things I hadn't even realized I needed to think about . Her kindness and enthusiasm was the cherry on top of her killer organization and attention to detail. My mom and husband (initial skeptics of the necessity of a planner/coordinator) have continuously chorused that Jyl was the literally the best money we spent on anything wedding related.

Our daughter trusted Jyl to make sure the timeline she created for her wedding day went off as planned. Little did we know that would be the easy part! Two days before the wedding the hair and make up company only confirmed 2 instead of 4 people, unless we wanted to start at 5:30 a.m. on wedding day. She is extremely professional, beyond well organized, prompt, and everything you need even if you don't know it yet. Without her, our wedding would not have happened let alone being the incredibly epic event that it was. Jyl literally saved us from ourselves and basically planned everything despite our best intentions and effort to get in her way and try to do it on our own. We never felt pressured from her though, she was always quick to respond to our questions and meltdowns and she knew right when to nudge us along to make sure everything went off without a hitch. Megan Herman was the wedding planner for our daughter's wedding in Gloucester last month. As a Professional Organizer myself, my friends could not understand why I needed a wedding planner. However I knew that without someone else taking care of the details I would not relax and enjoy the day and our guests. From months out when we first met right up to the day of the wedding, Megan took care of everything. She asked all the right questions, giving recommendations, as appropriate; did not judge our decisions, some of which stemmed from different cultural backgrounds; liaised with the vendors both before and during the wedding; and produced the most incredibly detailed timeline to keep everything on track. But most of all, she worked SO HARD the entire wedding day. I totally relaxed knowing she had taken care of everything and then some. She was a true delight and I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Booking Jyl as our day of coordinator was one of the best decisions we made! Our ceremony and reception were in two different locations, not to mention that we had to bring in all of our own vendors! Jyl made such a daunting task manageable. There was not one point in the day I felt anxious or uncertain as Jyl had already taken care of it. She was always one step ahead! Jyl did everything from help set up the venue, checking on the groomsmen, to breaking stuff down after. She did so much that I felt like she was more than a "day of coordinator". If you are on the fence about booking, do it so you can enjoy your day!
