An absolutely beautiful venue. Perfect for the size and feel of the semi-formal wedding we attended. The catering by Thomas Caterers was very memorable delicious and the layout was wonderful to be able to have the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing all atone location with plenty of parking. The staff was exceedingly helpful and very professional.

My cousin had her wedding venue here. Beautiful, indoors is very clean well put together. Silly complaint but I'm somewhat of a germaphobe, there needs to be at least a trash can in one area for when appetizers were getting served around and we end up with holding our trash then handing our trash to the servers was just unsanitary in my opnion.

Was there for son / daughter-in-laws wedding Was a wonderful experience all around till we found out later some of the bags left in the dressing room had been gone thru and some items taken out ! That’s the reasoning behind not a five star rating. If it’s a personal bag it should have been left alone !!!

Thomas Caterers of Distinction took this venue and completed some renovation magic. It is a beautiful venue on the North side of Indianapolis that makes you feel like you have gone to a different destination. The grounds are lovely for an outdoor ceremony, and they keep making amazing updates all around. It is a special place...and your guests will dine with one of the finest caterers!!!

They did a wonderful job with my son and daughter-in-Law’s wedding and reception. The only negative part that I saw was that the girls were not allowed to be there early enough to get their hair and makeup done at the venue. We ended up doing it at my house, which was fine, but then everyone was rushing to get to the venue for pictures. Allowing them in at 9 am, like most other venues, would have made the experience perfect.

My daughters wedding was at the Black Iris. We worked with Emily who was totally fun and awesome! The wedding was outdoors and Reception inside. It was a perfect and beautiful venue. We have had so many positive compliments on the grounds, organization, facility, and dinner.

Horrible experience with Thomas Caterers of Distinction. We were sold an experience and level of service that was never delivered. First, let's begin with the sales pitch. During the sales pitch, they only used a tablet and never gave us any written sales documents. Now I see why - because it was all smoke and mirrors to get your money. We were told that a "wedding planner" would walk us through every step of the process and even their own website (on the home page) reads: "Planning Enjoy a Positive planning experience with our team of professionals who will guide you through every step". First, we booked in October and plan to wed on September 15th. After taking our deposit, we never heard from a "planner" or "Even Designer" as they call it for the rest of the year. We had to reach out to them on December 27th and ask to be contacted. The "event designer" emailed back the next day asking when we would like to meet in APRIL. By her own admission in a subsequent email on January 28th, the first "design" meeting should happen six months prior, yet she was trying to schedule us in April - 5 months out. Her email read: "Design & Planning (6 months prior) Lets Dive in! At this first meeting held at our corporate office 4440 N Keystone Ave; we will discuss floorplan, linens, timeline & vendors. It is a best practice to have a conversation at least 2 weeks prior to this meeting to discuss wedding colors, theme, etc. so I can have sample linens and décor options ordered in to show you." This "conversation" two weeks prior never took place either. When I confronted the owner Vince Early about our issues and dissatisfaction, he flatly refused to refund our $4000 deposit on a wedding that was going to cost at a minimum $34,781.89, but in all reality would have cost over $40,000 because our guest list exceeded their minimum of 135. We simply wanted a refund and it didn't happen. Take your hard earned money elsewhere. They do not deliver as promised.
