We had a wedding at the Counting House on February 23rd 2019. It was absolutely amazing! The food was delicious. The staff was friendly and fun!. Miguel did a wonderful job coordinating everything. Garth did a great job getting us set up with rooms for some of our guest. The rooms are just lovely!! William Clifton, the chef shucked oysters as well as preparing an amazing meal. It was a perfect wedding!!! Thank you Linda and TJ Johnson
Food not that great. I ordered a BLT and it came without toast, when I asked for toast they said they didn't have a toaster in their kitchen. What restaurant doesn't have a toaster?? Food is overpriced for what you get.
The Mother's Day brunch was fantastic! The buffets were loaded with all the usual brunch suspects. All were delicious, but my plate was full of small portions of everything BEFORE we got to the room where they had a beautiful lay out of different kinds of seafood! All of the food was amazing! And service was its usual friendly, attentive self. I can't imagine another restaurants in the area having a better Mother's Day brunch! They may have been as good, but not better. So glad we made the choice of The Counting House for Mother's Day. We enjoyed everything immensely!
Great food! Friendly bartender!
So cute. Delicious salad
Hot beer, cold prime rib, burnt biscuits you have to pay for, limited menu. Won't be back.
Oct 5th 20189 @ 5:30. Had a great time on the rooftop listening to The Mathew Street Band. Food was very good, and cocktails were very tasty. We will be back for sure.
Great for fun atmosphere
Went Tuesday with three friends (including a small child). Decided on the sweet tea glazed pork (cooked to perfection!) with cheesy grits and peach salad and a Chardonnay. We dined in the charming front room - the room felt lively but not crowded. Our server April was attentive and friendly and told us fascinating stories about the building that houses the restaurant and the inn next door (it’s over 100 years old!) and the historical role Georgetown played during the Civil War. A friend ordered the crab cakes - I have my eye on those for the next visit!
My wife and I loved our lunch there. Quiet upscale atmosphere with fantastic food and drinks.
Not a very good lunch. Portions small and overall experience uninspiring. Waiter was not very interested in his job.
Thanksgiving dinner was delicious! All the traditional dishes and more!
I have always made a reservation and have never had a problem with the staff and or the food. It's a great place to dine. Great staff and food, The Brick Restaurant & Tavern comes highly recommended.
Too expensive, too dark. It seems the same as the Brick. I thought they were going to have nightly specials at affordable prices along side their regular menu.
My favorite restaurant. There food is different and great tasting. I wish I could explain more but you have to just go there to see what I am talking about
My husband and I had our weddinng At The Counting House and Brick Hotel on 10.20.2018. We couldn’t have asked for a better day. The staff was on top of everything. Garth was always there to help and even helped hand out welcome bags to all of our quest as soon as they checked into their room. Kelly helped me from day one. I emailed her very often with many questions and she was so quick to respond and answer everything and give me advice. The owner Miguel was outstanding! He made sure to check in on us, ask if we needed anything and he even delivered lunch to me and my bridesmaids while we were getting ready. Chef Bill makes the most delicious food. Everything came out hot and was plated very well. All of the staff at the counting house did an outstanding job. We couldn’t have asked for a better day and we want to thank them all for helping make sure our day was perfect.
I've only been here a few times for lunch. It is quite relaxed, it almost feels like you are dining in an in antebellum mansion. The food and service are solid. The only tip is look closely at the symbols on the restroom doors so you don't inadvertently step into the wrong one and have an unexpected encounter.
This beautiful historical building is a great restaurant and pub. The food, drinks and staff are fantastic!!!! I wish I lived closer. I would probably never cook again!!!
Went there for dinner Tuesday night with my mom, toddler, and friend visiting. The food was great, and our server (April) was really good with my toddler and told us about the ghosts that live in the hotel. Especially recommend the crab cakes!
Great food. Great servers. Love going in the off-season.
If you’re going to plan a wedding here MAKE SURE THERE IS NOT ANOTHER ONE THAT DAY!!! AND no other events that day/night! You’ll be rushed like crazy! And the ones that should be there EARLY to help with directions/ some kind of help won’t show up until later and then again it’s rush rush rush. Smh. When I look back on things it actually makes me mad I had a 2pm-5pm wedding and about 40 guests. The wedding after was about 75 guests and evidently that was the most important to accommodate and take care of. More money I guess but more problems I’m sure.
Friendly services, the food, meh..
This place has an excellent brunch menu! The staff was friendly. Overall, we had a great experience. I’m glad we went after having heard so many good things. We will be going back as soon as we get the chance!
New owner is only honoring gift cards purchased before 8/1/18 at 50 percent of face value. Only notice is a sign the size of a post card by the entrance.
The filet mignon was excellent. Our anniversary dinner.
Great food and atmosphere!
great salmon with the perfect dill sauce. atmosphere is genteel. nice break on the middle of the day. Love it.
went for an afternoon Tea. Wonderful experience. Vey attentive staff. Nice variety of sweets, finger sandwiches and teas. The finger sandwiches were a little dry, but nice taste. Would definitely go again.
OMG! Can I tell you how much I not only loved the staff, but the food was fantastic! Our son graduated Wednesday so we needed a nice restaurant for our family to enjoy.. Wow! It was simply amazing. My husband and I plan on making this a regular trip (after beach season) .. Thank you so much .. we highly recommend your establishment!
Delicious food served at the bar with a couple local brews on tap. Lindsey is a great bartender and can hold a decent convo
Good food, comfortable environment. All good.
Food was.... Ok. ! Very basic crab cake and fish. Nice place with history but really not a 4stars
Great professionally renovated space. Not so great food. Beer battered white fish was thick crunchy styrofoam with hardly any fish inside. Person waiting on us us warned of the old bay fries. Did not recommend the coleslaw because it was a day old and runny. The owner needs to go thru the menu to see if they would actually eat their items.
This place was an amazing place to have our wedding. We had originally booked under The Brick Hotel & Tavern so there was a little bit of panic with the change in ownership but Chef Bill, Migule, and Kelly put our minds at ease and went above and beyond to make our day amazing. The food was so good and Chef Bill made sure we got everything and more to honor our original contract. The whole staff for our wedding was so accommodating and attentive through out the whole evening. Kelly was great to keep all of our events on track and made sure there was nothing we needed to do day of. Our wedding day truly was above and beyond our expectations. Thank you so much to the whole team for making our wedding day one we will never forget. -Kelsey & Sean
Great
What a an amazing spot! Historical building and feel but very clean and elegantly done on the inside. Staff was friendly and attentive. Bartender Ryan is fantastic if you just want to sit at the bar. I would recommend this place to anyone that will be in the area to stay or even if just passing through.
The barmaid was polite and seem genuinely interested in serving everyone. I highly recommend this place. I however am a meat and potato guys and the bar scene I used to is NYC. But if you are looking for a sophisticated scene, this is your place. Come see Debbie and have a 16 Mile 1787 you thank me.
There’s nothing better than a woven tapestry of fresh flavours set in a comfortable home atmosphere. Try the chicken and oysters, it’s outstanding. Everyone was friendly and it made for a wonderfully relaxing afternoon
Amazing food!! We had the Halibut special, crabcakes, jambalaya, deviled egg special of the day and calamari. They were all equally delicious. Can't wait to go back there.
Beautiful view Historic
Great location, food, and service.
Great food, great service!
This is a surprisingly nice place in a town you'd least expect to have this type of restaurant.
I've tried this restaurant a couple different times over the years and have been disappointed each time. The only thing I liked the last time was the drink I ordered. You could probably get the same quality, if not better, at the Harvest Diner. If I wanted soup out of a can I would've went to Walmart! I don't recommend this restaurant. I've never tried the hotel but I'm not willing to after trying the restaurant. The servers were always polite, long wait times even if the restaurant isn't packed. I hope the food improves, good luck with that.
Thanksgiving dinner was delicious and service was perfect.
Went for the prime rib special. Delicious! Lovely atmosphere and wait staff. Oh and if you like Irish coffee that was wonderful too.
We stopped in around 230 on a Saturday afternoon when we were visiting the area for a quick getaway. Lovely atmosphere! Greatly enjoyed the music choice, and had good food and service. And a nice local beer (Blues Golden Ale from 16 mile brewing company ) on tap. Soup of the day was a loaded potato (very good). The oyster stew was also excellent. Reuben sandwich with sweet potato fries was extremely good, and fiance's oyster poboy and fries met with approval also. I would definitely recommend and return if in the area again.
Its stuffy....waitress was rude
Very nice spot in town for darn good food and a great looking restaurant. There's light live music a lot which I really love. Best thing though is the crab cakes special which they have on most Mondays. Spectacular.
Unique pub, restaurant and inn on the circle in Georgetown. Great service and friendly atmosphere. Outside dinning also available weather permitting. Interesting menu featuring local products along with some unique bitems as well as the usual standbys like burgers. My husband and I had lunch there on the way back from the beach. I chose the pork with broccoli Rabe sandwich with fries. My husband had a hard time making a choice between the Cuban sandwich, the Brunswick stew with a local twist, and the sandwich I ordered. He ended up getting the sandwich I had ordered but with Cole slaw. It was very good but a little too salty. Will definitely stop there again to try some of their other choices. Dinner is also available as well as special events like live music in the Pub and the upcoming Easter Brunch.
The hotel is awesome! It's a nice change from the chain hotels I normally say in. The balcony overlooking the circle is a major plus. I decided to eat in their restaurant. It started out rough... I ordered the blue cheese wedge and they did something to the bacon with vinegar that in my world was just wrong... I ask if I could swap it out and with no complaint or hesitation I quickly got a house salad that was amazing, freash, and really good... Then I ordered the oyster stew... This is the reason I'll be coming back! It had nice chunks of oysters, perfect thickness, and an full flavor. Finally I order some crispy wings and there was nothing unique about them to set them apart, but they were still very good if you're in the mood for Wings. If not for my low carb diet I would have order desert because what I saw others ordering looked really big and really good. My server was very kind, accommodating, and my cup was never empty. I Highly recommended the Brick.
Mother's Day brunch was great.
Wish I could give a lower rating on this place. I got the 1/2 steamed shrimp and my shrimp were sour and under cooked. So I told the waitress about it and she said would you like something else. I asked if I could have them remade. She told me that "they would be the same shrimp". So not sure what she ment by same shrimp I said just take it off the bill. I also ordered the calamari tossed in garlic butter sauce. I asked the waitress if anything came with it she told me "no" then I said like tomatoes or anything like that because I have food allergies. She said peppers. I said okay can you tell your cooks not to make them with peppers. I got them back with not garlic butter. They were also put on a whole bed of salad??? Then I was never told what the sauces were I had to ask at the end of my meal. Needless to say they were very bland. This place are in need of new cooks.
A group of managers from the company I work for came into the restaurant for lunch today with 10 people and were essentially refused service even though the restaurant was empty. Everything was fine up until some African American managers walked in then we were informed that we should probably leave and go to different place. When we insisted that we wanted to eat there we were told that we could be seated but it would be nearly a hour before we could be served. We spoke with owner who also reassured us that we could not be served for an extended period of time so we should probably leave. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody. To add we went to Pizza Palace directly after and they were completely full and immediately started cleaning tables to accommodate us and even asked a regular to relocate to different location for space concerns.
Far exceeded my expectations! Serves local fair. not your typical restaurant that just opens a can and serves it to you.
Great food great experience.
Great service, great food
Very nice Oasis in a land of fast food. We took a wrong turn heading north and ended up in a vastly uninhabited area. Finally found the Brick Tavern on a map and very pleased with the food, the service and the price. Loved the colonial decorations and furniture. Would definitely go again if we lived in the area.
Fine lunch. No oysters but suggested option of mussels was good. Busy today, good.
It was a nice venue.
A little hi priced and a little fancy for my taste great staff!
Very pleasant cozy place
Always good quality food and friendly staff
I was a fan of The Brick. This was the first time trying it under new ownership. My lunch was very good. The House Burger with onion jam was awesome. My wife and I will definitely return.
Excellent!!! A lovely and tasty experience.
Great atmosphere, good food.
Food was wonderful very accommodating to my husband's allergy and my mom's and me diabetes.
Service and ambiance were good. Food was a disappointment.
Food was exceptional! Service was wonderful. Love this place under new ownership.
Cream of crab was thin and not much crab given the $9 price. More oyster crackers provided than crab. No sherry offered for soup. House salad was mixed greens, lots of onions, a few cherry and a few pieces of mushroom. Not very creative. The wife had the salmon with mashed potatoes and sauteed squash. It was served hot and the fish was ok. I had the Thai Curry, a vegetarian dish. Served hot. Rice was mushy. Tasted well. Tables around us complained about their strakes. Manager was annoying and had a canned script asking every table if their food met or exceeded their expectations. One table had their order wrong. Music in background was nice. Doubt we will return anytime soon.
First time at The Counting House for what was an advertised Easter Brunch. One had to have a reservation so management knew how many diners were expected. We had a short wait for our table to be ready for our party of 8. We went up to buffet with anticipation of getting the advertised seafood of shrimp cocktail, crab legs, mussels etc. None were available when someone in our party mentioned the disappointment of no seafood she was told by curt female staffer she was lucky there was any food for us. What? At $30 dollars a head and you know many are coming why should we feel lucky there was food. No one came to pick up used dishes and we asked for water several times with a certainly I will get that right away. An hour later we still had no water. I believe they should have hired bus people to remove dishes and have water fillers on hand. We won't be dining there again. 8 disappointed diners.
Food is delicious
Very nice ambiance. Food was good but not great. Found their parking lot by accident. Lot is not readily visible from street.
Food was horrible prices outrageous!! Avoid prime rib special taste like rubber
Loved the food, ambiance & service. Taste & presentation of our meals was great! Will return with family and friends. thank you!
Very enjoyable evening on the roof listening to 2nd Time Around. Cudos to the staff for all the running they did with meals! The filet was great, more juice on the plate would have been bonus but very tasty and cooked to order. We come back again!
Sunday Brunch - not impressive. Staff - not impressive. The brunch was left empty at 11a. The eggs were green. All other pans, near empty and dried out. We returned to our table with no food and asked the waitress if we could order 'something else.' No, was the response - I'll tell the chef and he'll cook more eggs (for the buffet). They know the eggs are green. She later brought tasteless, ?powdered? eggs on dishes to our table. In reality, we "could" have ordered something from the menu; at an additional cost and had fresh food. Our waitress did not offer that up as an option - we would have loved fresh eggs benedict. I overheard another waitress tell her patrons of that option as we were leaving. Would not go there again - for any meal. The space, however, is very nice.
New chef and menu need improvement! Service leaves much to be desired.
Great service and the food was delicious.
Great ambiance. Good food.
Always enjoy a nice atmosphere and good food.
