My water heater would not heat up the water, so I called these guys to come to take a look. They told me the visit is $40, and if there is anything needs to be done, the technician will give me an estimate. So the technician came, look at it, pushed a button to light up the lit and then told me that it got turned off probably because it had no enough oxygen. So his suggestion was to put an extra fan on the roof, and he gave me the estimate. So far so good. Then he tells me that I need to pay about $200. I told him that for visit I had to pay $40 and I do not understand why now I have to pay $200. The answer was that because he lightened up the lit. Well, first of all it took just 5 seconds, so it must be part of the $40 I agreed to pay for the visit. Second, I did not agree on anything over $40, so why I have to pay for something I did not agree? At least he could tell me that this is going to cost me extra $160 before actually doing it. Unbelievable!!!

The two sinks in our upstairs bathroom stopped draining. To make matters worse, the condensate from the A/C was backing up in the drain line into the two sinks. I was having to bail out the sinks to keep the water from overflowing onto the floor. We are members of ABACUS Plumbing so we called, and Chris Temple came to the house. He arrived at the scheduled time and was here one hour and corrected the problem quickly and thoroughly. He also replaced the P-traps on both sinks to eliminate leaks. My wife and I are extremely happy with the job that Chris did. The price was competitive, and with the member discount and member coupons the final cost out of pocket today was only $10.

People work hard for their money so please dont let this company price gouge you and get a second opinion. We deeply regret not doing that. I highly recommend ABACUS. They have maintained and fixed numerous problems in my house over the years. The latest problem happened in the very early hours around 2-3AM.. Rick Muck responded within an hour to fix the problem with plumbing that caused brown water to back up into the tubs, unflushable toilets, and a very bad smell. It ended up being a much larger project than he expected, but the price remained the same. He finished the work in a relatively short time frame, given the complexity. We had a new system and ductwork installed on Saturday. This morning, 5 days later, we had a critical alarm showed up on or keypad. I called Abacus immediately and they sent Dan out within the hour. He explained to me about electrical surges that could happen, but he checked out the whole system and everything is fine. He really couldn't pin point what the problem was. Dan was amazing with his knowledge of the system and explained what he was doing. I felt very comfortable with him checking out our system. Requested service to check my water heater and to drain. They were there 1/2 hour writing up estimates for recommendations until I told them to simply check my water heater and drain it. That took 8 minutes and they charged me $327.00. I typically pay $150.00 elsewhere. They said it is working fine but ended up sending estimates out totaling $4500.00 to install new ones with 2 new valves and different ventilation. Previously Abacus replaced my toilet $950.00. Again overpriced after installing I sat on it and it was lower than the one he took off. He said it was the same height as old one. He flat out lied to me without showing me evidence and walked out. You will pay double sometimes triple the cost with Abacus and they claim their contractors do it right. Well not all the time. Shame on this company for treating people like this. It is just a matter of time it will all catch up to you.

Abacus called me to schedule an annual inspection. I let them know that I was concerned about a bathroom fan that was going out. Ricardo Rosas arrived at my house and was ready to go. He did a thorough inspection of my electrical system. I told him about the fan and that I was needing replacement bulbs in a fluorescent light in my laundry room. He gave me a quote on both repairs (or replacements). We also discussed the need to update my hard wired smoke detectors and he quoted me on that. I will do that in the future. He arrived on time and even finished exactly when he said he would. I will definitely call him and Abacus in the future with my electrical needs.

I came home to a strong burning smell of plastic. The fire department was called and said to turn off the HVAC unit. I called Abacus AC the next morning and got a quick appointment time set up (it was 95 degrees so I wanted this fixed ASAP). I received the 30 minute call before the appointment to let me know M.C. Perez was on his way. M.C promptly arrived at the 1:00 time. He went into the attic and turned the unit on to see what was going on. After about 10 minutes smoke started pouring out of my vents. M.C. actually saw my motor catch fire with flames coming out. Thank goodness he was able to get it turned off quickly! This was a faulty motor - under warranty - very scary. M.C. spoke with his manager and they stated that they have never seen a motor with flames. They suggested that the motor and the circuit board be replaced; and I agreed. M.C. went ABOVE and BEYOND to get the parts the next day; which was a Friday. He had to run to several places to make this happen. M.C. got to my house at 3:00 and left at 5:30. He was up in that HOT attic and making sure that my AC was up and running before the weekend. It's such a great feeling that you can trust the person working on your home. It's a gut feeling and M.C. is definitely a technician that you can trust. He took pictures and showed me the actual damaged parts. He answered every question. Thank you to Abacus and to M.C. Perez! This could have turned out VERY bad, and I'm thankful I choose the right company to come out. To Abacus management - I want M.C. Perez to be my ongoing technician. Thank you, Leslie

An Abacus technician came out to perform a regular scheduled maintenance on my AC unit. For some reason, later that evening, the unit stopped working. Panicked, because the unit had previously been working fine (and because it is August and AC is a necessity), I contacted the company and asked that they call me as soon as possible. I sent the message on a Saturday night around 9:30 pm and I truly did not expect to hear from anyone until Monday. The company called me within 10 minutes of me contacting them and another technician was at my home within a couple of hours. I was amazed. The technician was able to get the unit back up and running so I didn’t even have to spend one night without AC (did I mention it’s August?). I’m extremely pleased with how Abacus handled my AC problem.

Carlos Degaldo and his helper came out on Sunday and replaced one of my A/C units and ducts. They were right on time at 9:00AM and stayed until the job was finished at 10:30PM that night. They were very polite and professional! I would recommend Abacus to anyone I know, you don’t see many companies who give you such good service. When they were done, you couldn’t even tell they had been there. Everything was cleaned up and no evidence of trash or debris was left behind. I admit that I was skeptical, as I've had bad experiences with HVAC companies in the past. But Abacus and Carlos quickly changed my mind. Our AC unit stopped pushing cool air, and in Houston, that's an emergency! Carlos came to our house and was kind, thorough, and extremely helpful. He didn't push any service beyond what was needed, and only offered suggested repairs when asked. He was knowledgable and spent time going over our system with me so I can understand it better. Very quick service, too. They came out the same day I called. Reasonable prices, and their membership is an excellent deal for bi-annual tune ups and discounts! I’ve had 3 installation visits and now waiting for City of Houston to inspect. I have NO faith in the installation manager who promised an end to the issues 2 weeks ago. Since I have two systems, one for downstairs and another for upstairs, he labeled the systems for future reference. Moreover, he caulked around the box on the outside wall to prevent insects from gaining entrance. The final test of his work will occur when the city inspection takes place next week.

Had them come to install a new ac unit , the next day after installation the new thermostat that they gave me started acting crazy and had no good air flow. Half of my house had great air flow the other none at all. i called to have someone come out to checked it but still the same problem then I called again someone shows up and changes the whole air flow to half the house. I'm frustrated at this point that I'm going to make sure to report my issues to the BBB and to anyone looking for ac unit and let them know to not use them at all. I only wish a zero star rating was possible. Complete rip-off. I told them what my issue was over the phone. Striker on the water heater wasn’t working. Guy shows up and takes two steps in and says I can’t touch your water heater. Fine then leave, but no, I have to pay $50 for a service call? What service? Just say no to this company. Call Roto Rooter instead. It’s a zero charge if you don’t have any work done.

This is the first time I have used Abacus. It was to find and repair a water leak in a rental property. Making an appointment was easy (short hold time), for the very next day. The dispatcher texted me the morning of the appointment and called me to offer an earlier time. I couldn't do it today, but I told her I could make it one hour earlier than planned. That worked. The Plumber called me when on the way which gave me ample notice. He (Robert) was fantastic! He was very professional, thorough, and hard working. While there, he found what may be two other problems (with my AC and a ventilation fan in the bathroom). But he had a simple and cheap fix for the leak (I was afraid it would be some very expensive pipe leak). I am taking all my future business to Abacus. I could not be happier with their service.

The technicians arrived on time and began by placing matting down to ensure that my floors were not scratched up or left dirty from them going in and out. The install and removal of the old water heater was quick and completed to my satisfaction. The new water heater looks better than the original and the whole set up is neater as well.

The tech was very professional and timely. My only complaint is that the customer service line was not able to provide me any ballpark estimate on a repair. I understood that someone needed to formally look at the problem before giving an exact price, but I think their call center employees should be aware of generally how much things cost. It seemed a bit misleading that they could not give any prices over the phone-a $200 repair is very different than an $800 repair and they couldn't even ball park that. It was 10:00PM at night, so having limited options we agreed to the late hour service fee. Repair ended up being $370 for a job that took the tech 20 minutes.

We called to have some running toilets and a shower that didn't put out hot water fixed. David's biggest concern seemed to be to get us to buy a water softener, starting at 4K. When I asked about the showerhead, he told me that he had no idea how much the cartridge in the shower would cost. When I asked for a ballpark, 50? 500? He said $500 at least. When I told my husband in front of him how much he'd said, he told my husband, "Well, 300 to 500." Since hubby was sick, I was dealing with it. Not happy that I was quoted a considerably higher price. So we basically paid the $50 trip charge to get Abacus plumbing out of here. He didn't even unscrew the shower to look at it. Moreover, he didn't fix the toilets, though he did tell his someone had done a bad job working on the toilet and that he could get us a price on new ones. Lesson learned. We have a different plumber coming out. The lady in the office was very helpful, though. Unfortunately, she didn't do the work.

had them come out to do my ac maintenance i even signed up for the member worst mistake ever the gentleman came out and stated that i needed a new unit a cost of $16,000 that i had a leak and drain was clogged , he could not find the leak and did not offer to look for the leak stated that getting freon would not help and that if it ran out of freon it would break. i couldn't believe this so i had another ac tech come out the same day . the second ac tech stated no leak and he cleared my drain. he said my ac is working at 80% and to replace should not cost anywhere near that crazy amount. Abacus is just out to make money on hard working people. do not use this company for Ac Maintenance. Glad my gut told me to get a second opinion.

We requested a quote from this company for a soap test that’s required to be a foster home. The person my husband spoke with was very personable, made an appt, and told him the service fee would be waived because it was for foster approval. When their person came for the appointment he told my husband that the test actually cost $500+ (They left this little tidbit out on the phone) and they were going to waive the $49.95 service fee only if we had the test done!! Needless to say my husband paid the service fee and the guy left. I wouldn’t have paid them anything since they provided inaccurate information on the phone in the first place. Very unethical practices it seems to me.. BEWARE!!!
