I don’t usually post reviews but wanted to recommend Mike from Emco. Got his name from a local listserv when we needed to (we thought) have a new wire run from our apartment to building basement (a major job). Mike came and did some troubleshooting and quickly told me my wire was fine (the HVAC guy had given me the wrong diagnosis). Mike listened well and was quick and efficient and a pleasure to deal with.

Children's Theater Company

Mike was superbly insightful in figuring out some of our lighting issues (in our old building). Most electricians before him messed up or gave up. He was patient, meticulous and his team was incredibly clean and respectful. They went beyond the call of duty. We feel lucky to have him in manhattan.

The work was excellent and Mike was extremely responsive to calls and scheduling. Right on time (a rarity in NYC). Was pleased with the level of detail put into their work. Make sure you are crystal clear on expectations in advance - in order to get an estimate for work without surprises (additional fees) later on. You also need to be available to personally supervise the work being done. What you ask for may be more complicated than it looks (my experience with Emco.)

I can’t say enough great things about Emco. For years we’ve had electrical problems that other electricians have attempted to fix but couldn’t. Mike solved the problem in one visit. We’ve used him on 2 projects now and have not had any problems. He was on time, thorough, patient (explained everything and answered all my annoying questions), worked quickly, fixed the problem and left the place immaculate. It doesn’t get better than that.

Mike from EmCo replaced our old fluorescent fixtures with new LED dimmable fixtures and switches in our kitchen. Mike did a great job cleaning up the old wires and installing new compact fixtures. He is flexible and easy to work with when it came to scheduling.

Mike and his team did an excellent job of fixing the HVAC electrical box on our roof in preparation for the roof to be resurfaced. He was meticulous in making sure the electrical wires were supported through a metal pipe, and remounting the box on the side of the roof. The roof workmen from another company were also very impressed with the quality of work. He was incredibly responsive, even came out on a Sunday, and was able to finish the job ahead of time. I can't recommend this company enough, and will most definitely be using their services again in the future.

We have used Emco twice. First time was Mike alone - prompt, courteous, totally professional, efficient and reasonable. Second time was two others for a job which we thought was going to be straightforward and a few hours, but ended up being a full day. The guys working here were both, again, prompt, courteous and totally professional. When you live in a small space and are going to have strangers around all day, it really helps when they seem not only to know exactly what they are doing, but are also friendly and pleasant to be around. I cannot recommend Emco more highly!
