Horrendous experience. I first called and was forwarded to an answering service where they just took my name and number. I got a call back not too long after. The guy on the phone was a technician, I asked for an itemized quote for how much it would take to install a Nest thermorstat. I mentioned that I was missing a C wire, he replied in a condescending tone "well how do you know that?" I replied by saying that my regular hvac guy had a look before hand and that's what he said, to which he replied "we'll why didn't he take care of it then?" (my hvac guy doesn't do electrical work. I pushed just for a quote and said he'd let me know when he'd get there. I asked for a ballpark, he said $200. I asked him to break it down or itemize it. That's when I could tell he was starting to get irritated. He said, I gave you a ballpark, bye and hung up on me.
He calls back a moment later telling there are other options than a nest thermostat, I tried to clear the tension and just say that I wanted to understand what I was getting charged for, he then broke it down and said that I should already know that because I was told when I first called the forwarding center (I wasn't).
Against my better judgement I agreed to sending a technician to do an assessment. The technician got there quickly, quoted me $1,200 dollars to run a new wire (I have a finished basement), then a "cheaper" alternative for $880, or.. that's when he started a sales pitch for myhomewiz (had the logo on his van). I ended up paying the $59 for them showing up and I was done.
