By far the best electrician in the entire region. We had a tricky project with a nonstandard light that we didn't think was going to work but he made it happen. We also had him install several other lights and his work is impeccable. He discovered one light that had an incandescent bulb in it had heated the wires to the point that they frayed so that replacement turned out to be in the nick of time). I can't say enough about the work, honesty and quality of service. Highly recommend!

Yi and his team are very professional, knowledgeable, and do great work! I recently purchased my first home and Yi took care of some electrical work I wanted done before I got moved in. I had recessed lights put in, additional outlets, and cat6 ran throughout the house and outside for security cams back in May. They showed up early and when the job ended up being more complicated than initially anticipated (read: old house probs), they stayed late to ensure that all the work was done in one day. Yi was such a big help! He helped me prioritize other various work that I needed/would need to get done and gave me solid answers to my numerous questions. Also, one of my recessed lights started to have issues last weekend. I sent Yi a text with a video of the issue and that very same day Yi and his team came out and fixed it! If that's not great costumer service, I don't know what is! I highly recommend him and his team! I've already contacted him about work for my next project; kitchen renovation!

this is a copy of my review from another review site. I think it's important to get the word out about good customer service. This outfit is great. Yi does not waste your time or money. He fixed our broken doorbell, which turned out to be the result of me installing hard wired fire alarms, quickly and without passing judgement on my DIY skills. He also fixed some dead outlets really fast, teaching me new stuff about GFI outlets in the process. Top notch service.

Best electrician in Washington area. I can’t tell you how great YC electric is. Yi Chang, the owner, is extraordinarily smart and skillful. He fixed electric problems in our house that no one else had been able to. He came on a Saturday, when we had an electrical emergency, and swiftly analyzed and repaired 3 problems that had defeated two other electrical firms. He is truly the best.

Yi and his crew are fantastic. I highly recommend them. We needed to find a licensed electrician in a bind. After two other electricians tried to convince us to heavy up the our panel and do unnecessary wiring, a neighbor recommended Yi. After sending a text to YC Electric, I received a response within a few hours and had an appointment a couple of days later. YC Electric’s preferred method of communication is via text. You receive a call only when necessary. It’s so much more efficient than waiting on hold and then talking to a call center. Once at our house, Yi explained why a heavy up was not necessary, recommended a wireless switch instead of labor intensive wiring, and brought a sample light to make sure I was truly okay with the lighting design. He also recommended some excellent revisions to the lighting design. And, his pricing was much more reasonable than the other electricians. When it came time for the work, his crew did a great job and even caught a mistake from my contractor. They are professional and courteous. Yi even came by after the work and fixed a minor thing not in our work plan at no cost. He also made minor modifications to the work plan based on changes we wanted without making it an issue. Again, if you want an honest, creative, design oriented electrician who is professional - call Yi at YC Electric.

No wonder YC Electric has glowing reviews on Yelp. Yi did an amazing job with various jobs around our new house. If I could say one thing about his service, it's that he was always upfront with us about additional costs or possibility for a paint chip or scratch. We got in touch with Yi to install an entryway chandelier and to fix a broken dimmer switch, both of which he did easily. We also asked him to check the electrical panel. He discovered and then tightened a couple of loose connections. To access the wiring in the panel he had to pry off the cover, which the last owners had painted over for some reason. He was so careful you can barely even tell it was pried off. While he was working he gave us details about the fixtures that the prior owners had installed so that we would be better able to fix things on our own next time. We needed him again the following year for some work on the kitchen lights. Stellar work once again! Thanks, Yi!

I’ve used them twice in two different houses for a heavy up and a subpanel with 50 amp receptacle. I would not consider using anyone else. Both times the job was done quickly and professionally. I wish all contractors did this kind of quality work! They guys always clean up and were very polite. Last second changes were accommodated. I highly recommend! Totally worth the wait if they can’t do the job right away - they are super busy because they do great work.

Yi did an awesome job today. He was as advertised,quick and friendly. We found on Yelp last year and the reviews were spot on, the price was fair and the work ended up being less than the estimate and he charged less. He even brought covers for his booths and wore them when walking in the house. Very professional and pleasant. A local small business which were always happy to support. Tip: text the picture of the problem and you’ll get a decent estimate and completion time. Texting the number on google really works. He responds in 15 minutes.

Would HIGHLY recommend YC Electric. Yi is the owner of the company and he personally came out to my house, same day and fixed allllllll of my electrical problems. He had his tool belt on and was quick, efficient and super nice. I had exposed wires, old fixtures, a confusing break panel, and he even was from the area so he knew all of the in's and out's of my house electrical system. At the end everything was back to perfect. His pricing is very fair. I will be recommending him to all of my family and friends and only using him in the future.

I asked YC Electric to provide an estimate to install a NEMA outlet to charge my electric vehicle in my garage. From the start, I was extremely happy with how fast they responded and the outstanding guidance provided. My experience with Yi was fantastic. He is very quick to reply once the email is sent, and will then discuss matters via text, which is his preferred communication. He is very straightforward with his up front cost for evaluation. And while this may detract some, he has no hidden charges others might have. He was wonderful with my tenant, very quick, responsive, able to get to the crux of the matter. Everything ended up being included with the initial estimate, which all together was cheaper than other groups. I will always keep Yi as my top choice for electric options, and have recommended him to friends!

Recently moved into an old row house that needed an electrical upgrade and contacted Yi. He was very quick in his response time via text message and has great communications skills (which is a plus in the construction world). After an initial site visit we came to a conclusion what all would need to be done and the timeline in which to expect. I was thoroughly impressed as Yi and his crew pushed to get their work done just days before he was leaving for vacation, instead of waiting until after the trip/Holidays, which would've delayed my schedule a couple of weeks. Not long after the install/inspection he was able to get PEPCO out to the house to finish everything up, which is a huge task in itself as I have heard horror stories about how long it can take the power companies to get their work done. I would highly recommend Yi if anybody is looking for an electrical contractor who's honest, does great work and is fairly priced in the DC area!

Found YC Electric based on all the great yelp reviews and Yi did not disappoint! What I thought was an outlet connection issue was actually shotty construction from when my building converted into individual condos. The company nailed drywall straight into a live wire. Thank God Mr Chang found and repaired the fire hazard! He was able to work directly with my tenant and send me the bill afterwards and I think his pricing is very fair.

This was such a great experience in terms of quality of work, price, and responsiveness: * Timely response to a text requesting work, with good communication back and forth to make sure what I thought I needed was actually the best solution for me. * When team was delayed at another project, the owner came himself to my home to do the work. * Again while on site, there were questions to confirm the work and options we had not considered. These were not upsell, they were options to minimize the damage to drywall and to get us the best result. * Work was fast, fair price, and everything works perfectly. I can't imagine working with anyone else for electrical. If you doubt me, then please check YC Electrical ratings on other sites (Yelp, etc) -- I can't believe I am the first to review here on google!

I was a bit nervous because my GC said the electrical was going to be difficult. After YC Electric left, the GC was even impressed with the work done. Yi is phenomenal. He is responsive, does high quality work, and helps you to think through things that may not have occurred to you, all at very reasonable rates. I've used him multiple times, for everything from rewiring switches to adding outlets to installing security cameras, and every time, Yi has been a consummate professional. As an example, when he installed the cameras, we discussed potential locations, and he was able to install them such that there was minimal cord left outside, then waited while l checked their field of view to ensure everything was exactly the way wanted. I am one of those homeowner that lacks technical knowledge even on minor repair much more electrical issues. I called YC Electric and explained to Mr. Yi my issues. Mr. Yi explained to me in detail the possible issues, and asked me to reset the GCFI and if it does not work, to send him a picture of the circuit breaker. The last time this happened to me, an electrician came but did not explain to me what should be done in case similar issues happened again; and he charged me $150 just to push a button. Mr. Yi's explanation was very clear and I was able to reset the button and everything back to normal operation. I offered to pay for his trouble, but Mr. Yi was kind enough to tell me that all he did was explain and did not even come, so I owe him nothing. It is his honesty and trustworthiness that makes homeowner like me grateful. Many times, technician take advantage of people's lack of knowledge; but Mr. Yi is different. He is trustworthy and NOT GREEDY. It brings back trust to your fellow men.

We needed an electrician to come in and put in recessed lighting in our family room as well as installing a chandelier. We live in an older colonial style house and the wiring is still the original so I wanted someone with a lot of experience. We actually had several people come out and give us a variety of different quotes. Each of them also had differing opinions on how to complete the job. YC Electric came out and based on all the reviews I was very excited for them to tell me what they thought. From the very beginning Yi was the most knowledgeable and that put me at ease. They were also very responsive which is a must! On instal day, his team were AMAZING. We ran into some issues with our ceiling and couldn't go with the original plan but the team realized the issue, tried to give several options and ended up with an AMAZING outcome. We love the lights and the way they look. I also changed several things on them during the project and they were very accommodating.
