My family has been lucky enough to be horseback riding at Ahaso Hill Farm since 2015 when my youngest of 3 began weekly lessons there.
In our mind, the stables are situated in what us the most bucolic, quintessentially Vermont settings one could hope for.
Kate is an amazing teacher, and a tremendously skilled rider herself. She teaches and works with all levels of rider, inspiring confidence, love, and respect in each student for horses, and horsemanship. I’ve found it a fun and caring environment for my kids to learn and play. I’ve spent a lot of time there, and know it, first hand. The school horses and boarded horses have an unusually grand amount of space to run and live in their natural heard conditions, as well as have safe and clean stalls and paddocks. Its a happy, well cared for, motley crew of breeds at the farm. They employ the top in the north east for their animals. A renowned ferrier makes his rounds regularly, and their large animal vet is brilliant, attentive, and quickly available. I am friends with a number of people who board their horses there, and ride there. Lucky horses!
I am not an avid rider myself, but I love horses; being around them, and caring for them. In turn Ive learned they care for me as well. And the relaxed, unpretentious attitude, and vibe at the farm is one that fosters healing and close relationships with these deeply sensitive animals. I and my kids have learned there is so much to be gained, personally, from getting to know them intimately. The farm offered us summer camps, trail riding, indoor winter riding, 3 season outdoor riding, and focused professional dressage lessons.
My daughters even learned some of the basics of horse training. and offered us work-trade toward lessons. I guess its safe to say Kate offers each individual rider a holistic equine education. She’s quick, lively and smart and offers a plethora of knowledge of every aspect of horsemanship. 5 Stars!
