I spent a semester during college working as a marketing intern for Dale Carnegie, as well as attending the signature course during that same time period. I found the course to be quite formative and more helpful even than a lot of the classes that I took during school. My instructor was friendly and supportive and was able to effectively connect with each separate member of our class. The internship was also a positive experience with the folks in the Dale Carnegie office. Alan is a soft spoken and kind man, and the rest of the staff in the office are all quite friendly and helpful. The internship itself could have used some work at the time that I was there, with a little more structure and tangible objectives to accomplish, but overall the experience was positive.

During my senior year of college, I was an intern for Dale Carnegie Training of Tennessee. I heard about them through Kara Hankins and my Business Communications class. I was welcomed with open arms onto their team. I learned a great deal of valuable things from Sales Force, organizing Excel worksheets, how to communicate better through email, building a better resume, etc. Working with Dan, Kara, Latoya, and Alyn was great because they were open, willing to teach me with patience, and taught me new things. One of the highlights of being an intern there was being able to take one of the communication classes. The class challenges you to get out of your comfort zone and to talk to people in an effective way. It was fun making new friends and stepping out to the challenges presented. After I took that class and completed that internship, public speaking became much easier. After that, public speaking became much easier and even enjoyable. I was able to complete my advance public speaking class with flying colors and even presented a friend of mine before he gave his sermon in a preaching competition. I recommend taking the classes and interning there if you study, work for, or own a business, work in communications, or even just want to become a better speaker. You will become better as a communicator by the time the class and internship are over.

In my senior year of college, I did my internship at Dale Carnegie Training of TN. For that internship, I worked under their marketing coordinator, handling the franchises for most of Tennessee, some Indiana, and a few others. It was about the best internship experience I could have hoped for. Dan, the marketing coordinator, was intentional about making sure that this internship was a learning experience, and not just an extra person to get coffee. I did some grunt work, for sure, but every job has some less-than-desirable aspects. It truly was an eye-opening experience for how the methods, tactics, and philosophies I learned about in school applied to real life business situations. Everyone in that office was great to work with and learn from. When I finished my time there, I did an exit interview with Dan and Alan (The franchise owner). It was one of the first times I'd gotten real advice and objective criticism of myself about how I work and my future career. To top it off, they enrolled me in a free Dale Carnegie course! Later on, I was at a job fair, and the crew at Dale Carnegie was generous enough to connect me with a man who hired me shortly afterwards. I am incredibly grateful for Dale Carnegie Training of Tennessee, and crew that runs it!

They didn't overload us with too much information, as can happen at these types of events. My only wish was that it could have been a full-day event instead of four hours, as I'm sure they had tons more to teach us. Overall, very satisfied with this company and we will definitely consider using them again.

This is the best training class I have ever taken in my career! I've read "How to Win Friends and Influence People" three different times before this class and thought it would just be a good refresher. It became apparent that this would be much more than a refresher since you were held accountable to practice the principles and report out on them each week. I had to start out to be intentional to implement the principles so I had something to report on and by the end of the class I had more stories to share than I had time since they became part of who I was and how I interacted with others. Since taking this class I have been much more productive at work, as well as at home. I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone!
