She cancelled my first lesson. And the second lesson she called me 30 minutes after and told me she had to cancel because she didn't realize how far my house was from cranston which is only 30 minutes away, and she should have look my address up because I booked my lesson 3 months in advance. And I lost 8 hours of work. I don't recommend her.

My Son took a 2 hour driving lesson yesterday with Joan the Instructor. She did not introduce her self properly when he got in the car. She sat outside in the car for 10 minutes with me questioning why he didn’t answer his phone or check his messages regarding a prior appointment that was scheduled rather explaining the driving procedures. My son stated she was yelling at him verses teaching him how to drive. She was eating a burger during the lesson. He also stated she was not encouraging him on the things he was doing right but saying he was doing everything wrong. She also indicated he was spinning the wheel wrong while he was steering in the right direction. For the two hour lesson he should’ve been behind the wheel for 2 hours practicing with her making sure he was doing the right thing. He had a poor experience for his first driving experience and stated to me he could not wait to get of out the car. I would not recommend her and at her age she should not be giving teenagers driving lessons.

I had her for driving lessons in the summer of 2010 and she was great. I randomly decided to google her to see if she was still doing it out of curiosity. Ignore other comments. If you want a good, affordable teacher, use her. Yes she is hard on you, but she wants you to LISTEN TO HER. I started driving with 1 hand on the wheel and she reemed me out. Well deserved. I passed my test with a 99%..

Joan is a vey nice woman. I enjoy her techniques. she will repeat anything you do not understand. she asks if you have any questions and she explains things that a first time driver would not have known. yes she should like she gets annoyed with you but she makes sure you get it. she gives you positive feedback to make you feel better about your first time driving. she is very good. I would recommend her.

Slammed on the brake and took the wheel from my hand while I was driving . Told me I was speeding when the speedometer showed other wise.

Worst driving school shes never on time she cancelles on you with out phone calls and you cant even use her car for the road test save your 75 and go some were else trust me

She showed up 30 minutes late, but had time to stop for coffee at drunks. She spent most of the time talking, and I think I drove my e 20 minutes with her. She also made an extremely racist comment, complaining about how she hates the fact people who don’t speak English can have a translator for their driving test. I have never felt more uncomfortable in my life. Complete waste of time and money.

I wish I had seen these reviews prior to calling Joan Avery for driving lessons cause when I tell you this lady is harsh, impatient and not a pleasant experience I am not joking. About 30 minutes into my lesson and hearing her mouth and continual complaints I had to call it a day. Deep down I believe there is a kind hearted woman but then again I might just be the kind of person that looks for the best in people. With that being said go with AAA driving school, they are both professional and courteous.

she was a good instructor and taught me how to drive well. however, she agreed to take me to the road test and then cancelled on me saying she is on vacation.
