10+++ Fred from 401 Driving School was a phenomenal resource for my 16 year old son. Originally we were not considering adding driving lessons for my son - but I am so glad that we did. As a former examiner, Fred knows exactly what the driver will be tested on, which is invaluable. Fred is an exceptional fit for both parents and kids - he was so professional and kind to my husband and I, and my son loved his easy and patient personality. He arrived early to every lesson, and spent extra time with my son. I can't recommend Fred highly enough. Delightful.

Fred Cavallaro and 401 Driving School, Inc. is a professional, patient, and worthwhile organization. My 16 year old son took 401 Driving School's Platinum course and was successful in obtaining his license on his first attempt. Fred was extremely patient and honest with me and my son in regards to his progress. He told us what my son needed to work on after each lesson and advised me as to when he was ready to take the test. His detailed knowledge of the rules of the road, patience, teaching techniques, and understanding of the driving test itself makes him, in my opinion, the best choice for a driving training instructor in the state of Rhode Island. My daughter is currently 14 years old, and when she turns 16, we will once again hire Fred and 401 Driving School, Inc. to prepare her to become a skilled, defensive driver.

I fully recommend 401 Driving School. Steve is an excellent instructor. From my understanding, he bought this business from the previous owner not too long ago. Steve was very patient and calm with me. I have anxiety issues and was terrified of damaging his car or doing something wrong but he set me completely at ease 10 minutes into the first lesson. I was horrified the first time I curbed his car, but he was completely calm and helped me move on quickly from my mistakes. He never once raised his voice at me. After 1 lesson, I was no longer anxious about driving. Every lesson with him, I learned something new and became a better driver. He gave me tips and exercises to practice in between lessons which helped me a lot. We did plenty of practice driving around the DMV Testing Site doing everything that an Examiner would ask me to do during the Road Test. By the time it was time for me to take my Road Test, I was fully prepared and confident that I could do it. Joe, his business partner, accompanied me to the Test Site and he was a calming presence and very easy to talk to. He took my mind off my apprehension so I was more or less calm when it was my turn to be tested. I took the test using Steve's car and passed the first time as I was familiar with the vehicle and the test's requirements. I am grateful to have found Steve to teach me driving and it was an excellent experience. I started barely knowing anything about driving and ended I passing the road test the first time. Now I am a confident, competent new driver and I have Steve to thank for that.
