As a student enrolled in the Mar 23, 2015 class. I've now completed the classroom and 10 hour road training portion of the program. Initially tested with BMV and was unsuccessful in passing the first of three phase testing requirements to secure class A CDL. I was discouraged and insofar as I'm not considered a successful graduating student until licensure is secured, and have daily reported for additional training needed to secure licensure. The problem is I'm told by Napier staff that I can only practice two days per week having taken the test already & failed. It's as though one is penalized for failing the test. I'm left in a dilemma due to obligations I have to my home which make the two days offered difficult for me to appear. How is it with a program that cost in excess of $4,200.00 to attend for a five week course limits it's students to a mere two days per week after unsuccessfully taking the state exam, you would think, one would be required to attend or minimally given the opportunity to attend and practice as often as the student felt needed to prepare for the exam. Of the twenty one initial students of my class which graduated April 24, there are six (6) who are in possession of their class A CDL meaning fifteen need additional assistance with passing, how do you restrict willing students from practicing in an effort to pass the test, secure licensure, and become gainfully employed? I am in disagreement with certain of the policies, procedures, and accepted norms of Napier, equipment is less than one hundred percent, however, the classroom instructor Bill; track instructors; Dallas; Country; Jake; Mike; Mark; Sleepy; Meryl; Bill; Curtis; and others are all super professionals with centuries of combined over the road experiences and seek to assist every student to the best of their abilities. Overall a good school family owned and operated, but as with any business there is room for improvement and my particular circumstance is an area where improvement is needed..

My name is Rocky I graduated July of 2015 An I was completely happy with the school an it took me 2 Times to pass the road test an it was my fault that I failed the first time cause I missed a gear not my teachers an if you just lesson to the teachers/ex-truck drivers the will do some one on one training with you an show you an tell you what is going on but you have to want to leason

Great school, with great instructors. They really want to see you get your CDL, and will help you any way possible. All you have to do is ask, if you need help. If you truly want your CDL, this is the school to attend. They have a great name among companies. I was offered numerous jobs, before i even took my test. And every company praised Napier and the students they have hired from there. But dont think you will just pay for school,and be guaranteed your CDL. It dont work that way. Sadly, i saw some people during my schooling, that thought that way. But if you are willing to put forth the effort, and listen, you will get your license. Again, this is a great place with great, all experienced truckers, for instructors. Thanks again everyone at Napier!!

This is one of the few CDL schools in the tri-state area. You will get out of the training what you put into it. The school overall is rundown and the trucks you use in the training yard are very very old. After you get out of the class room you are outside in the yard regardless of weather or temp.The trainers/teachers are not professional, they are mostly older truck drivers. Now that you have an idea of the atmosphere of the school, if you choose to go they will work with you and help you get your CDL going above and beyond. They also have alot of connections in the industry and you will have @least 1 recruiter a day from a truck company coming to the school trying to recruit you. If you want to get a CDL this is a viable option.

I just recently graduated, failed my test twice got it the third time, the instructors was patient with me and pushed me. Everyone there was great and I would recommend Napier over anyone. Even tho I was nervous they kept telling me how a great driver I am and kept my confidence up.

I was a student here great school be very patient. Owners actually care about your success and you passing the your test unlike most schools. They give you permanent job placement help for life.

My son’s father went to this school and we had high hopes for the opportunities it would bring for our family; however, we were continuously disappointed. Do not pay $4,000+ in tuition and think you will leave here with your CDL. Less than 15% of each class passes their test on the first try. This is a consistent rate of failure from the students, which I blame on Napier. Not only that, once you are finished with classes, another class starts so do not expect them to be a resource to you whatsoever. They will not schedule you driving time to practice sufficiently before re-taking the test because they will be focused on poorly preparing their next batch of students that will also fail the test. The trucks are very old and outdated. They will break down during instruction time and god forbid during an exam, which you’ll have to reschedule out 1-2 weeks. It’s really frustrating when you actually PAID to rent one of these vehicles to retake your test. I think this school is a scam and a money-hungry business that doesn’t care about the individual students getting the experience they need in order to pass. With these type of failure rates I’m not sure how they are allowed to call themselves a driving school but I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody.

Less than star for respect and professionalism. The secretary has been extremely rude not just once but twice. Maybe they should send her to classes to have manners and be professional.

Still early in training. Read last review before this one by Olivia and hope that it is not 100 percent spot on. Will update this review as our experience continues over the next few weeks. Something they don't tell you is that maybe only 9 percent of their students pass the test on their 1st try; AT least in my class that was the case. My class had 17 Students and 1 Student passed on first State Test. This means that you will not be without income for just 5 weeks because after you do not pass on your first attempt it takes 2 weeks to get a 2nd try appointment. So most likely you will be 7 weeks without income coming in. What makes a driving school good is a high passing rate and getting a CDL. A good school, I think would have a 90% passing rate. Anybody know where one could find these statistics on Napier Truck Driver Training? You only get 10 hours of behind the wheel compared to Roadcaster School in Columbus, Ohio you get 50 hours of behind the wheel time. If your a paying Student, which most are not, you do not get free truck rental to test site and you also have to pay State Test Fee of $110. If your on welfare or a veteran, then tuition is free, your CDL permit is free, State Test Fee is free, Napier Truck rental fee is free. Most of the Students are welfare or unemployment. On hot days many Instructors don't even come into work so there is not enough Instructors for the Students.

Great trucking school to learn how to become a Commercial Driver. The instructors are great and they will work with you to make sure you get your CDL. Other schools throw you to the wolves after your classroom/track time is up. Napier will let you come back and practice as often as you want until you pass the test. It took me nearly 90 days (mostly due to the lead time on Testing being long) to get my CDL from my start date to my graduation. This does not speak poorly for the school at all because not everyone is going to be ready after 5 weeks and being able to practice and train over a longer period of time just makes you that much more prepared for the road ahead. You get to drive with a variety of instructors all with their own unique personalities and you're able to combine all their knowledge into a nice melting pot of wisdom. The only downside is the equipment is older, However it does serve it's purpose to teach you how to drive. I would recommend this school to anyone looking to get into the Trucking Industry.

Good school and great value! Equipment and trainers are worn, but listening to the trainers and putting the extra time and effort can make you a really good driver.
