I came here for A class CDL testing, this school is a qualified third party test facility. I've been driving a B class ten wheeler with a ten speed with tankers and hazmats for 14 years. I've been pulling a 48ft fuel tanker for a couple months of training using a permit but I needed to upgrade my liscense for this job with the same employer. I brought my company's Mack and flat bed. I wasn't able to use my trailer because it is a 1970 flat bed that's completely rebuilt, it's a nice trailer but they didn't put data plates on them with the gvwr on them back then. Without the gvwr on the trailer it can't be used for testing. I was unaware of this, it stopped testing before it had began. We where able to find a trailer to rent close by, altho it was new to me and had spread axles that I had never pulled or backed before we where able to continue with testing. Chris was my tester and was a complete professional. We completed all three phases of testing, it was a pain to shove a spread axle trailer into a 90 dock with the normal 70ft boundaries but I got it in there and was able to pass my testing and obtain my class A CDL. I studied hard and put in the extra time needed to pass the skills exam. It wasn't easy and they didn't cut any corners but you get out what you put in. Chris was a nice man who had some nice words for me when we finished. I've been told it's best to come over prepared than under prepared, I found that to be true because it worked for me. Thank you to Chris and the team on 109, I couldn't be more thankful to you guys and I'm pleased to have this behind me. Truck on.
This is a great school, the instructors and staff are fantastic they want you to learn and succeed. I can not recommend a better school. They teach the old school way with manual transmission, if you ever get out there and your automatic truck is down you can still drive. Your license want be restricted to automatic. So glad I am here and loving it.
How long are the classes? Are they really 4 to 6 weeks or can it be as long as 10 weeks?
Don't waste your time or money. You get no loaded drive time They can't afford the insurance and you can only drive empty at night. Spend the extra money and go to a real driving school! It's your life and others out there you need to know what it feels like to be loaded. It's a lot different! If you plan to take your driving test there you are much better off going to DMV Cross roads is just as strict you can't even have a chicken light out. They will make sure they have a reason to have you come back
it is advertised as a 4-6 wk program there is absolutely no way this is a 4 to 6 wk course for a mon-fri student missing no days it took 10 wks it wouldve taken more time but went into the course already having a permit. also got the health/drug screening a week before classes. leaving to only need actual hands on practice on a truck and rules/regulations to get the last step.. the license. didnt get near a truck till after the 7th wk. if it wasnt for personal friend with a truck willing to let use a truck to have actual hands on practice it would have taken much longer. if you've never driven a manuel it will take ALOT longer still. the school needs more time management skills on the teachers end and more truck driving instructors. if you already have a permit you still have to take all classes starting from beginning. I want to alert ppl who are planing their household needs around a 4-6 wk program to understand and not jump the gun on expecting it to be so. KNOW that this will be a 2-4 month program and you should plan around this 2-4 months time frame to make family decisions more financially attainable.
The owner of this school is rude and condescending. I would not recommend this school at all. There are far better schools out there for the money. She is extremely impersonal and unprofessional with her clients. It used to be businesses held gratitude for giving them your business... Now it seems it's takin for granted and your treated like your insignificant. No petron deserves that. Honestly folks... There are far better options then this.
Worst place ever very unprofessional, unless your buying Mary k from the owner Julie. Even more unprofessional Beverly who you won’t see in a class room very often. Way to many people to a truck state says 4 try tripling that. You also get out of date loaner books. Go out to eat if rat dropping’s bother you in the microwave in the lunch area. Simply put go to a community collage 1/3 the cost not to mention they include all the books that you keep and so much more professional unless your looking to buy Mary K products.
Very strictly , you not pass for the next step unless do it good. Great teachers , always they are happy , they are friendly also. Good school , I am ready for my new carrier, thanks to this school.
Absolutely loved everything about my experience here. The people, atmosphere, training was professional and educational. Jerry and Julie are wonderful people who actually care about your well being and are there to help you achieve your future goals in truck driving. They go above and beyond to make sure you are taught the ins and outs of this life style. But they can't do it for you! Work hard and show up. . Listen and study.. It's up to you how far and how fast you achieve your goals. Chris is a great instructor. Helped me with anything I needed extra help on. Also was very supportive and encouraged me when I needed it. I looked forward to going everyday and excited about what I would learn. They all left a huge impression on me and I am grateful to have spent time learning from them. I will most definitely stay in touch with them all! I would recommend Cross Country for anyone's truck driving training.
With all respect to miss Julie.she told us we will be here for 4 to 6 weeks now this is the 9th week and we still have not finished yet. Only one instructure one old kick truck to train on.you come at 8 and drive in the yard for less than one hour all day.im very disappointed.Other school only 2 to 4 weeks and your done
Went here for my skills portion. Lee my tester was awesome very knowledgeable and professional guy easy to get along with . The owner I was first introduced with was not that welcoming making me feel apprehensive. All and all I would recommend just going here and getting what you need .
I went to visit this school right after work and soon as I walked in, this older white gentleman literally just stared at me for 10 seconds and said "Security?" I really felt unwelcome! He gave me the application and went somewhere. I got to the end of my application and just walked out. I was really looking forward to attending this school but I can easily find another school to attend with better customer service.
Did anyone took weekend CDL training class at this location and how was ur experience??
I graduated from here 2 years ago in May. I started about the middle of march. I was a full time student. The first person I met ( Julie ) told me I would be able to find a job very easily and I was. In-fact I had a job the day I graduated trucking school. I trained on a Volvo, Peterbilt, Freightliner and a Mack. I learned how to do a thorough pre-trip ( top to bottom, front to back ) and safely operate a CMV. I would recommend anyone to go to school here and learn. Jerry ( the owner ) came into our class several times to teach us and work with us on safe driving habits. Mike ( Instructor ) taught us how to 45° , 90° off-set and Straight line back. Lee ( instructor ) also taught us how to back and operate a CMV on the open road. I am glad I went to cross country trucking school. It really helped me prepare for life as a trucker. To all the new guys and gals. Listen to what these instructors are telling you. Trucking school isn't even scratching the surface to what you'll be seeing and doing out on the road. And most if of all, enjoy your time there with your friends and learn all you can while your there.
Great owners n learning atmosphere
Good people training and professional. Thank you mike ranger
Went there for my CDL test. They were very accomodating with a few schedule changes and other issues. Instructor was fantastic. I drove up from Charlotte and it was well worth the drive.
I just graduated from the school & had a great experience. The owners, Jerry & Julie are very professional & friendly. The other instructors Beverly, Chris & Bill made me feel comfortable with easy instruction in helping me obtain my CDL. Truck on!
