Before even being enrolled into the school I had never never been actually behind the wheel in a car, But the helpful and supportive instructors helped me surpass that minor setback, and understand how to drive properly. Each instructors was different even though they were primarily teaching the same thing. Not all of them were entirely strict, but there feedback and advice were extremely helpful because I had no car to practice with outside of the school. Overall the instructors very supportive and made their lessons very clear and easy to understand I rarely had any questions to ask because they had made it so clear to me what I was and was not suppose to do. With their help I was able to pass my road test on my first try, I am extremely grateful for their help and hope that anyone else who attends this school has an amazing experience like I did.

Be careful, place has a 24 hour cancellation policy but fail to tell you that you have to actually call 48 hours ahead if your class is on monday...because they are not open Sunday. When I called the lady said I should have looked at the signs. I think the employee should tell you that when you book the class, ugh horrible customer service.

Stay away from this driving school. The driving test - announced within 3 weeks - is not refundable even if you are not able to make it on the specific date they choose(they do not want to change the driver & car but will refund the state test, paradoxically). The manager has no common sense, he is rude with his clients and just want to make easy money. Take it or leave it.

While I didn't pay for a package, thankfully, I was very put off my the attitude of the owner. Apparently, it seems common to say the owner is rude, and I second, third, fourth this notion. We arrived there to pay for a package, and he wasn't even in. He did not answer my voice mails or phone calls, which begs the question about why they have a phone in the first place. So we went to the place. He would not arrive until *30* minutes later. So we are sitting in a hot room, with no AC and a squeaky fan. Then the owner finally arrives. And his attitude is awful. First, he acts as if he is making a speech (wouldn't even look us in the eyes) about we will pass if we do well (obviously), and when I inquire that his teaching will be indicative of that, suddenly I get a retort as if the instructors can do no wrong. Apparently, he forgot we are in the city, and not everyone has a car they can practice in. Next, the road test date is over 8 weeks away -- in September. If I take my lessons in the first week, then I'll have to keep paying for lessons or borrow a friend's vehicle to keep getting practice for my road test. I will say, he redeemed himself by mentioned we can assess them before paying upfront, but he could get me in at a 5 o'clock appt. *headdesk* We waited for a half hour for you to turn up, now I should wait another 2 hours for a lesson? Fark this.

This school, without a doubt is a perfect school. I would not have gotten my license on the 4th try if it wasn't for this school. All the instructors here are calm, patient, and willing to help people who r struggling with their driving skills. If I know somebody who's tryin to get their license, I'd say going to this school would be a wise choice, no lie.

Amazing Driving School! I went here for my 5 hour class intending to get a package since I did not drive prior driving experience for more than 15 minutes in a parking lot. So I signed up for the beginner package which included the 5 hour course, 8 (45 minute lessons), Driving Test appointment and car for the test. I was extremely nervous my first lesson (1.5 hours, used 2 lessons), since we were driving on the streets of NY, but my instructor Aldofo made me feel safe. My next 2 lessons I had with Tony both 1.5 hours each, and he made me see that driving was fun. I started to really enjoy my lessons. I had my last lesson with Aldofo where he really went into detail about all the things I needed to do for the test, I felt prepared, but I wanted more lessons so I did not get rusty in the week and 1/2 I had left before my driving test. I upgraded my package and purchased 7 additional 45 minute lessons. Aldofo really got me prepared for the test, he was very nice, and made me feel prepared. I had a lesson for 45 minutes the day of my test, and he told me I would pass, just to make sure I remember all the things we learned and try not to get nervous. The day of my test I got a really hard examiner. She was not friendly at all. Even when I said "hello, and how are you doing?" she stepped on the break slightly, what felt like 1 million times during my test. She yelled at me during my 3 point turn and told me to use all of my space when reversing. Even though I had enough room to complete the last step in the turn. She gave me points for using more than 3 moves in my 3 point turn. My parking was perfect! Thanks to Aldofo and Tony. But I was certain I did not pass, because she yelled at me twice. We pulled over and she did her calculations and low and behold I passed! She printed out the sheet, told me to sign and gave me my temporary license. Woo hoo! I told her thank you and have a nice day. Of course she did not respond. It didn't matter, I was a licensed New York driver and passed on my first try with no prior driving experience outside of my lessons with Akademia Driving School. I really owe my license to them. The instructors are amazing! The staff is super friendly. They not only taught me how to pass the test, but how drive safely and enjoy driving in the city. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants to pass the test the 1st time.

I just took a couple of classes with Akademia Driving school. From the moment I step in the driving school I felt welcome. Is a very professional environment and the staff are great. The Akademia Driving school instructor Julio and Jose made me feel confortable. I was able to learn alot with the help of the instructors. The feed back were very useful in helping me become a better driver. I recommend everyone to take there driving classes here.

I came to this school because it was extremely affordable. My first lesson i was extremely nervous, but Gelvin was my first instructor. He was patient with me and easy to talk to. I also had the pleasure working with Darwin, Yasser, Adolfo and others whom are all very good instructors. Not only did they teach me what i know today, they made my classes enjoyable. If you want to learn and have fun while doing it come to this school.

Needed to get my license finally and I shopped around for a bit. But a lot of other schools prices were pretty steep. Then I found Akademia Driving School. There prices were great. I got package number 5, which included 5 45 minute lessons, the 5-hour class, the road test appointment set-up and being able to use the schools car for the road test. The amount of lessons was perfect for me in my opinion. But all of there packages are pretty low-cost. I had two instructors. For the first three lessons was Raymond, which was awesome, very nice and PATIENT! And then I had Julio for my remaining two lessons. He was also very patient, gave great advice and always made me feel comfortable and made me believe I would pass this road test. The instructors are in general awesome. The only little negative thing I would say was the car for the road test wasn't all that. I had been driving the same car every lesson and thought this would stump me but behold I PASSED my first try and I was soooooo ecstatic! Great school, recommended it to my friends. Thanks Akademia!

I filled out the form as instructed on line and emailed it. I waited for someone to call me "as soon as email is received" as per the bottom of the form. I got this reply to my email: CALL FOR DETAILS. I called and got voice mail hell. I pressed a few buttons and waited to be transferred. Finally got some guy and explained that I already emailed my form but no one has called me. His brusque answer: "That's because we don't do that anymore. You gotta come in and register." Then he HUNG UP ON ME! Clearly we will be choosing another company. What an ass!

Amazing driving school! I signed up for a beginner package (10 lessons, 5-hour class and driving test included - they drive you to the test and back to the school) at a very affordable price. I improved very fast thanks to my two instructors, Julio and Adolfo, who were both very helpful as they provide students with advice suited to their needs. Not only do they keep their poise at all times, but they are also very friendly, which helps gaining confidence behind the wheel. I was well prepared for each part of the test (turns, parallel parking, awareness, etc.) and passed the first time, which I entirely owe to them. They also made the 5-hour pre-licensing course rather painless, as they make it a participative and dynamic class. Since I'm European, I also took stick shift lessons and was able to drive very well after only 2 lessons. Finally, they're very affordable and conveniently located in a neighborhood where it is much easier to drive, especially compared to the wilderness of downtown Manhattan. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who's looking for cheap yet effective driving lessons, and who wants to have a good time driving in the city.

I have to say, prior to my road test I was really nervous. Although, I knew how to drive, i went in to learn some more basics, and tricks of the trade. My instructor really helped me relax, and instructed me styep by step on how to pass my test. If you want quality instruction head to them. It was really hard for me to decide on a place, and once I walked in, I felt a little relieved, and once I passed, I knew it was because of them.

The classes where prompt and straight forward explaining all the small details I need to know for the test. The instructors push to raise my confidence was excellent as we all know a new driver needs all the confidence they can get. Not only was I prepared to drive any type of automobile but I was confident in my execution of driving test. Great school - convenient as well for lessons for people with 9-5 M-F work schedules. (All of my lessons were at 6 or 7pm) First lesson was August 2nd, and I had 4 total, with the last being August 18th. I had three different instructors, all were very calm and confident with my driving (re: not brake happy) and this paid off in the end because I was able to learn quick and well enough to pass my road test on August 20th (with about an hour of supplemental driving with my father). The instructors at Akademia are very professional and have many years of experience driving. With my experience, they were very patient with me and gave me useful tips to learn how to drive safely and most of all pass the road test. Instructors are good . I work for hospital and they came up with a new policy that residents working in ICU cannot get personal day off as it could affect the patient care. So I asked the driving school to change my road test date and explained them my situation but they refused to reschedule It. I do not know whether they care about emergencies or not. They refunded my remaining two classes on asking. No refund for the car for test day. My only request is please be considerate and try to accommodate at least for emergencies. And when you point out something wrong in their policy instead of correcting themselves they get mad and ask us why we put bad reviews online. I think the owner of the company is very stubborn person. Always ready to fight, is the impression that I have got so far.

I would definetely recommend this place...oh and for the person that said they can't afford rent downtown manhattan; trust me i worked years back in that same spot where this school is at now and trust me their rent im sure is not cheap.... -The staff lady can be very rude and condecending lacking in customer service skill -they don't and won't remind you of anything they will schedule you and it's all you from there I schedule all lessons for Tuesday after 2 pm because I work untill 4 am Sundays so yeah even with this information they will schedule you for the driving test on a Monday 8 am for the driving test +Can you go here and Lear to drive ,yes the instructores are good Over all just go ready to take initiative if you let them dictate you they will nickel and dime you. ....Its a business after all

Akademia Driving school is a great place to go for your driving lessons. Especially if you have no driving experience whatsoever and feel extremely nervous. I would have to thank Darwin and Jose for giving me the experience, knowledge and confidence to pass my road test. Unfortunately, I did not pass on my first try because my nerves got the best of me. But once i told Jose and Darwin my problem they made sure to help relieve those nerves by offering their patience, kindness and even a pep talk here and there. I really do appreciate the professionalism from the company and would recommend this school to anyone. My experience with the school overall was a great one. I needed my road test scheduled quickly and they were able to do that for me. Also, my instructor Julio was an excellent teacher. He made me feel comfortable and actually cared if I passed or failed. The one downside was, to reschedule a lesson I had to go in person, they would not reschedule over the phone, a bit of an inconvenience for me but then again all worth it because I did pass my test.

I recently took my road test and passed on my first try. I actually live in harlem but I went to their bronx location because it was easier to get to work and it was cheaper also it's a bit of a challenge. I took a few lessons however here in the harlem location and I have to say they are amazing from the scheduling and to the instructors. The 45 min lessons are great to have when brushing up on your parking and 3 point turn the 90 mins is great for learning to actually drive and switch lanes (good to know). I was very pleased with Wandar (hope that's how you spell his name) and Daniel. Very sweet and patient. Thank you guys for all the work you do.

Thank you Akademia Driving School, 1000 thanks to Adolfo, whom is a great instructor! Taught me everything by the rule, step by step. I took 15 lessons, and he taught me parallel parking, a technique that never fails, helped me with left and right turns, but most importantly taught me the secure way of driving, the reflexes you should constantly have when driving, to make it the safest! But the major point I have to Thank Adolfo for is to have helped me with my fear and stress of driving, I had a tendency of Rushing! And he kept on pounding me on it: Well the D Day, I did not rush and got my driving lesson! 1st time! He also guided me on what to do with my friend when driving, list of what to do and not to do. I highly recommend this driving school.. Adolfo is an excellent instructor. He prepared me for the road test which I had previously failed. I was attending another driving school and the instructor there never once corrected my bad driving habits. Adolfo explained to me all the technicalities of driving in NYC and helped me to get rid of bad driving habits. His attitude was highly professional and he found an approach corresponding to my needs (I am a nervous Nelly). His parking technique is DEAD ON. I picked Akademia because of its convenience in location. The instructors have many years of experience as teachers and drivers. I had a great experience. Lessens were very easy and right to the point. Therefore, I passed my road test. I started with the intermediate lessens then later I added 2 more just because I was not ready for the road test. The guys are very patience and very helpful. Feel free to ask them any questions and advices. I was not doing well parking and I request them to focus a little more on that and they were glad to do so. That’s the reason why I added 2 lessen at the end. I am very glad I choose this school and I highly recommended to anyone. You are also welcome to choose a designated driver if you feel more comfortable with one. I recommend Julio and Darwin. Thank you guys

Awesome experience. With the few lessons I took, I passed the test. Great tips, especially parking. If you apply what they teach you, you will pass. They have packages for everything including highway experience, you just have to pay for it. The key to passing it is to be relax and be able to drive during every situation. The reviews about how rude staff are is very much TRUE. Who can learn with a rude instructor? I wish I can give zero stars. Although the receptionist was nice, the drivers and manager were unprofessional and made me uncomfortable. I wasn't even in the car for 10 mins before the driver was blasting music, and screaming at me for making mistakes that any new driver would make. Clearly a hoodrat with zero communication skills. DO NOT GO HERE, although I didn't take the road test, my friend took his and FAILED. Do not go here, rude nasty manager & drivers, I should have listened to my friend.

I went to akademia after having a terrible experience at another school in the Bronx where after 5 classes I still had not been taught to park. My first lesson at akademia, I was taught to park and how to do a 3 point turn. The team at this location is very friendly and professional. Every instructor checked in with me after every lesson asking me if I had any questions and always asked when my road test was to make sure I was prepared. I was paired moslty with Derek and Darwin and both were exceptional young instructors with a lot of patience. 6 lessons later, I took my road test and passed ! I highly recommend this school

I had the privilege to take lessons with all three instructors Manny, Darwin and Julio and they were all great in their unique way. It was incredible as a first time driver the instructors were super cool and explained everything the way I could understand and let me try it over and over until I got it down. They were very patient and understand I took a couple of classes the week of the exam we also did a few practice exams and I passed on my first try. They know how to pass the exam and would highly recommend taking a few classes with them.

If you're looking for a good school look no further, I got a bundle with my five hour classes and 8 lessons with the road test and I passed on my first try. My instructor was patient and was really good at finding out what my problems were while driving and helped me to fix them. All in all I had an amazing experience. On the day of the test out of four of us only one of us failed, and they drove us to the test and back to the city it was great. Not only that but my instructor didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all in the car during the lesson we would talk casually about life, cars, sports and honestly that prepares you more for the road test because the proctors sometimes will do the same thing and it trains your ability to multi-task.

I got a package for semi-beginners (5-hour class, 8 lessons, and a road test appt with the car) for $360; not sure such low prices still exist anywhere in the city. I took a couple of lessons at a different school a year ago, but didn't get to a test due to the lack of time. Took lessons with Julio, Patrick, and Luis. Julio tells you step by step everything what's going to be on the test, and with him you'll get to do parallel parking perfectly on your first lesson. Patrick was also very straightforward, no sweet talk, he was even a bit intimidating at the beginning, but trust me - on the test those inspectors are much worse. Luis - he made me feel very comfortable while driving, even let me practice across Central park, sort of outside training/comfortable zone, so I was getting used to have lots of cars around me and not be afraid of them. All three guys were great!! Also ask questions. One week before my test I went online and read/watched about different reasons why people fail. And when I had a lesson I asked my instructor what I'm supposed to do if I get in questionable situations like those people who failed. The office guy whom you will prob have to deal with when signing up... he might be rude, but don't take it personally, it's just the way he is. However, any request I made for specific instructors he always made it happen, just be nice to him, and he'll be nice to you :) Also the lady who took to me the test site... She was very supportive and gave a few tips - the most important one is not to get intimidated by the inspector and his/her tone or remarks. That helped me very much to stay calm. And yeah, almost forgot to say... I PASSED from the first time! Good luck!!!

Horrible place. I didn't know information about packages and I paid for 5h lessons. I called to office,right after I discovered that there is some packages and ask to add this amount for a package. It was difference in 1h only. The manager was so rude, refused me and said that next time I should ask properly for what I want. But I didn't know,so I asked if he can give me separate other services.and answer was no because he didn't like my attitude and better I go to other school,cheaper instead of trying to save money in that school. First and foremost: If you are not Spanish, be prepared to feel left out. When you are in there, all they do is speak Spanish and have no regards for people who don't speak Spanish. No way am I prejudice, but if you are in a place where there are other races of customers, have some courtesy. Also, be prepared to give $$$$; all the owner was concerned about was receiving money, and nothing more. I was giving payments consistently, and I never was given a break. Second, the driving school was late for the road test (mind you, over two hours!). My instructor who taught me did not even come to the road test, nor did the owner. I will never go come back to this school or recommend anyone! I am now attending another driving school, and discovered I learned the wrong thing from this driving school. I was taught from Academia to put on my hazard lights to park...Let alone, I was taught the wrong thing...My new instructor said that was TOTALLY WRONG, and I am only supposed to put on my indicator when parking...Join this school at your own risk!

The lessons were straight forward and focused on what would be on the road test. Julio was friendly and knowledgable with great tips for improving. I hadn't driven in over a month and took a single lesson with Julio just before the road test. I had went to one other school in the bronx two years ago and they couldn't compare to my lessons with academia. During my first lesson they walked me step by step with what the driving testers would be looking for. They continuously asked me if i was comfortable and treated me like a real driver. I already know how to drive but let my license expire. I was trying to buy 2 lessons and a car rental for my road test here and was told I must come in to pay in person, and the lessons would not be scheduled until they were paid for. I'm busy at work all day and have a young child to care for in the evenings, so that hour or hour and a half back and forth means I have to either give up my nonexistent lunch break, or have the babysitter stay late AND leave work early (Akademia is open until 7). Akademia's website says they accept Mastercard and Visa, so I asked if they could charge my credit card, and I could email them a scan of the front and back of the credit card, my learners permit, my 5 hour course completion certificate, other photo ID such as passport, whatever they needed so I didn't have to go pretty far out of my way just to make appointments for lessons. Nope, whoever picked up the phone told me if it was too inconvenient to come in person and pay in cash I should go to a different driving school, and hung up on me. So I did! I did my lessons and test with another school that actually pays their taxes, and didn't have to waste my lunch break or neglect my child. I initially called Akademia because I took the 5 hour course there and it went fine. I was trying to give them my repeat business, because anyone in business knows it's great to have loyal customers and be a loyal customer, so you can throw each other referrals down the line. I'm a real estate agent, so I could recommend a ton of people new to the city and needing a New York license. Too bad it didn't work out and another school is getting those referrals. I see that there are some pretty defensive responses to reviews here from Akademia's owner, so I will just say this if you are reading: please take this as a constructive criticism of your business, and see it as an opportunity for you to make more money without doing any extra work. Turning away everyone who wants to book and pay over the phone is a waste. If you want to get really fancy, have people book themselves and prepay online. Setting that up would be a much better use of your desk time than responding to the poor reviews here, that's not the place to find profitable new relationships. I won't even address the required improvements in the simple etiquette of not hanging up on a customer mid-sentence, there's enough basic feedback about that already here.

The gentleman brushed us off gave us a nasty attitude and was not accommodating in any way with information or service both over the phone and in person. And this was all in just trying to purchase a package! I registered for 10 driving lessons with Akademia, and to put it simply, it was well worth it. First, their prices were affordable for people, second, the service was impeccable. Over the course of the lessons, I had 3 drivers, Julio, Darwin, and Manny. They were all really chill and easy to talk to, it was like driving with a friend! I've seen people say the manager was rude or standoff-ish, but I didn't get that feeling from him at all. He communicated with me in a respectable manner and I too reciprocated that respect back. Everyone in this school simply want you to pass the road test, they have no hidden agendas and are straight up with you. I learned so much within a few lessons that I felt like I could pass the test weeks in advance. And of course, I passed the test on my first try. Akademia driving school is truly a hidden gem in NYC. When I was looking for a driving school my two main concerns were the Package deals and the amount of success the driving school had experienced. I was truly delighted to find the Akademia driving school. Package deals were great and I was very lucky to find a such a wonderful driving school instructor named Adolfo Burgos. I have never touched a car before and now I am a licensed driver. Adolfo lets you feel confident, teaches you great techniques and definitely does it with patience. During the lessons I was able to feed off of his calm demeanor and positive words of encouragement. Yes, this the same review I put on Yelp-I'm too angry to have to write this again. I just want people to know that they should not waste their money on this business. What a waste of money! Let me start off by saying that I hate to criticize a neighborhood business, but I can't help it. This place is a joke. Lured in by proximity and price, and I signed up for lessons, since I need to drive for work. The first time I walked in should've told me something-the guy behind the desk (who I later found out was the owner) didn't even bother to get up and answer any of my questions-he seemed to bored to be bothered. Once I started taking lessons, I got several different teachers, who all gave me different advice. When I asked one teacher how far the cars in the side mirror really were to reality, I was told that there wasn't really a difference! Even I know better than that. Another told me I had no common sense, to which I replied "No, I just don't know how to drive". When I complained to the owner, he shrugged it off, and didn't even inquire as to the behavior. The five hour class was a joke, and I wasn't the only one thinking it. The owner pontificated for 20 minutes about philosophy, and got into an argument with one of the students between the difference between causation vs. correlation. Then, we watched Mythbusters, so we would know how to get out of a car in the water. Really? 20 minutes of Mythbusters? Needless to say, I didn't pass my test, and all of the mistakes I made on the test were never, ever taught to me in the lessons. I was so anxious to to take the test again, that I signed up for them to schedule the next road test, but went elsewhere for a few additional classes. Just sitting in the office for 10 minutes listening to the other five hour class taught me more than I had learned at Akedemia! I was livid. So, I went for my second road test, and lo and behold the parents following their daughter in the road test car informed us that the brake and right light weren't working. The mother called the school, asking them to bring out another car, but they said that they hadn't had a complaint about the lights, so it wasn't a problem! Plus, the gentleman driving the car didn't speak any English, so there was no way for us to communicate the problem to him. I feel really sorry for him-a bunch of angry women, and there was nothing he could do. All of the other students were complaining about the classes, and the teachers, and how the owner is rude and arrogant, and obviously couldn't be bothered to care. We all got worked up and anxious over the car not working, when we were already nervous about the test. Completely unprofessional, and the owner is self-important and rude. If I could get my money back, I would. Do not go here!

Since everyone's driving story is different let me share mine. I got my licensed in like 2001 in PA through a school. I moved to New York in 2003 and had to transfer my license which cost $40 to do so. I thought that was horrible and didn't pay it and my licensed wound up expiring. I had to do everything all over. I first went to Broadway Auto school and thought I should stick with them and "buy black" they were horrible. Then I was recommended by a 18 year old who got his licensed for the first time through Akademia. He told me he loved it there because they were very nice and that's what I'm looking for. So I put down money for the first package which gives you one lesson, 5 hour, and road test. Adolfo, although late for my lesson was such a sweet heart with his mohawk and handsome with nice eyelashes. I've always had problems with parking and he gave me his method and it worked. Two days later I had my road test appt. I didn't think I was ready but and low and behold I nailed the PARKING among other things. All in all they are cool down to earth if you are a nervous person their relax presence will make you feel comfortable. If you are experience like me they still will make sure you have all the skill to pass the test. And if you don't pass go back get more lessons and TRY TRY TRY again. After that i was told that the previous instructor was fired as well. It makes no sense if these guys were working here just a few months back. Zero score and about 7 years ago, I tried to get a driver's license. I practiced driving with family members, and took a few lessons from a local driving school.I failed the test with flying colors and never looked back. Just a month ago, under the persistent urging of some loved ones, I decided to have another go. I was a bit apprehensive about driving schools-- many of them have terrible or very mixed reviews. Akademia driving school had amazing reviews, so I chose them. I decided upon a package which included five 45 minute lessons, the 5-hour class and a car for the test. The prices were extremely reasonable. I enjoyed my 5 hour class with Louis, who was able to make it interesting by including contemporary youtube videos about drunk driving and other topics in addition to the usual 1980's driving videos. My lessons were excellent. I benefited from the careful guidance of Lenin, who was very observant but always encouraging. He taught me an amazing technique for parallel parking that makes it the easiest part of the entire driving experience. By test day, I was fairly confident. We drove to the site and, of the people in the car, I was tested first. I got a surprisingly nice lady who didn't bark at me and asked me to make a right turn, left turn, parallel park, do a k-turn etc. She gave absolutely no feedback during the exam, but when I finally pulled over, she took a look at her notes and printed out a temporary license! The exam is tricky, and it is very possible to fail the first time. Indeed, I came THIS close to failing and there is some luck involved-- a lot depends on what your tester perceives to be safe or unsafe driving. I think the few bad reviews that people gave to Akademia were from frustrated people who didn't pass and are taking their frustration out on a very fine school. I can't recommend Akademia enough. I am telling all my friends who don't have licenses about Akademia. I even butted in on some random conversation to tell people about it. You can probably find a fancier driving school somewhere, but in the end, all anyone wants is to learn to drive safely and pass the road test and for that Akademia is perfect.

This is the best driving school to go to!! For anyone looking for a driving school that offers amazing lessons this is the school you want to look into. Don't be alarmed about the neighborhood, the area is very friendly, very calm and this school offers one of the best services in Manhattan New York. I had a personal instructor whose name was Julio. On the website you can choose which package is right for you and I chose the intermediate package. This includes 5 lessons, a scheduled date for the road test and a car to use for the road test. I also was able to make my own schedule for my lessons that works best for me. Before I go into detail i want to point out, that the manager that alot of people complain about is actually a very nice guy. He is a down to earth guy and he works with you. He also makes sure you are receiving great services, he always asks how did the lesson go after you finish. So to throw it out there he is very serious to his job and very straight forward but a very nice guy. My experience was amazing at Akademia Driving School. Julio was awesome, he showed me the 5 basics steps on how to pass a road test. He showed me how to drive in traffic, parallel park, the differences of stop signs, how to stop at a stop sign, the 3.5 turn (u-turn), how to make turns correctly, check blind spots and use my mirrors. As well as how to use the automatic gear shifting and signaling before turning. I also had another instructor twice (don't remember the name sorry!) who taught me exactly like Julio did. These two instructors were amazing and have prepared me to pass my road test. I passed my road test thanks to the school and the services they offer. Also if it wasn't for my instructors I wouldn't have passed my road test. This school is perfect for anybody who is starting to learn how to drive. Any upcoming customers I recommend Akademia Driving School as your choice to take on the services. You will most certainly get above customer satisfaction in this school. GREAT DRIVING SCHOOL!! They help me throughout my classes and are very patient. They work with me through out my classes telling me what i need to improve on and we worked on it the next time i had classes. There prices are very AFFORDABLE. I RECOMMEND anyone to go to this driving school even if your're a first time driver.

I chose Akademia for the price and proximity to my home. Chief Instructor Leoni runs the 5hr class and although he denies it, he has a funny witty streak that make the hours go by. Apparently, there supposedly more than one driving instructor although I have only met and was taught by one, Adolfo. Adolfo is a wonderful teacher. He is very patient and attentive to his students. He has a calm demeanor when he is with you in the car and takes his time to teach you. He is very in tune with you as a student and addresses you according to your mood. I honestly could not have asked for a better driving instructor or school. I was very nervous taking the driving test, but under Adolfo's tutelage I aced the test. I highly recommend this school.

Akademia Driving School is a good place to learn how to drive. They make driving fun and relaxing. I gain my confidence and great driving experience when drive with Julio. The instructors all have their different teaching styles and there are always different situations on the road, so make sure you ask whatever questions you have, they are all patient to answer you. How is this school receiving an almost 5 star rating?! I haven't wasted this amount of money in a long time. The instructors barely speak English and they waste the students time by teaching them how to only drive within a 5 mile radius. The school is right by the FDR! Why aren't students learning how to merge in traffic?! That's the least they could do! My wife is currently taking her drivers test and the instructor BARELY speaks English! This is utter nonsense and I hope they disappear soon. They are taking your money while giving inadequate lessons in return! Scammers! Focus on giving your customers a better experience and leave the rebuttals to someone that can properly structure a sentence (you recently changed your sentence structure to make more sense. In reference to housing issues in East Harlem, I've worked with Community Board 11. Also, I've mentored youth from Washington and Carver houses; I'm not a yuppy. I've experienced hardship just like most of the youth in this community. Sadly, people in our community accept shoddy service but Im not the one. I have no problem speaking up about subpar service. Im sure you are a fairly astute individual and have experienced constructive criticism from peers and teachers. LISTEN to your customers! Don't play victim and try to flip the script. Akademia Driving School is YOUR business at the end of the day. If you dont implement apt customer service, its a good chance your business will FAIL in the near future.

I never leave any reviews but I had to for this place of busines. I went based on its reviews but when I got they I was disappointed and mad at the level of service that I got. The man wasn't helpful and was extremely rude!!! Didn't sign me up bc he had nothing available for the wk but when asked if anything available for the next week he said I'll have to come bk next week to find out. I then asked him if it was possible to chk he said no bc he didn't have time, he got up and left me sitting at the desk bc he had to go attend to his coffee that was getting cold. Like I said rude and not helpfu. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!###

Took two 45 min lessons with Juilo and it was great. The guy is an amazing driving teacher and he taught me how to park in less than 2 minutes. He made me feel calm when driving and went over every aspect of the road test with me. I take the test tomorrow and feel comfortable because of him. I was looking around for not just a "good" driving school, but for a "great" driving school, and I found that in Akademia Driving School. Because of the way the business looks, the customer service provided, and the driving classes, I could dare to say that Akademia Driving School might be the best choice for learning how to drive. I just passed my driving test with just two classes at Akademia Driving School; the instructors helped me understand how to drive in a clear and simple way. You might think this is a lie, but it is not, my only driving experience before was with driving simulator video games. I am so glad that I chose this school because I am sure I wouldn't have found the high quality of this school somewhere else.

At first my daughter was skeptical because they kept changing the instructor. She loved working with Jerick for his good knowledge about the road and his comfortable presence. She loved it even more when her last instructor Daniel was up and she wished he was there through all his lessons! He’s very patient and gives amazing feedback and helped my daughter pass her first time! Thank you Jerick and Daniel! I’ll be sending my son over very soon! Definitely recommend this site for first timers.

Horrible experience. I don't recommend this school for anyone. Take your money elsewhere. These people all they care about is money and not helping the students. Mainly the idiot that sits on the desk. Very rude and disrespectful. He gives me a road test for 11:45 am and calls me at the last minute to tell me it's at 8:45 am. Very unprofessional your suppose to let people know 24 hours ahead of time not at the last minute. Don't let the prices fool you. Go somewhere else period. I will never come back here. Disgusting service. I thank god I never went for the road test. I probably would've failed anyway cause of there shitty cars. God is good. This driving school hell no... I don't care if my class was there at 8:45 am. The guy gave me mixed information. What you told them is not what you told me. Once again very unprofessional... To give respect you have to earn respect. I don't respect the guy cause he don't respect many of the customers. That's not a good attitude or a healthy way to run a business...
