C1 Truck Driver Training School located in Strafford Mo, training, instructors, office staff and director are all first class. Each person handled themselves professionally and personally in a caring manner. It is difficult to pick out a single individual as being "heads above the rest". Rather I will mention those individuals that I came in contact with. Jim, classroom instructor is informative, consistent and kept each involved. Austin, Stretch, Brenda and Joe are outstanding range and road instructors. Each has their own style but their message was clear and consistent. Each fully invested their time in each student. Affirming the message. We are here to teach all that you need to know to pass your skills test and earn your CDL A. "Don't give up." "We won't give up on you." There's Danny, who took us over to Willow Springs. Surprising us with a breakfast sandwich. Ensuring that we understood the maneuver lay out. Speaking positively, encouraging and motivating. The ladies in the office. Often forgotten members of the team. Did their part. Meticulously combing through a mountain of paperwork assigned to each student. Insuring that no signatures went unsigned. All records complete. Necessary calls made and final instructions given before leaving to ensure a smooth transition. We'll end with Sam and Art. Both working behind the scenes planning, orchestrating and discussing each student and their progress. Designing motivation and additional help per individual where needed. Sam going the extra mile. Short handed Friday afternoon (7/26). Taught a CSA class to four of us that were unavailable for the class with our class mates. Also found the time to come over to the test site. To point out necessary markers to use for specific maneuvers. And to encourage me with the words. You have studied and practiced enough. Relax till it's time and just do it. On another occasion I saw Sam adjusting cones making sure that they were in the right position. Earlier in the week Art put on a BBQ/ blood drive. Like I've never seen before. The BBQ reminded of family picnics and reunions that I attended as a kid. In attendance not just students and staff. Also included blood drive workers, equipment and repair vendors, MSP Examiners, friends and family. Friday afternoon Art managed our preemployment drug screens. This following his return from Little Rock and handling some equipment issues. Art always took time to speak to each student. Showing genuine interest and heart felt caring. Finally as with all good managers. Art is directly involved through the instructors and Sam with each students progress.
I accomplished the goal that I went there to get. However had I failed. That would have been on me. Not on the school. And not the group of fine people who have accepted the responsibility to teach a life changing skill.
