I called the Horn Lake,MS campus to ask ONE, SPECIFIC question about the professional truck driver course they offer. I wanted to know if they offered AMTs to train on as well as manual trucks. There are many ppl as myself that are physically able to handle driving a truck and getting the job done, but may have disabilities with their knees that enables them to handle the psi of the manual clutch. Many other schools AND companies have already and still are moving toward AMTs. Number one reason, safety for the drivers! It allows the driver to be MORE focused on driving than shifting! There are many more pros as to why they are changing over to AMTs, such as fuel efficiency, AND it also help to draw in MORE potential drivers that may have knee disabilities OR may be too afraid of trying to handle a manual transmission and focus on driving, just because they've never driven a maunal before! I was told I had to make an appointment with admissions and come in to see, because she couldnt answer that question and there was no one available to answer it!!!!!! Don't get me wrong, the lady over the phone was very nice! Just didnt seem too enthused to gain another potential student as far as making sure I got my question answered right then OR A call back. I called to ask what I thought was of importance to me, in order to put this on the list of potential schools I'd love to attend. I heard good things about this school, reason for making the call in the first place; just hate I'm no longer interested in going there due to me having to make an appointment over a quick question!
