Have a good place for higher education

Max Briard

I spent several months visiting the physics department from another institution. From talking to them, it seems to be a bad place for aspiring students. Corruption is a thing, too, and scandals get covered up. Not a great research environment, either.

Gordon Grado

With any school its what you make it. The U of M is huge so you can't expect to have opportunities presented to you but a lot going on. Fun city although cold.

Carl Schaefbauer

No place I'd rather be.

UMN is a good place for PHD students. However, many of the undergraduate programs here suck. Chemistry and programs in Carlson are good though. If you wanna go to programs not mentioned above, AVOID UMN. The school now is trying to enroll much more undergrad students than its resource can bear so that they can get more money. I got many friends in Statistics and they told me they need to get permission numbers for getting into a stat course even the course has no students registered. Usually, above one hundred of students try to get in one stat course that only allows for 30 students to register. The faculties for undergraduate office are also trying to keep students in the U by giving more harsh requirements on Liberal education. Remember that more time you spends here, more they can get from your tuition. Although some of the professors care about undergrads, most of them do not, and some of the math and statistics courses are in very bad qualities. When I first started my studies here, I was excited about UMN. After 3 years, even I got offers from good graduate schools, I felt very disappointed about the undergrad education here. Don't be fooled by their academic rankings as that are only for PHD. Overall, the resource for undergraduate math, statistics and economy students is very pathetic.

Like any education, what you make of it gets the real results. I am in CLA, and a very specific major within it. My coursework is rigorous and combined with my own entrepreneurship I feel that I am getting an incredible education for a competitive American rate.

This is definitely a great place to get an education and experience. You will need some money or a open to significant debt, but if you can find a balance between the education and experience, this is a fantastic institution of accredited learning.

Oversized campus an undersized funds the service center and guest system and Student Union system it's ok but everything else is overpriced or way too big for some freshmen who just comes to the University of Minnesota but If anybody want to get to know somebody from Minnesota then go to the University of Minnesota! It seems like anybody who goes to the University of Minnesota either came here because of a boy or girlfriend and is going to get married and settle in Minnesota orange because of a job or free ride through scholarship funding

I have been there for non-educational visit, I have been very impressed by the University Of Minnesota in different ways. First of all it is very very big Campus. If I were a Student, I would definitely go there and see before making last decision. Another thing it is one of the best University in the USA for educational success you can go ahead and search about it I am pretty sure you'll be impressed. Last thing I want to mention about is Culture. There are different many students from different Nations which makes it perfect in my point if view. If you have mix-culture then you'll reach success easier than others.

Amazing students and buildings. Good professors (except when they decide not to show up and just let a grad student teach 95% of the time, which makes learning VERY difficult if English isn't their first language). Very nice use of green/open space. Parking can be a problem, so better to use mass transit.

If I were to do it all over again, and didn't manage to get into a good master's programme in my field, I would have gone to another school. LSE, Oxford, Michigan, whatever. If you go to this school for chemical engineering or other small academic programmes, you should be good, as you will mostly be dealing real faculty members. However, for the vast majority of the academic programmes, you will likely get a graduate student, sometimes even (yikes!) an undergraduate teaching you. Midterm and test score averages in the mid 50's are not uncommon either, nor should they come as a surprise when the quality of education is taken into consideration. For a school with an economics department in the global top 15, the way that they treat their undergraduates is an embarrassment, and academic advisors are not much better, as they basically won't care if you can't get into your classes that you need to graduate on time. Heck, they won't even have professors teach 90% of their economics classes. I'm glad I at least didn't pay out of pocket to attend this "university". I do feel sorry for my fellow students, though.

I did my undergraduate study here. The campus is very beautiful! You can see downtown Minneapolis from the school! It looks really pretty especially during Spring and Fall. It also looks beautiful in the winter, but the temperature looks scary

Transferred out due to poor quality of many courses. Felt like I was just another sheep in the classroom, and was tired of constant pushing of liberal agendas by my professors. Oh and don't even bother trying to get into the professors office hours during midterm and finals week...there are literally lines. Also, printing was not free even though I paid almost 20K tuition a year..its a no from me friends. Save your time and money. The school is too hyped up for what it is.

Do your research on employable fields, obviously, and go from there. The size of the U allows anonymity for those who want it, or intensely personal experiences through volunteering, groups, serving on boards, research opportunities, etc. I did all of those things while doing my undergrad at the U, and went on to happily accept an offer to do grad school there as well. I worked my butt off, but did end up landing an amazing job. I will be paying them appalling amounts of money well into my mid-to-late 40's, but that problem extends far beyond this one school. I have some of my best friends and memories from the U, as well as a great education. Highly recommended.

At the University of Minnesota, you will find that you have all the resources to make your college experience completely worthwhile and have a huge return on investment. However, the size and scope of the campus is overwhelming and can cause many people to believe they are just part of a degree machine. If you are willing to put in effort to build relationships with professors, make use of the countless research opportunities, and capitalize on the fact that the University of Minnesota is one of the only flagship universities with a major metropolitan area in its backyard, then this school is the place to be. I recommend it to anyone.

U of M is so big that it's a puppy mill education. You will not get a shred of personal attention for your development. U of M supplies a list of class you take, you take them, they give you diploma. There aren't any other frills, that's it. Take your generals at a community college and save money, because they're nothing special, you get a TA (Hurray right? You get some student teaching you). If you go here, take the Study Abroad option. At least then you can get some real professors who have to stay on top of things in the field you're entering.

All other things being fairly standard in terms of engineering programs at state schools, I've been very disappointed by the limited access to tools and lab space. All students at Century Community College have regular access to lathes, CNC mills, CNC router, 3D printers, laser cutters, and more. I pay twice as much, but it's several tomes more difficult to gain access to the tools I need to learn and be familiar with as an Engineer.

If you don't get weeded out in your first two years, you will enjoy the upper level courses. The best years were in junior and senior years where I interacted closely with accomplished faculty and their research. They don't give away degrees at this school. The University demands that you be resourceful and if you are used to being babied you will not survive this school or life, for that matter. I have the U of MN to thank for giving me the career I have.

I love this school, the campus is great, the transportation system is stellar, but it is missing one thing. For some reason, the University shuts down the air conditioning in the residence halls. My room is currently hotter than Satan's living room. My window is open, my fan is on, the door is open, and yet I still can't keep my chocolate from melting. Sure it tastes better melted, but it is a heck of a lot messier that way. Just once do I want to rest my head on my pillow after a long day of classes and other joyous activities without sweating. It is gross. I just want my chocolate to not melt.. I like chocolate... a lot.

Haven't even started attending yet and things already suck. Lots and lots of people running into problems with the U not providing enough space for popular classes. After paying $6.8k ($800 in fees) I expect to be able to get into my classes. Apparently I have to adjust those expectations.

I graduated from this University. It is one of the top ranked research institutions in the country. Their pharmacy school is ranked second in the nation and believe me they deserve it. Excellent instructors and facilities. You are treated with respect by your professors. The campus is beautiful and the student body friendly. There are a lot of great things about the UMN (e.g. large variety of departments and programs), but there are also some very mediocre aspects. My best advice is to do your homework. Look into the program you're interested in very closely. In the end, regardless of the quality of the institution, it's up to you to make it a learning experience for yourself....although it certainly makes a difference on your experience whether or not you have the institutional support.

Rosh Tilbury

The UMN Twin Cities is one of the best universities in the world. The main campus is located just a couple of miles away from downtown Minneapolis and it is so beautiful. It is also considered a “Public Ivy.” If you are hungry for knowledge and motivated you will get all the resources you need to grow at this wonderful university. Several of its academic programs are ranked highly in the US. The university has light rail service which in fact is modern and sophisticated. As a result, commute to campus is convenient from both downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul.

Panje Nambao

I just got a mini tour of one side of this huge campus. The rooms are so comfy for a uni. Tiny kitchen and a bathroom you share with another person if you're in a single. Really nice.

There classrooms are big which is helpful for competitions for science Olympiad and they had some pretty cool things there too

In other words, do the lines and dots flowing from the nib of a pen have an artistic qualification? In this respect, it is worth thinking deeply. Pen art begins from an essence of nature ’s fundamental values. From the standpoint of value, or color, a harmony of black and white is essential in nature. As it is impossible to see any color in darkness, distinguishing color is an essential role of light. That is why the soul is drawn to light. Whiteness, or light is a spiritual reflection of the soul while blackness, or darkness is a reality of life on earth. As the color green is an essential color of vegetation, burnt charcoal is an earthy color that will stay near black. Blackness is heterogeneous and may be hostile to life. If blackness belongs to the essence of nature, it also may be said to represent the image of death. A combination of black and white constitutes degrees of lightness and darkness. When painting black on a white background, the soul is transported to the white background. Whiteness comes to life when contrasted with black line and black space. In this case, soul also may be expressed through the blackness. Soul may be transported to the black or a combination of white and black, which shed a mysterious merit to the soul or spirit. Pen arts starts and ends from an essence of nature ’s fundamental contrasts. The primary essence is infinite and eternal while the artistic harmony of black and white can take one ’s breath away. "Lee young jun PEN ART General" (General Information: Korea) PEN ART (Korea) ------------------------------------------- The infinity of lines and points is symbolic. Its symbolism varies according to the depth of the mind. All works are so. Because they are changeable, they lead to indescribable expression. Thus the depth of art is infinite. Is there any depth in the art of pen? In general, the lines and dots from the tip of the pen Will it be possible to have artistry? You need to think deeply about this. Pen's art begins with the nature of the fundamental colors of nature. From the essence of color, the harmony of black and white is the fundamental of nature. As you can't see the color in the dark without lighting It is the intrinsic function of light that makes it possible to distinguish colors. Because of this, the spirit is drawn in the white light. White or light is a mixed image of spirit. Natural color is black. As green is the intrinsic color of the plant Burned charcoal is an essential color that remains black. There can be no movement of life in absolute darkness. Black is heterogeneous and hostile to life. If black is the essence of nature, black is the spiritual image of death. Contrast is achieved when white combines with black. If you paint black on a white screen, it will be transferred to the white screen. When it encounters a black line, a black face, white resurrects. You can express spirit through black. Spirit is the only thing that can be imported into black, and the colors of spirit and soul are black and white. When combined, it is mysterious. And the art of the pen is the nature of the fundamental colors of nature It starts from and ends at the fundamental nature of color. The fundamental essence is infinite and eternal, and the harmony of black and white is artistic. You can breathe alive enough. It has been refined and completed over time It must be possible after this is achieved, and a perfect melody containing the soul must be premised. The spirit world is created only when the noble and vivid melody in the harmony of black and white enters the spirit on the white screen. That is the art of a true pen. Universities are a place to learn, people pay money to be taught material relevant to their future careers. Classes now are polluted with politics, teachers lording over their students opinions, and whiny so called feminists.
