A terrible experience. The instructor for the road test was extremely rude. My nephew was nervous anyway and it doesnt help when the instructor is mean and rude. It's not hard to be kind. It's hard enough for kids to take their test without the instructor being nasty. Would not recommend courtesy to anyone and we will NEVER use this company again.

At the segment 2 driving course at the Oxford high school, the driving instructor did not do much to explain what was going on. We took a test and the students were allowed to look up all the answers and he didnt really care. The instructor then passed around a booklet and said we would need it for reference. Hr passed one out and we didnt get to keep it. I went to two different classes because of work. The first instructor was nice to me and helped me pass the test and told me what to do. The other instructor flat out didnt care. After looking at the reviews for the driving test I might as well go somewhere else. I don't feel like getting scammed.

I don't even know where to start. There is an older instructor there in his 70s and a friend of mine claims he touched her inappropriately. He denies it. I know one thing, I would never send my kid there. I also heard he body shamed this poor girl after class and told her she needs to be on a diet! I'm livid about this horrible instructor. This place needs a serious makeover. I'm close to contacting the BBC and a lawyer. I'll do whatever It takes for someone to hear me and stop ignoring me. This type of discrimination is not what the world needs.

I would give them a 0 if it was a choice. The owner, Brandon, must not care that these ratings are real, from real parents and students. My son was a student and drove with Kathy. She has terrible reviews for a reason. I wish I never gave them a dime $380 too late. She was so rude, never greeting us. Waved us with her FINGER from her car so she didn't have to get out in the cold. She gave us 0 idea as to what rules are while driving or even a nice chat as to good luck toward my son. I, as the mother spoke and she rudely cut me off. I made a comment about it being rush hour. She was a miserable person who should not be working with people. At the end she said I may speak about anything, weather, sports, just not talk about his driving(should have said this in the beginning?!)The manager said she has only not passed 4 students out of 44,000. No I didn't hear that wrong. Who are they passing then. Big tippers? My son drove rush hour, smooth, perfect speed in horrible traffic ect. They apparently all lie at Courtesy and the owner Brandon just wants our money. She didn't pass him and was rushing to go home to say as of why. The manager I spoke with said he did things that Kathy blatantly lied about. As a parent I want my son to be safe. If he wasn't ready I would understand. This was a money trap. The ratings are real. They are the worst school for real reasons.

Courtesy did a great job teaching my child. The communication from the start was clear and thorough. The classes taught my child everything that was required by the State. No issues with the driving time. They have some pretty high standards for the final road test to get your license, as it should be. I want my child to be a safe driver.

Had 6:15pm road test yesterday Sunday 09/08 for my daughter. Arrived 5:50pm and wait until 6:35pm, no instructor shown up. Called the office, nobody answered. That's the only phone number we are given, so we left. Then around 7:10pm, the instructor Karen called my cell phone, saying she is late with the previous test, and we are No Show. I was angry and shocked. Angry because she pointed everything as our fault. Shocked because if you left the site, no matter how long passed your appointment time, it is no show. Today I contacted the office. After verification, the office explained to me what they can control, what they can't, and I changed my review from 1 star to 2. But I have decided to use another company for my daughter's road test. I have to say those office ladies are helpful during my reservation and follow up on this issue, but that won't change the negative interaction with the instructor. In the end, I think it is a good thing not taking the test with this instructor.

I took the course down in Ferndale this summer, and was quite satisfied with my experience. The teacher was surprisingly patient with me in the car considering the amount of "close calls" I had while behind the wheel. Would definitely recommend this course to those in the area.

I agree that this company is just terrible. This is my second child going through the ‘program’. I told myself never again (for the road test) friends say don’t do it and reviews for all locations are horrible. Because of convenience I booked for road test anyhow going against my better judgment. My father in law was needed to take my son, I followed the offices instructions PERFECTLY of what they told me. But according to them I needed a completely hand written letter, not typed like I had provided with the handwritten signature. Ridiculous. If she told me to write it, I would have. All other paperwork was provided. But how quickly they took $30 cash and didn’t let him go behind the wheel. No refund. They won’t email anything to you for requirements of what they need, only verbal, which makes me think no proof for me and they get more money. The woman who takes complaints was rude from the beginning, kept saying ‘state law’. But I promise you, I was never told to hand write the entire letter. Shady, shady and shame on them. But they quickly offered me to sign up and pay again in 3 days. Please note: the classroom instructors are just fine. I do believe the video day from 1980 could be update, but nice teachers. But ROAD TEST instructors, and company morals and values should not be given the business. My need recommendation, drive to Waterford for a different company. Professional and smart!!!!

I was very impressed by the professionalism of the friendly staff member who scheduled the test. I am incredibly DISAPPOINTED in the gruff and condescending nature of the driving instructor/ assessor of the Port Huron site. As a grown professional woman, his barking about me, "needing a pen to sign his form", and giving instructions quickly to my daughter sent both of our anxiety rates up before she even began the test. He was rude, cold and seemed to enjoy his power. I am a teacher. If I used his militant voice, when I addressed my students, their performance would suffer. Mike's anxiety inducing persona is hands down the reason my daughter made a few mistakes. I am very confident in her driving ability. She has safely driven me around for over a year. I am fine with her taking the test again. I am not disgruntled by her failure. I would not use Courtesy again in the future at this location, as Mike is the only assessor. I think he chose the wrong job for his personality. He needs to remember a smile and a warm greeting can make a world of difference.

If I could give zero I would!! They are a joke!! My daughter took segment 1 through this company and she never had a full class time instructor always cut out early!! And never had a full drive time again instructor cut out early!! Never had a drive time in the afternoon when people were actually on the road always started her drive at 6am and we live in a small northern Michigan town.. instructor lost the keys to the car one morning after getting to the meeting spot.... Lost drive time for my daughter!! And to think that we paid $290.00 FOR THIS!! NEVER AGAIN will I use this company!! Would not recommend it to anyone else either!!

I have used Courtesy Driving School for all three of my children and have had outstanding experiences throughout segment 1, 2 and the road tests for each one of them. Whenever we had questions the office staff was very professional and helped every way they could. The instructors (my kids took classes at different locations due to class timing) were all friendly and seemed to really care for the students. The examiners for the road tests were very fair and did a good job explaining what needed to be worked on going forward for each one of my children. Overall, I am very glad we used Courtesy and would recommend them to anyone because they did a great job with my family and a nice cherry on top is that they were always the lowest price and would give you a discount if you had to retake a road test which is not the case with any other company we checked with.

I don’t even want to give it a star at all! I called to schedule my son’s driving test and ask when their first available appointment was. And she said she can’t tell me that because some lady called me for me to confirm an appointment and she got mad at her. That has nothing to do with scheduling an appointment! So I said well I need to know when your first available is so I can see if it fits in my schedule and she said I can’t do that and less you have his drivers permit in your credit card with you. No way in hell am I going to give you my information if your appointment doesn’t work in my schedule! This place is a joke

Kind staff, fairly priced, compassionate owner. Courtesy is Michigan’s #1 driving school they’ve been in business since 1970! It absolutely shows. They are by the book, informative, and extremely personable. Everyone who writes a bad review is just mad their kid didn’t pass the class or road test. They forget it’s the STATE OF MICHIGAN’S rules and regulations - Courtesy just enforces the rules. Any company who doesn’t follow the rules gets shut down that’s why courtesy has been in business so long. I’d rather have my family learn from the BEST in the business rather than a company who is just looking to pass them through.

Had to reschedule a road test due to an emergency that happened while we were there waiting for the instructor in the parking lot and I had to leave in an ambulance with one of my kids. I was charged a no-show fee and told I would have drive to a testing site to catch one of their instructors in between their appointments and prepay them in cash before they let us reschedule because they “want to make sure we're going to show up”.

This place is so unorganized it’s insane. Go somewhere else to test!! Can’t even reschedule unless I still pay for the test and have to take a money order to the main office!! Who has time to drive around for 2 hours to pay $25 to schedule a road rest. Horrible customer service.

My son has Autism/Asperger's. He took private driving lessons through Courtesy Driving School with Leonard Swatkiewicz. Leonard did an amazing job teaching my son, and my son loved driving with him! Leonard was very knowledgeable, thorough, patient, kind, and gave us a thorough report after each lesson. Leonard went out of his way to help my son learn to drive, and my son passed his road test on his first attempt!
