Really good Driving School. Perfect palce to start driving course. The place is close to umd campus. The class provide free drinks and snacks. The teachers here are also super friendly and helpful. Taking driving courses in Maryland is annoying. But this place makes this program much easier!

I am here for sharing my wonderful experience about taking Drivers Education Program in Shepherds Driving School. My English is still not good but I would like to write here to tell you what I get from this school. The first day that I registered at school, Ms. Evon was so kind. She explained to me very well and made sure I understand before I pay her. The room is clean and organized. All the instructors there are kind and friendly. My instructor or Ms. Evon was so helpful. She is indeed following all the rules and regulations of operating a driving school by the MVA. She is professional. She always make sure I understand her because my English is still need to improve. This is very important for me, I expected that the teacher understand the student as well. In classsroom, 36 hrs I learned a lot. The lessons were very helpful—step-by-step, they are all important information (knowledges) that MVA provided (for Maryland). When you take the break, they have hot coffee, hot tea and water, they are free. For the people who still do not take the learner permit test. I recommend you to take the class here first. YOU WILL PASS! Make sure you concentrate when your teacher is teaching you too. So I hope my experience that I shared with you here will help you, I know everyone want to study at the best school. Choosing this school you will be happy and ready to go for the road test.

overall i had a great experience at shepherd driving school .i had Mr.Daves as my teacher and he is really good at explaining stuff that i was maybe in doubt or just sumply confused about and i also had Ms.Yvonne as my Behind the wheel instructor And she also did a great job at teaching me .she has alot of patients so if you dont get it once she will keep on helping you til you get it right. NO TOLERANCE FOR SHORT CUTS. You must complete your 2 weeks classroom sessions and 6hrs drive sessions. Overall nice and classroom, good teaching and group discussions on real life situations when driving. They are indeed following all the rules and regulations of operating a driving school by the MVA. It sad to see you both talk about Mr. Smith, Ms. Yvonne and her instructors this way. After all they did for you all, teach and train you guys for both classroom and behind the wheel. Leena Gasim Mohamed your behavior and your moms behavior was not good towards Ms. Yvonne. For your mother to threatened a school owner that she will file a lawsuit against her, just because of the discussions on the maryland drivers manual on things that can cause distraction when driving. You guys ripped her MVA document out during FINAL EXAMS. You guys told the rest of the class to do it. I did because you leena told us to do it. Ms.Yvonne did not say a word but took pictures of it as evidence. Would you guys do it at other driving schools?. I see this useless. Gurl, you need a bbbiiiiigggg help. Sad, these people provide you all, free, coffee, tea, snacks and all you guys do was eat and eat. throw trash in their classroom, take chocolate and candies home. ieeessh?, ambaa kids dont fear God these days. 真的还是换个驾校上吧！ translate：pick another driving school I went to this school 3 month ago and I still don’t get my driver license. They took a long time to schedule btw session. I gave them my schedule for btw session at the last day of class and they said they did not get it. I called them 3 weeks later and they told me they tried to class me, text me and email me but I didn’t get it. Therefore, they knew they made mistakes but they were still irresponsible. I texted them everyday and I took 4 hours class in 3 weeks. After that, I waited for 2 weeks during spring break at home to finish last 2 hours class. 15 days later, I was told their school was suspended due to illegal issue and I had to transfer to another school. They sent our class record to MVA and MVA told me they gonna spend months to classify our records and then send them to us. Don’t take driving class here. I don’t want to be mean but it’s true. They called me and tried to ask me to change the review. They said if I want to finish the class quickly, I should call mva and it’s not their fault.LOL

I had a very good time attending this driving school. Mr and Mrs Vodi, the owners are very courteous and friendly people. My instructor was also patient with me and explained everything clearly. The classroom environment is neat and friendly, there was free coffee and snacks :-). Mrs Vodi, my classroom instructor is very nice, professional and knowledgeable, I learnt a great deal about driving safely and defensively. I would recommend Shepherd Driving School to anyone looking to attend one.

Where will i start from, Is it from the serene, conducive & well ventilated learning classrooms at Shepherds or the brand new automobiles at their disposal, or the ever ready lunch snacks that got me covered, when my stomach is rumbling.... I have never been in the driver's seat of a vehicle before, until i went to Shepherds, i have always been the passenger, I mostly felt driving a car would feel like me launching a satellite to pluto, until I met the ever ready Instructor known as Mr Smith, but i like to call him pastor Smith. How can i ever forget Mrs Yvonne vodi, an excellent, skillful & an all round professional to the core, the class courses she took are still ringing in my head, with all the explanatory details, videos & take home pamphlets that were given, i feel like i'm the best driver ever to walk this planet, just cos of the way i was tutored by mrs Yvonne vodi, believe you me, the driving school class was that good. Did i mention the fact i had a private & well coordinated driving session with Pastor Smith?? Mehn, the sessions were so thorough for a novice like me, i felt if i hadn't had the private lessons with Pastor Smith i would have been a quack driver & a fresh fish for the county, state & federal patrol police. I went to the MVA today and i aced my skill driving test, even the examiner felt like giving me a hug for a good job well done, i could go on & on about how good & magical my experience at Shepherds driving school was. All in all Shepherds driving school is the best driving school in the whole of DMV, probably the best in the east coast of the United States. Mehn, I aced my road test for the first & final time & it definitely felt so good, it wouldn't have been possible without the guidance of both Mrs Yvonne Vodi & Pastor Smith, i can't thank them enough, i am forever grateful for their help, counsel & sagacious way of passing a message across to new driving students. I couldn't have gone to a more professional & highly dynamic driving school like shepherds, so glad Google map introduced shepherds driving school to me. This is the best driving school! I highly recommend it to everybody. The instructor is very patient and encouraging. Every class is well prepared. You will be able to learn a lot on how to drive safely and defensively. The most unforgettable part is the behind the wheel session. English is not my first language, but the instructor tried everything she can to give me a comfortable, secure, and encouraging environments for me to learn how to drive safely. The instructor will show you the details in how to driving safely. They are pretty professional and designed the route of the behind the wheel session clearly. Their cars are brand new, everything is in great conditions.

I was given the name Shepherd's Driving School as a referral however, as I called to find out if the driving school has a weekend class that my daughter could attend. I spoke with Yvonne whom stated that she was the owner. I inquired about pricing and proceeded to ask if the school also took the students to MVA for their testing and received the response that "this is a business there is a extra cost for that" I then in returned responded that I understood that this is a business however, my question was "do you take the children up to MVA for their testing?" Ms. Yvonne was very rude in the manner that she spoke. I would not send my daughter to this driving school in order to have her mistreated or spoken to in this manner. If you speak to me as an adult in this manner you will treat my daughter whom is a minor worst. Customer Service is a Huge Part of Business. Why would I subject my daughter to someone that is disrespectful to me let alone her. If you want (my) business treat me with respect and show me customer service.

I would have given more than 5 stars to Shepherds Driving School, if it was possible. Mr.Smith and Ms.Yvonne are two of the best and most patient teachers I have ever had in my life. Not only were they amazing as teachers but also they were very kind towards the students and constantly kept encouraging all of us. I had never driven before in my life when I joined the school in March and as of today I have my provisional license. Great experiences in Shepherds Driving School. Thanks a lot to Mr. Smith and Ms. Yvonne!!! I have an out-of-country license and I spend 6 hours training with Mr. Smith. He is very knowledgeable and he instructed me with the details for driving skills and road-test skills. Before I go to the driving school, I passed the knowledge test first in MVA and then I spend some time driving on the road with my friend Lucy who has a US drivers license. Thanks Lucy! But still I think I need some professional training especially for the skills that needed for road-test and driving. One day when we are practicing in a parking lot, we met Mr. Smith and he gave me the school's advertisement card. The school locates next to the UMD campus, and there are some UMD shuttle stops near it, which is convenient for UMD students who wants to go to a driving school. When I decided to take the test, I stop by the driving school and schedule my training hours with Mr. Smith. During the training, I can see I'm driving better and in a safer manner. Today I just get my Maryland driver's license! I will keep on enhancing my driving skills and drive defensively. Just as what Mr. Smith said, "Safety comes first." If you need some practices before the driving test or if you need to learn how to drive, try Shepherds Driving School:)

Hey. Just saw the review folks had been given about SDS. Maan this is totally wrong and unacceptable. I took driver's ed at this driving school and i will never regret it. Ms. Yvonne, she is a super instructor for both behind the wheel and classroom. She always made are student laugh and feel comfortable both in classroom and behind the wheel. I have never been at a driving school that give away free coffee, tea, snacks, etc. worse of all take you to see some of the controls in their car. Mr. Smith is an awesome mentor, as he knows alot about mentoringship. I took 12 hours practice with him and i was very grateful for his intellectual as he is sooo knowledgeable. These are two professional people and they know how to handle their administration very well especially Ms. Yvonne. as she always try her best to work with her student. Well, copies of records are given to all of us at the end of classroom and btw lessons as this she said during orientation that it's mandatory by the MVA. At shepherds driving school there is NO SHORT CUT. it's both the MVA's way and the driving school. Am surprised about peoples comment on these too good people. I can't believe people were waiting for thier driving school to be shut down. Maan, she is tough and as she have said, that her policies and the MVA's policies stands, she will not back down. My heart reach out to them today and I know their driving school will keep moving. HIGHLY RECOMMEND SHEPHERDS DRIVING SCHOOL. Love & Respect you all!

Great experience overall, the instructors know their work and the vehicles are brand new and comfortable (Toyota Corolla). I took 4h of classes (I had an out of country license), I scheduled the road test at the MVA, went there with the school's vehicle and the instructor and passed with flying colors. If you want to learn how to drive good, safe, and if you want to pass straight away, Shepherd's is your school!

My name is Andrea lol. I just wanna thank Ms. Yvonne for everything that she has taught me I really appreciate it. I had a great time these past 2 weeks and I have learned a lot. Thank you for making sure that I had my Reverse-Two-Point-Turn down pack. Today I passed my road test and I couldn’t have done it without Ms. Yvonne, so thank you! Everyone that works at Shepherds Driving School is awesome! So I just wanna say thanks again and I definitely recommend this driving school for anyone who is currently looking for one.

PART 2: From then on, Ms. Yvonne ignored me every day in her class. She went off on ridiculous tangents like how she is "from the Sun" and how Mr. Smith is her "Ghanian dark chocolate", with the biggest emphasis on how she is "definitely" a US citizen (no one ever asked). She even moved my seat in her class several times for no reason. Eventually, I grew extremely frustrated and decided to involve my mother, an adult, to handle the situation. One night, after class my mom came in to speak with them. Mr. Smith, already aware that she was coming, left during my class and when I called him to ask where he was, he said he'd "be a while." So we waited. Eventually, he showed up. We sat down in his office and he called his wife in, to which she said she "doesn't have time." He begged her to join us, calling her "babe" the whole time. Eventually she came in, sat down and before she said anything, she pulled out her cameraphone, began recording, and stuck it in my mother's face. My mom responded by saying that Ms. Yvonne does not have permission to record us. She said, "You're in my office. I do what I want." I told her that her office is not above the law and that she cannot record us, she immediately got up to "call the police", but Mr. Smith begged her not to. She finally came back but continued to record us, so I recorded her. She told my mother an extremely ridiculous, fictitious story (anyone in my class can and has attested to this) about how I took pictures of her quizzes (it's driving school, why would I ever need your quizzes again? I passed every almost every quiz with a 100%) and how I was a "ringleader of rebellion." She claimed that I told all of my classmates to rip up their driving school documents, inciting "chaos" When asked why I was moved for no reason, she told my mother that she did it to "protect" me from the "bad influence" of one of my friends from school. She said that I "violated" the "Bill of Rights." She started yelling at my mother, telling her that she "failed" as a parent. My mother said, "We came here to have a civil conversation." Ms. Yvonne, thinking that "civil" denotes "citizen" thought my mother was accusing her of not being a US citizen, so she immediately pulled her US passport (which she probably carries with her everywhere she goes, what has she been through?) out of her desk, raised it in the air, and shouted "I am a US citizen too!" (I am not even joking!!!) Then, she shouts "See you in court!" several times. Someone buy her a dictionary for Christmas. Eventually, my mother realized that Ms. Yvonne was absolutely insane and attempting to argue with her was like talking to a brick wall. In the end, she begged her husband to "remove" me from their driving school, but he insisted I stay (refunding me was a last resort). So from then on, she declared that she would no longer be dealing with me, and gave her husband that duty. I passed my final with a 96%. I came in for my SCHEDULED (by them) behind-the-wheel lesson and she tried to send me home because SHE never sent me a confirmation text, only an e-mail. I told her that this issue was their fault, not my own. She said "Remember: Mr. Smith deals with you now, not me." My driving instructor, the one who would be in the car with me (a "new" employee she claimed she hired especially for me…I know, I'm so powerful!), witnessed her behavior and agreed that I was being treated unfairly. Eventually, they had to send someone else away to accommodate me. I had never seen a grown woman act so childish, not even the girls at my high school do petty stuff like this. When we got in the car, my instructor said that he was shocked by her behavior and promised to take care of my paperwork because he suspected that she would try to fail me (which she did). During one of my lessons, my driving instructor FELL ASLEEP while I was driving. One minute he was giving me instructions, the next minute he was SNORING. A friend of mine had the same driver, and the same exact experience.

Shepherds Driving school was already undergoing an investigation on the date I registered and shouldn't have created a legal liability to me knowing they could not actual provide the services I paid for. They were shut down LITERALLY days after I finished the course and every time I called to schedule BTW they lied and told me they just didn't have enough instructors and they'll notify me of when they do. After months of waiting I visit the location to hear that they had been shut down and I just had to wait like they were until they operated again. That's when I called the MVA and they sent my documents now I am still awaiting my refund. Also, incase Ms. Yvonne attempts to say I didn’t go to her class, I have her Voicemail saved in my phone from 2 months ago when. her husband decided to yell and scream at me for requesting a refund and calling me a liar for telling him he never advised me that the location was closed.

Hi, yesterday was my last time for BTW. It was great. Thank you so much for my great instructor, 'Mr.Wilfred' He has a very nice techniques for teaching you in the parking. He is calm and kind. Two point turn is the one in the Road test so I would like to recommend you to go BTW with Mr.Wilfred or go to take private car with Mr.Smith. They both are good. Mr.Wilfred is available on Monday and Tuesday. And Thank you so much again to Shepherds Driving School.

I had a chance to register for class. Took the 36hours Driver's Education class at Shepherds Driving School. It was a wonderful experience. Very clean classroom. Professionalism. Ms. Yvonne "owner" and her husband Mr. Smith are two wonderful people. Ms. Yvonne was an amazing teacher. I learnt a lot from her. Overall, thanks to the wonderful instructors and the encouragement I had during the 2 weeks session. My Behind the wheel experience with their instructors was great. For those of you new to driving and not sure where to go, run, don't walk, to Shepherds Driving School. I can assure you there in no one better in the entire DC Metro area. My brother and I have both graduated from here, and we can both testify Ms. Vodi, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Davis are excellent and skillful teachers. Besides being very clear and effective with the class course, they are very inspiring behind the road as well. I plan to get my license at last with their help; the only thing I regret about them is that they weren't open ten years earlier. P.S: In addition to the standard MVA course, you can pay them to give you private driving lessons at a most reasonable price.

I first want to point out that at the end of the course the school offers money (~$10) to write a 5 star review on google, so keep that in mind when reading all the 5 star reviews. Second, most of the other one star reviews give a good overview of what you will witness/experience when participating in the SDS program. During my experience at SDS I had issues communicating with Mrs Yvonne about scheduling and payment but I won’t go into that. The main takeaway you should get from these reviews is that Mrs Yvonne is very stubborn and this may lead to conflict. The one good thing about the SDS program is that Mrs Yvonne works hard to try to get you through the in car lessons as fast as possible. So if you are looking to get your license fast and are willing to put up with what you will experience then I would recommend SDS (keep in mind that I am not sure if this is still valid, as another review mentioned legal issues slowing down the process). Note: I see that when faced with negative reviews, the school (truthfully or not -- and I am inclined to believe it’s mostly the latter) often claims that they never had the reviewer in their class. I was in Mrs. Yvonne’s class, but must resort to using a false name because 1 year and 4 months ago I saw Mrs Yvonne shame a student in class for writing a 1 star review. She printed out the review and read it out to the students who were in class with the “offending” student when she was kicked out for asking for more information about spurs. (Also note, the “school” disputed the review in question and it has since been removed from Google.)

I took the Drivers Education Program here and have really liked Shepherds Driving School. Ms. Yvonne (who runs the school) and her husband Pastor Vodi are extremely warm and friendly and just all around wonderful people. The same also goes for the other instructors I have interacted with. The classroom facilities are clean and new and the cars are all recent/new models (I believe 2016 and 2017 Toyota). This driving school is also easily accessible by walking if you live in the College Park area. All in all, Shepherds Driving School is an excellent driving school and I would highly recommend it!

I highly recommend Shepherd Driving School (SDS) for the purpose of the road test. How amazing that I passed the road test, but for one month before going to this school, I have not known how to drive in the US and I don’t even have my own car for driving practice! SDS will help you in every step of the way, you can leave your worries behind even though you come alone. Here are what this school helps me. First of all, this school is certified by MVA and they follow the MVA rule strictly. This means that the school meets the MVA standard, and you won’t waste your time and effort you put into this school. The school’s prize is reasonable, and they have a discount if you are a student too. The school schedule is flexible as you can switch the class between morning and evening sessions with no problem. Also, you can tell them the time you are available for your road practice, and they will try to manage their time to meet your satisfaction. Secondly, the SDS team (the owners, Ms. Yvonne and Mr. Smith) are expertise in driving. They are professional instructors. They know what you have to do to pass the road test. Also, they are so kind, humorous, and they always encourage students to drive safely. I started the process by studying 30hr-class with Ms. Yvonne. She has taught every detail about driving since the very basic to advance which made me who have very little knowledge about driving become the person who knows the components of the car, the rules of the road, and how to drive defensively. Ms. Yvonne’s words “Come to a complete stop when you see the stop sign” are still in the back of my head! This class is the key to pass the knowledge (law) test provided by MVA. After passing this intense class, you will feel much confident on the knowledge test day. I practiced behind the wheel (BTW) with Mr. Smith for 10 hrs. I would say he’s the secret weapon for passing the road test. He knows the test route and everything that MVA will test you both closed and public road. He will teach you how to apply what you have learned in the class on the road. With his experience, you will know how to steer the wheel, cover the brake gently and smoothly, change lane safely, keep the proper following distance, and most importantly, drive safely. Mr. Smith knows the speed limit of every road around the Beltsville MVA! That’s why the students from this school succeed in the road test. I used the school car both for practice and the road test which is new, clean, and working properly. Finally, I paid the school for 3hr-trip to MVA which helps me feel more relaxed on the test day. SDS team knows every step you need to do for the road test, and they will be with you until the examiner comes to the car! Thank you, Abby (the last word you said to me “Relax” made me feel literally relaxed!). This team is wonderful, I feel so warm and relaxed when I was super stressed on the test day. The road test is exactly the same what I have practiced with Mr. Smith, and there are 6-7 stop signs (Beltsville route) I need to come to a complete stop like what I learned in the class. This is the perfect combination system that this school has to offer for you. There are more details that I would like to write about, but you will gain much more insight if you come to contact these people and see the atmosphere of the school by yourself. Please go visit Shepherd Driving School for your efficient way to pass the road test. Like Ms. Yvonne said since the first day of her class, “We will walk with you” and they absolutely do. When I was looking for proper driving school in the college park, the positive reviews at here, encouraged me to choose this school finally. Now after finishing the 36hours program with Shepherd, here I want to share my review as well. It was great experience for me in general. For people who are student at university of maryland, the location of school is great. 15 mins from center of campus. The class prices are lower than other well know schools in the area, indeed there is a discount for student. Two weeks classes was pretty fun and not boring according to well prepared teaching plan of the instructor. She has a master degree from UMD, and she knows alot. They are really kind and respectful to students The cars are in mint conditions and the instructors are patient and look for their students And finally, there are always free drinks and snacks!
