This organization is supposed to be educating students to be global citizens. Instead they stood in the beautiful gardens of this treasured piece of Spain’s history and sang the United States national anthem. I was appalled by them and embarrassed to be an American. They should have been more sensitive to the places they are visiting. Imagine if a group of foreigners were at the Lincoln memorial or Gettysburg or the 9/11 memorial and disrupted those there to relish in the moment by singing THEIR national anthem. Americans would be furious. This is not how you teach students to be global citizens.
