I just conquered the Katlaw truck driving school experience. It is true that you have to put the work in on the yard and at home but, I think that rule will aplly at any school you attend. Great staff ( yard instructors) they do exactly what they are suppose to do, nothing more nothing less. Front office staff are a big help as well. Bri helped me a lot, she really went out of her way to help me out when I needed her the most. Thank you Bri, also I want to thank Gabby, Jessica, and Ms. GWENDOLYN. These are all great people. Katlaw is the way to go.

My experience with Katlaw was awesome I had doubts in the beginning because of my lack of experience but your (Staff) is great.

Jennifer Berry

I️ attend school there is 2016. I️ passed the written exam with no problem. The trucks suck and it didn’t help that I️’m 5’0. The seats wouldn’t even adjust. We had to wait in line to do maneuvers. Too many students and not enough trucks or instructors. Long story short I didn’t finish out the course. They still made me pay for the whole course which was some bull.

Cody Ryan

I just received my class B cdl, and everyone here did a great job instructing me. Mrs. Helen did an awesome job explaining things and helping me remember. Gabby and Sade in the front desk were really helpful and nice. If I decide to get my class A I will be back, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a cdl.

Rick Severinsen

Mike Wells Director of training and his staff , Ernest ,.Archie, Dan ,William, Dell, Nathan and Helen, were excellent with there hands on advice and direction ,you can not fail . YOU GUYS ARE AWSOME!!!! THANKS AGAIN

Some of the staff was great but the trucks was the problem when I took my driving test need newer trucks

This school is a JOKE!! Do not waist your time and money. The instructors give u instructions one time and leave you out to dry. One of the instructors just sits at the table smoking cigarettes and blows the whistle and signals u to stop. My whole class taught each other more then the instructors did. Other instuctors actually cared and wanted us to succeed. Dan, Brett and Steve are awesome and the Ms.Ellen. Thank you all. However this school is just after your money that’s it that’s all. The front office is very unprofessional and I would have to keep calling up there to get and answers because they would not call back to save there life. I tested the Tuesday after thanksgiving and gabby told me to come and get practice..well they were closed those two weekends days she told me to come. If you want to get your cdls DO NOT COME HERE. Cheaper is not always better. The retest students came in and would cut into our wheel time on the road and sometimes on the yard. The graduation rate is not what they say it is. More people come back to this school say they failed there pre trip test because of the way Katlaw tell you that the instructors at DD’s don’t know nothing about trucks, so your teaching them. That two is a lie. Good luck to everyone who decides to take there time and money else where, you won’t be disappointed.

If you are really wanting to get the training you need to be a professional truck driver, then Katlaw Truck Driving School is the place you need to be. With persistence and dedication you can be a part of the new elite in the transportation industry. The instructors Mike, Steve, Ken, and Archie are some of the best in the industry for training you to be the next top dog. The ladies in the office Gabby, Diana, Kattie, and Mellisa are very professional and work hard to make sure you get what you need. Also, just an FYI, Gabby is not a receptionist!...

Excellent school to attend to get your class A Cdl. The front office staff Breea and Gabby were very polite respectful and courteous are always in a good mood. The Instrucors knew their stuff kudos to them. And Ms Gwen is awesome the best, great teacher she have fun teaching us and loves what she does.

COLD FRONT

Do not go to this school. It’s a rip off. Trucks are old and broke down all the time. Class is over packed. You don’t get adequate driving time. People constantly failing to pass test to get there license. This school is in business to take your money. Try at your own risk!

Bana Redi

I don’t know where all these negative comments coming from But Katlaw is the school you want to go Don’t be coming here thinking it’s easy to every night you go home you have to study all the papers provide to you if more other than that all the instructors there they all great every single one of them specially Jim,Gwen,Mike,Steve and Kenny I can’t thank you guys enough all so I can’t forget about Mr.Dan he the man and all the ladies upstairs in the office you guys are the best specially Jessica and Gabby A big shout out to these two..

Josh Ray

Just graduated from the school I had a great experience for the most part Mike and Kenny were great and very helpful .understand before you enter the program this is adult school you have to do your part and pay attention and study in order to get your license you are not the only one out there so you won't be cottled but you will receive help when you need it

I went to Katlaw to get my CDL. I had a Great experience learning with their Team I was able to get my CDL In a reasonable time when I had trouble with something they stuck with me until I got it. This is a great school to go to

Dragonfly RC

I've seen good, bad and great reviews, of course different folks will have their own opinions but I noticed that every opinion that was very good or very bad had a LOT to do with the amount of effort put into the training by the student. Put in a little effort get little to no results, study and pay attention, use your time wisely and you WILL do very well and probably pass the first time through. I studied every night and spent as much time in a truck as I could get. I got to know several of the instructors quite well and really appreciated the amount of time each one was willing to spend with me and their ability to challenge me and I took notice to how much time they spent with some students who were not quite getting some of the maneuvers, not everyone is going to get it right away. Not every one learns the same way. I can say that I took a bit of useful Ideas and help from each instructor, Put it all together and found a style that worked well for me. The're some instructors that didn't seem like the hand holding, baby sitting type and at first I thought to myself I really don't see how this is helpful, but as I gave it a chance I ended up spending most of time with those instructors. I didn't see it at first but their style ended up being what worked for me. I feel like they have a wide variety of instructors because there are wide variety of drivers. Find the one that works for you. They are fair, thorough, understanding and they WILL challenge you to do better. PS. One and Done! Passed the DDS 1st time through. They didn't have a shirt I'm my size so I got one for my wife. Thank you to everyone at Katlaw but a huge shout out to Jim and Steven.

Matt Rarick

First let me tell you they DO NOT teach you to drive a drive a truck they teach you to pass a test their are a couple great people there Eddie , Dan ,Archie and Ernest are great as for Mike Wells he has no respect for anyone and thinks his s*** don't stink jumped down my throat over doing something my instructor told me to do and he talks as he's seen it all he's never driven more than Maxim 20000 miles in a semi as a former student that just graduated April 2017 I've drove 20000 miles in almost 2 month's and I will tell you that man knows nothing about what he is talking about But all In all its well worth the money considering the price of other driving schools but if you have the money go elsewhere I warn you now

Joaquin Depaz

I started at Katlaw 7/29 and got my CDL-A 8/29. The staff is awesome and all very helpful, Ms.Gwen is highly knowledgeable and she did an amazing job helping me prepare for my general knowledge test. The instructors on the range are all experienced and very capable. Steven, Jim, and Mike will show you how to perform the driving skills and how to correct any mistakes you make along the way. For anyone reading this with hopes of attending. This is more than meets the eye. Everyone here will work with you to get you to pass your CDL. But you also have to work with them, show up, put in EFFORT, ask questions, practice, and study. Study general knowledge, study pretrip until you know it front, back, and upside down. Practice driving skills and ask questions to things you dont know or how to correct yourself if you get something wrong, everyone here is ready to help. Huge thanks to Ms.Gwen, Steve, Jim and Mike for the knowledge youve passed on to me. Also to Jessica and Bri in the office, for the help with employment forms and for getting my paperwork squared away.

Danny Long

I went to school here in 2000. Great place to go. I’m still driving eighteen years later. Thanks Katlaw

Wayne Cooper

After being a #oneanddone, with a 97% gpa the only thing I can tell you is listen to the instructors do what they say and how they say to do it. It might get a little confusing at times but they will not steer you wrong. They work with you with every issue you have and they don’t give up, so do them a favor and keep the phone put away, ear buds out of your ear and listen, it’ll work every time! Thanks Katlaw, I really enjoyed the experience!

TheReal DBlake

I just graduated from Katlaw and and all i can say is be prepared to listen and get a understanding because your success at school depends on your willingness to learn. Now i like to thank the instructors at the school Mike is a caring and good instructor and most of the students like him, Ms Gwen is the one who will prepare you to pass pre trip inspection and she cares about you passing, Rodger is a great dude he teaches you things you will need to know so listen to him especially when he is instructing backing, Joseph will be one of the best instructors mark my word, he is new but he will get you right and he wants to see you pass, Frank takes students to DDS and he will do his best to make sure everyone passes he is a great guy and kieth is doing his best to make katlaw the best he can so work with him. Gabby is great and wants you to win, charde will put you in the right testing location were you can win.... My word!

Abdukadir Mohamed

I really enjoyed my time at the school. The instructors maintained patience and structure while teaching. The hands on and one on one training was excellent. I have even mentioned Katlow to a few of my family members. Thanks again for all the support and love. Thanks Mack for ur supporting me

Eddie Butler

BEWARE cheapest school for a reason terrible staff old equipment and DDS student pass rate is very low.

Carmen M Simmons simmons

I had a great experience at this school. Friendly front and back staff. The instructor's were all very helpful in making sure I understood everything. I was able to be a "One & Done" student. I passed my CDL state test on the first attempt. If you listen and apply what they are teaching, you to can be a "One & Done" too.

Cookie

Poor instructions given. When asked about the graduation rate they completely ignored the question. When asked on better maneuvers on controlling the truck. Instructor wasn’t willing to help don’t waste your money here! All they care about is money $3150 for what? To learn on your own I’d never recommend these crooks to anyone! It’ll be a cold day in hell before y’all see a dime of my money!!!

Roy Mustang

A great place to get your CDL license in a short time an a great instructor named Hellen will help make it easy for you withinn a week shes knows how to master her students an is the laid back melancholy type of instructor

Adam Willingham

Instructors are great! equipment leaves a bit to be desired but for good reason, i wouldnt buy brand new trucks to have a bunch of flunkies come in and tear it up. Ladies in the office are wonderful and will help you with anything that they can!

Jeremiah Lindsey

Not the best equipment but its good enough to get you a CDL as long as you dedicate yourself, the price is one of if not the best price to pay to get your CDL, I was satisfied with the process.

Shaunya Cornett

My name is Zandre and I attended Katlaw driving school and passed with flying colors thanks to the staff Katy Gabby Archie and can’t forget Helen best instructors best school best help loving staff that really care about there jobs they go above and beyond for there students.I wouldn’t attend any other school thanks to them I can finally move forward in life thank you Katlaw..I will be getting the Katlaw logo tattooed Very soon.

Ernie Lopez

I just completed the in class part of the class a cdl training! I will be writing an updated review once complete but as far as the classroom, Archie keeps you awake and gets you all of the information that you need to know to pass your permit test at the dmv! Also the ladies in the office are awesome! Gabi, Katie, and Diana got me scheduled for the pre trip and skill part of the course quickly! I greatly appreciate all of them very much for making this experience a good one! I would highly reccomnd this professional training school to anyone that wants to get things done quickly and efficiently! Also I see where people are on fake accounts writing bad reviews, seems to me like they either didn’t do their part in class to pass or are competitors trying to lower katlaw review rating!

Pete M. Moon

I took a one-week refresher course the owner of Katlaw cut me a great deal, students complain about the conditions of the trucks, but if you pay attention to the instructors and study hard you can pass ,you have to want it,I did

Tiffany Dennis

Unprofessional staff, uneducated instructors, unkempt equipment. Complete scam, waste of time and money.

Elizabeth Summers

If I could give this school zero starts I would so unprofessional and they lie about everything just out to take your money.. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY. They lie about the passing rate everyone in my class failed because of how they taught us. They will teach you one time and then go out to smoke cigarettes. I wish I would have never gave them My money

Sam Peyser

Very strong school. The school itself is designed to get you your CDL and they do exactly that, effectively. The instructors will take it a step further on the pavement and make sure you understand the truck and the maneuvers you will encounter when on the road. Instructors are phenomenal. I must mention Steve in particular. Enjoyed working with Steve Very much. His heart is with the student. From the first week on the yard all the way up to the test at the DMV the instructors will teach and watch you while you operate the truck to help you understand Your truck. I am very happy that I went with Katlaw, am grateful that I have obtained my CDL in such a short period of time and ready for a career today. Katie, thank you for your patience with me and Thank you very much for your help Katlaw! -Sam P.

Katlaw and its staff are the best! My initial introduction to their office and program (great), their assistance in getting enrolled with Ms. Gabby L. (superb), the classroom experience with Mr. Archie Maines (excellent...extremely knowledgeable w/ real life insights...he helped me get my CDL permit, passing all 3 parts on the 1st try), and now Ms. Katie B.'s help to get me out on the range/road (fantastic) have all been A-1 experiences!!! I look forward to working with all the great instructors I've heard so many good things about! I would recommend Katlaw to everyone, just on the classroom experience with Mr. Maines alone!!!!! It can't be beat.....he was funny and super entertaining while delivering very important content! -H. Wright-

oshia lewis

do not attend this school. they have a 20% pass rate. trucks are old and clutch rarely work. they are understaff and have to many students to teach. classes would be 5-6 people per instrucor. if you have no trucking experience go elsewhere. dont believe the 4 star hype its all staged.

Dieter Meadows

The whole Katlaw team is great. Friendly but serious about you learning. The class instructor Archie Maines is very thorough and easy to understand. Glad I choose this school. Thanks again Gabby &!Archie

Johnathan Maddox

This is a great school to attend , I was one of there one and done students some instructors aren’t any help but as long as u go find Steve and Jim and work with them on ur skills and find mike for the ally dock u will be one and done as well and for those of u who are speaking on the equipment not being well kept well hell who in there right mind is going to put u in a 70k truck that u don’t even know how to drive that ur going to tare up ? But that’s all folks this is a wonderful school and I can’t leave gabby , Katie, dianna our they did the most to get my paper work ready to get me back into school thanks y’all I highly recommend this school

Timothy Collins

I got to say katlaw is the school to attend for cdl training. Mr Archie gets you started in class. He is the best in the class. The yard staff is the best. Thanks katlaw From Timothy Collins

David Livingston

Katlaw is the place to get your CDL; the instructors (Archie, Ms. G, Mike, Roger, Dan) provided exceptional training; & provided adequate equipment and trucks to get the job done; but it all depends on how bad you want to it, study hard, practice, practice, practice pretrip, maneuvers, on the road, and you should be "ONE AND DONE". Thanks to Keith and the rest of the Staff for being patient and working with each student. "Ms. G" is also the best.

Martha Jones

I am editing my post because of the heart of this company, anyone who was affected by my previous review I do apologize. For a company to take the time and reach out to me with the compassion show, is a respectable company for sure.

Nakeisha Allen

Trust this program has what is need based on the curriculum and guidelines. With this being a crash course who will have to be a willing and able body individual that really want to obtain their CDL. The staff is very knowledgeable about the program and the instructors provide their wisdom which means that they can help. I DO RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM

The entire team did a very good job, the training was very detail and refine. The classroom and the yard training was detail and refined. The trainer's were very patient, and give all the instructions to get your CDL " ONE & DONE" as most of us do. A bigggg thanks to Katlaw Truck Driving School to have contributed to making a very significant change in my driving career.

Katlaw Trucking company of Austell is the only trucking school I've attended, so I can't compare them with anyone else. But from my experience it's not a good school several of the instructors such as Mr. Steve, Jim and Gwen were insightful and I learned a few things but overall I would say they are not a good company. The equipment is faulty such as unaligned steering wheels on some of the vehicles. Instructors do not have patience with the students and due to a clause in their agreement they can drop a student without warning before you get to test at DDS. Taking a student's hard earned money or federal grant leaving a person out in the cold. So be very careful when dealing with this company. I am looking into legal actions as I am typing this review. At first I sent at least two referrals to this company but that was before I witnessed their sheisty politics first hand. Also I witnessed their passer rate with 7 guys in my class going to test and no one come back with their cdl's. So have caution when dealing with this company.

David Gaddy

Excellent driving school. Keith and all the staff are really great at teaching you what you need to know to prepare for your driving tests and you career. Began in July ‘18, passed all my tests and got my CDL license on the first try! Began my new career as an owner/operator hauling construction material in dump truck. I’m my own boss and making GREAT money!

paulo sanchotene

I had a great experience being a student at katlaw. Will, Archie, Ms. G, Roger, Dan, Mike and Brett are great instructors and support team. Keith and the girls in office are very friendly and helped me a lot during my journey. Please understand that your passing or failing the CDL test depends on YOU ONLY!!!!! Instructors are good only if the student has the vocational tendency and good attitude. You must work with your colleagues to perfect your skills and the number one killer: PRE TRIP. Also, study after school and research videos online to complement your knowledge. Thanks.

humor senser

Very bad school . Worst instructors on earth . Dont go there ! You will regret if you do. In one word a WASTE of TIME.

I just recently obtain my CDL Class A driver's license thank you katlaw for giving me the information needed to graduate it was definitely a hard Road but I appreciate all the information I would like to thank Dan Ken Steve Brett Archie Joe Steven Miss Gwen miss Helen Miss Gabby Miss Diana Keith Jim Mike and all the other instructors that I fail to mention the school is not designed to teach you how to drive it is there to give you the skills and knowledge needed to pass DDS laws once you obtain your CDL katlaw will not be there to drive every mile for you you have to take the initiative to study and practice Beyond your 10-hour day at school I would recommend the school to anyone that is serious about your career you have to be motivated and willing to accept constructive criticism even though I wasn't one and done as I was aiming for it wasn't no fault of the school I failed to perform 100% on my pre-trip and skills so I am taking responsibility for my failure I would like to give a special thanks to Jim Southern this is an awesome guy very knowledgeable miles of experience great conversation he took the nerves and anxiety away before I tested at DDS thank you Jim this bud's for you mr. Nerve takeawayer anxiety Slayer all jokes aside thank you katlaw for your patience and understanding I would definitely definitely recommend katlaw Driving School to everyone

Katlaw is simply a good choice for your cdl training. Great instructors, always on point office staff, and excellent and experienced yard instructors. I just got my class A (5/30/19)and besides the work and dedication that I had to apply myself, I owe it to every person that I met there. No matter who you are, slow learner or fast learner, experienced or completely void of any type of experience (like I was), male or female, young or old, you WILL excel, learn and succeed here. The price is right, the timing is right and the knowledge given in your three weeks is just what you’ll need to get on the road and provide for you and yours. I had no clue when I decided to take on trucking who to go to for my training and I was worried about who would serve my needs the best. Best choice I ever made!!!! Period!!! I have talked to other class A holders and students that have tried other schools. It was clear and evident through various conversations about disappointments with other schools and success’ that Katlaw is at the top of their game. Thanks to everyone there. BIG SHOUT-OUT TO: JIM, GWEN, MIKE, STEVE, RENAY, and KEN. They are the yard instructors that’ll make sure you learn and succeed. BIG SHOUT-OUT TO: KATIE, GABBY, BRI, DIANA AND JESSICA. They are the fantastic office staff that truly care about the service they provide. More ice pops please??!! (Inside joke) You’ll get it when you get there. Lastly, BIG SHOUT-OUT TO PROFESSOR ARCHIE, best in class instructor...hands down. I learned so much and I am forever grateful. Thank you KATLAW!

Thomas Dion

The classroom instructor was very knowledgeable about what he was doing. Thanks Archie I would like to thank the staff on the yard they where all very professional. Made sure that they where there when I needed them. l I would also like to thank Ed and Diane for being there to quickly get a appointment at DDS I know have my CDL thanks to the entire staff at Katlaw. I would also like to thank Bri for making sure that my carrier was off to the best start possible Thanks Bri

i got laughed at because i wanted information...

Overall, great place to learn what you need to get your CDL. Equipment is older, but you can't give people with no experience new equipment. Basically, the instructors are there to instruct, not do it for you. You have to put in the work, both at Katlaw, and at home studying. If you don't put in the work, you're not going to do well. Most people putting in negative reviews, probably didn't do their part. I failed the driving test at the DDS 3 times, and passed it on the 4th. 2 out of the 3 times I failed were my fault. The 3rd was the DDS. None were the fault of Katlaw. If you are able to learn fairly quickly and are willing to put in the work, Katlaw can help you get your CDL. If it takes you a while to pick things up, maybe you should try an 8 or 9 week course at a tech school. If you're not going to work hard at it, don't bother trying either. Many thanks to the instructors, Archie, Mike, Gwen, Dan, and Roger. Thanks also to the folks in the office, especially Sade and Gabby. They really work hard scheduling, working with the WIOA, etc. Keep up the good work.

I have no idea what I was doing when I came to the school and they helped me tremendously and the ladies in the office are extremely nice and they will go out of their way to help you

Worst school ripoff let me tell you why ? because they don't teach nothing except Some of them Archie and Hellen and dan , those tree they try to do the best, but the trucks are old and in bad condition and they don't help you to pass your test specially when you shifting, and if you need to do your maneuver like parallel it's workst because you need to build the air everytime because it's leaking .however if you want take appointment to pass your test at dds it's going to be one month and up once you take that appointment and going to dds for your test come to find out that the examiner she told me you can't test in this truck because the tag it's expired!!!! I'm going to leave open question what do you expect from a school that takes students to dds with tag expired??????

Tyme Impression Ltd

Great school, the instructor are really good... :) uriel

Christina Lewis

I wouldn’t recommend this school at all. All they do is take your money.. the receptionist GaBBY doesn’t know what she’s talking about. They never answer the phone. Basically just a money hungry school that doesn’t even prepare you for your test. DO NOT GO HERE. I took my test here 4 times and failed Went to another school to test and passed the first time.

Not freind at all no good no good no good no good no good

Friendly staff and very knowledgable, a great industry resource!

Love Porter

The staff was very nice and willing to be of assistance. The instructors are also very helpful and knowledgeable. I went into Katlaw with a goal and the instructors/staff help me accomplish that goal. You will get out the school, what you put in when it comes to this training. The school is probably has the lowest tuition of any private driving school in the state. But with such a low tuition comes some MINOR challenges. Those MINOR challenges are the equipment that you will be operating at Katlaw. The equipment is not top of the line; but how can you expect it to be. This equipment gets dogged day in and day out by inexperienced student drivers. I call them MINOR challenges because me and few other students took our test at the Ga dds and passed on our 1st try! You can come to the school, soak up the knowledge , do it the KATLAW way and become a member of the elite 1 & DONE crew! If the minor challenges that I mentioned discourage you then you can go to another school spend TWICE the amount of money to say that you learned how to drive on a tractor that shifted better to get the same damn CDL license.....But honestly I feel If you can handle this equipment, then you can handle any equipment! Thanks Katlaw Driving School!

JACQUE D

If you are serious about getting your cdl license katlaw is a great place to go. It can be done but you will have to do your part and really study, retain, and learn the work & pay attention. If you find a way to learn and retain the information from a particular instructor, ask that instructor to help you. You may find that you are learning 4 different maneuvers from 4 different instructors cause you understand their way of showing you that particular maneuver (and they all teach different). Retain what works for you and ask them for help for that maneuver. Practice it there, practice it at home on your sofa, at the table, in your car, in your sleep & in the tub. Study & practice is key. An if you significant other isn't complaining or putting you out the room for pretripping or driving a imaginary truck, you are not studying enough lol. Study till you are dreaming about it. Really. It can be one & done. Other pointers when you go test, if you dont feel ready to test on test day go anyway to at least get pretrip and skills out the way. I was very nervous an I just told myself do pretrip and skills so if I made it to driving and messed up I only have driving to worry about the driving test next time. Guess what I made it to driving test the first time and did everything right. I could hear Mr CJ & Mr. Jim in my head telling me watch my curves, how to shift my gears & what to do if I missed a gear & how to turn those crazy curves. You may surprise yourself like I did and make it all the way through the driving part and pass. So dont let your self doubt hold you back definitely if you know you have really applied yourself and studied. Thank you Ms Gwen, Mr CJ, Mr Jim, Ms Dee, Mr Renae, Mr Steve, & Mr Mike.

Personally I enjoyed my time at Katlaw. Most of the instructors were awesome Brett was by far my favorite but all of them were great at teaching us what we needed to know. The equipment and the yard weren’t perfect but neither is the real world. If you can pay attention and apply yourself and do the skills on the katlaw yard then you can easily do them at DDS. They aren’t there to hold your hand they treat you like an adult if you want to pass then you better act like one. I learned a lot from everybody there and I got my CDL. One and done baby!!!!!!!

Cathy Lewis

Amazing staff !!! They genuinely care about your experience there.

Nate Young

Laid back environment !!! No drill sergeant type instructors!!!

Katlaw was great. I learned so much about a truck in 2 weeks it shocked me. I passed my class b exam with flying colors. Thanks katlaw and my instructor ms Hellen. I highly recommend this company.

This has to be the best school in Ga to go get your CDL at. Got my CDL today ! One and done ! Got some real good people in there. Gabby was very helpful and motivating and she will try her best to work whatever situation you got going on with you. The class room instructor Archie was very cool, had a lot of knowledge to teach and once you get on the yard there is Steve, Mike, and Jim they are the best out there and they really care about you learning the material. Done expect to come in and just magically get your CDL you have to work for it and put in some of your personal time to study. I had an amazing experience here and I would recommend this school to anybody !

Adrione Sheppard

Good school nice staff, your experience will be what you make it, I had a great time learned everything there was to know about obtaining my cdl, although it took me 3 times, I was able to get it using the knowledge 3 I received from the instructor, only quarrel is equipment could've been a little bit better but it gets the job done, most bad reviews come from ppl who didn't wanna learn or just shouldn't be behind the wheel of a truck

Arthur Moore

I simply love the classes and training Bree was an excellent intake counselor and Mr Archie was great in his teachings simply amazing!!

Terrell Audain

Staff is awesome minus two that don't know how to talk to people and are proud of it. The ladies in the office are the best. The equipment belongs in a junk yard. The tape holding it together is the best part. Listen to the instructors and you will be fine, truly a wealth of knowledge.

Loved Katlaw Trucking Driving School. I just graduated from there this month. Awesome staff very helpful and knowledgeable. And professional. I would recommend them to anyone trying to get their CDL ( A ). I passed the class with a 91.4GPA. And passed the state test on my first go. My name is Trey.

Ronald Washington

Archie, jeff, William, Ernest, Dan, Helen, nate and Greg are the perfect instructors. And Mike may appear mean but looks are deceiving because Mike is the engine that makes Katlaw go. Kattie and Sandra are super awesome

Robert Reilly

Katlaw Truck Driving School was great for me because of the fantastic staff,,, yeah you got to study hard but they give you a positive input and all the advice and training you need. All the instructors are experience professional truckers. They teach you everything you need to know and even what to say on test day at the DDS. They got 5 stars from me.

I recently just got my license from Katlaw. From Mrs.Diana, Gabby, Katie, and the other ladies in the office, I wanna send a big thanks to you all. In the classroom, Mr. Archie is the best. In the yard, from Stephan, Ms.Gwen, Mike, Ken, Jim, Mr. Dan, Mr.Mac, and Keith. I wanna thank all of you because all of was very professional and helped me where i needed help. My experience at Katlaw truck driving school was phenomenal! My Teacher MS. Gwen was very one on one with me and every other student. We all had fun, laughed, and she was still able to keep that information in your brain from her stories and real life events. I have a lot of respect for her after how she treated me and my class. Very smart person and fun to be around and still learn. Thank you so much MS. Gwen! You are A1

I really got the top notch training that I needed to get my cdl class a license

There is alot I did learn at Katlaw by just being observant and watching closely..I just took my first skills test and I failed due to not properly telling them at dds my steps and I skipped a step on my in cab...I did it but didn't talk to the examiner as I should have...I can't take anything from the instructor Steve he is passionate about his instructing...Mike is alright but he is a slickster...the racism that is on the yard is damn near unbelievable..if you are black and you have money to spend don't spend it with Katlaw..if you come through the wioa program don't go to Katlaw...there is an instructor by the name of ken he is the owners brother and this guy made a joke about a nigerian that was practicing his skills calling the Nigerian a monkey...he said maybe if we give him a banana he would get his skills down...him and the other instructor had no idea I was behind listening and I walked off before they had a chance to know I was even standing there... He also made monkey sounds to add to his antics.i will not be retesting through Katlaw I will be going another route..I have witnesses to these incidents and we will taking this a step further passed Google reviews...Archie is a great classroom instructor..pay him attention because he has the experience under his belt the type of experience that you will be able to take into the field with you...Gwen is a great instructor as well but her problem is she is trying to hard to stay on her oppressors good side..Gwen if you see this review understand that this is real your co workers are not for you...they gather together and talk down on you and steve stay out of their face...that is another situation that me and other students encountered which is the racial divide between the instructors...if it is anything that black people understand as a whole it is racism and white supremacy...you can't have one without the other they work in conjunction...the bad reviews that you guys see believe those...I would say about 25 percent of the students suceed...and those are people who have driven before or people who are able to overlook the distractions and are not affected by these distractions or people that is not born in America and is totally oblivious to what's going on with Katlaw...even if I had passed my first test I was going to leave this review regardless. .I work in conjunction with people that exposes these places that has hidden in the fabric of America for too long..so let this review serve as notice that racism with that place is coming to an end...Gabby u need a vacation. Take some time off..you are entirely too busy.. let the truth of this review cleanse u all..✌️im sure someone will offer a rebuttal but I have some proof don't play with me. If any of sees this review and still choose katlaw you are being fool...but they do provide a yard and trucks for the students to teach each other...which is bogus because a non cdl holder has no business instructing other students...whilst the real instructors fall back on you and drink coffee and smoke cigarettes all day. They talk down on the student past and present all day long. If you have any prior experience in Trucking then Katlaw is the place for you if not and you are a new born baby to Trucking.. go elsewhere..!!!

Thomas Simmons

Just graduated Katlaw and loved it! Staff In office Katie , Kerry and others were super nice and cared You just weren't a number there! They helped in anyway they could to help you succeed ! On the yard the instructors are very knowledgable If you listen to their instructions you will pass and be fine! Del William Helen Archie Ernest Nathan Mike and Poor Ol Dan were great . I'm honestly glad I chose Katlaw !!Great School !! Learned so much !!

Dennis Fitzpatrick

I want thank all Katlaw Fam for giving me da training I need to get my class A....Mr. Will u keep telling those funny jokes lol but at da end of today I would recommend this school to anybody

Don't look any further, this is the place to get your CDL. I had a great experience here. You will learn exactly what you need to know to get your license. Katie and Briana set me up in the front office, Archie made the classroom time entertaining, and everyone on the backing yard was very positive. Mike, Jim, Kenny, Steve, Renee, and Dan were great. Companies came in a recruited- you won't have a problem getting hired after finishing up here.

Daniel Wetzel

Just graduated. Took me a few times but I’m not a natural. Katlaw is great. Special thanks to Gabby, Steven, Gwynn(sp?), Joseph(Johnston maybe), Ken, and Mike. Staff is great. What you hear about the trucks is correct, but it’s for good reason. Only real drawback is oversized classes but I hear they are hiring more instructors so that might be remedied soon. If you need special attention maybe think about a private instructor. But I’m Glad I chose Katlaw

I am a soon to be student and female driver. I came into the school a fee months ago to get info and was very excited. While i was there there was a guy walked from the back i felt him staring at me. He was looking at me as if i shouldn't have been there. He then said "Do you need something?" I told him i was there as a potential student and i was filling out my paperwork. He then said " YOU DON'T LOOK LIKE A TRUCK DRIVER!" and omg from that point he discouraged the hell out of me. I found out he was the OWNER of the school. That is absolutely no way to talk to a student. You shoukd rather encourage all drivers and in no way DISCRIMINATE against a FEMALE TRUCKER. That was very unprofessional of him being in BUSINESS period. I felt so discriminated against. I was supposed to start in December but i told them i couldn't get the money when in fact me being discouraged to start or not go full throttle to get the money had 90% to do with what the OWNER told me to my face. I feel so discouraged at this point and like i cant do it. He left a really bad 1ST IMPRESSION on me and he also talks horribly to some of the employees. I understand you're the BOSS and big KAHUNA or BIG MAN ON THE BLOCK but there is a way you talk to people that want to do BUSINESS WITH YOU after all the students are how you GET YOUR MONEY in the first place UPDATE:: even the owners response shows how much of an ego he has ... All of his responses are rude on here

Luigi L.

Great instructors, great staff. Would definitely recommend.

Archie Maines was a great instructor, answered all questions and made learning fun!!! Gaddie was great also.

I got my CDLs and I want to thank Mr steven, sade, and Gabby for keeping me encouraged. Mr. Steven really shows that he cares when teaching the students. Thankyou all so much!

Great school! I highly recommend for anyone wanting a trucking career. The office staff are very sweet and professional. The instructors are VERY patient, and helped me gain the skills to pass the state cdl-a exam. I went from zero knowledge about tractors and trailers to passing the test in 17 days. I'd like to thank the instructors Nate, Archie, Ernest, Dan, Helen, and William for there patience and training. So if your looking for a truck driving school and your a little nervous. These guys will make you feel right at home, and teach you what you need to know. Much Love and Respek for the Katlaw Truck Driving school! ROLL TIDE.
