Thank you to Mark and his professional and conscientious staff for a very good driver education experience. They are qualified, flexible and communicative instructors who work easily with an array of young driver personalities. Patience and professionalism help to navigate the daunting task of training a teenage driver. The program is well structured and convenient for busy schedules.

We have had 3 kids go through this program. They learned a tremendous amount and are confident, safe drivers.

My daughter has had two driving lessons from this school. The first from Jackie that went great. The second was from Mark. My daughter was shaking and crying after the lesson. By the middle of the lesson she was shaking and had trouble concentrating and even had wobbly legs making it difficult to press the accelorator. She said the critiques came so fast that she didn't have time to digest them before another came flying. She said he was raising his voice and not teaching. My daughter has been driving for about 25 hrs. and is still learning. All people learn differently but there was no adaptation on Mark's part. If he thought she needed to start fresh or was not comfortable with her driving it probably would have been best to go to a parking lot. We have been having difficulty scheduling lessons so this past week she went to Next Street and had a 2 hr lesson which was great. The gentleman was calm and she accomplished a lot. We kept the appointment with Mark so we weren't canceling at last minute and being rude or inconveniencing him. I am not raising my daughter to be a snowflake but this was abusive. Yelling is not a way to teach, especially in a car! This is the first negative post I've ever posted and hopefully will be the last.

Great experience. Mark keeps the classes interesting and interactive. The classes go over real life scenarios and prepare you for driving out on the road. The lessons and instructors are very helpful. I have found that the last lesson is very helpful and is a simulation of the real test. I was fully prepared for the actual test and passed easily. So try to schedule your last lesson right before the actual test if possible, it is very refreshing and goes over everything you need to know.

Awesome institution that is very well run! The classes are informative without being boring. The driving lessons were very well organized and the instructors really know what they are doing. Mark really works with your schedule as driving lessons and classes are offered at different times and on different days! And most importantly there are cookies on Tuesdays!

UPDATE: the owner called this morning and offered to make it right. I appreciate this tremendously as it shows that he cares about his customers. Therefore I am changing my rating. The classes at RDS are fine. Informative and hours are flexible. Some instructors are more patient than others.

Ridgefield Driving School (RDS), no matter which course you take, offers a flexible and effective driving experience that molds to best address the ability and comfort level of each individual. Every teenager at one point fears both the road and, as a result of that, fears getting yelled at. RDS has experienced instructors who ensure that kids are safe, comfortable, and confident via kindly providing constructive criticism, new techniques, and responding to fears and frustration with friendly, nerve-settling humor. Furthermore, each week, the owner Mark provides a "testing tip of the week" which addresses a common mistake kids make ona DMV test or a technique that is crucial to smooth driving. Mark also makes sure that he teaches more than road signs and parking angles, going in depth about the importance of not drinking and driving (by defining what a "few drinks" really means and how each drink of a various size affects one's body) and not texting and driving, even creating a special program that builds teens into leaders who can publically make a stand against all types of distracted driving, specifically the cell phone. RDS is the best choice for any level driver who wants to master driving through back roads, busy towns, the highway, and parking while also getting as prepared as possible for passing their DMV test. Also they have coffee and hot coco and pizza Thursdays sooo...

Really flexible so you can complete the course with any schedule. The lessons are extremely helpful too. The instructors even take you on the same roads as your driving test (provided you test in Ridgefield).

Effie Daly

Luke McGarrity

Highly recommend!! Learned so much from Mark and all of the instructors and enjoyed every second of it throughout my experience.

Alex Consentino

I did the full lesson at the school, it included classroom time and 5 road sessions, I learned a lot during the lessons and developed my skills drastically with the road lessons, mark taught me tricks on reverse and parallel parking that puts my parents parking to shame, I didn’t take my road test at the driving school and instead took it in Danbury because I was too eager to get my license, and most kids fail their first time in Danbury since they are unfamiliar with the roads there, but during my lessons the instructors took me to Danbury to practice and I was able to pass on my first time with flying colors!

Alison Zuckert

Mark is an excellent instructor, and a really good guy. He emphasizes the seriousness of driving, and makes the classes entertaining at the same time. He prepared our daughter very well for her on-road driving test. We definitely recommend RDS!
