Academy charges at least 2x as much as the MVD. You'd expect that they'd provide great customer service to make up for the expense, but this is not the case! I have repetitively been recommended to Academy for their friendly employees, but this was not my experience. Walked in to see many customers sitting around. There was no one up front, a bell, or a sign telling me what to do. Saw a clip board with names written all over it. Took a seat. During my wait, I saw many people who came, grew frustrated and left. There was even a beeping noise that went off when the door was opened. It went off numerous times, and yet, no one came up. What seemed like an eternity (5+ minutes), someone finally came up to the front. I eventually left, let the door shut behind, and it will remain like that. Academy just wants your money and won't make it worth wild. I'd rather go to the MVD and wait for 2+ hours and get at least some rude customer service, but it heck sure be a lot better than Academy! P.S. Saw a little roach run around as well, gross!

Location: 4733 E. Broadway Blvd 85711 I had a Power of Attorney form notarized and sent through the mail from the previous owner for a vehicle title to be placed in my name. The woman at counter #4 rudely stated the POA form was not authentic and had to be redone. I then confirmed with the previous owner that the form was the original and the stamp was from the ink of the notary (not a scanned copy), then returned to relay this information to the woman at counter #4. Upon returning to the Academy of Driving the gentleman at the front informed me that I could go stand by her counter until she was finished with the current customer. When that customer left the counter I approached her area and she exclaimed "YOU CANNOT BE SERVED NOW, I'M WITH ANOTHER CUSTOMER!!! CAN'T YOU SEE HIS STUFF THERE???" I then noticed he had left his belongings there and was just going to the front of the office momentarily. After the customer had finished I then approached her counter as I was instructed to do by the person at the front, he also came over at the same time to ask "can you talk to him now?", with which she rudely answered "ARE THERE OTHER CUSTOMERS IN LINE????", he then replied "well you were working with him before...". She then held her hand out without making eye contact or saying anything, I took this to mean I was to place the paper in her hand. While I explained that the form was indeed authentic and original, not a copy, she became even more irate and stated: "THIS FORM IS A COPY, YOU WILL NEED TO SEND ANOTHER POA FORM TO THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND GET IT NOTARIZED AGAIN!!!". I then tried to explain that I had sent the previous owner an email with the scanned form, he then printed out the form, had it notarized and sent it back through the mail. Seeing I wasn't going to get anywhere with this person, I asked her if I could have the website link to where I could direct the previous owner to download the official digital POA form with which she stated "I DON'T KNOW THAT!!!!!" at which point I was insulted and frustrated enough to give up. I will be following up with a BBB Claim and online reviews, I will also discourage anyone I know from placing foot in this establishment.

Quick service worth the little extra to not sit at the MVD all day!

Terrible experience. Walked in to turn in a form for the MVD for a duplicate title (as it states on the ADOT website, I can, and pay a $4 fee to them). First, there was no one up front to greet - just a sign in form. Second, when someone came out to ask if I needed something, they were very rude, condescending, and had no idea what the form I had was for (also, they acted like it was a major inconvenience to them to even talk to me). When I explained what it was for, she laughed and said that no, that was not how it worked. They could get me a duplicate title, but it would cost $25. Total scam. Do not go to this place. The staff are unfriendly, arrogant, rude and unhelpful.

Alexandra Luque Alcaraz

horrible experience with Anna the OWNER, lady was extremely rude! employees are nice but i do not recommed this place ., if you’re looking for a third party mv go to Southwest they are way more organized, faster service and great staff!

Tried to reschedule a class that I had not gone to get 6 days prior and was told that there would be no fee in doing so and that they would call me at a later time to give me options as to what day would be possible to do so. Within the next 6 days I did not receive a call at all and I went there myself only to find out yes in fact there is a fee to do so I only wish that they were honest and professional when it came to fees and scheduling. The driving instructor Roy is an amazing teacher when it comes to driving lessons. TLDR: Don't trust anything over the phone with them do everything in person at their location.

I've used this place before and had better service but today it was terrible. It wasn't that busy but all the staff people were multitasking and also helping each other so I could never get anyone's full attention. It took them three tries and an override code to take a driver's license photo. They don't clean the vision tester unless you ask them to (which you shouldn't) so everybody else's germs are on it. It seems like it took 4 people to accomplish the simple task of driver's license renewal. Management needs to fix the way they work in there. Don't think I'll go back...

Toni Abril

Horrible how they stay in business I don't know in fact I will make some calls to make sure this doesn't happen to someone else. I had to to give them 1 star to post it.

Since I found this place, I have stopped going to the DMV at all. It is clean, the ladies all know their jobs and best of all, this place is fast. I have been in and out multiple times for title transfers, tags, and moving permits. The longest time I ever had to wait was about 25 minutes, but most visits take less than 15 minutes from sign in to completion. These folks are licensed to conduct DMV business, but there is a 15 dollar surcharge for not have to waste half a day at the standard DMV office, well worth their surcharge, in my opinion.

n s

if i could cuss on here i would to really love to in order to have people understand the how horrible this place is. Horrible customer service. the wait is just as long as the DMV and the cost is expexsive.

There is no replacement for our youth. The more training the better for protecting our families on the road. The Academy of Driving has been very professional and helpful in training my daughter in Driver's Education.

Franco Draguicevic

Roxanne is incredibly rude

Mark Garity

This place is 1000x better than any DMV I have been to in California or Arizona. They can do everything a DMV does, but with personalized service instead of the "take a ticket" system. Ignore the bad reviews on here. Roxanne has been there as long as I remember and is a rockstar. A++

Pauline Rosas

Was a pretty quick experience the only negative experience was when the young lady Crystal who greeted and helped me. Was being yelled at inappropriate in front of customers while testing a lady. The lady who did all the negative experience was named Ana she should of spoke with crystal discretely and not caused a scene in front of all the customers anyone one with any kinda of people skills would have done so and not caused a scene

Kyle Meades

Saved me a ton of time today. Roxanne really helped me (even when it went over into her lunch hour) to get my finger print card and driver's license updated.

I went there to renew my driver's license. It costs 10 dollars at MVD and it takes almost an hour to do so. The very nice lady who welcomed me here told me it will cost 32 dollars, which was not bad because I thought they will be faster than MVD, so I stayed there. There was only one person in front of me but it took them 1 hour to renew my driver's license. What is worse is that the other lady who renewed my license charged my 47 dollars!!! I would have wasted less time and money if I had gone to MVD. And I was treated horribly and very disrespectfully. I am an international student at UA (legally in the US) and when the lady asked me about my VISA and other student forms, it was as if she was looking for a fugitive or she was trying to charge me with some crime.

Place is a complete waste of time and money. Upon walking in I was not greeted nor instructed what to do. After waiting for 15 minutes my name was rudely yelled out and I was rudely instructed to go to desk 1. After this the woman asked if we filled of a form even thought we were never told to. Forcing us to fill out paper work we lost our spot in line and returned a hour later. The 2 ladies working there had absolutely zero manner were very Arrogant and rude. Yelling at each other and talking to each other even with a customer. Upon taking my drivers test the women rudly said turn on that air so I don't melt didn't even get a please or thank you. The entire time I was doing the paralel park test the women was on her phone not paying attention. Overall I would never go back and plus it is very expensive. Workers are very rude and under educated.

It's worth the few extra dollars to not have to deal with the lines!! Staff is always friendly!!

Michael Waldbillig

Very helpful and can't believe for one second someone could leave a negative review. Always been great to us!

Linda Woodall

I have been there several times. I have never been treatst rudely by any employee.

Selina Talamante

Been here a few times. Some of the employee's there are friendly. Today's experience made me not want to come back. We were greeted by a nice lady who then sent us to booth 5. Might I suggest you teach these young girls people skills. First off when we went over to her, she didn't greet us. Then proceeded to do her paperwork rather than stop and help us. She then told us we had to wait. Waited a while, then she interrupted our conversation about salvaged vehicles and how we can't transfer a title. Until she finally looked at our title did she then correct herself. Then she informed is that there is an additional fee for their services. I was aware of this but when you get the feeling that you're inconveniencing the employee who is there to help you, we decided to go to the DMV. Customer Service and communication skills should be a qualification to work there.

Benjamin Bessent

The ladies were seriously nice and very knowledgeable about all of the state procedures for titles and licensing. I called ahead, had a pleasant conversation. When I arrived I signed in, filled out the application for a new license since I just got married and was out of there in 30 minutes on a Friday afternoon. Awesome!

garrett Shelton

Unlike others who wrote reviews, I had excellent service. My duplicate license was handled quickly and efficiently. It was well worth the extra fee to complete the process without waiting in long lines at the DMV. S. Rossi

Met two of the nicest, most helpful, funniest people I've ever met, Rosa and Roxanne, also very efficient service (I could have been out the door in 15-20 minutes but it was not busy,so I didn't rush out). I am 78 yo, admittedly a crazy old man, and I love to make people laugh (we laughed a lot; they finished my new driver's license in record time)....This was the easiest, fastest renewal since I came to Tucson about 15 years ago...Thank you Rosa and Roxanne; thank you Academy of driving; this is what the DMVs should be like........yogi, tucson desert

MELISSA PORTER

It would be REALLY helpful if they stated on their website that the whole place closes for lunch from noon until 1:00pm. Some of us are using OUR lunch hour to accomplish what we need. Had I known I would have rearranged my schedule to accommodate the Academy's lunch.

Dianne Horgan

They are super nice. Been there many times. No wait.

Nancy Winton

Been here several timed this yesr for titled and always frienly and helpful, and fast. Dont waste your day at ADOT, come here

Janet Cooper

Staff was knowledbable, friendly and respectful.

The front desk lady is incredibly kind and helpful. Everyone past her is the most useless and incompetent person you'll ever meet. Even compared to other DMVs, there are none worse that I know of. They lied to me 3 times and made me come back and forth all day. After that, they still didn't get me my license. They were incredibly rude when I asked for clarification after the 3rd time (because I didn't want to come back again). One lady held my birth certificate and SSN card hostage and when I asked to have them back because I wanted to go to a different DMV, she threw them back and said "good please do". Very rude and unprofessional. After blatant lying, they had the audacity to blame me for "not paying attention". Would recommend literally any other DMV on this Earth. They people behind the counter are more focused on remembering to breathe and blink than actually helping you or giving you the info you need.

We send our Title work to Academy of Driving! We love their quick service and always ready to help us when we are in need! Thank you to all the staff!

This place is great i got my Arizona ID here in 20 min

Cindy McDaniel

I don't normally leave reviews, but this was unacceptable. We went in to get my sons driving permit. He took the permit test online and passed. I went to their website to verify that we had everything that we needed before we rearranged our day to go get his permit (which is super exciting for a child). Based directly off of their website, these are the requirements: "You must be at least 15 years and 6 months old. You will need to bring in one primary ID such as an original US birth certificate, US passport, or Arizona ID card and one secondary ID such as an original social security card, health insurance card or school ID. If you do not have a photo ID, you will need a third form of ID. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian (requires proof) may serve as your third form of ID." We Brough in his birth certificate, social security card and I, his mother was there to serve as his third form of ID. They proceeded to inform me that no, that wouldn't work and that he needs to have 2 pieces of mail with his name and the address on them, preferably a BILL. He is 15! He doesn't have any bills. When I asked if my drivers license would suffice as proof of address, she told me no. So, after getting his hopes up that he was going to get his permit today, driving across town, sitting in the lobby and waiting only to be turned away because apparently THEIR website is incorrect. When people come here, they are coming specifically for a reason. I did my due diligence and researched what were the necessary documents to bring. Now, I have wasted over an hour of my day, for nothing. So, beware if coming here, you might not have all you need to achieve what you are looking for.

All the waiting of the DMV with easily TWICE the hassle. The people will go the extra mile to do as little as possible. Simple title change required me to bring them all the paperwork AND the vehicle only to find that because the ignorant staff could not read a vin on an older car I got the pleasure of getting the run around. At least when you go to the DMV they actually get things done. Steer clear....

Bob Lodufhbs

This place is a total SCAM! I wanted my daughter to take lessons and test there so she didn’t have to go to MVD. They advertise one price, but when you go too registered they add all kinds of the different fees they don't tell you about until after the initial registration, and after you paid the 300 or MORE! Their cars are disgustingly dirty, and their instructors do nothing but talk about things non-related to driving, and text on their phone. They teach them nothing yet tell the parents that they and not safe and MUST buy more drives before they are ready. I called the place and spoke to someone at the front desk to try and voice my opinion to try and get it straightened out but she refused to forward me to someone in charge and who knew something! Have your kids learn somewhere else! and for testing, you might as well just go to the MVD- The people at Academy are just as rude, at cost way way more! And they are total liars and scam artist. I made a false email to do this so they can't look up my 'profile' and use that information to discredit me as they did to the person below. I am a FATHER who just wanted for her daughter to be safe and get her license.... and all I got was an empty wallet and a ton of false promises

Bailee Tribble

Proud to be an American

I was there just half hour ago to tranfer a car title for a car I sold to a friend of mine and get a plate and Roxanne she was the one suppose to help me, and instead helping me she gave me a bad attitude and told me to kind of shut up, because I was told her I want to use another car plate credit towards this one and its same owner, so should be no problem because its SAME OWNER. Roxanne need to have a customer service despite she been there along time that doesn't mean she can be mean to the customers. Without a customers a business don't exist. I will take my business to a different place. I am car dealer by the way, so I do this a lot.

LC

The staff was EXTREMELY rude, they have no cell phone usage while at counter signs posted however they're on their phones showing each other pics while clients are sitting in front of them at their counters (this includes myself). They have an attitude and speak to you like you're a child, I did not appreciate this all. People like them shouldn't be working at a publis service place if they lack basic customer service skills. On a good note the receptionist, Becky was super.

Frank

went in to get a state ID, i took in everything that was required, then they tell me i didnt have to correct documentations, then the owner became very rude, raised her voice to me and called me "dude". very poor customer service skills for being the owner.

Pablo Beltran

TERRIBLE service! I came to this location and the lady at the front wanted to charge me 32$ to renew my license as well as asking for my birth certificate ! There's ways to talk to customers and this lady clearly has no customer service, rude, and smirking . I ended going to a different DMV and only paid 10$ don't waste your time!

Michael Silva

Everybody working there Are polite and respectful and very helpful.

Elizabeth Smail-Fluegel

Same experience as another poster where my son was going to get his permit and had taken the test at home. We researched ahead of time to find out what we needed only to get there and be told he needed residency verification with his name on it. The lady at the front desk was rude to me and to callers she had taken on the phone. We went to another third party MVD office and needed no type of residency verification and ended up spending $10 less.

Sinan Slaiwa

I would've thought the class would be painful because of how long it was, but the teacher (Alex) made it interesting. I learned things about driving that I wouldn't have just by reading the book. I am going to take the road test before the end of the year, and the driving sessions have me prepared for it. It takes practice on one's own time to perfect whats been taught, but it sticks in your head.

I called them for information about the academy. Bad attitude.

The people here are very respectful and pleasant to work with. I was helped in under 30 minutes in receiving a new license.

The woman who greeted us obviously hates her job. She was rude beyond understanding and seemed determined to tear us down any way she could. She was cold, robotic, and indifferent. Sent us away because we didn’t have a document, then when we came back 20 minutes later she said we needed a different document. When I suggested they list this info on the website she looked blankly at me and said yeah sure whatever. Stay far away.
