My doughter was in the nicu for 2 months. This was our first child. I worked 3 days on 2 days off 2 days on. We were up there on all my days off. The nurses are super fake to the point where you can't stand them. They take notes on everything you say and use it against you I'll explain in a little bit. The nurses asked us about our personal life. They had us meet with the social worker her name was Chris. They also had us meet with the health psych. I ADVISE YOU TELL THEM YOU DONT WANT THEIR SERVICE. if you don't they will keep coming. They all talk about you behind your back. .........."............ This is when it all happened ........ One normal day my wife and I were at home and we got a phone call it was child protective services. Saying they got a call and that the mom freezes up when baby crys. And mom hasn't changed one diaper. THIS IS A LIE WE TOOK TURNS. The worker also said that they also said that they thought I was going to volintairally say no to head start. They never even brought head start to my attention??? And that she went up to see our baby..???? Whatttt the nicu didn't bother to tell us? As we dug deeper we found out that it was the American family children's hospital that called the cps on us. My wife broke down into tears and I took over yelling at the cps worker I told her I wasn't answering any questions without an attorney. She said we may not need to take this to court. But if you hire an attorney we will place your child into protective custody. That day I hired an attorney. The next day we went up to the nicu one of the nurses said she was sorry cps was called. Come to find out it was HER!!! We had a meeting with the social worker, hospital social worker, me, my wife, a nurse, a doctor, neonatologist, uw lawyer, and our lawyer. The social worker said it was a neglect /abuse case. They later changed that. IF I d. EVER HAVE ANOTHER KID I WILL NEVER TAKE THEM HERE. EVER!!!!! They gave my wife a hard time. They were out to get her. They wouldn't let me record. They went as far as giving me a packet on their policy, but it's ok for them to record you. They have recording devices. Our lawyer said to be there at all times. And to do all cares. If they try to do them say NO I WANT TO DO IT. we did not loose our kid she went home. Now they made us go on a program called 0-3. These people come to your home. And take notes on you. When will we be able to rase our kid alone. It's all because one nurse was a cun*. I hope the worst thing happens to the person that called. What a sick individual. They try to keep it confidential on what nurse called. The cps worker said that before the meeting she talked to the nurse that called. We know who it was. I ADVISE YOU DONT GO TAKE YOUR CHILD HERE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE SO YOU CAN BE A FAMILY. I will never return here as if two months wasn't enough they wanted my baby girl forever. She will grow up with her mommy and daddy like it aught to be.

This hospital is the best. My daughter was diagnosed with subglottic stenosis back in November by our local ENT because she kept getting croup. When he could not clip her laryngeal web, he sent us to American Family Children's Hospital. She had airway reconstruction in April. It is a miracle that had this surgery because she is doing much better. Her breathing is not noisy and she is talking much more. Because of her condition, she had a speech delay. I can't thank Dr. McMurray enough for what he has done for my daughter. Also, the doctors and nurses in the Pediatric ICU were very compassionate and caring and interested in my daughter's well being and they also became part of our family. So, from the bottom of my family's heart-thank you to everyone from the surgeons and the PICU staff and general peds staff. Thank you!

We were checked over an hour ago in the emergency room, just need release papers. Hour later still waiting. Meanwhile there is a screaming baby in the room next to us that hasn't even been seen yet, they have been here an hour. Their excuse, we only have one doctor on staff here this morning. ONE DOCTOR in an emergency room. Absolutely ridiculous!

Our son had surgery with Dr Von Bergen. Wow what an amazing doctor. He is truely an expert in his field. Our nurse was Mary. She was absolutely wonderful. The whole staff in the Cardio unit was so amazing. From the pre appoint, talking to Sheri to the anesthesiologist. The whole process could not have gone better. I am so thankful for all the amazing care we received.

Not Helpful! My baby was throwing up for a week straight. All I got was it’s a stomach virus (guessing). They gave nausea medicine but didn’t work. No test was done to rule out other possibilities. I decided to take her to Children’s Hosptail of Wisconsin and they didn’t have no problem running testes and seeing if the MILK will stay DOWN. They had better remedies and solutions. So if your kid have serious issues take him or her to CHILDREN'S.

When I took my son there for an appointment, I was very disappointed in the staff . Going to a children's hospital you expect a certain level of positivity and energy when you work with children . The building is easy to spot as you come up the hill on Highland Ave; it will be to your right. Valet parking is available at the first drive, or continue around to the parking garage. Everyone working here is nice, friendly. They know they are dealing with children and their families and seem to know that if you are there it isn't really where you want to be, and they do their best to help you. My daughter has had to stay there on two occasions, and each time the staff has been fantastic. Rooms, hallways ,everything is decorated nicely. It doesn't feel like a hospital. Food is very good. Hospitals are scary places for children especially and this one does everything possible to put that fear at ease for the kids and their families. Messed up my infant nephew's intestinal surgery last year by not suturing properly, putting him at risk for septic shock. Also misdiagnosed a massive eye infection as a stye without looking into it further. Very poor communication and lack of respect towards the parents. Definitely do not recommend if you are a young parent with tattoos, as they seem to discriminate towards them.

God bless this hospital and its entire staff. If you are a parent, you know the fear of having a sick child hospitalized. It takes a lot to feel comfort in such situations. But the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, kitchen staff, clerical, volunteers, everyone there goes out if their way to bring comfort to both patient and child. They allowed both my husband and me to sleep in the room with our child during the entire week long stay. They included us in the decisions with every step of treatment. We were treated with respect, compassion and most importantly good care. I feel they saved our Childs life and for that we will always be eternally grateful!

When the unthinkable happens and you end up in an Emergency Room and then middle of the night emergency surgery for your 10 year old son, this is the place you want to be. The STAFF works to develop a relationship with their patients and PARENTS are included as part of the medical TEAM. I can't tell you how much every single STAFF member left a POSITIVE caring impression with us. They felt like FAMILY, yes even the Attending Surgeons who sat with us and explained every part of his first surgery and second surgery. Seriously, the best place ever for those times when you are below the wellness line.

They saved my baby from a coma or possibly worse. Excellent care from the doctors, nurses, staff, etc. If your baby has an emergency you need to come here. Thank goodness they are here because Meriter has been terrible.
