I don't even want to give one star. He needs new front office staff. My husband and I live in Beckley over an hour away. We were 15 minutes late because we couldn't find parking and traffic is rediculous. We get up there and the front desk chick gives us a dirty look and says can I help you with a dirty look. We tell her we are here for the appt and she says well you're 15 minutes late so we may not even be able to see you. I said well thanks for letting us know that prior to the appointment. We have to drive over an hour to get here. This is absolutely rediculous. And now apparently we aren't even going to be seen because no one told us we had to have his MRI disc

Dr. Schmidt saved my life 26 years ago when I was just 6 weeks old & my parents found out I had hydrocephalus. He placed a shunt in me that runs from my skull to my stomach. It malfunctioned once 14 years ago & he fixed it. If it wasn't for him & the grace of God, I wouldn't be here today!!! Everyone in the office has always been very kind to me over the years.

Office staff are rude and very unhelpful. Any questions you have they act as if you are a burden to them and offer no assistance in finding the answers you are looking for

This review is for the scheduling department, specifically "Missy" and her lack of compassion and duty to patients. I called and left a message last week upon hearing that the referral had been sent prior in preparation for the paddle lead stimulator procedure, however it has been 1 week and had NOT gotten return phone call so took initiative and called to inquire as to the whereabouts we were on scheduling the procedure. I was informed by Missy that they have over 100 patient referrals and that I must wait for it to be processed. Just for giggles, i have been waiting since early 2017... my trial stimulator was installed early November 2018 and removed, it was a smashing success in my opinion and eagerly awaiting the permanent impant. Not sure where the lines of communication were blurred but 2 years waiting while constantly being threatened of loosing critical medication due to the current state of affairs is discerning and frightening. To me it appears that Missy is either overworked or blatantly inconsiderate to those who are indeed CPPs and require procedures. It may have been just a hectic Monday morning but sympathy was no where to be found in her voice... My first contact and impression is that your pain is not her concern and therefore WE MUST ALL suffer under her scheduling regime. Dr. Schmit and Dr. Deere are phenomenal.. would recommend them in a heartbeat.

So far I have been disappointed in this office. After my 1st visit I was scheduled to have an EMG done. It was completed on May 25th, my F/U appointment was June 5th to get the results and to talk about where to go from here. The wait was not that long to be called back to a room. Once in the room the staff asked me if I had the results for my EMG? I said no, the order that the Dr. had that was doing my EMG did not even have Dr. S. name on it. I waited for the staff to get the results then another nurse came in and asked if I had my MRI disc? I told her no, I left it here the last appointment. I said that the woman that called to reschedule this appointment said that she would call and get the images transferred electronically. I told her that would be great because it was difficult to get the 1st disc. Well I guess she did not do that because they did not have my images to look at again. The Dr. wanted to do surgery but I asked him to try at least getting shots in my neck first to see if that works before surgery. He agreed. I told him I have a 3 hour drive to get to Charleston I would like to see if the shots can be done closer to my home. He said no problem, we will give you a call when we get it scheduled. Then the nurse came in to let me leave and said that she would get the appointment scheduled here in Charleston. I said no I need it closer to home and she said that the Dr. didn't say anything about that. It has now been 5 days and I have yet to here from this office about an appointment. I realize it may take a couple of weeks or so to get an appointment but it should not take a week for someone to call to make the appointment. So far I don't mind the Dr., he can talk where I'm not sure what he is talking about, but he does explain things in layman's terms. I am more disappointed in the staff taking so long to get things done.
