If you need a civil surgeon in Seattle for some immigration forms, BEWARE, Dr. Griffin is a con-artist and scammer deluxe. She will charge you $173 for a "paperwork fee". This fee is not regulated by the USCIS, any government agency, nor your insurance! It is solely the discretion of the doctor. The doctor pays $613 to register as a civil surgeon which actually costs the doctor nothing because it is a tax write off-business expenses! So if you think a doctors signature is worth $173 of your hard earned cash, then by all means, indulge yourself, if not, shop around, find the best price. There are civil surgeons in Seattle who charge $50, and others, who if covered under a reasonable medical insurance plan (as my wife was) might even let you fly with a page by page fee of not more than $25.
Depending on your insurance status, Dr. Griffin may charge you more or less of a "paperwork fee", to cover the insurance discounted price of the physical and pass it on to yourself, the patient. This is called balance billing and is illegal to do except under the loop-hole premise of completing paperwork that isn't for medical purposes (for immigration purposes). The good news is, I have a lawyer, his name is/was Eric Holder and I will make the case to close the loophole.
The office manager lied two times, first telling me, "our office manager isn't here, call back on Monday" and when I showed up at the office on Monday, Me: "the paperwork fee is the same price as the discounted insurance payment." His reply, "No, it's not". How can you tell me blatantly to my face that $173 is not a rounded up version of $172.48? At least acknowledge what you are doing, even if it is un-ethical!! This is not how I expect to be treated by medical professionals. Dr. Griffin personally threatened to report my wife to the USCIS for delinquent bills if I didn't pay the paperwork fee and asked if I was working with a lawyer?? This medical practice is a money making scam. Save your money, go somewhere else, please!
This is another broken health care/immigration system failure, giving doctors "free reign" believing in good faith they will set fair market prices for the completion of a very simple form, but instead, they prey on immigrants to fulfill their business plan needs. Most don't even understand this is a capitalistic market, they think it's a prescribed fee coming from the government, but of course that is never explained! Doctors, newsflash, just because you paid way too much for your education and are paying way too much for your mal-practice insurance, doesn't mean your paperwork skills are worth $700 an hour.
