REVIEWS OF Swinyard Michael T MD IN Utah

Carla Mylastname

I have never waited less than 30 minutes, even when I am the second patient of the day. I have waited up to 50 minutes but if you are 15 minutes late, they charge you 35 and send you away. He used to be more personal but he has gotten less and less interested in my daughter or in any questions I have. On our most recent visit, after a 40 minute wait, he came in the room, looked at her for 2 minutes and then showed me what he had written about the visit before he even saw us. (This included "It was good seeing her today" He had not seen her yet.) I had to stop him from leaving the room to ask my questions. He is supposed to be an endocrinologist, but he is only interested in her thyroid, any other questions are swept aside. I waited 40 minutes for 4 minutes of his time and we were out the door.

If I could give him 0 Stars, I would. My daughter has severe problems with Thyroiid to name a few. She is on several medications. After repeated requests to have Dr Swinyard call us, he not only didn't call he would have is secretary call whom was very rude. Wouldn't allow us to come in for another appointment for refills on medication due to a $35 ballance. I have never been treated so horrible by a Dr. Please go somewhere else. This place should be shut down

Doctor Swinyard had been my endo since I was 2 or 3 I'm 24 now. He is one of my best friends. He knows what he's doing, very knowledge and he is a great person.

Matt Feil

Dr. Swinyard is a great doctor IF you can get through to him. His staff is ABSOLUTELY THE WORST! They are rude and completely unhelpful. My husband is a physician and cannot believe how his staff treats patients. I would hope Dr. Swinyard would read these reviews and make some changes. If you need to see an endocrinologist who will work with you, keep looking. Dr. Swinyard isn't worth trying to deal with his staff.

This man is very loud and aggressive. He loves to hear himself talk and refuses to listen. Find someone else!

Love Dr swinyard been his patient since 15vmonths old

Milena Casper

Dr. Swinyard is very rude. He would not listen to my concerns at all. Basically told me to shut up because he was talking. After paying so much money to go see him (twice) I will never return! Ever again! He can be a very prideful person and does not listen or care about a mother’s concern. I have never met a Doctor so rude in my entire life!. Also the wait is horrible, and after waiting for so long he comes in says what he thinks is going on and leaves. No questions were answered or asked! He thinks he is superior to everyone. Super prideful.

I do not know who on earth Rich Barton is talking about. Dr. Swinyard is one of the greatest doctors and man I have ever known. He is completely service oriented, and truly cares about his patients. He is a type 1 diabetic so can really relate with his diabetic patients. He is so kind, and encouraging and you never leave feeling sad. He also has a clinic in Montana that he travels to frequently, because they have very few endocrinologists available there. He is trying to make the world a better place and is actually succeeding. Oh and as for making money rather than doing what is best for his clients, I know that to be false because he does not support any insurance companies so that he will not be bias when instructing his patience which medications they should take. I love doctor Swinyard and think that he is fantastic!

Katrina Bleyl

Dr. Swinyard has been amazing to work with. He has gotten my son to be ok with Diabetes and not hate it and himself anymore. He looks forward to his visits with him. He is great to work with. I would highly recommend him to everyone.

We have seen Chad Barnett (Dr. Swinyard's PA) every visit since our son's first visit, I think originally because he is easier to schedule with. Chad is always very good with my son and takes time to talk to us and discuss any questions we have.

Rich Barton

Dr. Swinyard is very moody and self-serving. When it comes down to it he is most interested in making money rather than doing what is best for his clients. He can be a very prideful person.

Jillian Pitre

We met with Dr Swinyard for my daughter and were VERY impressed with his bedside manner. He was the perfect balance of fun and informative. He listened to our concerns and made us feel like we are on the right path. Before this appointment, I logged on and read some of the negative reviews and almost cancelled my appointment. I then decided we would still see him but expected to be underwhelmed. Then Dr. Swinyard came in and we were floored at how great he is. I honestly can't say one negative thing about him. Ignore the negative reviews... this guy is great!!

That Guy

Very pleased with Dr. Swinyard. His knowledge and experience with T1D has given us the ability to take good care of our son which we are very thankful for. He has established a very good relationship with my son and us as the parents. His office staff can be frustrating but I think they have made improvements over the last year or so and things have gotten better.

I have been with mike swinyard since I was a year old! I love mike! And I love Chad! Both amazing and always answer and help me with any questions or concerns! I saw other reviews of people being upset that they are located in a basement? Truly is not a big deal and doesn’t feel like a basement! The only issues I have are 2 things, 1 almost every time I have called I have had to leave a voicemail, it is honestly really hard to get in contact with them, and the second thing is the staff is always hit or miss! It’s either they are super nice and friendly or extremely rude and unwilling to help or work with you. I wish that could get under control but what can yah do?

Kathryn Moss

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but my daughter and I have been so frustrated with our experience with Dr. Swinyard and his office. We are always kept waiting at least 45 minutes before we see the doctor-even when there is only one other patient in the office. Then he comes in without even apologizing. Our first visit, we waited an hour. Then he spent just a couple minutes with us. He always dismisses our concerns and his go to method has just been to haver my daughter come back every three months to see if anything has changed-even though he isn't subscribing anything or having her try anything. The issue she has been dealing with has been going on for over 2 years and nothing is changing, but he still just brushes aside our concerns and wants to keep waiting and seeing. I had to wait a week and call three times to finally get them to call me back about her test results, and the receptionist is very unhelpful and unsympathetic. We will be going somewhere else.

Jacquilyn Dawson

His staff is the worst I have ever met. It takes at least 10 phone calls to get a refill between my pharmacy and them, the billing staff has billed me instead of my son even when I pointed it out. They did it again while I was on the phone. I am trying to switch Drs, but I can't because the other Dr wants to see medical records. I sent my signed request a month ago and they still haven't sent them over. I mentioned to Dr. Swinyard a year ago that I was having problems with his staff in billing and refilling prescriptions and he said he was going to have a meeting with his staff. It is worse! Stay away from this office! He repeatedly called my son "her" even after I corrected him.

Doctor Swinyard has been my Endocrinologist for the past 19 years. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about him. He truly cares about his patients. He is a Diabetic himself, so he is understanding and knows firsthand what his patients have to deal with on a day to day basis. He is always positive and friendly.

Suzy Carlisle

Dr. Swinyard is very knowledgeable, yet personable with the kids. We have been going to him for over 4 years now and have always had great visits. My daughter thinks he is great and so do we!!

Rach C

He does great with little kids. He is super nice and my daughter likes him. He breaks down everything that he is writing and answers any questions. They offer little toys to kids for coming in as well which keeps the kids want to go again. The wait time to see him can be extremely painful. I've had to wait 1- 1 1/2hrs after my appt to finally get my daughter seen. Other then that, great staff and a wonderful doc.

One of the best doctors has helped me out so much

Michael Benedict

He is a great Doctor. He cares about my kids and he is very open to explaining every detail with me, when it comes to their treatment.

Emery Pease

He made me what to become a pediatric endocrinologist like him.

We switched to Dr. Swinyard a year ago and are soooo happy we did! He identifies with my teenage son so much better than the previous doctors. We always go away feeling wiser and pumped up to handle this disease (T1D). Also, he's typically very on time and thorough, which I really appreciate!

Dr. Swinyard is the best of the best! He has taken amazing care of our young adult son since diagnosed with t1d at age 2yrs. He has been so encouraging to both our son, and us as parents, in dealing with this insidious disease, especially during the teenage years. He genuinely cares about his patients, and their caretakers. Would recommend him 110%.

If I could give a negative 10 stars I would. I rarely leave reviews, but they certainly have their place on occasion. We were their patents for over 2 years, approaching three years (2 kids being seen). Nothing against Swinyard himself. While a nice man and a decent doctor, members of his staff, his office facilities, office management, and business practices in general are inadequate. The list of frustrations is long, but I will leave a few highlights. 1) Their main receptionist is very rude. Indifferent, unkind, and cold. 2) They are a pediatric office, yet do not have one single item for children in their office (with exception of a book about a diabetic girl, that seems to have been donated once upon a time). While we normally only have 2 kids there, on a few occasions we had 4 kids in the office. This is certainly our issue to worry about, but the dearth of "pediatric" items makes bringing any children along a frenetic and aggravating experience. 3) Adding to #2, the wait times are absurd. We received advice from a nurse on which appointment times were quickest. We religiously scheduled these appointments each time, and the minimum wait time was 30 minutes. Average wait times were much longer. With a flock of children, wait times seem longer and are many times exaggerated as a result. However, 30 minutes was the absolute quickest time we were admitted in nearly 3 years. 4) Adding to #3, when you show up you are required to fill out a 3 page health history... every time for each child. This is a requirement even when all information is exactly the same as the last x# of appointments. Add another 10-15 minutes to your wait time in #3. 5) Appointments are typically available 3 months out. While each appointment is 3 months apart, if you have any appointment changes or need to schedule a more urgent appointment... your nearest availability is 3 months out with no flexibility, empathy, or willingness to even try to be helpful (see #1). 6) Be sure to calendar your appointments and do not forget to set self-reminders. They send a "helpful" reminder text 2 or 3 weeks prior to your appointment. In nearly 3 years we missed one appointment, and were charged $70 as a result... (see #1 and #5). 7) Parking is a nightmare and the office is in a dingy basement. You will get used to it over time, but it's not particularly easy, inviting, or otherwise patient-oriented. My wife and I are not high-maintenence people, I would consider us as fairly laid back. It's probably the reason it took us nearly 3 years before these issues became enough to move on and find something better. If the reasons above are not of major concern to you, you'll find this office adequate. The medicine practiced is competent, and the overall sentiment from Swinyard himself is positive. The location is okay, and many doctors in the valley refer to Swinyard. For us, we finally couldn't handle feeling like our patronage didn't matter and that we as patients were of little importance.

We love Dr. Swinyard. He is great with children and young adults. My questions are always answered. Great staff.

Alexandra Hansen

Dr. Swinyard is the best doctor! He changed my life and I have nothing but great things to say about him! I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

I have been taking my son to see Dr Swinyard (Chad) for 8 plus years now. He is amazing.

Marci Pickett

Dr. Swinyard has given us all the information and help we needed in assisting our children with GH issues. In face, the GH distributor we work with, praises Dr. Swinyard for his thorough and accurate diagnosis and maintenance of his patients. If only you could solely work with the Doctor! His staff is unruly, unhelpful and sees patients as only problematic. Each time we arrive for an appointment (on time) we wait a full hour until we are finally able to meet with the Doctor. I notice the way they talk and treat the incoming/outgoing patients and it is with the same bad behavior. Calling into the office takes numerous attempts - frequently disconnected or forgotten - this has happened to us EVERY time we have called in! (4 times) When they billed us incorrectly, we called to inquire about it, the young lady never expressed an apology or acknowledgement that it was their error, only "I don't have that amount owing on my side so I don't know what you are talking about". We've really struggled staying with the office- as you know, you deal more with the staff than the Doctor and we cringe every time we have to call/communicate with them! A trip to the U might be worth avoiding them..

David Russell

Dr. Swinyard is kind and professional. He won over my teenage daughter and gained her trust. (Not an easy feat) He has literally changed our lives for the better and helped us manage our diabetic challenges. I cannot say enough good about him.

Stuart Taylor

Worst staff ever. I am put on hold every single time we call in and not for just a minute or two- at least ten! They are so rude and couldn't care less about it. Not helpful and really bad with kids. Dr. Swinyard's staff is just impossible to work with. Will never go here again because of it or would I recommend anyone I know to go here. I would think Dr. Swinyard would be well aware of all the problems going on up front- hopefully he can get a clue quickly!

Matthew Pack

My son has been seeing Dr. Swinyard now for almost 3 years since his diagnosis. The best thing about our visits is that they are always on time and encouraging. We have never had to wait more than a few minutes to see the Doctor on our appointment dates. We initially were seeing a different pediatric endocrinologist near the U of U hospital but felt that our options were limited with care and impersonal from the staff and doctors at the clinic there. So a change of insurance policy prompted us to look for another doctor and we are so thankful for the change. Since going to see Dr. Swinyard and his staff we have felt that our care and attention to what our son needs have increased 100 fold. Dr. Swinyard and his staff provide very clear instructions and always answer our questions thoroughly and are helpful with whatever need we have. Dr. Swinyard makes great efforts to stay current with technological advances and research in the diabetic field. At the same time he is very conscious of working with his patients to work on effective long term care and preventative treatments. If you are looking for personal attention from a doctor and staff that truly care - go visit!
