For how much they charge, you'd think you'll be getting more. Actually, the wait time is pretty long. Don't get me wrong, they do provide excellent treatment. They can use a bit of re-structuring to make things more efficient.

I have been going to MDANDERSON for bout 4 years. Then I was in a crisis without being able to get my Revlimid chemo medication for almost a month I had called my doctor Donna Weber for some support either by just talking to me about what can happen to me being off my meds that long, my cancer can be aggressive, I left several messages, but no call back EVER. I was in tears shaking scared mad I didn't know what to do and nobody called me I had to figure it out on my own. I thought Mda Anderson was a good hospital until I realized we are only numbers in their game and they don't care. And now I have found out if you are an individual with cancer and your not in a group insurance policy you cannot go to Md Anderson even if you live here in America that's a sad sad thing. Kiss My Ass MD ANDERSON! Thanks for nothing

Experimenters left an owl monkey in a cage that went through a scalding-hot, high-pressure washer. A federal report noted that the monkey’s body was so mutilated that it was impossible to determine an exact cause of death.

My husband was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer. We were advised to go to MD Anderson for a second opinion. After a six week frustrating process of making phone calls every single day we finally made the flight to Texas to meet with their specialist. He walked into the room and told us he didn't know why we were there because they needed the sample from our initial surgery/tumor. Six weeks of calling every single day asking them if they needing anything and they never said anything. They let us take off work, fly to Texas, get hotel rooms and show up for an appointment that they knew wasn't necessary. After WE made arrangements to have the sample sent to MD Anderson they told us they would look at it and give us results a few days later. The night before they were going to give us results they called and cancelled. We flew home with no answers. If MD Anderson is one of the top rated cancer hospitals we are in serious trouble. As far as I am concerned, they should have to pay our hotel, parking, food, travel and missed wages for their mistakes and for them to sit in front of us and say, "Ooops! Sorry."

They are GOOD and friendly and kind

Glenelyn Callison

Everyone is so friendly and helpful. They don't show you the way:they take you there! The quality of care is tops! YOU are the most important person and they make you feel like it. I have friends who were given up on and told to prepare to die before going to MDAnderson. After going to MDAnderson, they found they were mis-diagnosed and are living productive lives. MDAnderson is about LIVING!

I've been with Dr. Keating, Alice, Coy, and Jackie (my Team) since day 1 nearly 6 years ago and I hit the lotto. They are diligent, competent, and compassionate. I'm blessed to have them on my team and blessed to be at MDA.

I've been visiting MD Anderson for several months and am always treated well but the valet process is really a pain. Many times, we can't event drive into the area to leave our car because it's so busy. What is the point of having a valet service if customers are not able to use it? On two occasions we have encountered a valet supervisor or manager named Bobi and she is absolutely horrible to deal with. She is demeaning, rude and overly aggressive with the customers. She was verbally abusive to my mother when we stopped to ask why we couldn't use the valet service and very discourteous to several other patrons. We come here for treatment and should be treated like a patient...not a problem. I don't know why she's allowed to work in customer service...she clearly has not idea what that is.

My family doctor is currently testing me for Cushions Syndrome. I am researching Doctor's who treat Cushions. A doctor at this facility is on the list. After reading some very negative reviews especially the one from the the Doctor who was referring his patients to this hospital, I will continue my research and hope this world famous hospitial turns its care around for the sake of these patients who deserve excellant care.

An awesome array of service!

Everyone is very nice and understanding. There is great care here and they do what they can to help. I'm truly thankful for the work these people do.

It's been a long time since Mother came to MD Anderson from Alabama for treatment. Unfortunately at the young age of 44, she lost her battle with Breast Cancer about one year after leaving MDA, but I just wanted to brag on this facility a little bit because Mother received TOP NOTCH care and service while there. They were so caring and compassionate in my Mom's care, and they treated her AND US like family. People come from all over the world for treatment at MDA, what they do is truly impressive. THANK YOU to all who helped with my Mother's care.

MD Anderson saved my husband's life. This is the most comprehensive and fantastic cancer center in the country.

I don't doubt that MD Anderson has helped some cancer victims, but we had a terrible experience there. My sister was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma. We had heard that MDA was a leader in advanced treatment options. We researched the hospital and called them and asked if they might be able to help. They strongly encouraged us to bring her to Houston for evaluation. They first instructed us to have all her records transferred, including biopsy specimens. When we got to MDA, we waited several hours to see the doctor. He discussed my sister's situation, but did no further testing. He told us he would consult with a panel at the hospital and make recommendations to my sister's local oncologist. He emphatically agreed to offer ongoing consultation, and stated that this would not require any further trips to Houston. Many weeks passed after our visit before the MDA doctor finally sent his recommendations. The local oncologist never heard back after the initial recommendations, so my sister's husband wrote several emails to the MDA doctor asking for further guidance. The doctor finally responded that he would have to see the patient before he could make any further recommendations. The bottom line: MD Anderson encouraged a very sick person to make the journey to Houston, only to provide a consultation that could have been done on the phone, did no further testing, and failed to provide the promised ongoing guidance to the local oncologist.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center (colloquially MD Anderson) is one of the original three comprehensive cancer centers in the United States. It is both a degree-granting academic institution, and a cancer treatment and research center located at the Texas Medical Center in Houston. MD Anderson was created by an act of the Texas Legislature in 1941, making it a part of The University of Texas System and was established by the National Cancer Act of 1971. Today it is one of 45 Comprehensive Cancer Centers designated by the National Cancer Institute. The cancer center provided care for about 127,000 patients in Fiscal Year 2014 and employs more than 20,000 people. It is affiliated with The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and Baylor College of Medicine. MD Anderson has an endowment of $486 million as of November 30, 2014.In 2017, it has been ranked #1 for cancer care in USA by the U.S. News and World Report. The cancer center is named after Monroe Dunaway Anderson, a banker and cotton trader from Jackson, Tennessee. He was a member of a business partnership with his brother-in-law Will Clayton. Their company became the largest cotton company in the world. Anderson feared that in the event of one of the partners' deaths, the company would lose a large amount of money to estate tax and be forced to dissolve. To avoid this, Anderson created the MD Anderson Foundation with an initial sum of $300,000. In 1939 after Anderson's death, the foundation received $19 million. In 1941 the Texas Legislature had appropriated $500,000 to build a cancer hospital and research center. The Anderson Foundation agreed to match funds with the state if the hospital were located in Houston in the Texas Medical Center (another project of the Anderson Foundation) and named after Anderson. Using surplus World War II Army barracks, the hospital operated for 10 years from a converted residence and 46 beds leased in a Houston hospital before moving to its current location in 1954. The institution became the subject of controversy in 2005, when it leased the use of its name to private investors who intended to promote a particular therapeutic approach, proton therapy. An article in the Houston Chronicle suggested that the arrangement between the Center and the investors might skew incentives, providing M.D. Anderson with non-medical reasons to "send as many patients as possible into the program. MD Anderson is focused on research on causes, treatments, and prevention of cancer, with the stated mission of "Making Cancer History." In FY 2014, about 8,000 patients participated in therapeutic clinical research exploring novel treatments, making it the largest program of its kind in the United States. Being part of The University of Texas System, MD Anderson Cancer Center is managed under a nonprofit structure; however, for-profit agreements have caused some to question the motives of the center. MD Anderson enjoys university status by providing fellowship, internship and residency opportunities to Ph.D.s and medical professionals. The institution offers master's degrees and Ph.D.s to students enrolled in The University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, which it operates with UT Health Science Center at Houston. Areas of study include: immunology, cancer biology, genes and development, molecular carcinogenesis, medical physics, biomathematics and biostatistics, experimental therapeutics, and virology and gene therapy. Through its School of Health Professions, the cancer center also offers bachelor's degrees in nine allied health fields, including clinical laboratory science, cytogenetic technology, cytotechnology, diagnostic imaging, histotechnology, medical dosimetry, molecular genetic technology and radiation therapy. The school also offers a master of science in diagnostic genetics program.

Really dislike the non english speaking/ thick accents. I could not understand anything that is being said especially when it came to medical terms. The phone call took way too long and I feel that neither of us understood each other enough to get anything accomplished. I understand this is a great hospital but when the representative on the line get frustrated with the customer calling in because i can't hear past his thick accent, that's a problem for me.

I always thought living in Houston was a blessing because I had the best cancer center but I was wrong. I have donated money for many years and I regret it, I was given the worst news ever my father went to the ER with blood clots and then we discovered he has cancet, I decided I wanted him treated at MD Anderson so when I called to get him in they called me back and said they can't see him because his out patient coverage is not effective, this place has no compassion of anyone I learned they are all about the money they leave you to die, they didn't offer to transfer my call to anyone that can help financially, Im very heartbroken. Dont donate money to these people please just help families. I always donated thinking what if someday I need them and guess what I really needed them and they turned me down God will make justice.

Abi S

It was a great place until my Father stopped responding to their treatment. Then they refused to return phone calls, shuffled him from one Doctor to another with no communication between the staff. They would not listen to anything the family told them about his condition. He did not make it, which is the cancer's fault. But it was an awful and quick ending and I blame that on MD Anderson staff because he stopped fitting their research subject criteria. After the fact I wish we had gone to somewhere more focused on treatment and recovery than on research. He might have had an extra year that way.

Feb 2018: If you are not doing chemotherapy the doctors try to convince you to do it and lose interest in you once you decide not too. Also, don’t believe in their integrated medicine department. As soon as Dr. Liu finds out your not doing chemo she sends you straight to ER. The whole system is linked to lure you in so you become an inpatient. As soon as we arrived ER, the nurse says “would you like chemo”? Like it’s a hot selling candy bar. They make their money from chemo. Don’t fall for it. Even if chemo works out for you, the cancer usually comes back and much more aggressive. There are many other ways. Read up on natural cancer cures. Chemo is not a natural substance. It’s a chemical that has no relation to the human body and over 90 percent of doctors will never take chemo themselves. We are dealing with stage IV cancer without chemo, radiation, or any of those things. And not because of insurance. They would cover it %100 if we wanted it. Like I said it’s all linked. Why do you think insurance doesn’t cover natural or holistic cancer cures? One answer, there’s not enough money to be made from it. It’s a real thing and it’s all about who and what you know. Look into the history behind how chemo started and you will be shocked. We couldn’t even get MD Anderson to review her last CT scan and compare it to the most recent one. My wife spent 6 nights in your hospital and we asked everyday for them to do the comparison so we know if things are getting better or worse. None of the doctors cared to do it. But they would jump at the first opportunity to load my wife up on IV bags full of chemical infused fluids that would slowly kill her. My wife couldn't even get the right sized hospital gown to wear while she stayed at this hospital. They said all they carried at the time was xtra large. That’s what the nurse claimed anyway. And the nurse insisted that she wear it even though she only weighed 90 pounds at the time. She could of just let her wear her pajamas. They are making millions of dollars from injecting people with chemo and can't afford a gown?! Unbelievable. The nurse also claimed they only had one size of NG tube and insisted that it’s the only size that works. It hardly could fit into her nose and it was very painful each day she had that tube. My wife is an experienced RN with 20 years of experience and she was the charge nurse. It's not a one size fits all when it comes to NG tubes. And even the smaller tubes get the job done when decompressing someone that hasn’t eaten for days. The name of the nurse was Ms. Hong. She was terrible and so were the doctors. I don’t believe it’s just one or two people to avoid at this hospital. It’s the central concept. Most of the doctors who came by the room expressed how much they didn't recommend our natural method of treatment. Well, IT WORKS. And thank god we didn't listen to them. There's no way my wife would be alive today if we fell into the trap of chemo. Besides, why would we do chemo when it's only been proven to extend the lives of those with her condition by only a couple of months. Makes more sense to make an attempt to cure it through natural means. Which turned out to be a great choice. They don’t care if your cancer is going away or not. Most cancer patients do not die from the cancer. It’s from the chemo itself. This hospital has never earned the right to draw a line through the word “Cancer” on their logo. Update May 2018: It has been 10 months since my wife was diagnosed with stage IV cancer. We have surpassed the life expectancy provided by several different doctors. We are still keeping it all natural and doing better than we were before. She is slowly gaining back strength, eating more, and in less pain. It’s all about healing your body from what comes from the earth in its natural state, keeping a positive mind, and praying to god. Don’t poison your body with chemo. God bless you all.

The administration of this hospital is a nightmare. Other than that, the pathologist in my home state sent them 2 slides, which were also sent to Dana Farber. Dana Farber diagnosis was completely different from the report done in Alabama. So I wanted to get copy of the report from MD Anderson. I received a bill for $132 on January 11, so I knew (or thought) their pathologist had read my slides and that would be tie breaker. I got a copy of Report today and MY SLIDES WERE NOT REVIEWED. I contacted pathology dot and they argu d with me even though it cl Arley states SLIDES NOT REVIEWED AT MDACC. Number 1 in country? Think again.

When it comes to cancer treatment it is the only place to go. A very friendly environment with the most willing and helpful staff you would ever want to encounter. Treatments were scheduled and always on time. Results was outstanding.

My mom was diagnosed with glioblastoma (brain cancer). She went through the standard 1 year chemo/radiation treatment and about a month after finishing, an MRI revealed the cancer started growing again. They contacted MD Anderson (MDA) and Duke for trials. The Duke trial didn't work out so they went with MDA. From day 1, they have struggled with the doctors to get answers to simple questions. For instance, the doctors said she couldn't begin treatment because her steroid dose had changed within the last 5 days. No one told them this information, nor was it included with the paperwork given to my dad. So this delayed treatment for 5 days, and required another MRI and bloodwork. Later, it turns out that this detail excludes patients with this type of cancer. Another example. My parents flew home back home (9 hr flight to Hawaii) between treatments 2 and 3. They had been living in the hotel for about a month and needed to get home to take care of things, and my dad had to get back to work. They were home roughly 1 week when my mom regressed and needed to up the steroid dose. Their doctor at home ordered another MRI and these details sent back to Houston. My parents were cleared by their doctor at home, who supposedly discussed her situation with the lead trial doctor at MDA. So they made arrangements to fly back for the third treatment. Since they were booking last minute, and looking for a nonstop flight to make it easy on my mom who is now in a wheel chair (still about 8 hrs travel time), the tickets were pretty expensive, $1200 one way per person. When they get to MDA, the doctors do the normal blood work (which they say MUST be done at MDA), then meet with the doctors. The doctors apparently decided a week prior that she couldn't be in the trial due to the regression. WHY COULDN'T THEY SAY THIS OVER PHONE OR EMAIL?? My dad had called multiple times every day the few days prior to leaving to see if she was still considered for the trial? So in essence, the doctors LIED, since they knew before they left, that she couldn't continue. These are just two example of many, many frustrating instances. From misinformation, unable/unwilling to validate parking, delayed appointments (on the order of 2+ hours), unable/unwilling to give food vouchers, unwilling to answer emails/phone calls. The list of disappointments they've received while working with MDA is atrocious. Spend less on advertising and more on patient care and compassion. Then maybe MDA wouldn't have to milk patients for unnecessary procedures and unhelpful appointments. My mom could have started the alternate standard treatment at home instead of flying 8 hours to Houston and being jerked around. Her life is worth more than that. MDA is just a poor excuse and I'm saddened to think that is the 'best' option for those undergoing cancer treatment.

Liked it.

Cutting edge cancer care.

Tyler Briceno

Our experience with MDA has been way beyond 5 stars. The staff in all have all been exceptional, from greeters, traffic control, cleaning staff to our medical team. The prayers, care even occasional singers was comforting in all respects. After our experiences in other places, we wouldn't consider going anywhere else. God bless MDA and all connected to you.

Hope they can help

Any cancer center that promotes the ignorance of a so called doctor that believes dog meat helps cure cancer is not worth the dirt on their front door carpet. Dr. Euishin Edmund Kim is supposedly highly respected here! IT is truly laughable but sad because it is such and ignorant backward lie. It has NOW been scientifically proven dog meat has less protein and more fat than chicken, so sad it had to even be proven. Such human arrogance, such human ignorance. Pitiful

I had very long waits when I was there for an appt. I also could never get the DR. or her nurse to return calls. The female radiologist didn't tell me that there was a shingles vaccine out now and that I should get one. So I got the shingles and they are very painful. The Dr's were all very nice but I did feel like I was an on going experiment for many years. Finally, after 5 years their last coctail worked. I had stage 3 Ovarian Cancer.

I had the luxury of a nurse Practitioner Helen Monroe that was very rude and did not listen to the patient. Came in for a colonoscopy screening and talked more about the risks of the procedure than understanding my symptoms!. I have gone to various international hospitals and never been treated so insignificantly. There is no human touch to her approach. Unfortunately as part of the Shell program I have to use this service.

Bandar Alfadhel

Basically the hospital that saved my life it's that simple

Logan Haefner

Been waiting FIVE MONTHS to get in to see my doctor. Currently out of my meds and my pharmacy just informed me they have been trying for over a week to get authorization from my doctor to refil my meds. This is not the first time I have had this issue either. I've made MULTIPLE ER trips and keep getting told to follow up with my doctor. I've left MULTIPLE messages with the nurse, scheduling, nutitionalist, and the patient advocate department. No one is returning my calls. For the amount of time and money I spend coming to this facility, you would think you would be treated a lot better. Very disappointed and will not be referring anyone to this disaster of a place.

PRAKHAR Singh

Number 2 cancer centre in the world . Amazing treatment and beat for academics.

It's my place of employment and we are houston strong

My Dad passed due to mis managed care. Great research and cancer treatment center but palliative care is horrible What's done is done, no need to send an MRN. I would just like to warn people about the effects of radiation possibly causing DIC.

Now I know why ppl complain about this hospital. I was admited and everything was ok until a nurse came and ask me if I had painso I say yes, she then came and gave me IV dilaudid, later the nurse from the morning shift came and ask me why I refused the PO dilaudid, so I was surprised and didnt say anything, well today I was called to go to check my eyes and they ask me if I can handle sitting for an hour or more so I say no so she say if I can go in a stretcher so I say yes, later she came and ask me ifnit was oknfor them to come to my room and check my eyes I say yes thats way better, a few hours later a dr. Walked in asking me why Inrefused treatment why I didnt want to go to the clinic. Something is ģoing on with the nurse, she lied twise and making me look bad. The receptionist to order food is so rude, I ask her for a pepperoni Pizza and she keeps asking what else so I told her a coke and she respond what else on the pizzaso I repeat its only a pepperoni Pizza so she laughs and ask do you want it with sauce , cheese, I really thought that it was obvious when you order a pepperoni Pizza that it comes with sauce anf cheese. Im seriously thinking it was a mistake coming here.

Amanda Hayed

This was a horrible experience for me. I had breast cancer recurrence in less than a year from my original diagnosis.. had already 6 surgeries and needed a 7th to redo mastectomy and take down skin. They were supposed to keep me overnight in hospital and kept me overnight in observation instead. They would only give me norco 5 by mouth for pain even though I had an incision from under my arm to almost my naval area... I am a nurse and not a drug seeker but I think for surgery like this IV pain Med is appropriate. Then the next day for the 4 hr ride home I requested nausea Med which they threw a fit about giving also... The real disappointment came when I chose to complete radiation at home and they refused to give me a referral. I asked them before the surgery if they could set up radiation at home and they said yes, I even have it in a message on my mdanderdon portal... I argued, cursed and cried to the radiation oncologist, her Np to please help me. They had a patient advocate call me who didn't want to hear any negativity about them and told me to call my insurance, get copies of my medical records and send them to a local radiation oncologist... if any of y'all are experienced with radiation, you know you need a referral. I had to call up my breast surgeon at home to get a referral which was extremely embarrassing since I left her to go to Md Anderson.. plus my surgical oncologist there told me not to worry about following up unless I had future issues... what? Thank god I have a great breast surgeon in Baton Rouge who welcomed me back with open arms... I follow up with her every 3 months...and would advise anyone to think twice about seeking treatment at MD Anderson.

I was shocked!!! I am still very surprised at what happened to me at MD Anderson. I have been to a lot of different facilities and I have never seen anything like it. I found the facility to be "huge." Good thing there are plenty of "friendly people" to help you to your destination. The hospital was very clean with a nice relaxing decor. However, during my stay, I witnessed some things that were far more important! After most surgeries the "recovery nurses" are "everything" to you. In my case I had excruciating back pain (unrelated) a catheter, blood drain, IV's, tubes everywhere. Needless to say I "felt horrible." I have had nurses in other facilities be "rude" and "judgmental" when asking for help with pain. I have had them burst into the room at 3 a.m., turn on all of the lights and be in my face trying to "draw blood" before I was even conscious. I have had nurses leave me waiting when I "buzz them" often times avoiding me all together. I have too many actual "horror stories" to tell at this time. All of these "actual experiences" really made my stay at MD Anderson so "unique" and so "special." All of my recovery nurses were "amazing." (Special Thanks to Hanna, Marcus, Donna, Bryant, and Desiree.) From about 10 p.m. to 9 a.m., every 2-3 hours my nurses would "sneak" into the room making an "obvious effort" to not wake my wife or I. "No lights" only a "small crack" in the door. They would come in "empty my bags" and slip out quietly. If they needed to wake me it was always with a "gentle touch" and a "whisper." Anytime I "buzzed" them they came "quickly" to see to "whatever I needed." They were constantly doing everything they could to "make me comfortable." All with a "very obvious sincerity" to their "kindness" and "concern" for my well being. I have never seen anything like it. I can assure you it makes a "huge" difference in your recovery both "physically and mentally." In fact that was definitely the "most surprising" and "most appreciated" thing that we experienced during our stay. The "sincere compassion" from everyone. From the front door to the back door, hard to believe, usually there are a "few bad apples." Not here. Every employee, every volunteer, and even random patients were the same. (Extremely kind and caring.) It truly felt like a "higher power" watched over the place. I would compare the feeling to the "Grand Canyon" for anyone who's been there they will tell you the difference between "hearing" about the canyon, even "seeing pictures" is no comparison to "standing on the rim." The difference is "huge" and the "feeling" is "overwhelming." I have always heard that besides MD Anderson having the "best doctors" in the world, they also have really "compassionate people." Now that I have experienced that compassion "first hand" and actually "felt" that "level of compassion" I would consider the comparison to the Grand Canyon to be the same. Wow! Overwhelming! It's easy to see why they have been #1 for so long. It's also very easy to see from the "outside looking in" that the "people" inside of all of those buildings are not just the "back bone" of MD Anderson they are also the "heart and soul." I feel "extremely blessed" to be a patient. Thank You and God Bless You All. (Google John W. Davis at MDA to see the review about my surgeon.) Len Sparkman, Galveston

The best in the world. Extremely professional and cutting edge technologies. MDA is ending cancer.

The Best hospital in the world.

MD Anderson in my opinion is THE place to be if you are fighting cancer. They review your case with fifty physicians who are top in their field of expertise to come up with the best plan to fight your cancer. They are thorough in their testing and deliver excellent patient care. My husband was told elsewhere that all they could do was radiation to buy him more time, but MD Anderson said we will do surgery which will remove 95% of the cancer and use chemo and radiation to fight the remaining cancer. They gave us hope. All of the doctors, nurses and staff are top notch!

THIS is the best place to be treated for glioblastoma brain cancer. Don't go with anyone else with less experience, less research, lesser equipment and resources. Trust me, time is of the essence when you're fighting grade 4 brain cancer. Caregivers, you will have much better support and access to education and resources too. MDA gave us time and hope other smaller hospitals could not. MDA has the largest Brain & Spine Institute in the US! And all the billing between departments is handled in house, under the MDA label. Which simplifies everything financially too. Make use of the Family Center, Patient Advocacy and free counseling from the Social Work department too.

When you come here long enough you will see the other side of it. The quality have going down by those bad apples. Some nurses and staffs have very bad attatue toward to you and you can feel that they don't care about you at all. And some are refuses to helping patients feel comfortable while on treatments.

Robert Lee

I took my wife there for 3 years. Every 6 weeks for 3 years. Put her on a plane from Indiana. She had glioblastoma. I knew it wasn't going to work but I wanted to take her to the best place. Every time Id get her down there, Id feel secure. id look up at night at the building way up high and read "The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.......and Id think, she's so small and this place is so big, they'll do something. I really knew, but that big bright sign and all the people with the lights still on in the all the windows everywhere...They were working on it.... She died after 4 years and 5 months of fighting it...and that was in January of 2014 and from time to time I still google MD Anderson and just look... Im glad I made her go down there. Id do it again.. They were great to her and were quick to see her and the bedside manner was EXCELLENT...from the Rotary House to Mays Clinic to the Brain and Spine Center on the 7th floor. Excellent. Every time I took my wife down there, I was thinking the same thing..maybe this time..this big place and this small nice lady.....

Outstanding and Real Polite and Caring Professional Medical Staff and Clean Hospital . GOD BLESS YOU ALL ! B

A friendly place. I like the chapel.

Great care, friendly staff and services are seamless.

We spent seven years enduring not only my husband’s cancer diagnosis, but also the horrific lack of continuity and communication that is extremely prevalent at MD Anderson. And to add insult to injury, no one is held accountable for this ignorance. They all just talk about each other, you know as good cop, bad cop. Be very careful when approaching this facility for your cancer needs. Record every word spoken, because it will change minute to minute, with ZERO recollection from the source that spoke it. It’s a scary place, so don’t go in there alone, have a patient advocate with you, and a caregiver that will be your extra set of eyes and ears. There are many many stories like mine, and I promise you, protect yourself. They are a very poorly managed business with an incredibly broken system. Pay attention, because they aren’t.

Farzana Hanif

I was in MD Anderson for 2014 and 2015. I had worst experience with Dr Patel in dermatologist dept. I was taken chemo and I had appoint with her she came with two assistants and asked me me show my back and Dr Patel from top to bottom scratch my Back with her nail it was very heartful. Please careful with Dr Patel in my view she is a very unprofessional and rough with the chemo patient.

Naomi Gonzales

Broke my ankle at your hospital and you won't even return my call. Ive lost my career, home and my health because y'all won't take responsibility for your actions. Your supposed to help ppl not hurt them. Charitable my butt!!!!!! Thiefs!!!!!

Lyndon Ji

calling to the facility to ask questions is extremely difficult. The operator answering the call is confused and rude and not willing to help forward the phone call to the person who I have been in communication with. It made me feel angry during the stressful time.

Christina Archer

I regret taking my father to the hospital and I truly regret telling my father to put his faith into this hospital. It was watching him be tortured and taken from us in 2 weeks and then to be told sorry would you like an autopsy to find out what killed him. I forever will blame them for my father's death.

Randall Spradley

MD Anderson's approach to my cancer was terrific. I am a cancer survivor thanks to the outstanding technical expertise of my MD Anderson medical team.

For those of you who are or have loved ones seeking treatment for cancer please read this. I gave 4 stars for only the doctors. For the rest I would had given 1 star. There are 2 faces of MD Anderson: the doctors and the support staff. The doctors are without doubt the top physicians in their field. I know this because they saved my mother's life. But there is another face or side to MD Anderson that will surprise you - the seemingly lackluster support staff. On the day of my mother's cancer surgery, the lab work on her blood specimen report was not received by her surgeon and forcing us and the doctor to contact those responsible to get the result. When the surgery was completed successfully, the staff moved her to her hospital room, they transferred her from the rolling bed she was transported in to the bed in her room. In doing so, they got the IV tubes/hoses tangled and caught which ripped it out of her arm - there was blood everywhere and she was in great pain. Thank God they got the bleed stopped. She had a ugly large bruise on her arms for nearly 2 months. But it did not end there: after she was allowed to come home I had to contact MD Anderson for questions regarding her medications and what we thought was a problem resulting from the surgery. I called the phone number for outpatient help we were given by the hospital staff and got a messaging service who paged a nurse or physician on call. After waiting an hour and no one called back, I called again and same result. I ended up having to call a relative who was a doctor for help. As for the call back from MD Anderson, someone did callback - over 12 hours (the next day) later. And this illustrates another problem in that there is no means to directly contact the doctor's office. Even when I call the main help number, they will connect me to the doctor's nurse phone but will not give the phone number for me to call directly. But every time my call is transferred to the nurse's office, no one picks up (not even once) and you go straight to voice mail which sometimes does not work - it hangs up after telling you to leave a message. Last, there is the ongoing problem with appointment scheduling in that EVERY scheduled appointment ended up having some changes due to mistakes or mix up. We have yet to have one single scheduled appointment that occurred without changes or me having to contact the physician's office to get things corrected before the date of appointment. Before cancer affected my family, I would never have imagined that the world class medical center at MD Anderson would have such a poor support staff. While grateful to the doctors who are truly the best, I am very disappointed with the rest at MD Anderson.

Horrible establishment. First impression, TERRIBLE. Let’s start with registration: They failed to mention that Valet parking was available so now we have to pay for parking. Computer wasn’t working in the registration office so we had to go to another location to finish registration. The place isn’t wheelchair friendly at all btw. Stem Cell Clinic: Waited FOREVER to be seen by the stem cell doctor. Vitals were never put into the system for the PA to observe. Waited FOREVER to be transferred to the ER. Get to the ER to wait even longer to be seen by anyone. Stem cell clinic never communicated anything to the ER regarding our arrival. No communication between staff at all. ER: Finally in a room, took almost an hour for someone to come check on my husband (that’s to include the nurse) and even longer for IV meds to get started for the level 9 pain he is currently having, still waiting on orders for scans. Some of the equipment in the room didn’t work. Nurse failed to check on my husband and took FOREVER to finish preparing for the IV. The wrong information was written on the white board in our room. This place just doesn’t seem to have their stuff together. The Dr. told my husband he would receive hydration fluids...an hour passes still nothing so we call the nurse and come to find out, the Dr didn’t order fluids because there’s a shortage on fluids? How does a Dr. write down exactly what my husband will receive but forget to put the order in? The nurse stated he would follow up with the doctor but disappeared again. Finally, the manager of the dept spoke to us, and it seems like things are coming together now. Other than that, no one has come to check on us and update us on anything. The doctor finally came back and was like “oh I forgot about the fluids”...so unprofessional. Then she expected us to remember what time my husband received his pain meds via IV, when that’s the nurses job to chart and brief the doctor on. This place is just completely out of order and unprofessional. I am very disappointed in this establishment. I work in an ER and this is the worst ER I have ever been to. The Dr. only saw my husband twice and the second time she had her personal belongings with her, complaining that she was ready to go home bc she was there for 15 hours. She even had the nerve to answer a personal phone call in front of us. Completely unprofessional. For something so urgent such as this, I am very surprised at the lack of care we received here. We flew all the way from Nashville to have a consultation at what I thought was supposed to be the best cancer treatment center in the country, but I was definitely wrong. After this awful ER visit, we are leaving this place and NEVER returning. Better off going to Vanderbilt. Update: on Wed, Jan 10, discharging my husband took forever, getting prescriptions took hours, when we were finally discharge, there were ZERO wheelchairs accessible on the P level. When the nurse said he would grab one for us or call hospital transportation, he had us waiting for another 30 minutes until I decided to go down to the 1st floor to grab a wheel chair myself. I came back with the wheel chair and the nurse was just sitting on his computer (probably charting which I understand) but patient care involves going above and beyond patient’s expectations and NO ONE at MD Anderson did that for us. Update: Jan 12th, we are already admitted at Vanderbilt in Nashville, preparing for treatment, after only being here an hour. Vanderbilt is already working 10x faster than MD Anderson did. I wouldn’t recommend MD Anderson if it was the last medical center on Earth. It didn’t take hours to see a doctor and it didn’t take hours for pharmacy to personally speak with us regarding treatment. This facility understands urgency.

Do not go to this hospital. My mother was actually told buy her doctor not to come back Betsie asked too many questions. It’s her life and the doctors her do not care about there patients.

Pancho Chacon

My nephew was on critical condition before we get referred to this amazing hospital, now he's doing his treatment but doing better much better, and how different my nephew Alan looks, we still believe in miracles and God and this profesional doctors and amazing staff at this place make you feel that you are in the best place you can be,, THANK YUO for everything since day one

Janey Browning

I love this place. Great service.

Andrew Fosdick

Caring people; warm and inviting atmosphere.

Jeffrey Lai

The doctor treated my mother like a case study instead of a patient and refused to give any real advice or treatment options unless we committed 100% to going the full round of treatment in Houston (when we came from Dallas). She ended up dying and they STILL ask us for donations. The nerve! Worst facility I've ever been to. Complete waste of time and money. They don't care about your life, they only want your money and the ability to research in you so they can increase their fame. Do not support this awful institution.

Princessmu_95 Nicholas

Everyone is nice, loving, caring and just great people. I've been coming since 2011 and have made so many friends. This is the number 1 hostpital in the world. Great doctors, great nurses, great staff!!! #ilovemdanderson #besthospitaleva

MoJay MickNintch

Great Thyroid Cancer Care Dept and other preventative tests. Staff is amazing. It's like a puzzle, but once you go several times, you understand the lay of the land. Great place! I thank them for keeping me in remission.

MD ANDERSON Lung Cancer. If you are reading this then you are looking for answers just like we were 3 months ago. Our experience was with 2 different hospitals. One Hospital was not up to speed because they were not a cancer research hospital. If you have any form of cancer you want to go to a hospital that specializes in CANCER. We had all previous test results sent to Md Anderson of which several had to be redone. In the process we found out that the first Hospital/Doctor neglected to do a Lymph Node Biopsy. Luckily we got a 2nd opinion with MD Anderson. Thank the A team at Md Anderson! Our first experience with Md Anderson was somewhat overwhelming. Md Anderson has a good online system where you can look at your test results and find out when your appointments are. Computer skills are a must for MD Anderson schedules and notifications. You will be late for some appointments because other appointments will be running behind in the MAIN Hospitals but they will get you in so just follow your schedule. We only met "ONE" person out of a hundred who was in my opinion uncaring. The other folks there ARE outstanding but the waiting rooms in the main hospitals kind of make you feel like you are in a cattle car. Parking is overly expensive for the main buildings. Every Doctor and every P.A. we met were simply AWESOME. Our Test results were reviewed by a Thoracic Surgeon, a Chemo doctor, and a Radiation doctor, OUR TEAM of doctors. Surgery was ruled out because the one test they neglected to do at the first hospital on the Lymph node. After all the test results were reviewed by OUR panel of Doctors “ALL EXPERTS in cancer treatment and research” I have no problem saying the team we had at Md-Anderson are at the cutting edge of technology in Cancer Research. For us they decided upon a two-step approach for stage 3 lung cancer basically Radiation and Chemotherapy. NOW THIS IS IMPORTANT SO READ THIS.......MD Anderson is one of the FEW hospitals that has PROTON radiation treatment. MOST hospitals DO NOT HAVE this state of the art technology. It is called Proton Therapy. This form of Radiation is on the cutting edge of Cancer treatment and Md Anderson has been doing this since 2007! MDA was one of the first to use this kind of treatment. There are other facilities with Proton Therapy that are being built around the country. Proton Therapy works on Prostrate, Lung, brain and any kind of solid tumor related cancers. YOU WANT PROTON THERAPY if possible. I have heard that some insurance companies do not want to pay for this treatment so you need to have good insurance. Now to the Proton Therapy center at MD Anderson. WHAT AN Awesome group of professions, an extremely friendly relaxing environment. This part of MD Anderson reminds me of a hotel, coffee , free parking, the folks at the desk REALLY have your back, a nice waterfall and comfortable waiting area. Treatment takes about 40 minutes per session daily (M-F) for 6-8 weeks. (Better than surgery in my opinion) I honestly have never seen such a relaxed, comfortable, hospital environment w Free Parking. Md Anderson Proton Therapy is the GOLD STANDARD. Appointments are always on time the staff is out-going, caring and helpful. This is the best place to go. You will still need trips to the MAIN hospital but once you get used to where you are going it becomes routine. For us it took one phone call to setup the initial evaluation and then Md Anderson took over and scheduled tests and treatment. I will update this once we know how everything turned out… I hope this helps someone with their decisions.

My wife recently got diagnosed with ALL as soon as our other Doctor referred us we where almost in right away at MD Anderson. We love everybody there they have all been very uplifting and caring they have answered every question we have had the food was excellent iv never been to a hospital and have the food taste that good so hats off to them. I really only have one complaint as im sure all of you do THE PARKING iv never seen somewhere charge the way they do you would think a hospital that is trying to help cancer patients or any patients at that would charge as much as this place we all know the parking is owned by Texas medical center and not MD Anderson but either way i look at both of them for fault how can you charge someone $13 a day for garage parking when some of these families have traveled across states and countries to be there they use every dollar they have to get there wife, brother, sister, mom, or dad the best treatment by the best doctors in the world and yet they have to pay this much to park there vehicle that there probably not going to move for days i understand the medical center needing money to keep up with maintenance on the garage but that is a little overboard on the price!!!!!!!!! Not only is it bad enough that the patients have to pay that much the doctors nurses and all staff for the MD Anderson hospital have to pay now please tell me why they would charge the people needing help and the people that have studied half there life to be a doctor to treat this horrible disease we call cancer? Let me tell you why (MONEY) thats what it all boils down to what happen to the UNITED STATES that were for the people by the people instead its who can fill there bank account the fastest we are in one of the worst debts the United States has been in since this country was founded the rich get richer and the poor get poorer off of stuff like this the medical benefits for the people of this country sucks so ask yourself what happened to helping the people of this great nation? Instead we focus our worries on other countries problems when really we need to fix our own. I could go on and on about the American People getting screwed while we worry about other people in other countries but i dont have time because im trying to take care of my wife and curing the cancer she has. So this is to you Texas Medical Center why would you charge so much for parking to the great people of the United States? When really you could charge less and still manage to take care of the parking lot just think $100.00 dollars a week for every car just for the patients not including all the staff that has to park the hospital litterally sees thousands of patients a week now add that up Mr.Texas Medical Center and tell me you aren't filling your pockets with way more money than you need to. I want to tell everybody to pray and there is hope for your brother, sister, mom or dad or any other family member and that they will get the best help as long as you have faith in god. THANK YOU MD ANDERSON FOR THE GREAT CARE YOU ARE GIVING MY WIFE THERE NEEDS TO BE MORE PEOPLE AND PLACES LIKE THIS IN THE WORLD. To my wife hang in there you are a tough young women that i know will overcome this for yourself and for our three beautiful kids ill never let go of your hand i love you.

Ken SpringTX

This place is awesome! Cured my wife of breast cancer... Awesome group and teams of professionals... A blessing.

Viola Allen

We are so fortunate to have a world class cancer treatment center here in Houston. I was diagnosed with late stage breast cancer in 2012. MD Anderson and it's wonderful team of professionals saved my life. I am so grateful for all the care and love they extended to me and my family during those dark days. Dr. Su was absolutely wonderful. She told me, "No worries mate, you would be back on the saddle in no time". She kept her promise and I am cancer free for almost 3 years. Thank you MD Anderson and Dr. Su for making my cancer HISTORY :)

William Marquardt

Your commercial is incredibly ANNOYING. !!! As soon as it starts I disconnect the sound. The commercial is repetitive, boring, and has no creativity. This commercial is OK to see a couple times. After that it becomes ANTAGONIZING. I suggest getting a PR firm that can do a better job for you.

Leila Dorsey

MISDIAGNOSED mammogram on my annual physical. Had to retake and the second mammogram technician said that the first result came out wrong because they didn't pressed the breast in the right way. What's matter having cutting edge technology if staffs are not skilled? The stress and fear for the WRONG diagnostic is unforgettable. Secondly insurance only covers once a year mammogram. The result is a $500.00 bill that I have to pay for their mistake. Very unfair!!!! Phone contact is a nightmare! I hope never ever be at this place again.

Dean Wassmann

Doctors and Nurses the BEST in the WORLD, Customer Service and Administrators worse I've seen or associated with... even so far as had my medical bills sent to a family member on the other side of the country and I've still have no answers from Admin or Patient Advocates, thought there were HIPPA laws that protecred us, not here....Administration in shambles, a shame cause Dr's and Nurses are World class....

Tracy Bird

I'm just! Blessed to have been fortunate enough to be treated by the best Dr., and friend MD Anderson has to offer. And all the staff here is just wonderful. Thanks to all the knowledge that was focused on my care. Thank you all!

Patrick Cooney

The Doctors meet you personally every time and work you into the system, even if you're over booked. The Nursing staff is fantastic, as well! I hope you never get cancer, but they are the #1 choice if you do.

SuperRockyMountain SRM

They have kept me alive for 5 years now. Head and Neck, and Lung cancer. Every day is a bonus now....futer updates still to come. The support staff, could do better. Bed side manners go a long ways. Even Dr's can lack such a important part of treatment. You have rights and there advocate team are wonderful. They can answer all your needs. Some times it felt like your a number, and they are often are overbooked. The commute is hard enough and there regional physilities could serve the community better. The lack of services at these location would help every one in cost and cummute. These regional physillities are mostly for radiation and chemo treatments. MD Anderson is a world class cancer research hospital, that's why there so busy. Cancer sucks no matter where you are. Be mindful that I'm able to make this review, and life is precious. Thank you for your help MD Anderson team. And my family and friends, you know who you are.

Robert Rutter

This place deserves a minus five. Worst customer care we have ever experienced. We traveled a long way to come for the "best cancer care" in America. The patients here are treated like cattle. And then they changed the appointments for care out another week Without even consulting us. Absolutely horrific treatment. If you come here you may be one of the lucky ones. God help you if you are not.

William Tinsley

Idon't tell you the cost I am now impotent and suicidal thanks to them

Paije Wilson

Mrs. Cathy did my blood work. She was wonderful. She was very sweet and made sure I was calm and comfortable.

Zack Zwicky

I've been here at least 10 times in the last few months, my mother-in-law has cancer. She's probably been her 100 times in the past year. When I drive her its easy to get around because she knows where to go, when we walk in she directs us and knows the best routes to take. If I'm coming here to meet her its a bit more difficult. But everyone who works here is very nice and helpful, we are amazed at the consistently good customer service!

Corey Barton

I'm still kickin'.

Shannon Stutts

Good luck getting any information from them to assist your patients. Peaches in medical records is probably the rudest, most uncaring person that I have spoken to in my 20 year career!

Auburnhill jensjen

My local cancer doctor said I had one year to live, that was in 2009. Said I may not live thru surgery. I'm still here. Went to MD Anderson and within half a day, they diagnosed my tumor and said to live a happy, healthy long life. No cutting on this ol boy. Great staff, great doctor and the service was the quickest I could have ever hoped for. Nothing but great things to say about this hospital and staff. Thank you to all whom cared for me, from the Blessed family from South Carolina.

Florence Rutherford

The best

Susan Flenniken

MD Anderson is second to none in their research and care of their patients with cancer; wouldn’t trust my husbands care with anyone else!

M Flo

Dr. Aaron Shafer did not disclose that I was a candidate for partial (supracervical) hysterectomy prior to my total hysterectomy. His response was "it wasn't 'that much more' surgery." The EXTRA surgery severed important nerves and ligaments. The end result is lifelong dysfunction and less pelvic organ support. Not to mention the emotional pain. Disclosing all options is a BASIC tenet of surgery, yet it was withheld from me. The doctor just did things the way he wanted. When I complained to patient advocacy, they said I just needed to talk to the doctor again. Their job is to be intermediary, yet they don't do it. I have never felt so betrayed. And I will have to live with the repercussions for life. Also, for every appointment, they ask for your medical record #, not your name. This should have been a red flag. Go somewhere you are treated as a person.

Daniel Russ

#1 for a reason. They saved my life. Outstanding in every way.

Caroline Phillips

Incredibly helpful, kind, knowledgeable providers. Positive approach allays patient discomfort. Unbelievable care.

Laurel James

I am truly disappointed! What I have seen could be considered patient abuse! People suffering from pancreatic cancer, like my brother, drives hundreds of miles to go the "The Best" cancer center in America, BULL! His scheduler has made so many mistakes that he has cause undo hardship to my family. NO ONE takes any ownership of the mistakes. I believe that when someone has cancer this is enough of a hardship and being abused by the system is wrong on so many levels. When he went to have CT scan they accessed his port, but did not clean the port as directed, 15 seconds is all it takes to clean it. The nurse just swiped and continued to access port despite being asked to clean it better. If he gets an infection from that you can be sure heads will roll! His quality of life just dropped a notch. Thanks for nothing MD Anderson.

Michael Cisneros

For 2 years my fiance has been receiving treatment at MD Anderson. I have heard more negative than positive. It is a cattle drive and as a patient you are just a # providing a pay check. They have horrible bed side manner and do NOT care about people. If you do not have insurance, they will REFUSE treatment. HORRIBLE! This is absurd and the TRUTH will eventually reach the masses and institutions like this will die. If you are dealing with cancer and illness, check out the China Study and watch Forks over Knives. Take control of your life, make better nutritional choices, and start exercising. God Bless and I pray this review helps you.

Travis Hall

Great pepole, great doctors and nurses. I am now cancer free....

Trena Searle

If this is "The Best" I certainly hate to see the worst. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Took two months and $20,000 worth of tests to finally get a diagnosis. Now trying to schedule treatments and no will return our calls. Very unprofessional! Avoid this place if possible.

Vera O'Brien

Very efficient, great doctor, support staff and volunteers. Gave my daughter the best care.

amer jarrah

I'm in love with this place. It's terrible that I've had to have been here for obvious reasons, but if not for the incredibly capable doctors here my mom is still here to tell me she loves me. And I her.

Glen Sheppard

My father used Dr. Shah from Urology. His bladder was removed robotically. the procedure itself went well. I was kept well informed during operation. after care was weak. Many problems in hospital staff was not able to monitor properly. NO coordination between departments ( heart - urology) Once released follow-up care non-existent. My father passed away 8 months later from bladder cancer they claimed they removed and he was good for at least 5 more years.

Erika T

My mother just began her cancer treatment at MD Anderson and what a total nightmare. David Ramirez should simply not be treating patients. He's extremely unprofessional and does NOT know what the definition of communication is. Also, the individuals that are employed as his 'staff' shame on you for not knowing the difference between right and wrong. Talk about a circus that needs to get it's monkey's in line.

Bill Holder

I see a recent reviewer that says MD Anderson no longer takes United Health Care. I just checked my plan, and MD Anderson in Houston is still in my United health care plan. I am a current CLL Leukemia patient, and MD Anderson has saved my life. I was referred to MD Anderson by another nationally recognized cancer center. MD Anderson seems to do a majority of Cancer trials, and are years ahead of others. Probably the biggest mistake is people wait until stage 4 before going to MD Anderson which is rated #1 in the nation. I have yet to run across anyone at MD Anderson is anything less than professional, and care about every patient.

Pamela Dougherty

Don't let their shiny website full of "Early Detection is Key" and world class in research/detection etc. fool you. As a mother of 3 under 5 and only 43 years old, I was told that regardless of my Anti-HU (ANNA1) antibodies, I don't qualify for their SCLC "screening" (PS: 80-90% of people with positive Anti-HU antibodies have SCLC) because I'm not "old enough". I also don't qualify for screening at their cancer center because I don't have confirmed SCLC. REALLY? So, you tout your ability to screen and how important it is, my out of pocket is met for the year (AKA: They would get paid without issue) and they refused me because I'm "too young" and "not yet sick enough". When dealing with a cancer where early detection means the difference between 31% chance of 5 years and a 2% chance of 5 years, you would think that they would gladly take my money to help screen me. Especially when I show positive for an antibody that most people produce when they have SCLC. Nope, not a care in the world. The nurse I spoke with didn't even know what that WAS and wouldn't make me an appointment unless I had a confirmed tumor. Guess where I WON'T be going when my cancer is detected? Now I know why FOR PROFIT centers like CTCA exist. Good thing I have great insurance!

Bruce Fox

MD Anderson saved my wife's life in a trial program. It took 9 months. The staff and facility is the best in the world. Need I say more?

Yadira Lobo-Diaz

Everyone there is trying their best and shows that they care.

Sherry Krawiec

Wonderful hospital, caring hospital staff. Four year lung cancer family survivor would not be here but for MD Anderson and God.

Joe Bih

MD Anderson is a well advanced cancer research facility but they might not be aware of more going on other research institutes. Do you want to know alternative methods that would surprise you and save you thousands of dollars? There are two American cancer centers that are actively researching on mycology and applications - City of Hope and Memorial Sloan Kettering. But there are some quite advanced researches done already and their products already continue to save even Stage IV cancer patients - most rejected by hospitals and expert doctors. You wanted to hear more? My brother suffered from throat cancer without eating and drinking for 3 days, and he is well now..

Robin R

January 2016 we were told that we had a good chance for a cure. On April 14, 2016 my husband of 38 years died. I tried for 3 weeks to get ANYBODY to LISTEN to me that something wasn't right...by the time I succeeded. ..he'd had multiple strokes. He had to stop treatment because of his altered mental status. I'm so disappointed in the care...or rather the lack of care by the hospital.

Evonne Miller

Great everything, right down to the building service staff.

Melanie Vincent

I am so thankful for this place! Here I can see one of the leading doctors in the world for Myeloproliferative Neoplasm disorders. Dr Verstovsek is awesome! It was here that I got the correct diagnosis and very likely saved my life. I've always received prompt and respectful treatment here. This is a huge facility and I will always be grateful for the work and research done here.

Shirley Tedrick

My Mother was treated with so much care and the entire staff was a blessing! Dr. Shirley Su and Dr. Kathrine Gold was amazing in what they do!! God has blessed me with doctors like you that helped my Mother overcome her stage 4 oralpherageal squamous cell carcanomia . It has almost been a year now she has completed her chemo and radiation, and she is doing so much better! God Bless You ALL who helped my Mother!!! By far the best place to go and get treatment, please see the financial department and see how they can help you receive the best treatment in the world I swear it is worth it!! God Bless the entire staff at M D Anderson in Houston Tx. you saved my Mother!!

I’m appalled at some of the reviews that’s being wrote on here, usually people that write reviews are the ones that’s upset, I had to stop reading them, one place said it’s Ghetto, its actually more like a luxury hospital, you would have to see it yourself. . M.D. Anderson is Amazing, the #1 doctors from all over the world are here. I’m sorry that you’re loved one may not of made it but remember it’s cancer and the best chance they had is at MD Anderson. I’m 37 and I’m flying here from the other side of the country once a month for the last 7 months (all expenses paid because I’m in a clinical trial, paid by the drug maker). I was diagnosed with a rare cancer, like one out of 200 or so be diagnosed, it’s a tumor in my salivary gland on my jaw. I was told by other hospitals that I have no option but cut it out and the side of my face be paralyzed, I couldn’t imagine and felt I rather be dead. I’m in a clinical trial taking a pill twice a day and it’s basically gone, on a PET scan it’s not there and barely visible on a MRI, it’s possible it’ll be totally gone soon, if not they can do surgery without harming the nerves. The surgeon here is no shit the #1 head and neck surgeon in the world and he says there’s no need for surgery. Im forever grateful. If you’re told you have no chance by your doctor then I recommend you get a second opinion here. They can’t save everyone but it’s your best chance.

Great doctors nurses and staff. God bless these people and caretakers. Praying for the ones that have need of these services and a cure will be released soon for the suffering.

I have been a patient here since 2003. This is the best hospital in the world for cancer treatment. I was diagnosed when I was 25yrs old in San Antonio Texas and my hospitals did all they could for me. MD ANDERSON welcomed me with open arms

I just love looking at this waterfall that I had to post this up. So relaxing and awe inspiring.

Caring. Passion. This hospital offers excellent care to patients and family members. If you have cancer or even suspect it, this is the place you need to go.

Artishia Hozdish

Heard many great things. O felt there enthusiasm over the phone Gave me hope, the small things are what gets them going. Can't wait for my husband's consultation. This is God's doing!

Cassie Griffin

my mom just started going here and we have been so impressed by the entire staff (what we've seen so far). it has been a much better experience than we ever thought possible, it makes watching her go thru this much easier.

Gregory G Dempsey

Excellent treatment throughout the center.

I've been a long term patient for many years...18 years, in fact. I have seen it expand and grow... now it covers at least 3 city blocks and is still GROWING! I'm still here from joining their clinical trials... at least 5-7 of them thru the years... well that AND MY LORD HAS CHOSEN TO KEEP ME HERE....but I totally respect and believe in The University of Texas MDAnderson Cancer Center!!!! I do believe that everyone who works here from the receptionists, nurses, phlebotomist, scan and testing technicians, and Dr's...EVERYONE who works here must be an "ANGEL"... it MUST be a requirement.... so sweet, caring and loving....THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!

Well so far the doctors at MD Anderson are friendly and good at their job however, my complain goes towards some of the staff and the nurses. I came across some rude nurses and when you are going through a hard time you really don’t want some one to add more to that and just hope everyone is nice to and I find it really hard with MD Anderson nurses.

Gregory Montelaro

I can not imagine any other place in the world that gives you the kind of hope for life that you receive at MD Anderson from the second you walk through the door. You know immediately why they are the number one cancer center in the world.

stephanie Thompson

Unless your are poor or incredibly rich do not chose md Anderson. I would give zero stars for healthcare

Ashley Brooks

Cancer sucks. This world class hospital and research center does not.

Kimberly Derouselle

I work here!! We save people's lives!!

Dr Guidley is a wonderful and caring doctor in the head and neck area.

My friend was diagnosed with DCIS and she wanted to get the best care available in the country, so she headed to MD Anderson and got her surgery. They collected the biopsy sample from previous place that primarily diagnosed her with DCIS instead of collecting new sample. After the surgery the doctors didn't find any cancer cell in the muscle/fat removed. DCIS was removed in biopsy at the first place. She then received re-constructive surgery from GREGORY REECE. One of the breasts healed OK however the other (One with DCIS(!)) isn't healing after so many months. So they keep making her travel back and forth from FL to TX instead of helping her out with flexible dates and now suggesting skin grafting because they messed up. And the GREGORY REECE, the reconstructive surgeon is so busy during holidays that he wouldn't even see her in another month. So many things went wrong and the doctors cant even be prosecuted (because they are wise enough to leave no footprints of a mistake and always have an explanation ready). She now is looking for a reconstructive surgeon in FL. I just feel so bad for her and hope this suffering comes to an end and she gets back to normal life soon.

Hubby had stage 4 tongue cancer n is cancer free for 4 yr. Wonderful people who work there

I went to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Tx and was denied medical treatment. I went to patient advocate and they were no help, ended up talking to several doctors none of which seemed to care. I tried to get a resolution of medical treatment because of cancer and was put off by the patient advocate office and had nowhere else to go for any assistance and I just want it known that M. D,. Anderson is not all that it's put up to be. After many efforts of trying to get for cancer I was denied any treatment and was told to leave and go somewhere else. For M. D. Anderson to be considered one of the best cancer clinics in the U.S., I found it to be unconscionable to be turned away and refused treatment of any kind.

The best hospital I have ever been treated from admitting, diagnosis, through surgery and release. I will always remember the friendly faces of everyone I met. EVERYONE!

I always was very happy and impressed by the whole organization. I keep getting disappointed time and time again since they have changed the whole website. Every thing is so chaotic and disorganized. I am thinking about switching to another hospital. As a cancer survivor peace of mind is the first thing I need what I don't get from MD Anderson nowadays.

Run by State of Texas....pretty much says it all. Rated highly due to research NOT patient care. Treatment is just a paint by number approach - throw one medicine after another till something sticks. If nothing sticks you go to the poorly run research treatments - where they will just throw one after another research project at you. Jaded doctors who stay to put up sad research projects of medicine combos that have been around for 30-40 years. Not sure how they get funding. As soon as you check in, they annoy you with sad extra research treatments that are NOT needed, but will ONLY do if your covered by insurance. Nothing is free here. They make you believe you are doing them a favor by participating but they will only do if they can charge you. Sad. Stay home folks, do yourself a favor and go to a local hospital. Memorial has just as good cancer program as any other hospital anywhere. Must not like my reviews, keeps getting deleted.

I rushed in to Houston today from out of state under the pretense that I was having surgery soon. Got there half an hour early from my appointment with all my questionnaires filled out and ready then waited, waited waited. After an hour we check at the desk and the lady who had told us we were checked in, had not actually checked us in. So I get shuffled back to an office and wait for the surgeon to come talk to me. Once all 3 doctors are in there they ask me what brought me there and if I was having any immediate pains. I tell them my 3 week story of getting bounced around and all my tests so far, blah blah, typical stuff. Then I get told that surgery would be a month out at the earliest and that I could get back home for the time being. I call up my primary to let her know since she has half my paperwork and she says great then you can go back to work. And I'm like what?? No, I'm still dying right now. Then she says I need a doctors note. By this time I was back at the hotel and napping since sleep comes quick these days. So my husband takes my phone to message the hospital through the app (which is very helpful) asking my surgeons staff people to call him and they respond with a thanks for contacting us, your surgeon will contact you in a month to go over your concerns. Awesome, so we have no way to get the hospital to help us, nobody is filling out my FMLA paperwork so I may lose my job for no days, and I'm still dying. I wake up from my 5 hour afternoon "nap" that is more reminiscent of a coma and realize that I'm screwed all because we didn't go over my day to day issues since we thought I was just going to be prepped for surgery. I don't know if my symptoms are related or not to my tumor, I have a very rare tumor. But I was only asked about the immediate symptoms that lead to the appointments, not what was going on with ME. I'm VERY ready for surgery. But just because I don't have any sharp pains doesn't mean that I don't have concerning symptoms. When I wake from sleeping and I feel like I was laying on my brain cutting off the blood circulation and I have to stumble around to wake it back up, no I don't feel the pins and needles, but it's still pretty dang concering. It's not what brought me to the hospital and it's not "pain" but maybe it's related and we didn't even get to go over it. Hope I make it to surgery because nobody but me seems to care. It seemed they just wanted to push people through quickly, I was already under the impression that my surgery would be this week, even tomorrow possibly, but then they said it'd be a month from now then pushed me out the door.

Extremely disheartened by my experience. The scheduler informed me to plan to spend 3-5 business days there and I made the Neccessary travel arrangements. However, on the day of my appointment I waited 8 hours to see a doctor who only spoke with me for 15 minutes and no further follow-up was discussed. A waste of time and did not need the 3-5 days as discussed.

An MD Anderson Intern, under the instructions of Dr. Sudderth (department head in 1982) punctured my father's left lung, deflating it. After 3 times on a crash cart brought him back to life, the lung failed to re-inflate and began filling with fluid and running into the one remaining lung, caused my fathers death. They rushed the autopsy so they could write something else caused his death. Let's see, walk into MD Anderson, dead in one week and a deflated lung. Sounds like negligent manslaughter to me.

They're really great and my friends and I are doing a project on it right now. Thanks.

Great for advanced treatment. AWFUL for compassion. MDA turned us over to collections for $65 after we unknowingly lost our insurance. We received a $2,500 bill that they would NOT negotiate a dime off of and then 18 months later tried to charge us $65 more. (If we had still had insurance, they would have received about .65 cents on the dollar). After refusing to pay a bill we could not substantiate, they turned us over to collections which greatly impacted our credit score. They want you to believe they are in it for YOU, however, despite being a non-profit, you can bet they know there is HUGE money to be made off your crisis....all that said. We did have amazing doctors, who I am sure if they knew the internal struggles we have had with MDA would be mortified! I can say without reservation Dr. Lewis (MDA Sugar Land), Dr. Cohen (main campus - skin cancers) and Dr. Myers (head and neck) are among the greatest doctors. They are worthy of a much better facility to practice out of.

Great. Place

Dr. Schaverien is always professional. He and his staff, nurses and PAs, are quick to respond to questions/issues. They always have your best interest at heart and he has the expertise and knowledge to achieve the most desired results. Blessed to be a patient of Dr. Schaverien.

I have been taking my dad for treatment and all the times we stay there the staff have been so kind and helpful.

Recently, had to help a international patient ( cash pay) to get into MD Anderson, the staffs in international patient service center were so bad that I can't believe it is MD Anderson's voice ( 713 745 0450, try out that number, pretend to be a international pt just to see how bad it is!), the front desk operator has a very bad attitude issues, they never respond to pt's emails or if you leave a message, they never call back, the worst thing is, the pt's records and data emailed to them will get "lost or never received", unbelievable service! If a cancer pt try to contact them directly and will suffer a severe anxiety and in fact make him/her feel worthless! I wish I can rate them 0!

Athena Cherise

Everyone at MD Anderson, from the doctors to the valet workers, are amazingly pleasant. Appointments go according to schedule mostly; I never had to wait much past my scheduled appointment time. They understand that no one there is having their best day, and make things as easy as possible. My doctors were always quick to get back to me when I had questions or problems. Hands down the best medical facility I have ever had occasion to visit. If only my regular doctor's office ran so smoothly!

Kiley Sutherland

Can never get ahold of anyone. I have been contacting them for the past month to get information for a patient of ours and still have nothing. It’s at least a 15 minute hold every time I call.

Best Cancer Center of Excellence! Terrible Customer Support & Pain Management Everyone there is working hard to cure us- We are survivors! Dr. Pagliaro and his team are amazing, talented, and blessed! I just wish the Supportive Care Department was better at their job. I've been seeing them for over 2 months and they haven't even ordered a simple blood test to see where this pain might be coming from.
