I was refered to Dr. Haun after I went to my Doctor about an eye twitch that lasted over 3 weeks. I was having pressure around my eyes and sensitivity to light. This was accompanied by headaches, and at times got to the point of nausea. It was miserable, and I even missed a couple days of work because of it.
When I checked in they took my medical insurance card, not my vision insurance. I had not been informed on what to bring, so was unprepared for that. Luckily, I had a picture of my medical insurance card.
When I was called back to the exam room I asked when I had last had my vision checked. I informed her it had been since I was a child. I didn't even remember the last time. She proceeded to put drops in my eyes, only saying "this will burn". She then whisked me away to a waiting room and left me alone. Imagine my surprise when I began having trouble focusing on anything and the harsh flourescent lighting seemed as bright as the sun. I had a couple quiet moments of minor panic before I realized what must be going on. I kept hearing the associate at the desk ask if the patients leaving needed dark glasses since they had been "dialated". They did NOT tell me they were dialting my eyes nor what to expect.
After all this, Dr. Haun spent maybe 5 minutes with me. I mentioned I had never had my eyes dialated before and he just laughed. He said eye twitches happen, didn't mention anything about the pressure and headaches, said my vision was fine, and then left without any tips on how to relieve the discomfort. At this point I had been there an hour and was just ready to go. They pointed me to the desk, rather than escort me as they had done with other patients, and didn't offer me dark glasses. I had to ask for them.
I never leave reviews. I work in customer service, and know how taxing it can be. I always give the benefit of the doubt. This, however, was such a ridiculous experience I had to share it. The way my appointment was conducted is unacceptable. Everyone I told about it was shocked.
