I do not choose to see an Ophthalmologist, I have to see one due to a congenital birth defect in my right eye. I moved to Knoxville 2 years ago & I have seen Dr Cunningham 3 times in those 2 years; I have now fired him on the 3rd visit. He does not familiarize himself with a patient before he sees them, so every single visit is spent talking about my right eye as if it were my very first visit there. He has ZERO people skills and rarely even makes eye contact while speaking to me. This practice over schedules patients - so much so that he leaves the exam room before I have asked all my questions, to get to another patient. Then the nurse has to go get him and bring him back in, which he is clearly unhappy about. He does not take any time at all to talk to a patient, or explain in layman's terms just what he is saying. I left my visit yesterday confused and VERY unhappy and angry. Unless you are lucky enough to get the 1st appointment of the day, or 1st after lunch, you can expect to wait for at least an hour AFTER your scheduled appointment time before they call you into the back. This has happened all 3 times I have been there. I spent 2 hours and 45 minutes at this office for a 6 month checkup yesterday. That is totally unacceptable.
