Dr. Goss was amazing. He took time to explain things and his reasoning behind his recommendations. He listened to my concerns and answered my questions. The appointment never felt rushed. Very pleased.

Dr. Parr and his staff have done a tremendous job for me. After a very bad car accident, I was referred to AO. I couldn't be happier with their care, focus or understanding. Scarlett, my PT, has also been great. She's easy to work with, highly knowledgeable and a great coach. The rest of the team are also very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Appalachian Orthopedic if you find yourself in need. They are great people.

Don’t be concerned about your bones healing correctly because they won’t care. If you have a problem with your bones not healing correctly or crooked then you will just have to live with it the rest of your life. Which is unacceptable to me. I went there to Appalachian Orthopedics several times very concerned about how my arm and wrist is gonna heal because I have to deal with the way it heals for the rest of my life. I wanted them to X-Ray my shattered wrist/arm earlier than 6 weeks because by then it’s too late if somethings not right. (I had surgery on my wrist/arm which consisted of putting metal rods and a plate in) Its the worse pain I’ve ever had in my life. I’m 39 years old and I never broke any bones til now. I thought I’d never break a bone ever! My cast was too tight and hitting on my nerves causing pain and I can’t tell if the nerves are hitting the metal or vise versa. It feels like I have nerve damage. Instead of giving me an X Ray to look at it, they just sent me home with the pain meds (which I do need due to my arm and wrist pain but I don’t care for having to need them for the pain) though but it’s the only way I can rest at night. I didn’t sleep for a month! Then they turn around and treat you like you have an addiction. I wasn’t taking them before my arm and wrist was broke. I should have received an X Ray to see how it is healing. They could have easily did an X Ray a week or so early to check it. Their are too many people on their schedule and just too busy to care. Benjamin Knox was hardly ever there and the one time he was there he was rude like the rest of the staff. Benjamin Knox is old and errogant. He didn’t want to hear what is going on. He just talked very rudely and loudly interrupting me while I was trying to explain what was going on. He didn’t want to admit there could be a problem which would mean the surgery he performed wasn’t great. I think he doesn't want to admit to being old enough to make a mistake. Definitely not a person I would choose to perform surgery but I had no choice. I needed surgery the very next morning and the people at the emergency room set it up. Appalachian Orthopedics is always way too packed with people. If you call you get shuffled around. It’s hard to get ahold of anyone. Both the (Nurse Practitioner B.J. Earl) and Benjamin Knox were rude to me when they had to fit me into their schedule because I have concerns about my healing process. B.J Earl seemed concerned my first visit but after he put the cast on me then he didn’t care anymore. I finally had an appointment (that they made me) to get an X-Ray on my wrist and arm and not only did Rebecca or (Becca) at the front desk mess that up because she gave me the wrong appointment time. She told my spouse it was 10 am on August 22 but when I arrived she said it was still the original 1:20 appointment time. She’s the one who moved it to 10am due to a appointment I had somewhere else later that day. The very rude lady at check out turned me away because I missed my appointment and I missed my appointment because of (Becca) at the front desk. They didn’t even take my cast off. I had to take it off myself. If I end up going to another doctor and that doctor sees something wrong then they should be liable after I voiced my concerns so many times. So now I’m still wandering how my arm/wrist is inside. Im supposed to go to physical therapy but I presume they aren’t going to help me with that either. Nurse Practitioner (B.J. Earl) told me “he would see me through to the end of it” Yeah right! They definitely didn’t deserve all the money my insurance paid them due to the lack of treatment.

Dr Holbrook has operated on both of my wrists for carpel tunnel. I also have arthritis. It took longer for my right wrist to “get going” after the surgery as I am right handed. It actually took about 10-12 months for them to get back like a25 yr old! My wrists are just fine now, do not get tired or ache like they used to. 5 STARS to Dr Holbrook. Thanks

I brought my fiance in to get a bandage changed and to discuss some pain that has started about a week after surgery. A nurse names Anissa met us in the waiting area and basically turned him away. She was very condescending and refused to listen to his concerns. Her tone and language choices were rude as well. She told him they have given him enough bandages and he would have to go "concentrate" and find the correct ones at Walgreens since she can't go with him. While these offices are busy, there is no excuse for being rude or condescending to patients.

Will never go to any other Ortheapedics

Worse place in Johnson City to try to see a doctor! Deserve no stars! Staff is rude and unwilling to help. Even after the ER recommend it they wouldn't take BlueCare insurance. And I had a broke ankle and shoulder!

Dr Knox is a joke!.no bedside manner..very Interupting when trying to explain your own body ended up going to another orthopedic dr. Office..finally correct information given with a understanding physician who listens and dont try to tell you lose weight you will make it better.when weight had nothing to do with disc being out! One star for him..listen and rudeness classes for sure!

Doctor seemed competent. Lower rating is due to their disorganization. Waited an hour for a 1:30 appointment. Doctor was rushed during our 5-10 minute diagnosis. I had many questions but... he was rushed. Doctor said that he would submit a request to insurance for the MRI and they would call me. They called nearly a week after the insurance company notified them, to my inconvenience once again. My impression is that this organization is getting pressure from the executives/ administrators to make money and so they just overload the system to the inconvenience of the patients. Too bad. This organization could be so much better with better management. Their desire for more profits will cause this patient to go elsewhere, making their profits less.

Went to the ER across the street from here after I severed the tendon in my foot. The ER Dr attempted to fix however he could not reach it because the tendon retracted to my toe and put temporary stitches and told me I will see Dr waldrip on Monday morning at Appalachian orthopedic and he will be taking these out and fixing the tendon. I do not have health insurance, but was told that because Dr waldrip is on duty that I need to see him on Monday. I never met him at the ER or at his office. I instead was see by the assistant, who was kind but not very confident, and told me the stitches look fine and he would have done it the same way. After I heard this I was upset because I was told that I would see this Dr waldrip (he was never coming to the office on Monday and knew this before I was told to go see him) who would not only fix the tendon but also redo the temporary stitches that look terrible now. I left the office with a $220 bill just to be told what I already knew (my tendon is severed and needs surgery to walk correctly) and a new bandage. My issues here are lack of communication from the ER and this orthopedic office. I know all Drs you have long wait time and get double booked, and that is why I arrived at the facility before they opened and didn't have to long of a wait. But after knowing that I was treated like this was because of lack of insurance or because of lack of care and communication is fustrating me. At the end of it all I am reschedule to come back in 2 weeks so I can pay another office visit to see the Dr, I requested to have the office visit waved but they told me they can't do anything about it. I will not be returning to a visit to be told the things I already know. IT IS A SCAM!!! Do not give them your hard earned money for them to not care and have poor communication within the office and other places that they work with to schedule. I will say it again, SCAM!!!

A few tips before you make your appointment, make sure you are not more than 20 minutes late. If you make it there on time make sure you’re prepared to wait an hour and a half just to see the doctor. Today was a very critical appointment for me and it was decided more than a week and a half later is the appropriate time to reschedule.

I saw Dr Knox one time and he told me that I needed neck surgery. I have tried since 1992 to get someone to help me. I just got the runaround. I was told I could be paralyzed, or we can't do that until it herniates. I was even sent to a chiropractor by an orthopedic doctor. I have had the surgery and would do it again. No pain. I didn't even need pain meds. He has given me my life back. I highly recommend him.

John Crowe at AOA is a fantastic PT. After my ACL surgery he worked with me to regain my strength and mobility. He's always a positive presence even during a difficult rehab process. HIGHLY RECOMMEND John for Physical Therapy services!

Steve Bargs

The doctors and PA staff are great and do their jobs very well, but some of the reception staff and the nurse Anissa were very condescending and rude. After surgery, if something feels wrong, I believe that a patient should at least have an opportunity to be seen. Instead I was turned away and insulted.

Dr. Brashear is my orthopedic doctor and he's very good at what he does and very knowledgeable. The office is extremely busy and sometimes have trouble getting documentation signed however I went through the office manager and it was immediately taken care of. I would think they need more medical assistants or physician assistants for their patient load.

Sir Altitude

Great staff, courteous and pleasant.

I have used 3 different Doctors at AOA and have experienced excellent service by all three doctors. They listen to you and then act on your responses. I’ve had 2 different surgeries for two different things. Both times were fantastic. To me the biggest thing a doctor can do is LISTEN to the patient, then act upon that. My hat is off to AOA.

Kyle Jennings

Horrible they just tell you what you wanna hear, and try to get you out the door fast as they can. It really is a shame

Melanie Perry

I came in after hours to have my little toe evaluated at the suggestion of my primary care doctor. I was upset and not in a good mood when I arrived. I had just got off work and was in pain. I must say that the after hour PA, Kristen Righi and her crew were absolutely AWESOME! I was actually laughing when I left, even with a BROKEN toe! From the lady and gentleman working the front desk, who quickly got me registered and told me what to expect, the lady who took me to my room and got me settled, and ESPECIALLY the awesome lady who took care of getting my new set of x rays, AND PA Kristen Righi! Thank you so much for an awesome experience! By the time I left, I had already forgotten how bad my anxiety was when I arrived and actually left with a huge smile on my face ;)

Dr. Goss has always been informative and helpful with each visit for my father. Appointments tend to be late so plan additional time as they get behind. They are courteous even when they do get behind, trying to help you find resolution to your problem. I would recommend Dr. Goss highly.

Bryan Horton

My knee was painful over the weekend. On Monday morning I called and they got me in to see the doctor at 2:45 Monday afternoon. After a complete exam and x-rays, it was determined that I had bursitis of my knee. My knee was injected and it feels worlds better. Walking is much better now.

This was my first visit here as a patient. Someone recommended Dr. Goss, so I looked up his credentials. He seemed to have the specialities I needed, so I called and made an appointment. When I arrived, I went to the desk to sign in and noticed that there was someone else signed in with the same appointment time. I didn't think anything about it until I was called in to give my history to a nurse. She said I would have to go back to the main waiting room because all the doctor's exam rooms were full. I went back to the main waiting room. More time passed, so I went to the desk to inquire about how much longer it would take. The receptionist looked around the room and said there was one more person ahead of me. By now, I've been there nearly two hours. I told the desk that I was going to leave because I didn't think it was fair for me to wait because the doctor triple books appointments. She said she would be glad to reschedule my appointment. I told her not to bother because I wasn't going to come back and go through the same thing. I felt that if the doctor had no respect for me as a patient/person, I didn't need to see him after all. There are lots of other doctors.
