While the service was ok , their billing is a nightmare. Took three kids in separately for flu tests and was billed three different amounts for the office visit ($191, $118, and $141). called their corporate office and was referred back to the local location. The local location said they'd have to call corporate and get back with me. Would put a hold on any collections while reviewing why the different billed amounts. Not only do they not return calls, the bill was sent to collections. If you have to satisfy a deductible on your medical plan first, do not go to AFC as you don't know what they'll charge you until later and unwilling to explain their billing. I appreciate the response but have gotten no where by calling. Acct # is 1559674. (1/24; 2/9; 2/13) Your office manager has my phone #. Left it with her multiple times.

I waited over one hour to get in to see a health professional with a sore throat. There were not more than 3-4 in the waiting room. Then I was given a strep swab which I was told could be determined within minutes but I would have to wait in line again to see the one on staff and would be put on the bottom of the other filled rooms for him to come back in and decide what to do. I said I would walk out before I wait again until all the rounds were made and my request for immediate attention at that time was given.

I stopped in on my way home from a week long trip. My 1 year old was feeling badly and I was unable to wait any longer to get home for a MD visit. I stopped to see if they would be able to help us and they did more than help!! They saw us in an outstanding timely fashion. Dr Ingalls was brilliant and so thorough. I was also unfamiliar with the area and nearby pharmacies that would be on my way home. The office staff including the physician helped me come up with the best solution of choice in pharmacy. I highly recommend this business and all of their staff. Big thanks to Dr. Ingalls and his staff!!

First off, the nurse that took me back was so incredibly rude. When I asked for her name, she ignored me. She had the worst attitude I had ever seen in any kind of urgent care. Secondly, in the process of walking back to the room, I looked around and EVERYONE was playing games on their phones or scrolling on Facebook. I know everyone gets bored at work sometimes but come on someone has to do something. The only thing saving this review was the NP, Sonya. She was so nice and reassuring and made me feel comfortable. She did not want me to leave feeling unsure about anything.

When I came in here at 12:20 today I was told there would be a 45 minute to 1 hour wait. There were maybe 6 groups of 2 people each sitting in the lobby. Here it is, an hour and a half later and they have called, maybe, 3 people back. I just cannot understand, even if they only have 1 doctor back there, why it would take this long. What are they doing? A half hour psychiatric evaluation with each patient? Sorry, but you know how it is when you are sick as a dog, have been for two weeks and are just getting desperate for some relief and then you have to wait when you are sooo close! Lol **UPDATE: it is 2:50 and, while I am back in a room, the doctor has yet to see me. I have read 2 magazines, cover to cover, had numerous text messages and feel like I'm going to pass out because I have yet to eat lunch.

Traveling for work, it's hard to find a facility to get in and get out, and have a sense of getting quality care. I went in today to get a shoulder injury looked at that had lingered for a few days. The staff was courteous and professional, and the attending physician I thought did a thorough job. And, the price was VERY reasonable. No complaints at all.

The kids got sick while on vacation and this urgent care clinic had good ratings and was close to our hotel so we took them there not really knowing what to expect. We were so glad we did! We were not treated as outsider, but like we belonged. Everyone, especially the doctor, was very caring and showed concern for the kids and us too. I even got a call the next day checking on them which was a big surprise. I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone in the area and sure wish they were in my area so I could use them more often. Anytime we're in the Chattanooga area and need to see a doctor, we will definitely go back here. Thanks for taking such good care of us! Update: The service we got while sick was great, however their billing practices are horrible. I gave them our insurance information when we were there, which they said they accepted. I paid our copay at the time of our visit and thought everything was fine. About 9 months later I got a bill. I called and was told they didn't have the insurance information to file it. I gave it to them again and was told everything was fine disregard the bill and I've never heard from them again. Now 14 months later I'm getting calls from a collection company stating I was turned over to them for not paying the bill! To make matters even worse, we no longer have that insurance, so trying to get this straightened out is a nightmare.I did pay what I was required to pay at the time of service, gave them current insurance information and called to fix the problem when I was made aware of it. Never once since I called them months ago have they contacted me by phone or mail to let me know anything, just turned me over to collections. Collections said they don't see where the claim was filed with insurance. It's awful that one department can destroy a such a good place. I definitely will not be back here and will stop telling people what an awesome place it is.

Although I no longer have insurance, IIwould like to ask does your facility have a sliding scale? If so, what is the cost for someone to be seen if they have no income right now and no insurance?

I was told on two different occasions by the person at the front desk my insurance covered the visit and I would not have a bill. I clarified this both on the phone and in person before and after both visits. I just received two huge bills from these visits, at the same time. My first visit, I had blood work done. It took the nurse an unreasonable, amount of time to draw the blood, having to bring in extra help, both nurses then struggled, and it was painful. Afterwards, I could hear the nurses drawing their own blood in the hallway outside, joking around, and taking the same test to see what their test results would be. It took another hour and a half to get my test results from the doctor- although I could hear the nurses in the hallway receiving immediate results on it. The poor doctor had so many patients and little help from the nurses. She wasn’t able to talk with me much and was stressed out because she didn’t receive help or updates from the nurses who were in the hallways joking around. My second visit I had a much more positive experience with the nurse. She was really helpful and professional.

My experience was great. I was visiting Chattanooga for a college ministry conference, 3 hours away from home. I hadn’t felt great so I thought I had better find out if I was contagious considering I would be around 1500+ students daily. I went to AFC and was treated great. It was a quick and easy registration for me, the staff was super friendly, and the Dr. Tucker was very nice. Being sick and being that far from home was really unfortunate as well as having to leave the conference three days early due to a flu diagnosis. I would recommend this clinic forsure.

Husband went just to have blood drawn, they got him back pretty quickly. Told us we HAD to see a doctor just to draw blood, though. We got blood drawn and left. Lady said about 3 days, I called Tuesday to check, nothing. I waited another week or so and called again, lady said results were back, doctor signed off on them and they would fax them to our doctor that day. Waited another week, contacted our doctor, our doctor hasn't seen nor heard from them! So, today, I call this place back, tell the girl why I am calling, she puts me on hold for about 10-12 minutes and then hangs up on me. I call back and she says "can I just call you back later, were busy and I don't really have time"... are you serious? How unprofessional! I knew it seemed kinda weird when we went it, they seemed like they weren't very organized. Will NEVER go back!

I was treated with respect I was check out quick got in x-ray my chest gave me a breathing treatment I couldn't hardly breathe when I went in they were very nice and helpful and when I left I felt alots better and got my medicine there at Walmart in an out in no time an i feel better thanks to them hope they stay around.

At 10 am on a Friday I was excited to see no patient cars in lot. Expecting to see a Dr quickly I stroll up to receptionist and she advised they can't see any patients because they don't have a Dr. There were three employees behind the counter. I asked "why are you here?" They advised they are still trying to figure that out. Call ahead- make sure they have a Dr, defeats the purpose of "walk in".

Update: Original review is below. After contacting AFC and staying on top of everything we were able to get my issues resolved. The care my wife and I received was fine so I have increased to 3 stars. My wife went here a few times over roughly 3 years. Each time she needed to get a physical before starting work. She went in October of 2018 and we received a bill with balances for 2 other visits on it. I called them and they still sent one of them to collections despite my obvious willingness to help get it sorted out. This bill included a visit from August of 2016 with a patient payment amount of $25 and a balanced owed of $25. It also included a visit from 2017 but they charged $140! I remember this and I called when we got the original bill to inform them they must have billed incorrectly. It should have been a wellness visit or work physical. I never got a follow up bill or phone call - I assumed it was submitted as wellness and paid by insurance. Lastly, the bill said she owed $25 for the most recent visit but my wife paid at the time of service. I called them and had to send them my credit card statement to prove we paid for the 2018 visit and they said they would "take care of" the 2016 visit since they should have followed up on it already but never did. They never did because it was paid in full at time of service! I also reiterated the issues with the 2017 service and was told they would send another bill out. Instead of sending another bill they sent it to collections. I would not recommend using one of these places unless you absolutely need to do so - eg the only alternative is the ER. Their billing issues seem far too frequent and other reviews mention pretty shady sounding tactics.

WORST MISDIAGNOSIS I'VE EVER HEARD. The doctor there could seriously kill people if he isn't more careful. His medical knowledge is that of a 2-year old. I went to him for medicine for a high fever and vomiting, and he said it was "allergies" and gave me FloNase?!?!

The receptionist and MA were very professional and courteous. However, the physician was horrible. First, he came into the room and did not even bother to introduce himself, did not wash or sanitize his hands, and one could tell that he had not read the chart before entering the room. He refused to prescribe antibiotics based on a negative strep test. The physician appeared not to listen while I was speaking and seemed to really like listening to himself. One of his recommendations was a med that my child is not allowed to take and I told the MA all the info at the beginning of the visit ( he didn't bother asking hardly anything). We will never, ever go back to this facility if Dr. Hitchcock is working. We may not anyway if this is the caliber of physicians AFC employs.

I saw a horrible review posted here, and almost didn't go to AFC because of it, so I wanted to let others know that my trip to AFC was very positive. The wait time was minimal through every step. The staff was courteous and professional. They let me know the what and why of all that they did. The doctor listened and took the necessary time to exam me, ask questions, and test for possible issues. My tests were done quickly and thoroughly with fast results that were reported to me immediately. And I didn't have to tell them twice that I was allergic to the medicine of choice. They gave me an alternate because they were conscientious in reading my chart. So, for what it's worth, I had the exact opposite experience from the other reviewer...

A new nurse practitioner in the office has decided she can tell the future and you shouldn’t get anti-biotics. Second time for same issue within 6 days and still no anti-biotics. You would think I was asking for pain killers. Obviously this nurse isn’t interested in helping. Today was most likely my last visit there. It’s a shame because in the past these people were very helpful.

My wife was having problems with her throat so she came here to be seen by a doctor. They let her know that they accepted her insurance. So my wife paid her co-pay and that should have been the end of it. However, we received a call from a debt collector weeks later telling us we owed an extra $144. When we asked why, the debt collector let us know that even though AFC accepts our insurance, they stuck us with a doctor that did not accept our insurance and didn't let us know. They also let us know that AFC is INFAMOUS for this and that there's nothing they could do to help us. It was either pay it or take a credit hit. I'm not trying to bash anyone I'm just trying to warn people about the problems that multiple people have by going to this place. Avoid going here.

Went in to the lookout valley AFC on the Fourth of July with my 8 year old. We waited a short amount of time (15 min) and then were treated like royalty with all of the staff. Dr. Ingalls and the nurse were super friendly and professional. He ran several tests and determined she had a viral infection. Very dedicated to helping us. I would definitely go again. Would recommend you skip this establishment and go to the next doctors office. Was given a stool sample test to return. Did my part, was told it would be 3 days for results. Then come to find out after contacting them that it would take a minimum of 2 weeks (how someone mixes that information up in a work space beats me). THEN on top of that, i call back to get results two weeks later to only find out apparently i had been given the wrong kit to send the sample off in so i needed to come back and redo this all over again. Then wait two more weeks with an on going condition that i could barely sustain current day. Very unprofessional work place. I could here the nurse freaking out in panic because she had no idea how to go about even handing me off the kit to me (they should really at least sound proof the rooms). All in all i feel they just want to give you the runaround in the establishment.

The staff was very friendly and helpful from the time we walked in to the time we left. Very thoughtful with my son, explained everything that was about to be done and what he needed to do to get better. Dr Smith has some of the best bed side manners I have seen in years. Timothy was very patient getting blood while Trev was getting sick. I didn't get the lady at check outs name but she walked us out and got him a cold Gatorade of hers for him to sip on because I didn't have change with me. Thanks for going above and beyond to make us comfortable.

Of course, had to go in on mother's day as I couldn't wait for a doctor's appointment the following day. Everyone from the moment I got there took very good care of me. I had to be checked in, then be seen by the nurse, then consult and exam with the doctor. Then had an xray and then get results from the doctor and his diagnosis, then got discharge orders and prescription. Took about an hour, but it was well worth it. I have spent that long in a doctor's office with an appointment, so the time spent was very reasonable. Everyone was very courteous and professional and made you feel very comfortable. I know some people don't like going to doctors, but this is a place that you can be comfortable and confident that you were given really personalized care. I would definitely recommend.

I went to afc last year paid my copay and got my receipt about 3 months later received a bill for the 25 dollar copay after multiple calls finally got to talk to someone who apologized and said all was good. About 3 months later received another bill for the same copay I already paid. This time I mailed a copy of the receipt with a copy of the bill they sent and figured they were smart enough to fix it. I have used afc since then and nothing said about me owing them anything. Today I received a notice from a collection agency for the 25 dollars I already paid afc. So if you want to wind up wasting your time and money go to afc, or go to physicians care and you won't have these problems.

Absolutely the most unprofessional medical facility I have been to. I went in for a pre-employment physical, something that should have been easy since I was dealing with health care professionals right? Not even close! The entire visit at this facility was a disaster from the minute they called me back to being the physical. The hearing test: The first time was in the exam room with all the noise of people talking, machines, doors, not to mention the person administering the test had a bad case of the sniffles standing directly behind my head repeating, did you hear that every few seconds! After a failed attempt at a hearing test I was given a gown to put on for a exam, 2 minutes after I put on my gown, the same man who attempted my hearing test walked back in and told me to put my clothes back on and follow him down the hall to the X-Ray room for another hearing test," its quieter in there, then I could come back and get BACK into my gown again for the exam".. SOO I suggested to him why not wait until the Dr came in and did his exam, get dressed then go do another hearing test, which he agreed my idea made more sense, so we used my idea. The Dr comes in and did his basic, listened to lungs, heart, etc.. asks me to lay down so he can feel my abdomen section, what does he cover me with?? MY BLOUSE! yeah as he has me turn this way and that, he just keeps adjusting my blouse over me.. Don't hey have sheets or blankets for their own facility? Fine, I will buy them some! Then comes the guy for the 2nd hearing test, into the X-Ray room we go, same as the first test, background noise from the desk out side the doors, phones ringing, people talking, a fax machine whirling away and the same man directly behind me with a case of the sniffles asking " did you hear that?" NO I didn't hear a micro beep, your standing 2 feet behind my head talking to me and sniffling! Back to the exam room we go, the eye test, no one there communicates anything to each other because several people came to walk me out to the hall way to give me the same test several times, after they put down I had 20/20 vision, I had to point out that the exam form asked for near sight vision test also, they missed that on the paperwork.. OPPS! Finally, they came in and asked if I had a hearing aid, well yes, its on the top line of the paper you have been looking at for the past 3.5 hours! So they want to do a THIRD hearing test, uhhh, no... So the Dr comes in again! and wants to look into my ears, what does he do next, he grabs the little light off the wall, and jams it smack into my hearing aid, because its where? In my ear where its supposed to be! So when they suggested it was now time to draw blood, I LEFT! Never before, and NEVER AGAIN, oh and lets not forget they charged me full price for this 3.5 hour circus act of theirs, as the girl at the front desk smiles and tells you to have a nice day as your leaving. PS, I do plan on filing a complaint with the Medical Board, BBB, and I will get my money back for this visit.

AVOID THIS PLACE. This company billed services incorrectly and charged me for them because my insurance does not cover the incorrect codes. After 8 phone calls attempting to correct the codes, I finally spoke to an operator who hung up on me when I asked her name. I then emailed the billing office several times and received no reply. Poorly run facility, terrible customer service, a perfect example of bad health care. AFC, if my review hurts your feelings enough to discuss this with me, I have more than enough documentation to back this up. Update: after AFC replied to me, I called them like they asked below and got no reply.

Took over 6 hours to get my meds sent to the pharmacy. By the time they did it, my pharmacy closed. Had to call back again the next day to have them send it again. Asked to have a nurse call me about my meds. She didn't. I called for an office manager a day or two later. She won't be back until after Dec. 11. I asked to talk to someone else. A nurse was supposed to call me, but yet again i have not been called back.

On May 4, I presented at the office with a swollen, red, hot to the touch lower leg plus blue toes. The receptionist was unfriendly and never asked why I was there but was sure to get my copay. The nurse took me back and checked my vitals and never asked why i was there. I was placed in a room and Dr. Thompson came in and asked me what was wrong. I told him i didn't know and showed him my leg. He the proceeded to ask me what i thought was wrong. He decided infection and placed me on antibiotics. I was told if it was better in 24 hours to see my Primary doctor. It wasnt better. I presented to my Primary doctor and one glance at my leg and she knew what was wrong. I had a blood clot. I am now on blood thinner waiting to see a vascular doctor to see if the clot can be removed. I know that inferior care was offered to me and I am truly disappointed in this office. I hope the other offices offer better care.

In and out super fast. I needed stitches and got them and a prescription for the necessary antibodies for $25 in under 40 minutes.

I was treated kindly and professionally for walking pneumonia by the staff and Dr Derek Heldzinger.The x-rays and bloodwork were quick and two hours later I was breathing a lot better. The prescription for the antibiotics was only $4. Almost unbelievable. Thanks.

Terribly terribly slow. Horrible customer service. Only thing decent about this place is the new building which is nothing compared to how terrible everything else. Never go here. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. GO TO A REAL DOCTORS OFFICE. WAITED OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE A FEW MINUTES.

Its hard to believe that I am giving a five-star review to a doctor's office, but this one earned it. First, I walked in on Thursday about 2PM and the waiting room was spotless and roomy. I was a new patient and quickly completed the forms and shown to a room within 15 minutes. I was amazed to find that everyone was friendly and personable. Everyone went out of their way to make me feel comfortable - and the doctor actually connected with me as a human - rather than the "next patient". I actually needed a few x-rays and was able to get them done and initially assessed within my first visit. Very pleased with the unexpected, yet appreciated "personality" of everyone at American Family Care.
