I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Shane and his staff! While on vacation in Hilton Head my 3 1/2 year old daughter fell and knocked out a tooth and had another hanging. Being from NJ we didn't know where to go, but luckily we went to Sea Smiles and are forever grateful to them. Our daughter needed a tooth pulled, x-rays and to get cleaned up after her fall, and Dr. Shane and his staff could not have been nicer or more kid friendly! They put on her favorite movie, kept her (and all of us) calm, and stayed open late to help us! Having come straight from the beach and with our daughter bleeding and crying we were a site for sore eyes, but Dr. Shane really made us all feel better. At the end of the visit he gave my daughter a special stuffed animal and truly put her at ease. The staff was wonderful with following up with instructions for taking care of the extraction and sending x-rays up to NJ. Thank you Dr. Shane and Sea Smiles!

Everything about this office will exceed your expectations of a pediatric dentist from the facility and hospitality at the front desk to the care the girls and Dr. Shane provide to the children in the chair. My 3 year old never feared going to the dentist, and I attribute that to the approach taken by the staff and the overall experience we had at this office during each visit. Unfortunately, we are leaving the area... when I shared with Dr. Shane that I was trepidatious about finding a new pediatric dentist that provided the same level of care he took extra time with us to share recommendations for the area we were moving to! AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME Dentist!! Office is new, clean and modern, with a tv on the ceiling above EVERY child’s “surfboard chair”. Dr.Shane is amazing with the kids! His entire staff is. Clam and compassionate, the entire office is patient with each and every child. My daughter absolutely LOVES going to the dentist! In between cleanings, she asks me when she gets to go to the dentist again. Any dentist that can get a child to actually want to go to his/her office is a winner in my book!! I highly recommend Sea Smiles Pediatric Dentistry to anyone with young children. Dr. Shane and his staff have always been very professional and friendly to our family. We've been going to sea smiles for 2 years now. The experience has been exceptional. We live in beaufort but prefer making the drive to Bluffton because of the great staff and child friendly environment at sea smiles. My kids started going at 1 and 2 years of age. They both felt comfortable and enjoyed the time there. My kids have never been scared or apprehensive about seeing the dentist. The office has toys/movies in the front lobby while you wait. Although I've never had to wait more then 5 minutes. They seem to manage their schedule well. Which I appreciate as a busy mom. Once inside they have tv's on the ceiling to encourage children to look up during the appointment. Children seem to forget they are getting their teeth looked at. Everyone at the office is kind and informative. They also have a treasure chest ( which my children love) that I've used as an encouragement to follow the staffs directions in order to get the appointment complete. My daughter did have a cavity and needed a filling at one point. She was calm and got through the appointment with no stress. She was only 3 at the time. I would encourage any parent looking for a dental office that will take care of your child and ease the burden of dragging your family to the dentist, to try Sea Smiles!! I've referred friends and everyone has been impressed with the experience.

I have a special needs son who has extreme sensory issues and also has a physical syndrome that causes inflamation of his joints and organs causing him extreme pain so When I first met Dr. Shane at a festival I told him all this and that I can see he has cavities and he is going to be a difficult patient. Dr. Shane said thats okay, we will schedule him when we dont have a lot going on and it will be nice and easy. And thats exactly what it was. After bringing my kids to him for over 2 years I cant say enough how happy we have been. His staff is so sweet and he is just a good caring Doctor. I asked each of my kids to tell me why they love their Dentist and this is what they said. Joey 16 said I like him because he doesnt take a long time, I hated waiting at our old dentist. Katie 14, said the same as Joey, I hated the long waits at the old doctor and I like that Dr. Shane helped me get braces. Miranda 12, said I like him because he has tvs on the ceilings and we leave with clean teeth, and Blu 4 said I like him because he has the big treasure chest and he has dinosaur teeth. I thought about what my older kids said about the waits and they were right, Dr. Shane has spoiled us... we dont sit in a waiting room for 2 hours anymore. My kids arent dredding going to a dentist because he has truly channged the way we think about dentists. If all dentists were as caring and ran their offices as he does there would be no stigmas about dentists. :)

Best.Pediatric.Dentist.Ever. I have three children, two of which are toddlers and were very leery and scared of the dentist. Unfortunately, they both had cavities and were terrified. Dr. Shane and his amazing staff were amazing and kept my kids calm and comfortable while they fixed their cavities. My four year old even had to have two teeth pulled and spacers put in. They made her feel so comfortable she was able to have the procedures done with JUST laughing gas. Shes FOUR! Dr. Shane and his staff treated me as well as my children in the way I wish every doctor would. I highly, highly recommend Sea Smiles. You can't get any better than this group of folks. Hands down the best dentist we've ever been to (and that includes myself when I was little!). Thank you to everyone at Sea Smiles for making my life as a parent so much easier because I don't have to fight my kids to go to the dentist and stress out that its going to be some traumatic experience for them. My daughter, Braelyn, had to have 2 of her bottom baby teeth extracted because her adult teeth were coming up behind them and although her teeth were loose, I didn't want to risk it hurting her adult teeth. She was a little nervous going to office that day because she knew what was going to happen. They were great there! When we left, she said "that didn't hurt at all momma!". We recently went back last week for her 6 month cleaning, and even though the last visit was for extractions, she was excited to go back! The environment of the office is so welcoming not only for the kids, but for the parents as well. Ive never had a scheduling issue, a billing issue, or insurance issue. Like most parents of young children, we were not looking forward to bringing our 2 year old to the dentist for the first time, but I have to say, we were blown away! My boys love going here (9 and 4). My 4 year old had to have work done and he did so great. I'm pretty sure he wants to be a dentist now. He tells me he thinks Dr. Shane is so cool. And he is! Everyone is friendly and they have clean area for toys and movie. The bathroom is clean, has a place to change little ones diaper, and they even have complimanary water and hot tea or coffee. The kids love the treasure chest for a toy after they leave. Seriously wish I could get my teeth done here, ha!

We've been to two other dentist that didn't work out. One found a cavity but said the tooth would fall out; six months later the tooth had gotten bad. Second dentist said the tooth wouldn't fall out until he was older but because my son can be difficult, she was very impatient with him and demanded we have surgery. You can tell she was very flustered by him and outright told us she can't work with him. We had the surgery which was bloody and he wasn't himself. Then they wanted to do more expensive work on him. My daughter highly recommended Dr. Shane and I'm so glad I went to him. I'll admit I do have an 8-year old son who can be very difficult but Dr. Shane is the ONLY dentist that knows how to talk to him, he also has more patience than the last dentist we saw. My son looks forward to his dental visits with and even remembers dental terms and has a discussion with Dr. Shane on his treatment. I was surprised when he asked if they will be using the "umbrella" because it was most comfortable for him. It's been a great experience for us all and we look forward to our visits with Dr. Shane and his friendly staff.

New building is great, with the beach decor even better than the old building. Kids get to lay on make-believe surf boards to have cleanings. So fun and they're very friendly.

Our daughter, Campbell (6), has been terrified of anything even remotely dr-related since she was hospitalized at 2 years old after becoming impacted. She had to undergo a pretty traumatizing procedure after several doctor and ER visits leading up to said hospital stay. The staff at Sea Smiles has been NOTHING but wonderful with her trembleming lips and wet, tear-filled cheeks. They know exactly what to say and how to keep her calm. Most importantly, they have instilled in Campbell the importance of brushing AND flossing every day. She reminds us that we have to do this both times a day (which should sometimes be the othe way around!).

This practice is fantastic. Dr. Shane is very knowledgeable and super friendly. The staff is always smiling and helpful too. The environment is clean and entertaining to kids while still maintaining a somewhat "adult" atmosphere. They also understand the proper way to manage a practice and the wait time is minimal. This is imperative to ones with little kids as they don't have the patience to wait around and our days are busy going from one thing to the next. I only wish the pediatricians around here could learn how to manage time better and take a page from Dr. Shane's book! We are new to South Carolina and Sea Smiles has made us feel right at home.

I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a great dentist for their kids where they will enjoy the process! Another big plus for me is that the whole office is kept clean and organized.

We had a wonderful experience at Sea Smiles Pediatrics yesterday for our first time visit with Dr. Shane. We have lived in several different states therefore part of other offices and this is by far the best experience we had with a pediatric dentist! The waiting area decor, toys, and TVs were very warm and welcoming making all 3 of my children very excited to be visiting the dentist’s office. The wait time was very short and all of the staff were super friendly. Dr. Shane was very patient and knowledgeable. We will definielty be recommending our friends to come see Dr. Shane and his staff!

This was our 3rd appointment for my 2.5 year old. It was the 1st appointment in the newly built office. Wow. It’s like a play ground inside. The hygienist came out to get us so quickly - however- my daughter was content playing with puzzles. The hygienist was so kind to let her finish. The receptionist or rather the “Director of First Impressions” (love that!!) was so kind and helpful. She knew our name right away. My daughter told the hygienist how she loves Nemo so she changed the movie playing on the ceiling from The Little Mermaid to Finding Nemo. Dr. Shane was wonderful as well and after the quick, efficient visit he allowed her to pick a prize from the treasure chest. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better they offered us a lollipop. A lollipop that is good for your teeth!! I had no idea they made such a thing. We wish we could go and play at Sea Side Everyday!!
