Dr. Herman is an amazing, caring, intelligent doctor. My father has been seeing her for liver cirrhosis caused by a malfunctioning heart valve. She is thorough, patient, and very compassionate. She explained all the treatment options clearly and answered all of our many questions kindly and was very reassuring! We highly recommend her.

This doctor couldn’t have cared less. If you’re truly sick, she will not be able to help you. Run. Away. Screaming. Update: She missed both a C diff infection and fungal overgrowth, and never retested me, or informed me the test I had done was extremely faulty. She never looked at my labs until I was on the table to be scoped. I had lost over 10% of my body weight after months of persistent non-bloody diarrhea, bloating, cramping, and abdominal pain that just kept getting worse and leaving me weaker - anything and everything I ate was a problem. I tested negative for the “usual suspects” (IBD, Celiac, parasites, etc...) and was starting to panic. I came to the Oregon Clinic as a last resort because they’re supposed to be the experts in this area, right? Wrong. I was in tears telling this Dr Herman about my symptoms and how physically and emotionally distressing they were, and she did not even try to listen to me when I explained that they did not improve with the normal IBS advice. She scheduled me for an endoscopy/colonoscopy within 5 minutes and told me to take psyllium which exacerbated my symptoms enormously! I thought I’d give her the benefit of the doubt and let her do the procedure - maybe she would find it. Imagine my disappointment when Dr Herman didn’t even bother to check my chart once, or see that they had not received the labs from my PCP during the two weeks between my initial consult and my endoscopy/colonoscopy. - - I was on the table about to go under for the scopes when I found this out! - - I went through all of this, she never bothered to call me with the negative biopsy results, or suggest other possible causes (I had to do this myself!), and I missed more work before discovering I had a serious digestive enzyme deficiency (at the very least)! The wellness clerk at my natural grocers was kinder, more helpful, FREE to talk to, and her advice alleviated most of my symptoms within 3 days. I spent more on the suprep for the procedure Dr Herman did than the entire cabinet of supplements that have helped me feel better almost overnight! I wouldn’t wish my experience with the Oregon Clinic GI West and Dr Margot Herman on anyone - and I’ll still be stuck paying for it for months!

During a time when I was dealing with chronic health issues, Dr. Herman listened to me, looked at my chart, and offered the first treatment plan that actually improved my symptoms after almost a decade of struggling.
